Kind of Friends
Show: The Rookie
Lucy Chen x Tim Bradford, aka Chenford
Summary: If Tim had come over after Lucy’s mom left during 3x10
A/N: I binged The Rookie in like a week and now I’m in love with Tim Bradford and I love him and Lucy together! This is my first time writing in this fandom feel free to leave constructive criticism!
This is mostly just fluff, just Tim and Lucy caring about each other but not admitting they like each other.
Word Count: 695
Lucy had been sitting alone in her apartment since her mom left. The food was still sitting out, albeit cold now. It had been a couple hours and she couldn’t stop thinking about what her mom said. She really thought that both of her parents would have changed their minds now that she was a P2. At the very least she thought that they would actively stop trying to make her quit, but damn was she wrong.
A knock on her door broke Lucy out of her thoughts. She half hoped it was her mom coming back to apologize but when she opened the door it was her TO, or her ex-TO, staring at her.
“Oh, hey.” Was her greeting to him as he stood at her door with a small box in his hand.
“Well don’t act so excited Chen,” He scoffed a little before continuing, “I don’t want to interrupt your dinner with your parents, but Lopez wanted me to drop off some of her extra cake testing pieces. She said that she was, and I quote, ‘big enough as it is’ and didn’t need the extra cake.”  He finished his little story with one of his smirks before offering Lucy the box.
Lucy grabbed the box and backed into her apartment, leaving the door open as an invitation for Tim to follow her. And he did. “I’ll make sure to tell Angela thank you but, as you can see, the only thing you’re interrupting is my pity party.”
Tim gave her a questioning look, so she began to explain.
“Just the same shit, my parents being disappointed in my career choice and trying to convince me to quit. You know my dad didn’t even come? Yeah, just my mom did and not even two minutes after she walked through the door, she told me that she and my father were embarrassed of me. I wasn’t expecting a parade, but a ‘good job’ would have been nice…” she trailed off “and you probably don’t care, sorry. Tonight, has just been really frustrating.”
“Hey, I care, I’m not a total robot.” His response makes a laugh bubble out of her, “and hey we are kind of friends, I guess.” He finishes with an easy smile
“Ha so you admit it!” Lucy exclaims while her first real smile of the night spreads across her face.
He knew it would make her smile, and while he’d never say it out loud, he would do anything to see that smile on her face. Especially if it was directed at him.
“Remember when I said to not let anyone ever tell you that you can’t do something?” he waited for her to nod and then waited another minute until she looked up at him, and then held eye contact with her, “sometimes that includes our parents, and believe me, I know what wanting parents to be proud of you feels like.” He takes a deep breath before continuing, not used to being this open with his former rookie, “But just know that I am proud of you, you are going to do so many good things in your career Lucy and your parents may never approve of this life, but I will always be one call away and I’ll tell you how incredibly proud of you I am every time you need to hear it.”
Now that may not have been the most Tim Bradford thing to say, but something about this small but strong brunette in front of him had changed him into a softy.
Lucy just stood there staring at him and he saw her chin begin to tremble and her eyes begin to water.
“Thank you” was all she said as silent tears began to fall.
He immediately pulled her into his arms, and they just stood in the middle her apartment embracing each other for a few minutes. Neither of them wanting to let go but neither of them ready to admit why.
When they finally pulled away from each other, Lucy wiped away her tears and Tim broke the silence.
“Cake?”
And Lucy laughed as she began to look at her cake options.

Gender Reveal
Show: Hawaii Five-0
Pairing: Steve McGarrett x Female!Reader
Warnings: Absolutely none, this is absolute fluff. Soft!Steve makes my heart happy
Request: Can I request Steve McGarrett x reader with pregnancy fluff please? Maybe like a gender reveal party with the whole squad and it’s just super fluffy? - @coffee-wihtout-caffeine
A/N: Sorry this took me so long but classes just started back up and doing them completely online is stressing me out! But anyway enjoy my first request!
You slowly opened your eyes as the morning light began to shine through the bedroom window.
“Is there a reason you’re staring at me?” you ask softly before opening your eyes and meet a pair of blue-green ones staring back at you.
“I know you haven’t been sleeping well lately and I didn’t want to wake you by getting out of bed.” He speaks softly while brushing your hair out of your face and placing his hand on your stomach where a small bump had begun to form.
You placed your hand on top of his and the two of you just laid there for a few minutes.
“What time is it anyway?” you finally broke the silence
“Like 9am” He spoke cautiously
“You turned my alarm off!? Steve, we have people coming over today! I have to finish cleaning the house and make the food and set up the decorations.” You chaotically spoke as you got out of bed and started to make your way downstairs, not caring that you were only wearing one of Steve’s shirt.
