A Family Secret (PPG)
In where Professor Utonium has a secret that his girls plan to uncover, with a little help from the counterparts they knew nothing about.
Bubbles held Basil in her arms. The young girl was guiding the blonde and her sisters to a room that not even she was allowed in. Basil’s older sister, Blythe, seemed to know about it but was unwilling to disclose the contents of the room. Blossom had their male counterparts distract Basil’s sisters.
“It’s a little scary back here... I don’t know what’s here...” Basil muttered. Bunny held her hand as Bubbles set the child down. Buttercup shook the doorknob when it wouldn’t turn.
“Buttercup, don’t break it!” Blossom scolded and placed her hand over her tomboyish sister’s. “ We can’t just break their stuff!”
“Well, we don’t have a key, do we Bloss?” Buttercup retorted sarcastically. Bubbles put her arm between them incase they decided to start arguing. Basil took a look around the thin, dark hallway looking for a way to help.
“Whatcha looking for Basi?” Bunny asked while Basil subconsciously dragged her away from her sisters.
“A houseplant. I think I can unlock the door,” Basil stated sternly. “We passed by one, so Imma get it!”
Bunny thought for a moment. “How’s a plant.... oooh your powers!” Bunny nodded along with her plan, then helped her carry the plant at the end of another hallway all the way back towards their destination. “Girls! Basil has a solution!”
“Why are we even trying to get into this room?” Buttercup moved out of their way regardless of what she said.
“Because, Basil said she saw Blythe head in here a few times, and she was acting all shady. I can use this to gain an advantage over that know-it-all!” Blossom boasted. Basil stood by the door with the plant.
“I thought this was to check out whatever her and their mama have been hiding...” Bunny squinted up at her sister, who chuckled nervously.
“That too, obviously!” She ruffled her little sister’s golden brown locks as they watched Basil work. She worked the plant’s root into the lock, shuffling it around until she heard it click a few times. She twisted the knob, but she couldn’t make the door budge.
“I think it’s stuck...” She whined and turned to her companions. Buttercup rolled up her sleeves. Basil got the message and moved herself, and the plant, out of harms way. She stood behind Bubbles.
Buttercup had to back up before ramming into the door. It flung open, opening them up to a room similar to a dark hospital room. There were monitors, and a stretcher in the center of the room. Blossom led them into the room, as nervous as they all suddenly were.
“It smells like chemicals in here.... Yuck!” Bubbles pinched her nose. The two youngest crowded around her.
“I think that’s the least of our concerns, Bubs... Look at this...” Buttercup stepped up beside Blossom, who went to go inspect the screens behind the stretcher. Bubbles gasped at the sight before her. Bunny and Basil needed to get on their toes to catch a glimpse.
“It’s a girl...” Basil whispered, more so out of curiosity than anything else. There was a girl on the stretcher indeed. She seemed about as old as Basil’s and Bunny’s sisters, if not a little older. Her hair was white, and her skin was just as pale. She she had a pair of black bows in her hair, and seemed malnourished, yet peaceful in her state.
“Such a shame, really... Good old Professor couldn’t quite understand how to make the perfect little girl,” they all turned towards the doorway, a disheveled and smug Blythe standing there. “My mother isn’t really the compassionate type. Unlike your dad. She tossed her out like a cheap trinket. She was lucky I found her!”
“You mean, we had another sister?” Basil asked and turned her golden eyes towards her sister. Blossom’s eyes scanned the monitors.
“Technically speaking, yes. Though, she’s a Utonium as much as she is a Mercury. A failed product of love, you may call her,” Blythe closed the door behind her. “She’s related to each of us, though her blood is shared between our parents.”
“You’re joking! You’ve gotta be!” Buttercup was easy to dismiss her claims.
