Tumblr media
Around the Academy, many knew Coriolanus Snow as someone driven purely by ambition, someone who inspired insecurity and tension among many of his classmates. Yet, to you, he had always just been Coriolanus, a boy you'd known since you both were children, someone who you'd give anything for.
Ever since the end of the war you and Coriolanus had been inseparable. He was your best friend. However, that blossomed into something more when the two of you started the Academy. As soon as you and Coriolanus started dating you knew he was the one for you, you couldn't picture yourself being with anyone else.
With the Plinth Prize announcement looming rumors of his stern demeanor circulated. However, in your eyes, Coriolanus remained the ever-constant presence of kindness to support you throughout all your highs and lows.
You could almost sense the tension that grew in the air the with announcement of the Plinth Prize looming. Coriolanus, usually the picture of composure, seemed on the verge of unraveling under the weight of his expectations for himself. You could tell his nights were spent sleepless and days were consumed by worries about his grades, the Plinth Prize hanging over him like an oppressive cloud.
You understood this event's significance and the importance of the prize to Coriolanus. The sacrifice of time spent together was one of your last concerns compared to the challenges presented to him.
However, the day had finally come. It was now the day they announced who had won the Plinth Prize.
As you walked into the hall you found Coriolanus, amidst a sea of your peers. Coriolanus couldn't see you, his back turned. However, as you approached, taking his hand into yours, you were greeted by him with a smile, him squeezing your hand in silent gratitude. Your presence offers a momentary respite from the relentless pressures that bore down on him.
But, the two of you didn't have time to say much, as music sounded throughout the hall, signaling the beginning of the reaping. You took your place a couple of seats behind Coriolanus, placing a kiss on his cheek before separating from him.
The Dean's voice echoed throughout the hall, outlining the new conditions for the Plinth Prize. You watched Coriolanus, sensing his tension from the announcement. Sensing his realization, the realization that his future was dependent upon the outcome of the Hunger Games.
Tensions reached their peak as the reaping continued, district after district being assigned. Coriolanus' name remained uncalled until the 12th district. You felt bad for Coriolanus watching as an emaciated girl in a rainbow dress walked onto the stage.
You shared in Coriolanus' disappointment, you felt how big of a burden this was to him. However, the atmosphere drastically shifted when this girl dropped a snake down one of the girls in the audience. Coriolanus shot up from his seat, eyes fixated on the screen.
You watched him, your own emotions in a whirlwind. The twist left everyone in shock but Coriolanus' reaction hinted at something else, something deeper. Noticing this sent a pang through your heart, the way he smiled at the girl, watching her with a sort of amazement as she began singing. You felt something that could only be described as jealousy.
This was a new feeling for you. There had been times when other girls had hit on Coriolanus. But, you had never had a reason to be jealous, Coriolanus had always remained loyal to you. However, for some reason, this felt different to you.
Tumblr media
Following the end of the ceremony, your classmates began to speak amongst themselves but you knew you had to get out of there, these emotions being too much to bear in the midst of you classmates. You needed space, making a hasty exit through the back door.
Coriolanus, of course, noticed your departure, pausing his conversation with those around him to follow after you. Your shift in demeanor was obvious to him.
Outside, the breeze offered a momentary break from the tense atmosphere in the hall. You took quick steps, the need for solitude guiding you. Coriolanus, determined not to lost sight of you, caught up to you and closed the distance.
His hand closed around your wrist, gently turning you to face him. Concern was etched onto his features as he pushed a stray strand of hair out of your face. "Hey, what's wrong?" He asked, his voice laced with genuine concern.
You stood there, suddenly being faced with an internal debate. The silence stretched between the two of you, Coriolanus' furrowed eyebrows revealed his growing concern. Ultimately, you decided to shield Coriolanus from the petty feelings of jealousy that gnawed at you.
"Nothing, I just don't feel well. I'm just gonna head home," You assured him, summoning a smile to mask the turmoil within you. Coriolanus, however, wasn't very easily convinced.
"Are you sure? Do you want me to come with you?" He pressed, the concern in his voice undeniable.
"No, I'll be okay. Just go work on your mentoring abilities," you insisted, offering a quick, reassuring peck on his lips before turning away. As you walked away, the faint echo of concern lingered in Coriolanus's eyes, but you couldn't bring yourself to burden him with the trivial pangs of jealousy that wrestled within you.
Tumblr media
Things between you and Coriolanus had been okay since the reaping. You had been continually growing more and more jealous of his tribute, who you came to know as Lucy Gray, the Songbird. However, you put your feelings on the back-burner, reminding yourself that this was for Coriolanus. However, your feelings came to a head when you heard about a particularly nasty rumor from on of your classmates Festus.
It was the day of the Hunger Games, the day that the tributes went into the arena. Festus had approached you before the games started, pulling you into a quiet corner.
"Y/n, there's something I have to tell you." Festus spoke, his seriousness concerned you, nervousness growing within you as you questioned him.
"What is it, Festus? What happened?"
"It's about Coriolanus," Festus spoke, you felt your heart drop. You had a feeling that news like this was coming but you couldn't bear to accept it as truth. "I saw him and Lucy Gray last night, at the zoo. They kissed," Festus spoke quickly, hoping to deliver the knews as fast as possible.
The blow hit you like a sledgehammer, shattering the fragile façade of composure you had clung to. The news of Coriolanus and Lucy Gray, the Songbird, sharing an intimate moment at the zoo cut through you with a sharpness that left you breathless.