“Wait, Y/N, you should change.” You heard Steve yell from the bedroom as he was getting dressed but you just ignored him as you continued down the stairs and into the kitchen but immediately stopped when you realized you weren’t alone.
Steve came up behind you. “I asked them to come over early to help set up so you wouldn’t have to.” He spoke while kissing the top of your head while Kono, Danny, and Grace stared back at you. Thankfully you weren’t showing too much and the shirt was still pretty long on you. The thought didn’t stop the blush on you face though.
“Good morning sleeping beauties.” Danny finally spoke after a few minutes.
“Why don’t we go set up some of the outdoor decorations.” Kono spoke while gesturing for Grace to follow her.
You began to slowly back up, “I’m just going to get dressed.” You say before making your way back upstairs.
Steve and Danny just stood in the kitchen for a moment before Danny spoke.
“You ready for this?” He asks while going back to working on putting food on trays.
“Being a dad? Yeah. I mean you can do it so it shouldn’t be too hard.” Steve jokes while walk to the counter to help him.
“Haha. Well I’m sure you want a boy, so that’ll be easier for you than having a girl.”
“Who says I want a boy?” Steve asked
“Well I just figured you want a kid you can teach all your SEAL stuff too.”
“And I can’t give a girl any SEAL training?” Steve asked accusingly.
“I mean I guess you can. Please Steven, if you have a girl do not give her grenades as presents.”
“I would not give her grenades,” Steve started while making is way outside with a tray of food, “I’d start small with tear gas.”
Danny stood shaking his head as you made your back downstairs. “Your husband is insane.”
“Tell me something I don’t know.” You laughed while grabbing a piece of fruit and popping it into your mouth.
“You guys really will make great parents though. And I can’t wait to spoil them.”
“Please this kid is just going to complain about how Uncle Danny is grumpy all the time.”
“Hey, I’m not grumpy all the time!” Danny argued
“Sure.” You laughed and made your way outside where you heard more voices.
Chin had shown up at some point while you were upstairs as well as Kamekona and Adam.
“Hello beautiful.” Steve said while pulling you into his side and kissing the side of your head.
“Hi handsome.” You responded while wrapping your arm around his back
“Everyone is here so let’s get this gender revealed!” Kamekona spoke while wiggling his eyebrows.
“Well not everyone.” You said while checking your phone.
“No everyone is here babe.” Steve said
“I had a surprise of my own.” You said as your secret guest walked out the back door.
“Mary?” Steve said in disbelief while walking towards his sister.
“Hey big bro, you didn’t think I was going to miss the gender reveal of my first niece or nephew.” She spoke while the hugged him.
“Ok now everyone is here.” You spoke up while they separated from their hug and Steve came back to you.
“I love you.” He spoke softly into your ear while Chin set everything up.
The team had somehow found grenade shaped gender reveal smoke bombs. All you and Steve had to do was pull the pins.
The team gathered in front of the two of you and began to countdown.
“No matter what gender this baby is, I know I’ll love it forever and I’ll always be there for them and for you.” Steve spoke seriously while staring into your eyes.
“I know you will Steve.” You knew from the moment you met Steve that he would be an amazing parent and you were so grateful that you had him as your partner.
“3…2…1” They chanted, and you and Steve pulled the pins.
Pink smoke billowed out and everyone cheered. You hugged Steve with tears in your eyes.
“I’m so happy Steve, I love you.”
As you pulled away from the hug you saw tears in Steve’s eyes as well.

You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’
Pairing: Steve McGarrett x GenderNeutral! Reader
Summary: After a bad day Steve tries to make it better.
Warnings: Mostly fluff, but does mention death
A/N: I’m rewatching Hawaii Five-0 and I love Soft!Steve so here you go.
You sat at the office alone after a particularly hard case that had hit a little too close to home for you. Everyone had left for the day, but you stayed to do paperwork and just to have some quiet time.
You had zoned out thinking about the family’s reaction when you had to give the death notification. The pain you had felt before and while you wanted to offer kind words, you knew it wouldn’t make their loss better. You just stood in the doorway after delivering news that altered that family forever. You were so in your head that you didn’t hear when someone came into the offices and you only knew there was someone there when you heard faint music coming from the main area.
You got up from your desk and made your way out of your office, hand on your weapon just in case. You immediately recognized the tune when you opened the door and you withdrew your hand off your weapon before making your way down the hall, a small smile beginning to play on your lips.
--
“Please Steve” You jokingly begged while he just shook his head.