“Believe what you want! It was hard on me too. Until I saw her growing up along with me. I couldn’t bare to see our older sister in such a poor state! The most I could do was provide enough sugar-water to keep her steady. Mom helped me keep her alive so I’d keep quiet. She also gave me free range of the lab, until Basil was made,” Basil made an uncomfortable expression as Blythe stepped beside her. Bubbles moved herself and Bunny away as Blythe put a hand on the pale girl’s cheek. “Poor Bonnie... As smart as our parents are, they simply gave up on you...”
“You’ve gotta be lying! Our dad would never abandon his kids!” Bubbles protested adamantly.
“I won’t make you believe me, Bubbles. Just know that if you turned out like Bonnie here, you wouldn’t be here today. She’s the reason why they never got married. And the reason for this little family reunion came a little late.” Buttercup grabbed her by her neatly pressed collar.
“Cut the crap! Who is she really? Have you and your psycho mom been into some illegal crap?!” Blythe’s unwavering smugness pissed Buttercup off.
“Buttercup!” Bunny was quick to try and halt her sister, but Basil held onto her arm before she could. She had begun to cry as Blythe explained. She knew her mom wasn’t the nicest, but the thought of her mother and sister hiding something so important from them broke her heart a little.
“She’s...” Blossom muttered. She clicked around on the monitor, finding a screen that matched Blythe’s words in regards to “Bonnie’s” DNA. “She’s right... I don’t want to believe it, but we’re all related through her...” Blossom turned, her bright pink eyes glancing down at the pale girl. “According to the computer here, she’s been asleep for over 19 years...”
“Look at Bloss! Figuring it out so fast!” Blythe clapped for her, her expression souring a bit. “They both would’ve treated all of us like this, or even worse if things didn’t work out. Hell, my mom probably would’ve ditched me and my sister’s regardless. She hates us, just as much as she hates Utonium, and you four, and me especi-“
“Blythy.... Mama doesn’t hate us... She loves us!” Basil muttered and hugged her sister’s hips. Blythe resisted the urge to cry. She couldn’t appear weak in front of those she considered the enemy.
“She would’ve found a way to help Bonnie if she did. Instead, she tossed her out, and she nearly did the same to us!” Blythe cleared her throat, looking up at the foursome standing before them. “This is why I just wanted to solve this on my own. So my mom can love me for “saving her child”. I haven’t made much progress.” She rubbed her arm while staring at the top of Basil’s head, and the room feel silent. Blossom walked passed her three sisters, and went to put an arm on her shoulder.
“Well, I for one think that the professor would be willing to help your cause,” Blossom reassured. She put her pride aside for the time being.
“Blossom what? Don’t you like, hate her guts or something?” Buttercup interjected. Blossom flinched at her words.
“No need to feel nervous Blossom. I can tell by your body language!” Blythe smiled at the redhead, genuinely this time. “But don’t do it for me. Do it for Bonnie. She deserves to live just as much as we do,” Blythe gently pushed her hand off of her, and turned towards the door. “Mom doesn’t get home til tomorrow. That should be enough time to make your choice. Text me when you do incase I need to take care of her.”
For the first time in her life, Blythe felt defeated by someone who wasn’t her mother. She felt defeated by herself, and the potential dirt Blossom had against her now. Not only had she inevitably dropped her guard against her bitter rival, but she also could only do the bare minimum to assist someone in need. It was only a matter of time before someone used this against her, that someone being her mother most likely.
Blythe stepped towards the door, rubbing between her eyes. She heard shuffling from behind the door, and she opened it. The Rowdyruff Boys, Blythe’s sisters, and Basil’s pet, Peach the fox, were on the other side. They seemed to be arguing on who got to listen in. Blythe looked almost stunned to see them.
“I...”
“You’ve been hiding something this big from us?” Blair asked in her usual soft tone. Even she seemed a little mad. Bo simply shook her head.
“W-Well...”
“I knew you couldn’t even trust us to tell us this!” Bo put a hand on her hip. “So much for family values...” Blythe felt backed into a corner.