You fought against the denial that arose in you. This was your Coriolanus, he would never betray you. However, things have been different lately. He'd been spending more and more time with Lucy Gray. The shock immobilized you for a moment, leaving you in a disorienting fog. The world around you seemed to warp and twist as you grappled with the harsh reality that Festus presented.
"He wouldn't do that to me," you whispered to yourself, a feeble attempt to convince yourself that this was a misunderstanding. Yet, Festus's words lingered, a relentless truth that threatened to unravel the foundation of trust you had built with Coriolanus.
Your steps faltered as you re-entered the main area, a numbness settling over you. The buzz of conversations around you became an indistinct hum, drowned out by the storm of emotions brewing within. The other seniors, talk amongst themselves in the stands.
You found a seat among them, sinking into it as if the weight of the revelation bore down on your shoulders. Tears welled up, blurring your vision as you fought to hold them back, even as your emotions threatened to break through. The haze of disbelief and betrayal clouded your thoughts, leaving you adrift in a sea of confusion and heartache.
However, the sight of Coriolanus in the front of the room, standing among the mentors, was a fresh stab to your wounded heart. The pain intensified as you realized you couldn't bear to watch him mentor Lucy Gray from his computer, knowing the betrayal that had transpired between them.
As you hurried up the stairs and out of the door, Coriolanus noticed your swift departure. He called after you, a note of desperation in his voice. Ignoring his pleas, you didn't allow the tears to fall until you were safely outside, the cool air providing a stark contrast to the turmoil within.
"Y/n! Y/n, what happened?" Coriolanus's voice echoed behind you, the urgency in his steps matching the acceleration of your own. He caught up to you quickly, positioning himself in front of you to halt your retreat. The tears that stained your cheeks didn't escape his notice, and a pang of remorse struck his heart at the sight of your pain.
"You know, Coriolanus. You know what you did," you managed to say, your words carrying a weight of hurt and betrayal. In your distressed state, you threw a punch at his chest, a futile attempt to channel the frustration and anguish within you. However, Coriolanus, standing firm, felt the impact but remained unyielding.
"No, Y/n, tell me, please. What did I do?" Coriolanus pleaded, genuine confusion etched across his face. The realization that something had gone terribly wrong dawned on him, but the specifics eluded him. The raw vulnerability in your tear-filled eyes, the pain reflected in your every gesture, sparked a pang of guilt within him. He desperately sought answers, trying to make sense of the sudden shift in your emotions.
"You and Lucy Gray, at the zoo last night." You responded. The hurt in your eyes was palpable as you confronted Coriolanus with the words of Festus. Coriolanus' confusion mirrored your own as he took a step forward, a gesture of comfort that you skillfully evaded. The revelation hung heavy in the air, a tense pause that finally broke as you accused him of kissing Lucy Gray.
"What? What about me and Lucy Gray?" he questioned, he seemed genuinely confused, which threw you off, but you were staying true to the information provided by Festus.
"You two kissed, Festus told me." You responded.
"Y/n," he sighed, "Lucy Gray and I were just talking about strategies. I'll admit we were close, but it was just because I didn't want the other tributes to hear. She leaned in but I pulled away, Festus might have left before I did. Trust me I told her there was only one woman in my life." Coriolanus explained, his heart pained at the fact that you believed he would ever cheat on you.
"So you and Lucy Gray didn't kiss?" you inquired, a yearning for reassurance in your voice. Coriolanus's response was swift and sincere, a promise that cut through the doubt and uncertainty.
"No, and I never would. I'd never do that to you. I love you, Y/n, you're the only one I want to be with," he affirmed, closing the distance and bringing a hand to cup your cheek. The touch wiped away the lingering traces of tears, and his words began to mend the fractures of trust.
As realization dawned, you spoke words weighed with guilt and remorse. "I'm sorry, Corio. I shouldn't have believed Festus. I should've just talked to you," you admitted, your gaze falling to the ground. Coriolanus gently lifted your chin, ensuring your eyes met his.
"No, I've been so distant recently with the games I've given you few reasons to trust me. But, believe me, as soon as these games are over, and I win the Plinth Prize, I'm going to spend the rest of our lives making it up to you," Coriolanus declared, attempting to lighten the atmosphere with a touch of humor. Your laughter, a melody that resonated with forgiveness, filled the space. Your hear swelled as Coriolanus mentioned the potential for a life together.
Seizing the moment, Coriolanus leaned down, capturing your lips in a passionate kiss. The warmth of reconciliation enveloped you, and the weight of doubt lifted. In that kiss, you felt the promise of a renewed connection, a shared future that transcended the shadows of misunderstanding. The world seemed to fade away, leaving only the two of you and the unspoken vow to navigate the challenges ahead together.

"anything to protect you"
a/n: i love this idea. him being so in love with her he would literally do anything is my fav hc
summary: coriolanus snow had always thought that the hunger games were necessary, keeping them as a key part of his presidency. that is until he realizes just how distressing the games are for his wife.
warnings: minor violence, snow might be a little ooc but its ok because i love him as a softie.
Tumblr media
It was a warm summer day in the Capitol. Usually, you would have enjoyed these days, the sun shining down automatically brightening your day. But, there was one thing that was weighing down your mind today. The Reaping ceremony.
Tumblr media
You had grown up in the Capitol but had never understood the games. When you were in school you had a friend, Sejanus Plinth, who shared the same views as you but those views eventually got him killed. His fate served as a reminder to you, a reminder that you could never vocalize your dislike of the games.
