for a community music contest, the prompt is to make a song for a city, any kind of city each person submitted some words to be a "modifier," and now there's a big pool of words for people to pick from i picked "dark, intense, break" and i also came up with some flavor text

"the meaning of the song is left intentionally vague, even to myself. the time of day is unknown. the sky is engulfed by monstrous clouds. the city stands half-shattered under a broken sky; waiting silently in the shadow of death itself."

seriously getting to a point where i might just stop using any label even vaguely associated with DID, i'm so sick of all these arguments claiming i'm harming trauma survivors by existing. please let me exist. we literally have more than one internal monologue and we interact and exchange like people i don't know what to tell people at this point. the people on the internet don't like that my existence has a conceptual overlap with theirs but i'm missing their trauma and now i'm morally reprehensible i guess let me exist

i put at least a bit of thought into the literal composition of this one. i didn't want it to feel too grounded, so i tried to have things play partial, unfinished phrases. other than that i just kinda Did Stuff

so unlike the other song i just posted (it's got way more energy than i intended), this one is pretty spot-on it's meant to be the first song you hear when actually getting into the game.

the momentum of this track is really really fucking important. i'm glad i managed to get this song to feel like something is starting, like getting a ball rolling and pushing forwards. 'cause that's exactly what the game is!

sure, you might be nearly alone in a backwater solar system torn apart by a recent war, but you're damn well gonna crawl out of there, warp core or not. never had one before, don't need one now. we do things the old fucking fashioned way: GOING REALLY FAST AND EXPLODING EVERYTHING IN THE WAY.

either way it's one of my strongest songs when it comes to composition and structuring, i think i did really well with the drums in the later half of this