“No, you already made me sit through that movie once and I didn’t even want to watch it the first time.” He was trying to be stern, but you could see the amusement in his eyes as he walked into your kitchen.
“But I’m having a bad day and it makes me happy.” You learned how to play Steve a while ago and you were very good at getting what you wanted from him.
You knew he was going to give in because you did have a bad day, hence the reason you asked him to come over. And he agreed in a heartbeat, bringing beer and ice cream.
Though the two of you weren’t dating there was a strong bond that had grown between the two of you. But neither of you took it farther than friendship because you didn’t want to change the dynamic of the team.
You heard Steve sigh loudly as he put some snacks down on the table and sat beside you.
“Fine, but this is the last time.” He put his arm around your shoulder as you cuddled into the side of his chest.
It wasn’t the last time. Whenever you had a bad day, Steve would come over and the two of you would watch Top Gun while he held you and complained about it.
--
When you finally reached the source of the music you saw Steve standing there waiting for you with a smirk on his face.
“What are you doing McGarrett?” You teased as you continued walking towards him.
He met you halfway, “Well it seems like you’ve lost that lovin’ feelin’.” You scoffed lightly before he placed his arms around your waist and pulled you to him. As your arms went around his neck the two of you began to sway.
Surprisingly you had never gotten the opportunity to dance with Steve and you were enjoying every last second. The two of you continued to dance until the song ended but instead of letting go Steve just pulled you closer and spoke into your ear. “I know today was hard for you and I just had to try and make it better.”
Your heart swelled at his words; “You are.” You pulled back to walk over to the table and play the song again, “You always make it better Steve.” You walked right back into his arms as the two of you began to dance again, Steve softly singing the lyrics in your ear.
He’d never tell you that he grew to love Top Gun and that damn Righteous Brothers song solely because they never failed to put a smile on your face.

Omg or if Hotch, Steve, and Spencer went to the M.E.’s office and Spencer and Max start excitedly talking to eachother and then Steve yelling “Max” and Hotch yelling “Reid” at the same time to get them to shut up
Can we talk about how good a Hawaii Five-O/ Criminal Minds crossover would’ve been?
Like Steve doing something stupid and dangerous and Hotch being like “You can’t do that” and Steve coming back with “Actually I can” and then Hotch looking at Danny like “is this guy serious?” And Danny just shrugging and saying “you get used to it”
JJ and Kono would be a power duo.
But also Steve and Danny’s reaction to one of Reid’s rants would be so funny.

Unholy (Part 2)
Pairing: Aaron Hotchner x FemaleReader
Summary: Reader’s boyfriend decides to make a scene at the BAU
Word Count: 1567
Warnings: Language, Mentions of Sex
A/N: Sorry this took so long but I was moving! Hope y'all enjoy this fluffy-ish ending
Part 1
“Oh so now it’s an issue?” You ask, exasperated as you stepped out onto the balcony of your hotel room. You were mad and the room felt way too hot for this conversation.
“It’s an issue because I never get to see my girlfriend because she’s always leaving.” James spoke angrily on the other end of the phone.
You had to leave in the middle of date night and he had been texting you aggressively throughout the case and now that you had closed the case, he decided to call you and make his grievances explicitly known.
“You knew what job I had when we started this relationship James, you knew it was the most important thing to me.” You tried to calm yourself, but you could hear your voice rise.
“Yeah I did but is it so bad to hope that you would put me first after a while?” He yelled
You pinched the bridge of your nose and took a deep breath.
“Look our plane leaves in an hour and we can discuss this when I get home.” You said through gritted teeth.
“Whatever.” Was his only response before he hung up.
--
The plane ride back was pretty uneventful, you told the team that you had a headache and they left you alone. Though that wasn’t really a lie, you really did have a headache from your argument with James.
It gave you time to think. It had been a month since you’d woken up to an empty bed and neither you nor Hotch mentioned what had happened.
Cases came and went, and your life was beginning to feel like a lame montage.
Got to work.
Leave for a case.
James gets pissy.
Come home.
Make up with James.
Go to work.
You felt numb. What little feelings you had for James dwindled and you just didn’t know how to break up with him because when you were home you did slightly enjoy his company. He was a nice guy who was reliable and who wasn’t your boss. Your very handsome and caring boss whose arms felt safe and warm and a lot like home.
You pinched the bridge of your nose as your head began to pound more.
You knew what you needed to do when you got home, and you weren’t excited for it.
You couldn’t be with James if you felt at home in another man’s arms.
--
Everyone was gathering up a few things from their desks when James came barreling out of the elevator and into the BAU bullpen.
