#realtalk Time. Figuring out this whole work from home mom life is a daily struggle. Sometimes, when I’m too exhausted and stressed to finish my work at night when Dave is home, I have to work while I’m with Riker. And sometimes deadlines mean I can’t wait until Riker naps. I battle so much mom guilt when I have to work while Riker is awake. It feels like I’m neglecting him in some way if I’m not giving him my undivided attention every moment he’s awake. But the truth is, as long as he can see me and he has his dog lovey and rattle, he doesn’t really care. Unless he talks and I don’t talk back lol. So today, I’ll try to remember that it really is all right to get some work done. And that I have to do what I have to do to being a full time mom and a part time writer. I’m so excited to announce that my very first horror story has been published in the Halloween edition of Cleaning up Glitter Literary Magazine! For me this publication is special because it’s an example of the resilience required to get a piece published. I love this story. I think it’s one of my best. And I had a lot of faith it would get published. I’ve been submitting it for over a year and it was rejected TEN TIMES before it found a home. If I hadn’t made that 11th submission it wouldn’t have been published. If I’d given up after 10 I wouldn’t be sharing it with you just in time for Halloween.
