I feel like many people have a fundamental misconception of what unreliable narrator means. It's simply a narrative vehicle not a character flaw, a sign that the character is a bad person. There are also many different types of unreliable narrators in fiction. Being an unreliable narrator doesn't necessarily mean that the character is 'wrong', it definitely doesn't mean that they're wrong about everything even if some aspects in their story are inaccurate, and only some unreliable narrators actively and consciously lie. Stories that have unreliable narrators also tend to deal with perception and memory and they often don't even have one objective truth, just different versions. It reflects real life where we know human memory is highly unreliable and vague and people can interpret same events very differently

i want to see the desolation that aren't reflected in the mirror. i want to hear the screams of pain that aren't choking my throat. i want to taste the blood that isn't dripping from the back of my hands. i want to feel the emotions that aren't my own.

What are some good ways to write about winter?
Winter. is a season of stark contrasts and sensory experiences. It provides the perfect canvas to paint vivid scenes that range from cosy romances to horror-filled stormy nights.
When writing about winter, it’s essential to capture the essence of its chill and the way it can transform the world. Here are some quick tips!
Sights
A blanket of pristine snow covering the landscape
Bare tree branches coated with frost
Delicate snowflakes drifting from the grey sky
Icicles hanging like crystal daggers from rooftops
Colourful clothes stark against the white of snow
Sunlight reflecting off the snow, creating a blinding glare
Animal tracks stamped into the powder
Frozen lakes and puddles
Man-made objects like snowmen and snow angels
Lights shining against dark backdrops
Sounds
Snow muffling and dampening the usual noises
Boots crunching on the frozen ground
People laughing and shouting as they play
Wind howling through barren branches
Ice cracking underfoot or on distant lakes
The silence of a snow-covered world
Shovels scraping against sidewalks
Snowballs hitting their targets with soft thuds
Branches creaking, laden with snow
The rustle of animals keeping warm in burrows
Smells
The fresh, clean scent of snow in the air
Wood smoke curling from chimneys
The earthy aroma of damp wool from coats and gloves
The sharp tang of frost and cold metal
Hot chocolate and marshmallows
Pine needles and the subtle scent of evergreen

The slight ozone smell before a snowstorm
Wet dog from snowball fights with furry friends
Leather and polish from well-worn boots
Activities

Decorating the home with festive lights and ornaments
Character body language
Shivering and huddling for warmth
Rubbing hands together or blowing on them for heat
Shoulders hunched against the biting wind
Slipping and steadying oneself on icy patches
Squinting against the bright snow glare
Snuggling into oversized coats and scarves
Stamping feet to restore circulation
Clapping hands to keep the cold at bay
Arms wrapped around the torso for warmth
Quick, brisk movements to minimise exposure to the cold
Positive descriptions
The serene beauty of a snow-covered meadow at dawn

fic with the most hits flashfics of mjjw. pretty proud of one of the stories called "cold metal". something about moonjo and jongwoo's braceletless wrist :)
second most kudos: all mine It has been only what—weeks? A couple of months, at most?—since he picked up his beloved from the hospital and brought him to his place. He doesn’t even have to do much, no low trickery nor sophisticated manipulation, and still he gets to see his darling bloom, again and again, slowly but surely, and more ethereal each time in the most pleasing way.
third most comments: he's dreaming But then again, since when does Seo Moonjo let the ways of this world stop him from doing whatever he wants?
fourth most bookmarks and fifth most words: lullaby Exhaling a deep sigh, Jongwoo mindlessly opens his eyelids. It's the first mistake in his attempt of survival, because what he sees next, unexpectedly, is another pair of dark irises staring right back at him.
fic with the least words: here we are When Moonjo opens his eyes, he understands immediately what is happening to him.

it's happening again.
the tight feeling deep inside his chest. the painful thrumming of his heart against his ribcages.
deafening both his ears with how loud it beats. silencing the crowded and cramped hell he has to live in.
something is trying to get out. something inside him is trying to get out.
something monstrous, yet so very human. something foreign, yet feels like coming home. something insane, something raging.
it hurts. it burns. make it stop. make it stop. make it stop. help help help hELP HELP HELP HELL-
"darling."
cold palm against his face. long finger sliding the wet cheek under his eyes.
the world around him comes back. clean smell of his hospital ward, thin fabric of his white blanket, pricking pain of his infusion needle on the back of his hand--it all comes back.
familiar black irises staring right back at him. their faces are so close to each other that he can feel the other man's lashes as they flutter. sensing the vibration in the air as he speaks.
"why are you crying?"
that deep voice. that corpse pale skin. those blood red lips.
it's him. the cause of this all. the source of his misery. the very man that destroyed his life.

Moonjo still remembers in vivid details the night his darling bloomed.
Covered in thick blood, the bracelet of teeth trinkling around his wrist with every move he made. He was so beautiful—so wonderful. And yet, Moonjo knows that his darling hasn’t reached his full potential. Still too afraid to embrace the ethereal thing that is his true self, still too overwhelmed by how euphoric it feels to take the life out of others.
Oh, the first taste of death. The indescribable thing taking over your chest and mind when you kill a human being for the very first time. The very same thing that Moonjo so desperately hope for his darling to taste…
And Moonjo watched in awe as his beloved was feeling it all. The high temperature of the liquid leaking out of his victim, their loud screams turning into sobs and eventually silence, the delirious madness burning inside his beloved’s eyes…
It almost disappointed him when he learned that they took his darling to a psych ward. That they were trying to convince him that he was dead. That his darling had killed him. That he was hallucinating him. And that his darling almost believed them.
“Not that it matters now.”
Moonjo kneels down, looking up at his beloved’s face from the hospital’s clean floor. His voice low and full of endearment, his lips curved into a soft smile. His eyes full of tenderness as they intently stare at his darling’s disturbingly empty ones.
“Now I am here.”
Both his hands rest on Jongwoo’s lap, gently squeezing his opened palms. Jongwoo doesn’t retract his hands, doesn’t even flinch when Moonjo brings them closer and closer to his lips.
Moonjo lands a kiss on the back of his beloved’s hand as he closes his eyelids, embracing the warmth that touches his lips and spreads through his whole body.
“Now you and I will be together forever.”
Oh, darling… it has been too long.

"Tsk tsk tsk. Darling..."
His voice is low, full of mockery and fake tenderness. He puts his long fingers underneath her chin, gently making her look at him in the eyes once again.
"Don't be too sad that I hate you," he says, eyes scanning all the repressed emotions leaking from her face. "Just because I find you worthless doesn't mean you are worthless to the rest of the world."
A smirk. His eyes glinting with disgust and contempt. The last things she witnesses before she feels a sharp pain underneath her chin, thick hot liquid gushing out from her neck, drenching her chest.
And then black.
Pitch black.