“I was just trying to...” Blythe watched Basil walked over passed her sisters and the boys. Bunny and Blitz followed, concerned for their friend. “I was gonna tell you...”

“When?” Blair interrupted sharply. “We could’ve helped you, you know! We may not be as smart as you, but we could’ve done this together-“
Neither of you would get it!” She yelled, her eyes suddenly full of annoyance. “I don’t need the lecture, thank you very much! I get enough of that outta mom!” She attempted to move passed her sisters, but Blair grasped her arm firmly. Blythe didn’t turn around. She just kept pulling against her sister’s increasing strength. They all heard an almost defeaning crack before Blythe left in a streak of teal.
“She didn’t...” Boomer muttered.
“She broke her arm to get away...” Bo added, hiding the fact that she found that to be a pretty badass move, all thing considered.
“She was scared more than anything. I could feel it,” Bubbles looked sympathetic. Blossom wheeled the stretcher out of the room, her mind already forming a plan.
“We should get Bonnie to the professor. We’ll search for her later.” As she passed by Brick, she gave him a peck on the cheek, as an apology for using him as a distraction. Also for the injuries he sustained.
“Why are we even bothering?” Buttercup asked, boredom laced into her tone.
“Wouldn’t you want someone to help your unconscious half sister?” Bo asked her green-clad friend. Buttercup crossed her arms.
“I guess...” Bubbles chuckled lightly at her sister’s attitude.
“I’m gonna go check on Basil and Bunny... Wanna come Boom?” Bubbles held onto her doppelgängers hand. Boomer nodded at her, a blush easily finding its way to his face. That just left Bo, Blair, Butch, Brick, Blossom, and Buttercup in the corridor, standing quite awkwardly in the silence. Blossom sighed, beginning to walk again.
“We can come up with strategies after Bonnie’s taken care of.” She declared.

The Pocky Game (XiaoGan)
This is also on my a03 but I edited it a bit, so I might as well put it here too!
Usually, Mr. Zhongli’s house was fairly quiet on a school night. Little Qiqi would be off doing her homework, and Xiao would either be helping her or away at someone else’s place. Particularly, to Ganyu’s. He found himself spending more and more time with her, much to the confusion of their peers.
From there, his friend group branched out. They all convened at his home to bond. Xiao wasn’t very fond of the idea, obviously, but somehow, Ganyu pierced his heart that evening.
”You’ll love it, I promise! I’ll stick by your side the whole time if you need me to!”
Something about that girl managed to make him agree to just about anything that’d make her happy. So, they sat around his room on the second floor. It was across from Qiqi’s but she promised not to disturb her brother while his friends were over, regardless of how much she liked being around Ganyu.
Aether dragged Venti along since the “bard” had nothing better to do. Lumine tagged along with her brother since she and Ganyu were actually fairly close. They talked, mostly about student council and girl stuff, and Xiao sat awkwardly beside Ganyu the entire time. Lumine noticed his awkward demeanor and excused herself from her conversation to get a snack from her bag. she had thrown it against the wall near the door along with her brother’s and Venti’s. Ganyu abruptly turned to Xiao, startling him.
“Why so tense, Xiao?” Ganyu tilted her head to the raven haired male. She shot him a soft smile that happened to make him hesitate in his response.
“I’m not...” Xiao muttered and averted his gaze. Ganyu gave him a curious glance, but the shaking of a box in the direction Lumine went in. Everyone in the room turned towards her, and Venti immediately got excited.
“Since it’s obvious that we’ve all broken off into pairs, I’ve got a game for us to play!” Lumine announced and tossed the two boxes she held towards Ganyu and Aether. Ganyu fumbled to catch it, and Venti snatched it from the air before Aether could.
“Venti you’re not supposed to eat them yet-“
“But they’re so tasty!"
Ganyu giggled at her friend’s antics while she opened their own pack of snacks. Xiao’s pale face turned a light shade of pink for a moment.