You had married Coriolanus Snow not long after he returned from peacekeeper training. The two of you had been dating in secondary school but he ultimately broke up with you before he went away to the districts, not wanting you to spend your life waiting for him. It broke your heart to imagine being with anyone else, so you waited for Coriolanus.
Lucky for you, he was back after a couple weeks. The two of you picked up where you had left off. Coriolanus had proposed not long after he graduated. That eventually led to the position you hold now, the First Lady of Panem. Coriolanus loved that you were his first lady. You were perfect in his eyes, you'd only ever been there to support him, in both times of good and bad.
You had thought about voicing your concerns about the games to Coriolanus but no matter how much you loved and trusted him, you couldn't risk his reaction if you told him how you really felt about the games.
Tumblr media
So, you attended the Reaping Ceremony viewing that they held in the Capitol, one of Coriolanus' ideas, something that just reinforced how he felt about the games in your mind. You and Coriolanus took your seats in the box elevated higher than the crowd, allowing for a perfect view of the screens.
You and Coriolanus had walked hand-in-hand but you shrugged yours away as you sat down, thinking that your sweaty hands would betray that something was wrong with Coriolanus. Coriolanus immediately noticed that something was troubling you. In all of the years you and Coriolanus had been together he had picked up on all of your queues, there was little you could do to hide your emotions from him now.
Coriolanus leaned over in his seat, about to voice his concern, but the trumpets sounding across the area announced that the ceremony was starting. You watched with your jaw clenched as you stared into the screen, pieces of your heart breaking off with each child's name that was called.
Your breaking point came when they called the female tribute from District 11. They called her name, your heart shattering as you saw a girl who was no older than 12 stepping out of the crowd. Tears swell your eyes and you her the girl's sobs. Even the announcer, who usually remained uninterested, seemed to be uncomfortable. You couldn't take it anymore, standing up to leave. Coriolanus watched as you left, jumping up to follow you.
"My love, wait!" Coriolanus called after his wife's retreating figure but you continued walking. It was only when he caught up to you to grab hold of your wrist that you stopped walking. Concern flooded his face as he realized you were crying, holding your face in his hands. "Y/n, darling, what's wrong?" He questioned, brushing away the tears with his thumb.
"I can't do it anymore, Coriolanus." He tensed at the use of his full name. You hadn't called him Coriolanus when it was just the two of you since the two of you were children. You shook your head as you took Coriolanus' hands off your face. You took a step back from Coriolanus, ready to leave again when he spoke.
"Can't do what, my love? What is bothering you?" Coriolanus pleaded with you, but you just shook your head.
"I can't say, I'm sorry." You spoke, turning to leave as more tears poured out of your eyes.
Tumblr media
Coriolanus refused to return to the ceremony without you. He couldn't fathom going back in the eye of the public without you by his side. He arrived home a couple of minutes after you, seeing you hanging up your coat when he walked in.
"Please talk to me, y/n." He spoke, a defeated tone. He wanted nothing more than to take you into his arms while you confided in him, like normal. But, he could tell something was different this time. "Why can't you tell me? Do you not trust me?" Coriolanus spoke again his voice soft as you could hear it breaking.
"It's not about trust, Corio. I'm scared." You confessed. Coriolanus, his usual composure shattered, felt a lump forming in his throat. The weight of his wife's fear bore down on him. Coriolanus had never realized that his wife harbored such deep-seated anxieties.
"Scared? Scared of what?" Coriolanus questioned, taking a couple steps towards where you stood in the entryway. It was when he got closer to you that he realized you were trembling. You took a deep breath, preparing yourself to share your burdens with Coriolanus.
"Do you remember Sejanus?" You questioned, your voice fragile.
Coriolanus nodded memories of the boy they grew up with flashing in his mind. "Of course I do, what about him?"
"He rebelled against the games, against the system. That's what killed him." You began, your voice shaking as you explained. Understanding dawned on Coriolanus, causing his heart to sink.
"It's that what's been haunting you? You disapprove of the games?" Coriolanus questioned, getting close enough to you to wrap his arms around your waist. You allowed him to, missing the gentle touch of your husband.
"Yes, I do. But I was scared, that if I said something I would end up like Sejanus. Scared that I would be killed." You spoke, breaking down into sobs once more, resting your head on Coriolanus' chest.
Coriolanus felt guilty for not realizing what was going on sooner. You had always been so supportive in his times of need but the time you needed him he failed to realize. Coriolanus brought a hand to rest on your back as he drew small circles, hoping to soothe you. Coriolanus had another horrifying realization as he attempted to soothe you, you feared for your life under his rule. Coriolanus hooked his fingers underneath your chin, bringing your eyes to meet his.
"My love, I swear to, I would never let any harm come to you. No one will ever hurt you so long as I am in power. I cannot bear the thought of you living in fear." Coriolanus spoke, his own voice choked with emotion. He wished he could erase the fear that you'd felt.
"But, Sejanus was our friend, his dad was wealthy, and he was still killed. What if something-" You started to speak again but Coriolanus cut you off.
"I cannot change what happened in the past, but I can change what will happen in the future. I'm going to find a way to change things, to put an end to this. I will end the games, they've caused too much pain. I won't lose you over the games. No harm will come to you, I swear it." Coriolanus finished, you felt comforted by his vows, and you knew he would follow through.
Coriolanus pulled you back into his embrace, allowing your tears to stain his shirt. His own tears fell silently, a mixture of sorrow for Sejanus, guilt for his role in the games, and the deep love that he held for you. At that moment he realized the games had not only taken a toll on the Districts but on himself.
