Hello! Apologies if it's been mentioned before, but I was wondering if there would be an option to prevent posts from being reblogged? I can see in the post editor screenshot you posted a while ago that you can choose who can comment, but I was hoping there'd be a similar option for reblogging.

You can currently control who can see and comment on a post; we could extend this fine-control to reblogging in future if that is a popular request.

Hello! I just came across your concept and I love it! I'm just wondering if there are POC on staff or consulting during the development and what Fanexus is doing to set itself apart from other platforms that have made it unsafe for POC to thrive in fandom spaces? I like that there's a policy against hate speech which is already a step above!

Thank you for your kind words! Our mod staff is a multinational, multicultural, multilingual group that come from a variety of backgrounds, united by their dedication to freedom in fandom. We have staff in advisory roles specifically to guide in issues of race, culture, and other marginalized identities, in regards to our TOS and our internal culture and values.

Do you have a post anywhere discussing how blocking will work? On other sites, especially twitter, logging out or swapping to an alt profile allows someone to circumnavigate a block and see and even interact with a user despite being blocked, and it makes it impossible to maintain your own safety vs a harasser.

If you block someone on Fanexus, it blocks all their associated aliases. There are privacy settings that allow you to make posts only visible to select users.

will users' ages/dates of birth be displayed anywhere or accessible to other users? or is it just part of the sign-up to prevent minors from viewing r-18 content? i'm not comfortable with anyone online knowing my age - not because of nsfw reasons, it's personal! - so this is a key aspect of whether or not i'll feel safe on a social network

DOB’s won’t be displayed anywhere, and we only require DOBs from minors so we know when to convert their accounts from minor to adult.

What kind of indicator will there be to know the reason why a post appears on your feed ? I don't find it quite clear enough on Tumblr when something appears on my feed, if it's because I follow a blog or am subscribed to a tag, and what tag it is, and am curious to know your solution for this.

A post will only appear on your feed if it is:

-Posted/shared by a user you’re following

-Posted/shared to a community you’re following

-Posted to a tag you’re following

Hey! So, I've seen people leaving big-tech sites for more smaller, privacy-based sites. I was wondering if Fanexus will be privacy-based with no ads or data-tracking? (I really don't mind the ads part, lol)

That’s correct yes. We intend to gather funding via premium features and here is the privacy section of our TOS:

As a registered user of Fanexus, we will collect the following data from you for the purpose of maintaining your account: your chosen username, your email address, and your date of birth if you are under the age of 18. We will also use cookies to enable some of the site’s functionality, such as ensuring that you remain logged in as you browse the site. Will you be able to sort liked/favorited content? Much like deviantart having seperate folders for favorites? Or will the likes be all together and have to be tagged in order to see the content you've shared onto your profile? I think the work you are all doing is amazing! Keep it up!

Hello! I was wondering if we would be able to age-restrict our fanexus blogs/pages or specifically certain posts as not just 18+, but also 21+? Or make lists/private posts like on twitter+privatter, to allow only certain followers see them? I think this could be useful for content creators, especially writers, to control who has access to certain works of theirs.

We have a feature called Privacy Groups, that allows you to create custom privacy settings, which should fit the bill!

Will there be a way to filter out personal content? A tag for it maybe? That way we can just see fandom related content?

If a user tags their personal content, you can block that tag. We’re also planning to add a feature that allows you to only follow certain tags from a person, instead of seeing all of their content. For example, if you wanted to follow someone’s Spider-Man content, but wasn’t interested in anything else they posted about, you could follow just their Spider-Man tag, but not see all of their personal and other fandom posts.

If I write NSFL original fiction. Could I use Fanexus as a means of both promoting my work and searching for possible co-writers?

Absolutely! We already have a promo community on Fanexus for that very purpose!

IT’S ALIVE!!!

IT’S LIVE!!! 

A couple of days ago we let 100 users from our Discord onto Fanexus Beta, and the transition went so smoothly that the next day we let on 100 more. They immediately got to work filling the site with activity and creativity.

There is still work to be done; we are still in a testing phase and our devs are in the process of fixing bugs and usability issues, but Fanexus is now capable of supporting a userbase, and that userbase has given us some very encouraging feedback so far.

Fanexus is currently only usable on desktop, but one of our top priorities is to get the mobile version functional. Our other priority is upgrading our moderation features, so that our mods can handle over 1k website users.

Once our mod features are upgraded, we are going to give all our forum/Discord members access to Fanexus, which will mark our transition to phase 2 of our development. Phase 2 will involve getting Fanexus ready to open to public sign-ups.

It’s not too late to still be a part of phase 1! Use this application form to apply to our forum and Discord, and if you’re accepted, you can be one of the first users of Fanexus!