“You’ve gotta tell me how many you break by the time I come back! And, how many you finished off!” Lumine instructed and creaked Xiao’s door open. Xiao frowned, knowing Lumine well enough that she'd pull something like this.
“And where are you going?” Her look alike questioned, much to Lumine’s annoyance. She swiftly turned back around, giving him a look.
“If you must know, I don’t plan on being the third wheel here. I’m gonna go mind my business while you all do whatever you want with the game,” she explained before exiting. She gave Xiao a knowing smile before she left, which ticked him off a bit.
“What’s just stopping us from eating these?” Xiao inquired while eying the box. Ganyu had set the now open box on his lap during the explanation.
“Because,” Ganyu’s voice made Xiao look up. He flinched when she held the end of the pocky stick in her mouth, the other half pointed at him. “It’ll be fun! And we get to eat them regardless of what happens!” She wiggled the stick between her lips, and Xiao began to sweat. He was usually ready for just about anything, but playing such a game with the girl he undoubtedly had a crush on was not one of them.
“Better hurry up Xiao! We’re on our fifth one over here!” Venti teased with a smug wink. A flushed Aether forced the shorter male to face him by grabbing his chin.
“Because you keep sliding them out of my mouth just to eat them yourself!” Aether lamented and narrowed his eyes at the ravenette. Venti simply chuckled in response, poking his nose. Xiao glared daggers at Venti before turning back to Ganyu. She had a bit of a frown on her face.
“Do you not want to play with me? We can just eat it like normal if you want!” Ganyu offered and began to nubble lightly on the chocolatey treat. Xiao sheepishly shook his head and placed his lips at the other end. Then, he froze, unable to even nibble on the stick.
It seemed like a very intimate staring contest. While Venti and Aether goofed off and snuck in a few brief kisses before Venti ultimately stole the whole treat from Aether, Ganyu took her time with Xiao. She was aware of how emotionally reserved he was, and she was honestly just happy that he managed to get this far with her. She was incredibly patient, especially when he’d jolt his head down when they’d been staring at each other for too long.
No one in the room had ever seen Xiao with so much color to his face. He couldn’t help it. He pushed himself further with each attempt, but he ultimately couldn’t bring himself any closer than about two inches from Ganyu. He’d be the one to break it every time.
Even though Ganyu looked calm and cheery on the outside, she too had been growing embarrassed on the inside. This was the first guy she’d ever really gotten close to, and their lips had almost touched a couple times. She’d tried to muster up the courage to take a jump so Xiao wouldn’t have to, but backed out of it at the last second.
They reached their last one in no time. Venti smugly watched them from his spot next to a flushed Aether. The blonde had nearly passed out by the end of the game. He laid on Xiao’s floor, hands covering his face. Venti chuckled at his partner while he calmed himself down.
It was almost over. This embarrassing game was almost over, and Xiao couldn’t wait. But at the same time, he didn’t want it to end. He didn’t show it, but he was having fun with Ganyu. He even smiled a little, but only to where Ganyu could see it. She returned his smile with her own soft grin, taking a big bite out of the stick. This left Xiao a bit stunned, and Ganyu somewhat regretting the decision to take such a large bite. Xiao sucked in a breath, doing the same. Ganyu’s eyes widened, only to narrow at the sudden challenge he presented to her.
The two inch distance had long been tossed aside, but neither one of them could bring themselves to get any closer. Xiao was about to break it off, calling it quits for now, but out of the corner of his eye, he spotted his door opening slowly.
“Big brother, dad said to- Oh, you're busy... I’ll tell dad...” Qiqi peeked into the room. The door was left cracked after Aether went to use the bathroom earlier, so she let herself in after no one answered her soft knock. Xiao’s breath hitched, and he stumbled off the bed to chase down his monotoned sister. His lips accidentally pecked Ganyu’s in the process, but he was too busy going after Qiqi to notice. Ganyu, meanwhile, finished her half with blushing cheeks and a light chuckle at Xiao’s antics.