“It’s about damn time you got back.”
“Excuse me?” you say as you whirl around at the sound of his voice.
“Do you know how stupid I feel just sitting at home waiting for a text or a call from you to say that you’re back, I had to get Tim to text me when you guys finally walked through the doors.”
His voice was rising high and he was screaming at you from across the office. Your face was on fire from the embarrassment.
“James, let’s go home.” You say while moving closer to him.
“No, I’m not going anywhere until we talk.”
By this point, everyone was completely silent and watching the two of you. You saw movement out of the corner of your eye but continue to stare at James.
“Why don’t you guys have this conversation in my office.” Hotch spoke from over your shoulder
James just scoffed, “Right. Let’s go into the office of the great SSA Aaron Hotchner,” his voice was dripping in sarcasm. “Like I don’t know about the two of you.”
You could’ve sworn your heart stopped. “What?” you managed to ask quietly.
You felt Aaron tense behind you.
“You thought I didn’t know that you were fucking your boss Y/N? Come on, how stupid do you think I am? I hear you talking in your sleep.”
Every jaw in the room dropped. And complete silence descended over the room.
“You two. My office. Now.” You heard Strauss say, you didn’t even know that she had walked in.
All you knew as you followed behind her is that you were screwed.
--
You didn’t look at Aaron even once while the two of you sat in front of Strauss’ desk. She stayed standing behind her desk glaring at the two you.
“How long?” was her first question.
“Ma’am we’re not, I mean we haven’t I mean-” you were so flustered that you couldn’t even form a single sentence but thankfully Aaron interrupted you, always calm under pressure.
“The accusations spoken by Agent James Moore are false and have no grounds.” He spoke so confidently that it gave no room for argument.
“Then why were they even spoken.” Strauss finally sat down and let out a long sign.
You could feel your confidence coming back as you spoke up. “I think I can answer that. You see after my incident from about 2 months ago I began to have some nightmares about the whole thing and then the team coming in to save me so I guess what he must have heard was me calling out for them. We’ve been fighting recently, and he probably just jumped to conclusions.”  Not a lie but also not the total truth. You couldn’t very well tell her that you’d actually been having sex dreams about the man sitting next to you. Not only would that be absolutely embarrassing but you also have no idea how she would react.
She let out a long dramatic sigh, “I trust the two of you and since only your team was here to witness it, there won’t be any consequences. Just don’t let something like that happen again.”
She looked directly at you when she said that last sentence. “Agent Y/L/N, you’re dismissed. Aaron, I need to talk to you.”
You didn’t need to be told twice and you got out of her office as fast as you could. You spotted James waiting by the elevator door and you walked up to him.
“You had no right to come here.” You could feel the anger rising once again. He opened his mouth to say something, but you just held up your hand. “No, I’m talking now. You knew how much this job meant to me when we started dating, you know how dedicated I am. It is not my fault that you can’t handle that. And not that I should even have to say this but let’s get one thing straight; I never cheated on you. And if it wasn’t clear enough, we’re over. I’m not going to be with a man who doesn’t understand my dedication to my job and this team.”
You walked away before he had a chance to reply, as you walked to your desk to finally grab your things, the team began to clap.
“Finally!” Morgan exclaimed. And you just gave him a confused look.
“We’ve been waiting for you to break up with him for about a month now.” JJ said while giving you a soft side hug.
“He was all wrong for you Y/N.” Prentiss added while walking to the elevator with her things.
You just shook your head at them and made your way to the elevator too.
As the doors opened and everyone began to get on, Aaron came down the hall. He had a weird expression on his face that you couldn’t read.
“Agent Y/L/N, I’d like to speak with you in my office please.”
You knew now was as good a time as ever to get this awkward conversation over with, so you just nodded and followed him back into his office.
He closed the door and the blinds before turning to face you.
“I’m sorry I got you in trouble with Strauss.” You say while looking down at your hands.
“Hey,” He said while taking two of his fingers to life your chin. “You didn’t get me in trouble and if anything, it was James’ fault.”
“Yeah I guess so,” you respond with a non-committal shrug, “So if you aren’t in trouble then what did Strauss say to you?”
He takes a step back and dips his head, but you could’ve sworn you saw the hint of a smile ghost his lips before he looked away.
“She actually wanted me to inform you that she never liked you and James together.” You know for sure that you saw a smile this time.
“She did not.” You gasp with your eyes wide.
“She did.” He’s shaking his head while a small laugh escapes his lips.
“Did everyone in this building have an opinion on my relationship?” you ask a little exasperated because you really wish someone would’ve just talked to you about it.