As Coriolanus held you he vowed to himself that he would do whatever it took to ensure a safer Panem for you. The games had taken so much from him and he was determined to salvage what remained.

kiss it better
request: can you do a one-shot just like the scene where coryo goes insane because he thinks that the reader left him in the cabin but she didn't and they just go to spend some quality time.
a/n: thank you so much for the request i love this idea!
summary: following the death of Mayflower and Billy Taupe you and coriolanus decide to flee the districts, hoping to avoid the persecution of the peacekeepers. however, when you seem to get lost in the woods coriolanus panics.
warnings: there is a brief description of mayfair's death but it's not detailed. coriolanus might be slightly ooc cause this is my first time writing him but i swear im trying my best.
Tumblr media
Coriolanus had made a huge mistake. he hadn't meant to kill Mayfair, he just panicked. He was just going to let her leave but then you walked in, making you a part of Sejanus' horrible plan.
"What's going on?" You spoke, eyes moving from Coriolanus to the weapons that lay on the table. Coriolanus saw as your eyes widened and he hurried to comfort you. "Corio, what's going on?" You questioned again, clutching onto his bicep, hoping for reassurance.
"Y/n, it's gonna be fine-" Coriolanus started, attempting to soothe you as he ran a hand across your cheek.
"Oh, none of you are going to be fine. I'm gonna tell my Daddy what all of you did and he's gonna string you up!" Mayfair spoke in an almost taunting tone. Her threat casts a chilling shadow over the room. As Mayfair turned to leave Spruce, fueled by tension and adrenaline, raised the gun to her back.
"I can't let you leave," Spruce spoke. Y/n took an unconscious step back, recoiling from the potential for violence. Coriolanus could tell you were scared and he felt horrible for being the reason you were involved in this. His mind was racing, he knew he had to get you out of there.
"She's bluffing, she won't actually do anything." Billy Taupe defended, eager to avoid any harm that might come to his girlfriend and to deescalate the growing tension in the room.
"Really? Was I bluffing at the reaping? Tell me Lucy Gray, how did you like your time in the Capitol?" Mayfair spoke, eyes staring at Lucy Gray, who gasped. Mayfair smiled as she turned to leave. Coriolanus jumped at the opportunity, lunging for the weapon on the ground. In a single second Mayfair had fallen to the ground. You gasped, your eyes fixated on Mayfair's fallen figure. Coriolanus was quick to shield you from the unsettling sight, positioning himself in front of you.
"I need you to go home y/n. I'm going to get this figured out. But you need to go home right now and you can't look like anything is wrong," He spoke, his tone firm and filled with urgency. "y/n, please." Coriolanus spoke again when you didn't move. You had stood still, trying to process the events that had just unfolded in front of you. Finally, you looked up at Coriolanus, a nod of reluctant understanding breaking through your shock. You trusted Coriolanus, he would get you guys out of this.
Coriolanus watched you leave, a mixture of relief and worry painted on his face. Once you were out of sight, he turned back to the remaining people in the room. He was determined, now that your safety was at risk nothing else mattered.
Tumblr media
That's how the two of you ended up here, walking through the woods, in search of life beyond the districts. Despite some attempts at small talk, the weight of the recent events hung heavily in the air. Coriolanus could sense you were struggling to come to terms with the deaths of Mayfair and, more importantly, your shared friend Sejanus.
"I just don't understand what happened. Sejanus' plan was horrible but he seemed like he was being careful," You rambled on, your voice heavy with confusion and grief. You were unaware of Coriolanus' involvement in the death of your friend. You also didn't notice the tension of the captured Coriolanus at the mention of Sejanus.
"He apparently wasn't careful enough," Coriolanus responded, his tone colder than usual, a deliberate attempt to steer away from the conversation surrounding Sejanus. He longed to focus on the two the two of you would spend together, the new life you could start. Coriolanus was taken aback when you came to an abrupt stop, forcing him to backtrack to stand in front of you. You stared up at him, your eyebrows furrowed.
"Do you not mourn for Sejanus at all, Corio?" You spoke, your eyes reflecting the sadness and confusion that weighed you down. Coriolanus felt a pang of guilt for being distant. However, the truth of Sejanus' death was a burden that he couldn't bear to share with you. He knew you would've never forgiven him.
"Of course, I do," Coriolanus spoke, his tone softer now in an attempt to console you. Coriolanus brought a hand to cup your cheek. "But, it was his actions that killed him." You still seemed unsure, offering a careful nod before turning your gaze to the ground. Coriolanus dropped his hand, moving to walk next to you again.
Eventually, the two of you arrived at the cabin shown to you by Lucy Gray and the Covey. Coriolanus couldn't shake the feeling of your silence, finding it unsettling. The two of you walked into the cabin, setting your things down. "We should fish for a while, we're going to need some food for the rest of the trip," Coriolanus suggested.
"Lucy Gray said there should be some poles under the floorboards," You spoke, avoiding eye contact with Coriolanus as you hung your belongings on the hooks by the door.
Coriolanus nodded, moving towards the boards he found to be loose. He lifted the boards, his eyes widening as he lifted the sheet to reveal the guns that had been used to kill Mayfair. You observed from across the room, a twinge of concern gracing your features. "What is it, Corio?" You questioned, his familiar nickname being a small sense of comfort in the moment of the unsettling discovery. He remained silent, picking up the gun as he turned to face you. Your breath caught in your chest as you saw the weapon, your mind flashing back to the violent events.