”That wasn’t so bad...” She thought, Venti giving her a thumbs up from across the room.

Pushing People Away (Bede)
Arms crossed and shoulders adorn in a pink silk, a platinum blonde male sulked silently at a graveyard. He stood out amongst the dreary environment in his pastel gym attire.
Bede had shed enough tears alone. He couldn't start here. The people who past by burned him with the pity in their gaze. He swiftly turned away from the gravestone titled "Opal".
"She lived a long and wonderful life, and taught so many of us."
He never wanted to hear those words in passing. Lived. Taught. They ate at his very soul. He hated whenever people spoke about her like they knew her. Maybe they did, but the past tense they spoke in agitated him.
"She left me too..." He muttered bitterly before making his way back to the graveyard's entrance. He found himself choking up during the trek back. He tried to distract himself by calling a Flying Taxi and checking any notifications he had. There wasn't much that he cared for at the moment. Other than a text message.
It was from someone who considered himself to be his "friend". Victor, the current crowned champion. He often would check up on Bede, but the young gym leader took it as a sign of pity for him almost every time.
"What does he want..." Bede groaned bitterly, opening his messaging app as he walked. When he answered with a vague "what" to Victor's positive greeting, Victor decides to immediately call. Bede flinched when his ring tone went off, glaring down at Victor's picture when it popped up. "What was so important that you had to waste my time with a phone call?"
Victor laughed awkwardly, but he sighed in relief regardless of the rather rude tone Bede held. "I uh... I wanted to check up on you..." He said. "You've been gone for a few hours and some gym challengers were wondering where you went. Then I got worried when you didn't answer my texts and-"
"Save the rant. I'm fine, as you can clearly tell," Bede huffed. He paused when his taxi arrived, telling the driver to take him to Bellonlea. "Was that all you needed?"
"Not exactly! I'm genuinely concerned about you! You've been a lot more... Snappy? Less talkative than usual. I thought we were making progress in our friendship but you talk to me like an annoying stranger..." Bede heard shuffling on the other end as he processed what Victor said. "I want to help you out if you're having a tough time! Long story short, I want you to talk to me! Face to face preferably..."
Bede's foot began to tap. He shut his eyes and gritted his teeth. Was Victor pitying him again? Was this a means to lure him in like Rose had done? Soften him up and get his use out of him before tossing him aside. Victor said he'd never do that, but Bede didn't want to take any more chances.
His parents left him, then Rose ans Oleana tossed him away like a cheap piece of plastic. Opal left him when he thought he was ready to let her go. Who's to say Victor wouldn't do the same? Or anyone else who says they "care".
"Like I told you before, you don't have to do that," Bede stated as calmly as he could. His voice became unsteady towards the end, and he prayed that Victor hadn't heard. His emotions were boiling over, burning his mental state with each drop spilled. "I wish you'd get it through your thick head that I don't need your help, or your pity, or anything else your offering. I can handle myself, thank you very much!"
"Bede..." Victor sighed. Bede's carriage rocked slightly.
"I said I don't want to hear it! We aren't even friends! I don't know why you bother! You're wasting your breath!" Bede raised his voice. He leaned forward in his seat without realizing.
"Hm I... I don't know why I bothered... I guess..." Victor muttered. "I thought I was doing something good for you, but I'm in the wrong, apparently." The blonde opened his mouth to speak, but he had no anger fueled words to retort back. His anger had subsided, leaving behind an emotion he'd never want to feel again, regret. "I'll um, talk to you later if you want. Sorry if I bothered you."
Bede couldn't see Victor's dejected expression. He could hear the emotion coating his voice before he hung up. Bede gulped, sitting back in his cushioned seat.
Maybe... Maybe he messed up just this once.