Aaron chuckled softly before stepping closer to you while saying, “Well I think they all knew who you should’ve actually been with.”
He was standing so close to you that you had to tilt your head back to look at his face, “Oh yeah? And who would that be?” You respond with a smile on your face, already knowing the answer.
“Me.” He says on a whisper before grabbing your face and bringing you in for a much-anticipated kiss, your arms wrapping around his waist. And for the first time since the morning you woke up alone, you felt whole. You felt safe. You felt home.

Distant
Pairing: Aaron Hotchner x GenderNeutral!Reader (if there are any mistakes feel free to message me!)
Requested: No
Summary: You don't want to bother the team with something personal happening in you life so you begin to pull away from them until you can’t hide it anymore.
Word Count: 2,689
Warnings: a little angst but mostly fluff, literally just Hotch being super sweet and supportive and caring
A/N: This took me too long to finish but here we go! As always my requests are open!
You’d been distancing yourself from the team more and more lately. At first it was just saying no to drinks or dinner every once and awhile to them having stopped asking you all together. You knew it was for the best though. You didn’t need them to pity you. The truth of the matter was that your mother was very sick, and you’d been taking her to as many appointments as you could or simply hanging out with her when you were home. It had been just you and her for a while now. Your father having passed some years ago. You’d always been a little stubborn and always insisted you could do things on your own. You didn’t need help or for others to feel sorry for you, so you distanced yourself from them and focused solely on helping your mother feel better.
This morning you’d gotten up early to go over to her place to check on her and bring her breakfast.
“Hi mom, I brought you food!” You announced as you walked in her house.
“We’re in here dear.” She yelled back from the living room. You walked in to see her sitting in her favorite chair as her nurse helped her with her medicine for the day. You’d decided to hire a nurse to come by daily to check on her when you’d come home from a case and saw that she’d forgotten to take her medications while you were gone. This allowed you some comfort when you had to leave knowing she’d have someone here daily to be with her or take her to her appointments.
“Hi Alice, how’re you?” You asked the nurse while sitting on the couch
“Doing good, your mother is arguing with me on how much she moves in a day. I’ve been telling her that she needs to wait for me to come over before coming down the stairs in the morning and also wait for me to come back by and help her in the evenings when you’re away.”
“I’m not that old, I think I can get up and down the stairs on my own.” Was her argument back.
“Alice is right mom, with how your joints are and the medication you’re on, you should really wait for her to help.” You spoke while you and Alice gave each other a look knowing she wasn’t going to listen.
“Whatever.” was your mother’s only response as your phone pinged with a message.
“I have to go to work now but I love you mom and listen to Alice!” you said as you stood and gave her a hug and a kiss on the cheek.
--
“Hey guys sorry I’m late.” You announced as you walked in and Penelope stood up to give the briefing. You guys were headed to a rural town in Nebraska where 3 unidentified bodies had shown up. As you all stood up to grab your bags and head to the plane JJ stopped you.
“You okay Y/N? You look tired.” She asked caringly but you also knew that she was being a little nosey since you too had been the closest before you made the decision to push them all away.
“Oh yeah I’m fine. Just had to wake up earlier today.” You answered as you walked out, not a lie but also not the whole truth.
--
You sat across from Hotch as you guys individually looked over the files after y’all decided who would do what after you all land.
“What did you have to do this morning?” He asked you suddenly
“Excuse me?” You asked kind of annoyed
“I heard you tell JJ that you had to wake up early for something and I was just curious as to what it was.” He spoke quietly and calmly, and you could tell how much he cared in his eyes. They were all worried about you, you could tell but you didn’t need to bother them with your problems, so you just blew off their intrusive questions.
“I just had some errands to run.”
“On the other side of town?” He questioned and you just gave him a confused look. “The coffee cup you had this morning is from a coffee shop that’s at least 20 min from your apartment with traffic at that time in the morning.”
“Don’t.” was your only response.
“Don’t what?” he asked a little confused.
“Don’t try to profile me Aaron.” He was honestly one of the hardest ones not to talk to about everything that was going on. All you wanted to do was confide in him about how you were feeling and have him tell you that it was going to be okay. But he was already so busy with running the team and raising Jack that you couldn’t add your problems to his life too.
“Ok. Just know that we all miss having you around more outside of working cases.”
You just sighed and you both went back to look at your cases.
--
It had taken you and the team 2 days to track down the killer and apprehend him. As you began to take the pictures down and put them into the boxes you phone began to ring. Your heart began to race when you saw that it was Alice calling. There was no one else in the conference room with you, so you subtly closed the door and you answered the call. You didn’t realize that Hotch had noticed the change in your demeanor as he watched you through the window and made his way over to the room.