"It's the guns," Coriolanus stated, his eyes moving between the weapon in his arms and you. "This means we can go home," You hummed, nodding in agreement. The revelations held the promise of an escape. The promise of a way home. But, they also unearthed memories Coriolanus knew you could never fully forget.
"I'm going to see if I can find anything to eat around the lake, maybe that one root Lucy Gray mentioned," You spoke quickly, shaking your head as she grabbed one of the small shovels left near the door.
"Y/n, wait," Coriolanus spoke, sensing the uneasy energy that surrounded you. "It could be dangerous," Coriolanus spoke, his protective nature kicking in. You smiled as you recognized his instinct to protect you.
"Well, it's a good thing I've got this," You spoke, attempting a teasing tone as you held up the shovel. You could tell Coriolanus didn't quite believe you and you hurried out of the door. Coriolanus was worried for you but brushed off the interaction, trusting that you could take care of yourself. He rewrapped the guns, hoping to drop them into the lake, burying the echoes of the past.
Coriolanus stepped outside heading towards the boat. His eyes circled his surroundings, hoping to find you. However, he didn't see you. He looked around again, his breathing becoming more ragged as he called out for you. He was met with the horrifying echo of his own voice, no response from you.
Tumblr media
You had ventured into the forest after finding that Katniss was not ready to be eaten. You had hoped to find some berries, remembering the ones Maude Ivory had collected for you to eat. You attempted to ignore the way the trees seemed to close in on you, the path you thought you knew being erased. You ignored those thought, you had been going in a straight line, there were no place to get lost along the way.
"They should be up here," You whispered to yourself, letting out a sigh as you hoped to break the silence that lay within the forest. The rustling leaves and distant calls of birds engulfed you as you moved throughout the forest.
You had been walking for a while, looking around you realized you have never been in this part of the forest, a sign that you had gone way too far. You turned in various directions, spinning around as you searched for the way you came. Panic began to set in as you quickened your pace, unfortunately leading you to venture deeper and deeper into the forest.
In her disoriented state, you failed to see the root sticking out of the ground. Her foot caught on the root, causing you to stumble forward. Desperation clawed at you as you tried to regain your balance. However, the forest had other plans.
A divot in the ground forced you to the ground as your hands reached out to break your fall. The forest floor met you with a sickening thud, your head colliding with a moss-covered rock. The world around you spun, the pain in your head intensifying with every breath you took. As your consciousness slipped away, the forest seemed to blur into a blend of green and brown, the shadows seeming to dance together in a mesmerizing rhythm.
Back at the cabin Coriolanus grew restless as he awaited your return. The seconds felt like hours as he stared at the tree line, willing you to appear. Finally, Coriolanus was sick of waiting and decided that he would find you himself.
As he ventured into the forest the trees seemed to swallow him. His breaths came out fast, each step propelling him further into the silent forest. Anxiety was clawing at his chest, hundreds of what-ifs raced in his mind.
"Y/n? Did something happen? If something happens we can talk about it!" Coriolanus shouted, pausing as he awaited a response. But he didn't receive one, he only had the rustling leaves to greet him. The silence that surrounded him was deafening.
"Y/n, please say something. I need to know you're okay," He pleaded again. The forest remained silent, offering no hope to comfort his growing concern. Fear painted vivid scenarios in his head, each one darker than the last.
"Please, y/n, if I did something I'm so sorry. We don't even have to talk about it, please just come back with me." Coriolanus pleaded. His pleas became more urgent. His mood shifted from worry to complete despare quickly.
"Please, I can't lose you too." He spoke, this plea much quieter than the previous ones. His voice broke as he spoke, his eyes searching for any clue of you. His steps quickened as he moved around the forest, his handles trembling as he pushed branches out of his way.
"Please, y/n," He called one more time, assuming the worst. He'd come to the conclusion that you left him. It was either that or you were dead, but he couldn't bring himself to grasp the idea that you were dead.
Unbeknownst to Coriolanus, you began to stir on the forest floor. The pain in your head still lingered but the sound of someone's voice distracted you from the pain. You listened more closely as you tried to sit up. Your senses were snapped back into reality when you realized that it was Coriolanus' voice you were hearing. The closer you listened you realized how distressed he sounded and it practically broke your heart. You listened again to his ever-present calls, trying to hear which direction they were coming from, his voice acting as a life-line.
"Corio," you called out weakly, standing as you braced yourself on one of the trees. Coriolanus' head snapped in the direction of your voice. He hurried in that direction, his eyes wide with fear and relief. "Coriolanus," You called out again, wondering if you had imagined him calling for you.
"Hang on y/n! I'm coming," He spoke. Relief washed over him when he finally saw you leaning up against one of the trees, Coriolanus rushed towards you. In your disoriented state you barely even realized he had found you until he engulfed you in his arms. Your senses finally started to come back to you as you reciprocated the embrace, wrapping your arms around his waist.
Coriolanus pulled away for a moment, his eyes scanning your face, he could hardly believe he'd actually found you. He'd thought you were gone for good. Your eyes met his, being met with a vulnerability from Coriolanus you'd never seen before. Coriolanus hated the way you made him felt. He hated how worried he always was for you. But, he also couldn't deny how much he loved you.
"What happened?" Coriolanus finally spoke, brushing your hair out of your face to examine the cut on your forehead.