“Alice what’s happened?” you question because it was late and there was no way that she was calling you with good news.
“I was running a little late tonight and I guess your mom got impatient and tried to go up the stairs by herself, but her leg gave out and she fell down the stairs. I’m so sorry Y/N.”
You felt the earth shift beneath you as you grabbed the back of a chair to steady yourself. You didn’t hear Hotch come into the room when you went to answer.
“Is she okay?” you asked as your voice broke a little.
“They’re not sure, we’re in the ambulance now on the way to the hospital. She was unconscious when I got there, and I don’t know how long it had been before I arrived.” She answered frantically.
“Okay, keep me updated with what they say. We just finished here so I’ll be flying back tonight so text me which hospital you are going to and I’ll meet you there after I land.” You spoke calmly as a single tear rolled down your face.
“Okay I will. I’m so sorry Y/N, I should have gotten there sooner but my other patient didn’t want to take her night meds so I had to- ”
“It’s okay Alice,” you began as you interrupted her and took a deep breath. “It’s not your fault. She’s stubborn and we’ve been fighting her on this for a while. All we can do now is wait and hope for good results.”
“Okay you’re right. I’ll text you any updates and I’ll see you when you get here.”
“Thank you.” Was the only responds you could give before hanging up and letting the tears fall.
“Y/N” you heard Hotch speak up behind you
“Oh, hey I’m just finishing up in here and we should be good to go soon.” You spoke trying to even out your tone and casually wipe the tears from your face before turning around. You didn’t know how long he’d been in the room but judging from the furrowed brow and the concern in his eyes you knew he’d at least heard some of your phone call.
“Please tell me what’s going on.” He spoke softly as he stepped closer to you.
“That was my mom’s nurse, she fell at home and they’re taking her to the hospital now.” You managed to get out.
“Nurse?” He asked clearly confused
You just shook your head “It’s a long story.” You said as the tears began to fall.
Hotch brought you into his chest and wrapped his arms around you. “Hey, it’s going to be okay. We’ll get you home and it’ll be okay.” he whispered into your ear as he gently rubbed his hands up and down your back.
The rest of the team watch this exchange through the open window, and you were met with curious looks as you walked out of the conference room with tear stained eyes. You knew you finally had to tell them.
--
“So basically, the last few months they’ve just been trying her on different medications to try and ease her pain but her fall tonight could be a big setback if she recovers from it.” You spoke quietly while the team sat around you on the plane. You sat next to Hotch and while you two weren’t explicitly touching his leg was pressing into yours and the warmth from him beside you was a comfort.
“Y/N, why didn’t you tell us that this was happening?” Derek questioned quietly.
You just let out a deep sigh, “I’ve always handled things on my own and I didn’t want to burden you guys with my family problems.” You stared at your hands instead of looking at any of the concerned faces around you.
“But you are a part of our family Y/N, we would have been there for you.” Rossi spoke up after a moment.
“I’m sorry. I’ve never been good at sharing.” You let out a strained laugh trying to lighten the mood, but everyone just remained quiet. “I didn’t mean to hurt you guys by pushing you away, I thought I was doing what was best.” More tears began to fall, and you hated being this vulnerable in front of everyone, but you didn’t have the energy to hide it anymore. These last few months had been really hard for you.
“What’s best is you not trying to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders when you have all of us here to help carry it for you.” JJ said while reaching across the table to grab your hand.
“Thank you” was all you could manage to say before the plane fell silent again, the emotions in the air too heavy.
“I think we should let Y/N get some sleep before we land.” Hotch spoke after a while and everyone dispersed to their respect spots on the plane to rest too.
Hotch began to stand up too but you reached for his hand.
“Please stay.” You spoke quietly as a soft smile spread on his face.
“I’ll be right back; I was just going to make you some tea.”
“Oh, thank you.” You felt a small blush on your cheeks as he walked away.
You were asleep before he got back.
--
You felt a small nudge and immediately opened your eyes. You were pulled into Hotch’s side with his arm around you and your head resting on his chest. You leaned your head back to see Hotch looking down at you.
“Hey, we’re landing soon.” he whispered to you before he went back to looking over other case files.
“Aaron?” you ask softly not wanting to break this intimate bubble you two had at the moment.
“Mhm?” was his only response
“Thank you” you moved your head back down and snuggled closer into his side. He just softly kissed the top of your head.
The plane landed shortly after that and you made your way to the hospital. Alice immediately made her way to you when you walked in.
“She’s still in surgery. She has a broken leg and some bleeding in her brain but from the last update they sounded hopeful.” She stated all in one breath and not meeting your eyes.