"I was looking for those berries, the ones Maude Ivory showed us and I got lost, and then I think I tripped," you began to ramble, stopping yourself to take a breath before speaking again, "It's all kind of a blur." Coriolanus nodded as he processed what you said, unraveling his arms from you as he wrapped an arm around your waist to help guide you back to the cabin.
"Well, I think we should get you back to the cabin," Coriolanus spoke and you laughed as you nodded. You'd had enough of the woods.
Tumblr media
Back at the cabin Coriolanus used one of the med-kits you'd brought to clean you up. Your heart swelled at how gentle he was, his hands moving cautiously over your face.
"So, will I survive?" You questioned, a smile gracing your features.
"I think you'll be okay," Coriolanus responded, a smile of his own coming across his face. But, you could tell the smile didn't meet his eyes. You could tell something was still bothering him. The sunlight pouring in from the windows illuminated the worry that was still present in his eyes, a silent acknowledgment of the fear he'd felt when he thought you'd abandoned him in the forest.
When Coriolanus finished cleaning the wound he set the supplies to the side and leaned in, placing a delicate kiss on the spot he'd just tended to. The warmth of his lips lingered on your forehead, a comforting gesture that transcended the physical healing.
"There, kissed it better." Coriolanus whispered as he moved away from you, cleaning up the remaining supplies of the med-kit.
Despite his comforting gesture, you couldn't ignore the concern that was still etched on his face. As he finished putting the med-kit away he turned to look at you, being met with your questioning gaze. "Corio, you've been on edge since we got back. What's wrong?" You questioned him, taking a couple steps closer to him so you could wrap your arms around his waist.
Coriolanus hesitated, his eyes betraying his turmoil of emotions. He opened his mouth to respond but the words got caught in his throat. Tension lingered in the air as you searched his face for clues on what he was feeling.
"It's nothing, y/n. Just a scare, that's all. Everything is fine." Coriolanus spoke. However, despite his attempts to comfort you, you could still sense his unease. You reached upwards, cupping his face to draw his attention.
"Come on, Corio. Talk to me," You spoke. Coriolanus sighed, he was torn between his desire to shield you from his concerns and the intimacy the two of you had always shared. Eventually, he gave in.
"I just... I can't stand the thought of anything happening to you. losing you in the woods, even if it was just for a moment, it terrified me." Coriolanus confessed softly. Your eyes softened at his confession.
"I'm right here, Corio. I'm not going anywhere." You assured, he nodded. "I love you, Coriolanus. Wherever you go, I'm gonna be there." You spoke, his words caught him off guard. The two of you had never used the word love.
"Y/n..." Coriolanus started, his eyes moving away from you. However, your hold on his face forced his attention back onto you. "I've never been good at this, relationships. I'm afraid of losing you, of not being enough." You nodded, you understood Coriolanus' insecurities as he'd previously voiced some of his concerns to you.
"Corio," You took a step closer, "I love you for who you are. I don't need you to be perfect." You assured him. Your words hung in the air, in that moment, leaning into Coriolanus, your lips meeting his in a tender kiss. Coriolanus, having been initially surprised by the kiss, eventually surrenders to the kiss. When the two of you pulled away you spoke again. "I want to go back to the Capitol, Corio."
Coriolanus looked surprised but that was overtaken by a look of happiness. He wanted nothing more than to return to his home and family, and now that you did too there was nothing stopping the two of you. "Wherever you wanna go, I'll follow you." Coriolanus spoke, repeating the words you'd said earlier, you smiled at him.
The decision being made, the two of you faced what leaving the woods meant. Coriolanus worked to dispose of the guns while you packed the remaining items you had at the cabin. As you walked out of the door you saw him pushing the boat back to shore. Coriolanus jumped out of the boat, outstretching his hand for you. You smiled at the gesture, moving to meet him, enclosing his hand with your own.

arguments
summary: after king viserys' death you and aemond argue over aegon's claim to the throne.
tags: aemond x targaryen reader
warnings/context: angst, arguments.
a/n: i wrote this quickly so i might edit it in future.
Tumblr media
it was the morning when alicent had entered the chambers you and aemond shared to inform the two of you that the king was dead. you were saddened by the news. you had cared about your grandsire, he had always been kind to you. before she left, alicent said something to you that surprised you. she said the king declared aegon his heir as his final wish. you had a hard time believing this, in the past, king viserys had done nothing but support rhaenyras claim.
you remained silent as aemond spoke with his mother. as alicent left you turned towards the front of your room, crossing your arms across your chest.
"do you really believe the king wanted aegon to be king?" you questioned your husband, who appeared to be deep in thought.
"i don't know. but if that's what mother says," he spoke, you could tell he didn't know what to believe. aemond had always been extremely loyal to his mother, and you assumed it would be no different this time.
"you have to realize how this looks." you stated, aemond turned to look at you, his expression hard. "his grace always supported rhaenyras claim, why did he change his mind on his deathbed? and in front of alicent, aegons mother of all people? why didn't he tell anyone else of his plans?" you questioned, more to yourself than to aemond. though, he answered anyway.
"what does it matter? aegon is going to be king." he stated turning to look away from you, and instead towards the view outside your window.
"everyone know what aegon enjoys doing, what he does in his free time. aegon is not fit to be king." you spoke with a sigh, aemond took steps towards you, he suddenly appeared angry.
"you do not know what you are talking about." aemond spoke through a clenched jaw, his working eye not meeting yours, instead focusing on anything but your face.