“Thank you, Alice, for staying but you should go home and get some rest now that I’m here.” You gave her a soft smile.
“Okay, text me any updates.” She said while gathering her things
“I will.” You answered softly but all you could think about were the words “bleeding” and “brain”.
You heard a soft “excuse me” come from her as she walked out of the small private waiting room, but you didn’t look up as she left.
“How is she?” you head a familiar male voice ask from behind you and you spun around.
“Aaron?” I guess you shouldn’t have been surprised but you guys had just gotten back from a long case and you were sure Hotch was dying to see Jack so you wouldn’t have even thought to ask him to go to the hospital with you instead of seeing his son.
“After everything we said on the plane you didn’t think we’d let you go through this alone right?” he spoke as he came closer to you.
“We?” was all you managed to say before the rest of the team came in, including Penelope.
“Seriously Y/N, we just talked about how we’re here for you.” Emily spoke as she came to your side.
“I know but we just got home and y’all are probably tired, so I didn’t want to ask any of you to stay here in a hospital for who knows how long.” A single tear rolled down your cheek because you felt so damn loved by these 7 people.
“We all got a little sleep on the plane and there’s nowhere else any of us would rather be right now.” JJ spoke from in front of you as the team had gathered into a circle in the middle of the waiting room.
“Any updates?” Spencer spoke up after a minute.
“Yes, Alice was here and said that she was in surgery. She broke her leg and I guess there was some ble-” your breath caught in your throat as you began to really digest the information, Hotch grabbed your hand and lightly squeezed it as you took a deep breath before continuing, “um some bleeding in her brain but I don’t know how recent that was.” You finished while trying to keep the tears that threaten to reappear from falling.
“I’m on it!” Garcia said while stepping away to go track down some poor nurse.
“I’m going to go with her, so she doesn’t get kicked out of the hospital.” Morgan said before following her out.
The room fell silent again as you looked up at Aaron, who was still holding your hand, and he used his other hand to brush some hair out of your face. The two of you just stood there looking into each other’s eyes before you heard Rossi clear his throat. You broke the eye contact and looked towards the floor with a blush. Your hand stayed firmly in his though.
“Emily and JJ do you think you could find some coffee for everyone?” They both nodded, looking at the two of you with soft smiles before leaving. “Reid and I will go find snacks.”
“I’d actually like to stay here to hear what the doctor says.” Reid responded, not understanding that Dave was actually trying to give the two of you some privacy. Dave just sighed.
“Then go find Garcia and learn what you can.” He said while lightly shoving him out of the room. After he got Spencer out, her turned in the doorway.
“I approve of this.” He said while winking and pointing between the two of you causing you to blush even harder and step away from Aaron.
You made your way to one of the two-person bench seats and Hotch sat beside you. He place his arm behind you and you snuggled into his side, still exhausted from the case and travel you closed your eyes and focused on the sound of Hotch’s heartbeat.
You both stayed there for several minutes and Aaron probably thought you had fallen asleep when he pressed a kiss to the top of your head and spoke so softly you weren’t actually sure he had spoken.
“I love you Y/N.”

By far one of the best writer feelings is when you’re just chilling and then it’s “Oh THAT’S how my plot is going to go”

Still Rocking Your Hoodie
Pairing: Don Eppes x Reader
A/N: I’m rewatching Numb3rs and I’m obsessed with Don bc damn that man is fine but anyways this was inspired by the song Hoodie by: Hey Violet
“Charlie are you sure about this?” Don asked suddenly very concerned “Yes Don the math doesn’t lie.” Charlie stated getting sick of people always asking if it was right “Why Don? What’s Wrong?” David asked noting the change in his demeanor “I know that address.” Don knew the way to her house by heart and soon enough they were pulling into her driveway. Don and David walked up to her front door and went to knock when they noticed the front door was already open. Drawing their guns they went into the house. “Y/N. It’s Don. Are you here?” Don asked as they made entry already having a feeling they weren’t going to get an answer. “Okay we’re clear.” David said as they put their guns away and started surveying the house. Don walked into her bedroom and looked around, noticing the old sweatshirt sitting on her bed. Picking it up he noticed you never replaced the broken zipper or the patched up the holes where the material had worn too thin. “Don you need to look at this!” David yelled from the kitchen Don walked in still holding the ratty hoodie in his hands. David wanted to ask what was going on but decided to get away. “Back door was open and there’s blood on the floor but it doesn’t look like anything fatal. The kettle was still on the stove boiling with water in it so-” “We just missed them.” Don said interrupting him. “Yeah,” was all David managed to get out, “There’s more going on here isn’t there?” David finally asked “She’s my ex.” Don said not giving too much away. Not wanting to say that she was the only girl he was ever sure he loved completely. That she was the one that got away. And how it was killing him that she was now missing.