"i do know aegon!" you exclaimed. aemond finally looked at you. though, the usually comforting gaze of your husband was instead an angry glare.
"you are just blinded by the fact that you want your mother on the throne!" he yelled. you were taken aback by his tone, physically taking a step away from him. you and your husband had been in arguments before, but he had never raised his voice with you before.
"aemond-" you started, but you were cut off by aemond coming closer to you, grabbing your wrist in his hand. you winced as he took hold of your wrist, his grip painfully tight.
"you don't understand any of this, you should not speak about such things," he spoke, he didn't yell this time, but his voice was just as frightening to you. you didn't recognize the aemond in front of you, nor did you like it. you could feel your eyes beginning to well with tears, you gritted your teeth as you struggled in his grasp.
"aemond, you're hurting me!" you cried, voice shaky as you struggled against his grasp on your wrist. at your words aemond immediately dropped your wrist. you looked up to face him, his face had softened and his guilt was evident across his face. you moved quickly to exit the room, eager to be anywhere but that room. you could hear aemond from behind you.
"y/n, wait-" he spoke, but you ignored his calls, only moving quicker as you hurried down the hall and away from the room.
you had not spoken to aemond the rest of the day. it wasn't hard to ignore him, considering he was gone for the majority of the day searching for aegon. you figured you were okay to go back to your chambers after dinner, considering aemond was still not back. part of you wished he would get held up in flea bottom, searching for aegon.
when aemond did arrive home from his search, he entered your chambers to find you sitting on the bed, small sniffles could be heard coming from you. he could feel his stomach drop, his heart breaking as he listened to your crying, it hurt him more to know he was the reason you were crying. he approached you slowly, careful not to frighten you.
"my love," he spoke quietly, taking small steps towards the bed. he was unsure of what to say, he didn't know how upset you were, as he hadn't seen you all day. when you heard his voice you jumped up from the bed. "i'm sorry." he spoke, you could tell his apology was genuine. you both stood in silence for a moment, both of you were unsure of what to say. finally, you spoke.
"i know that i don't understand some things, but i am not an imbecile aemond." you spoke quietly, eyes avoiding his as you looked at the ground.
"you do not need to explain that to me, you are one of the most brilliant women that i have ever met." he spoke with a soft smile as he took steps closer to you. when he was close enough he brought a hand to cradle one of your cheeks, "i should not have said what i did. i was worried about aemond, and i took out all of my stress and worry on you. you deserve better than that."
"it's okay," you assured him, a small smile coming across your face so that you could prove you weren't lying. you brought a hand up to the hand on your face, holding his hand in your own.
"it was not okay, and i will spend the rest of our lives together trying to make up for it. i swear." he spoke quickly, you smiled at his eagerness to make things right between you as you brought your hand to his cheeks, pulling his face down to yours so that you could kiss him.

nameday
summary: when a fight breaks out at aegons nameday aemond makes it his mission to protect you.
tags: aemond targaryen x reader
warnings/context: usual gore, violence. the reader is married to aemond, so implied incest.
a/n: this idea is inspired from when harwin saves rhaenyra.
Tumblr media
everything had been going well as the realm celebrated aegons nameday. it had been a festive celebration as the many noble houses came together to celebrate the prince. you had begged aemond to dance with you but he simply refused, so you were left to go with haelena, which wasn't something you minded.
everything was going well as you made your way through the dance. however, towards the end of the song, you heard a woman scream. your head immediately snapped towards the direction of the sound, searching the crowd for who had screamed. you watched as the people around you started to panic and push their way through, trying to find out what was happening. you could feel your heart rate increase as you tried to look over the crowd. you then remembered you friend, haelena.
"haelena!" you called out, searching the crowd for your friend. you spotted her in the same position as you, trying to get away from the masses of people. you began to try and push through the guests to get to her.
you were getting closer to her when you were met with an unfriendly shove from someone in the crowd, sending you to the ground. as you fell your head was knocked into the chair behind you, sending shooting pains through the right side of your head. you cringed as you brought a hand up to inspect the wound. luckily, you weren't bleeding. but you still felt dizzy as you peered around the room, you also stumbled back to the ground when you tried to stand up.
meanwhile, at the front of the hall, with the rest of the royal family, aemond was growing very worried for his wife. he scanned the whole room, searching for your face amongst the crowd, and when he couldn't find it he grew more nervous. he looked over to rhaenyra and alicent, who were questioning where their daughters were.
aemond looked between the other members of the royal family, none of them seemed to be doing anything. aemond grew angry at the lack of action and decided he needed to do something himself. he pushed the chair from behind him, taking long strides as he approaced the crowd. he could hear his mother from behind him, begging him to stay where he was, but he didn't listen. he couldn't listen. not when you were in danger.
as he weaved through people he was careful to duck under pushing arms, and dodge moving people. finally, he found you on the ground near the tables. aemond hurried over to you, letting out a sigh of relief when he took you into his arms.
"aemond?" you questioned, still recovering from your head injury as he carried you back to the front of the room.
"you're alright. i'm here now." he soothed as he moved quickly, eager to get you away from any sign of danger.
once you had been removed from the crowd and safely ushered back to the front of the room, aemond set you down. daemon and rhaenyra had come over to you and aemond quickly, rhaenyra in the lead.
"y/n, are you hurt?" she questioned, speaking quickly as her eyes scanned your body for any damage. you shook your head at her, eyes darting around the room, finding it difficult to keep them focused on her. she brought her hand to cup your cheek, giving you a smile.