Charlie was explaining whatever math he was going to use to find her but Don wasn’t listening. He was thinking about everything he did wrong in the relationship. They had a really good thing. He was hopelessly in love with her and vice versa. From her point of view, he ended the relationship suddenly. Said he didn’t love her anymore and moved on. But that wasn’t the whole story. The whole story being that her life was threatened multiple times because of his job and one time was too close and he just couldn’t handle her getting hurt because of him. He thought it was best to end things and she’d eventually move on to a new man who wasn’t putting her life at risk every time he went to work. It had been almost a year and he hadn’t dated anyone since. And judging by his old hoodie still on her bed, she hadn’t either. Maybe if he hadn’t ended things he would’ve been able to prevent this. She wouldn’t be living by herself. She wouldn’t have gotten hurt. But her couldn’t think like that, not right now. Right now, he had to focus on finding her. Don started to focus back on the team strategizing but the room was completely silent. “What?” He said because they were all staring at him “We know where she is Don.” Colby said “Well than why are you guys just standing around, let’s go.” He said standing up and grabbing his jacket from the back of the chair.
They pulled up outside the abandoned warehouse with S.W.A.T. and other agents. Don explained the plan to everyone and they made their way around the building before going inside. There was minimal struggle as they barged into the warehouse. One of them took off running but Don decided someone else could chase after him. “Y/N!” Don yelled out hoping you were there and you were still live. “Don is that you?” a weak voice yelled from a corner. Don ran over to the small room she was being held in and broke open the door. And immediately she started crying. “Hey, it’s going to be alright. I’m right here.” Don said while squatting down to untie her hands and feet. As soon as she was untied, she grabbed on to Don and held on for dear life. “Hey you’re fine. It’s fine.” He said while holding her head to his chest and helping her to stand up. As they walked out of the building, Don put his jacket around her and led her to the ambulance.
It was almost a week later when Don heard a knock at his door. When he opened the door Y/N was standing there. “Hey I wasn’t expecting to see you.” Was all Don managed to say “Oh well I wanted to return this.” She said while holding out his FBI jacket he’d given her at the scene. “Well thanks,” there was a pause “Hey come in for a second, I have something of yours.” She walked into his living room while he went into his bedroom, returning a few seconds later with the hoodie he found at her house. “It seems you have a thing for my jackets” He said with a chuckle “Well it was all I had of you when you left. It was always my favorite of yours even with the stupid broken zipper.” She said while staring at her feet, their break-up being an awkward topic. “Why do think I left it?” Don said and she just looked up at him confused. “I never gave you the real reason as to why I left.” Don then went into the concerns he had about her safety and all the close calls she never knew about, “But I was so worried about you getting hurt through my job that it didn’t occur to me that I could be better at keeping you safe because of what I do not until today anyway. If I never left maybe I could’ve prevented everything that happened to you.” “Don, you can’t blame yourself. If it hadn’t been for you, things much worse than them just tying me up could’ve happened. You’re great at your job but you carry too much on yourself, always have.” There was silence. “But Don I am perfectly capable of taking care of myself and if the only reason we broke up is because you were worried about my safety then that’s stupid. I understand you Don, you haven’t always been the best at talking but with what we have, I just don’t get why you wouldn’t have told me.” “Have? Present tense?” was all Don said “What?” she said confused “You said “with what we have” you’re talking about us in the present tense.” “Yes Don, just because we’re not together anymore doesn’t mean there isn’t anything still here. I was completely and helplessly in love with you. It absolutely destroyed me when you left. And no matter how hard I tried I couldn’t hate you. I think subconsciously I knew there was more to it but I was in too much pain to try and figure that out.” “I’m sorry” Don was never a man of many words “I’ve been seeing a therapist.” He said after a pause “Ok and?” “And I’m better at talking. At trusting. Y/N I want to try again with you. You are the love of my life and it took everything in me to not come running back to you. Back then I wasn’t good at relationships. I was good at leaving. So when I realized that I was putting your life at stake I didn’t know how to deal with it. Leaving was easier than dealing with my feelings. I know that doesn’t make up for what I did but do you think there is even a chance you’ll have me back?” There was silence She stood up on her tip-toes and kissed him “We’ll see” she said with a smirk as she turned and walked out Don’s apartment. Leaving him with a smirk on his face and maybe a little twinge of hope in his heart.