"i think it would be best if you two returned to your chambers, while we figure this out." daemon spoke, even though he was speaking to both of you, it was directed at aemond.
aemond said something to daemon that you didn't hear, while your eyes drifted towards the crowds clearing out, leaving behind the body of one of the guests. your breath caught in your throat at the sight of his wounds and the pool of blood. as daemon and rhaenyra walked away aemond looked down at you, following your gaze to see what you were staring at. he eyed the body for a moment before trying to pull your attention away from it, wrapping his arm around you waist as he begun to lead you out of the hall.
as you two entered your room aemond led you to the front of the room before returning to shut the doors. as you stared into the fireplace you remembered the details of the incident. the fear you felt, the blood, the dead man's face. as you thought about it you could feel tears well up in your eyes, feeling as one fell down your cheek.
aemond came back over to where you were to help you get ready for bed, as your usual handmaiden was occupied with the aftermath of the accident. he was quick to notice the tears that were now falling down your cheeks at a much faster rate.
"what is it? what's wrong, my love?" he questioned as he came to stand in front of you, cradling your face in his hands. using his thumb to wipe away some of the tears as they fell. you shook your head at him, looking down. you didn't really know why you were crying, it was just as if all of your emotions were coming out at this time.
aemond brought his arms around your waist, pulling you into his chest. as aemond looked down at you, he took notice of the bruise that was developing on your right temple, where you had hit your head on the chair. he removed one of his hands from your waist, using it to brush the hair away from your head. you pulled away from him as the contact with the wound sent a pain through your head.
"what happened? how were you hurt?" he asked you, clenching his jaw as he awaited your answer. he felt guilty that he had left you alone and that he had not gotten to you sooner.
"i fell, and my head hit the chair." you spoke quietly, voice shaky as you looked up at your husband. aemond leaned down to place a kiss on your forehead, careful not to touch the wound further. he pulled away from you before speaking.
"now, lets go to bed. it's been an eventful day." he smiled as he turned away from you, preparing for bed.
once the two of you had climbed into bed aemond pulled you into his arms, allowing you to rest your head on his chest.
"next time i supposed i will just have to dance." aemond suggested. you laughed at his suggestion, a smile coming over your face as you raised your head to look up at him, placing a kiss on his lips.

heir for a day
summary: after celebrating his claim as heir he gets scolded by the one he cares about the most.
tags: daemon x targaryen reader
warnings: the reader is rhaenyra's sister so there is implied incest. angst.
a/n: this is the first time i'm writing house of dragons so im sorry if its bad. 😩
Tumblr media
when you heard of daemon's celebrations you were furious. not even a week had passed before daemon was celebrating his own rise. daemon had opened his mouth once again, and now he was being punished for it.
you were not present when the king was told of his celebrations, however, the moment rhaenyra told you, you marched to daemon's chambers. too overcome with anger to think rationally about anything. your mother's death had hit you hard. very hard. you were very close with your mother, and when she died it felt a part of you died with her. not to mention your brother, who you had come to love in the mere hours he was alive.
you'd always known daemon was self-serving, but you thought for once, he could put that aside for once.
as daemon heard footsteps quickly approaching his door followed by banging on his door, he knew what was coming. he had expected nothing less. he had just received the news that he was being banished once again, being instructed by the king to return to runestone.
he hesitated to open the door, in a way, he was more scared of what you would say to him than anything the king could say to him. he stalked slowly to the door, opening it to be greeted by your tear-stained cheeks. he knew he fucked up. he looked away, it hurt him to look at your pained expression.
"y/n, i-" he started but was interrupted as you raised a hand, slapping him across the face. his head remained turned away from you as he clenched his jaw.
"how could you?" you questioned, voice breaking as you spoke. it was evident in your voice that you had likely not stopped crying since your mother's death.
"it was a mistake. people grieve in their own way." daemon explained, a pleading look in his eyes as he stared down at you. you shook your head at him, a single tear falling down your cheek.
"don't blame grief daemon. celebrating your own rise to power is no way to grieve the loss of a mother and her child!" you shouted at him. the conversation was growing too loud for daemons liking, so he grabbed you by the forearm, pulling you into his chambers, closing the door behind him. you pulled away from his grip, stumbling further into his room. usually, you would cherish any moment in his grasp, but right now you were too angry.
"i shouldn't have said it." he spoke again, trying to de-escalate the conversation. you scoffed as you stared at him, he could barely meet your eyes.
"then why did you say it?" you questioned. as you continued to stare at daemon the anger melt away, only to be replaced by disappointment. it was silent for a couple of moments as daemon waited to speak, searching for the right thing to say.
"if you wish to know, the king has exiled me again for what i said. i'm leaving. if that makes you happier." daemon spoke, taking careful steps towards you.
"that doesn't make me happy daemon. i want you to stay, i just want you to care." you spoke to him in a strained voice as you took steps to close the distance between you two. you stared up at him as you now stood in front of him. daemon stared back down at you his eyes softening.
"i do care," he spoke softly, so softly it was almost inaudible. but you heard it. your face broke into a small smile as his usual cold demeanor broke. he brought a careful hand to your face, using his thumb to wipe away any hint of your tears. his hand lingered on your face for a moment before he brought his lips to meet yours. he brought his other hand to cup the other side of your face, while you leaned deeper into the kiss. after a moment daemon pulled away, and you laid your head on his chest as she snaked his arms around your waist, pulling you closer.
"i am sorry." daemon spoke again.
"i know." you replied, not looking up from his chest.
