  While I am quite aware that you are not the biggest fan of my dearest Guillaume Henry and the resurrected label Carven, I continue to obsess over every tiny, preppy number that he churns out.

  Now that I'm officially a student again, I truly wish I had a closetful of Carven to wear to Holborn street. However, since that isn't anywhere close to what I can afford, I shall appease myself by writing a sickly sweet, gushing post about it instead.

  This season, Carven has continued the dominant trend of midriff-bearing structured clothes (if only I owned washboard abs to pull off such an ensemble), perfectly-crafted little leather shorts and skirts, and a pinch of bright geometric prints.

  In other news, it is unbearably hot in London, and while everyone here seems to be soaking up the sun, I cannot wait for the cold to set in so I can stop feeling horrible about leaving my summer clothes back in the desert. How silly of me to think London would be cold and rainy!

  with Christophe Decarnin stepping down as Balmain's designer,  I was eager to see how his new appointee, Olivier Rousteing would fair. I am happy to report, he stuck to Balmain's hard edged rock and roller theme, and came out with flying colors.

  toned midriffs are back, and crop tops are all the rage this season. Remember the mid 80's where neon crop tops, and skintight midway shorts meant you were a topcat. Well, it has made an emergence and in a very sophisticated way. Unfortunately, we sisters, have no tummy to flaunt. However, this trend makes me want to hit the gym and don anyone of these outfits, just to feel like one of those topcats.

  Once again, we have both returned from an unnaturally long hiatus, and what a time to be back! The fashion world is in the midst of chaotic fashion month, I'm in the midst of settling into the fashion capital of the world, and have found that living and studying a short distance from Bond Street, Oxford Street, and Regent Street has proven to be a very, very dangerous decision.

  In other news, I have never been a huge fan of Gucci. However, their shows last year (with the iconically sexy colour-blocked pant-suits and dresses) began to change my opinion of them. Now, with their latest Spring RTW showing, I am officially in love.

  This collection harks back to the 1920's- one of my obsessions ever since I first read The Great Gatsby. Frida Giannini has mastered the androgynous cuts of the jackets and wide-leg pants. The drop-waisted dresses and tassels have me wishing for a time-machine, and the geometric prints and blingy accents have me wishing for unlimited amounts of money.

  Also- I have been dreaming of Antonio Berardi and Phillip Lim's latest collections. Trust me, being a fashion student on a budget is not easy!

  I had to add one more contribution to my favorites list for Spring/Summer 2012. Antonio Berardi's genius marriage of structure and flow, color and cut, and masculine and feminine, work beautifully in this ethereal collection.

  His designs are meticulous, and according to him "for a woman who is aware of her sexuality and sensuality", which is what comes through with his recent creation...I love it!

  we really need to stop our lives from taking over, with you in London and me in Toronto, consistent blogging has to be a vow we take. LFW must be coming to an end, while leaving the fashionable lusting for the next, and the fashion bloggers reporting up a storm! In the spirit of all the fashion smearing the streets, this is my contribution to all of the mayhem.

  While looking through the recent creations, as usual, Phillip Lim caught my eye. His spring 2012 collection is immaculate, he has color blocking down pat, while weaving in the masculine look beautifully....what are some of your favorite collections for the spring?

  Marchesa's Resort 2012 collection is in full form. This is their vision of poolside elegance, and how I love the grandeur of every piece. Embellishments have made a comeback for the new season, giving that tiny bit of ooph to every creation.

  While Christophe Decarnin succumbed to the unfortunate pressures of working tirelessly in the fashion industry, the unbelievably young Olivier Rousteing (he's all of 25 tender years) has taken over from him as the creative head of Blamain- and if he can't manage to bring back Balmania, I don't know who can.

  Balmain's 2012 Resort Collection has seamlessly continued Decarnin's rock and roll aesthetic from seasons past. Rousteing's contribution comes in the form of an infusion of vibrant Mayan prints and a healthy dose of sequins and bling.

  The dazzlingly handsome newly instated figurehead worked under Decarnin for only two years, but proved with this collection that he is definitely competent enough to keep Balmain at the cutting edge of fashion.

    You know how rare it is for both of us to be actively blogging at the same time- it seems inevitable that as soon as one of us becomes enthusiastic about posting our fashion finds, the other becomes lazy or busy (but mostly lazy). Anyway, just as I was wondering how to break the curse, I found India’s very own Naeem Khan's latest Spring RTW collection.

  He gives the seasons-old trend of florals a fresh make-over this season with appliques and prints that literally transform the wearer into a bouquet of lilies or tulips. How magnificent is that white tulip-printed dress? And I’m already plotting ways to get that kaftan in my greedy clutches- you think he’ll give a fellow Indian a huge discount in honour of Independence Day? No? Damn.

    Also, I'm in love with Bouchra Jarrar. I'm obsessed with the colour palette (you know royal blue has been my colour of preference this year) and the structured cuts.

  Ok, now that's out of that way, why haven't I heard of this Moroccan French delicacy known as Bouchra Jarrar? She is one to track, with phenomenal cuts which are extremely simple and structured...love it!

Garance Dore, titled the Mcqueen Exhibit at the Met, Savage Beauty. C, how true she is. This was heartbreaking and beautiful to browse through. Garance is able to beautifully capture some of Mcqueen's masterpieces, so that you can see through the beauty into the morbid...it's just so moving!

  Matthew Williamson's Summer 2011 and Fall 2011 collection is my pick for fashionable fall. His collections have been inspired by the urban fashionista. Matthew is certainly bringing the 70's back with his diverse collections, which are not only high fashion, but extremely pret a porter.

  have we been busy or what? After a whirlwind holiday to the fashion capital of Europe, and then skipping over to Barcelona, I have come back feeling inspired and filled with a renewed sense of love and respect for fashion!

  During our hiatus, you got covered in a Belgian fashion blog, our first feather in our chapeau! You were noticed and praised for emulating the color blocking trend beautifully, while keeping your outfit masculine...LOVE! I had covered the emergence of masculine cuts in fashion many posts ago, and now see it take over in full force. Hence, my first post back is an ode to structured, masculine style...an ode to us!

  Vogue, in their latest issue have highlighted the trend, and above are a few pictures from the magazine of Maria Munoz, and her fabulous style. All the cuts of her clothers are simple by keeping the lines clean, and highly structured. I am loving this new look, and I know you will too! Shall we give darzi a quick visit?

  H&M's new collection has me salivating almost as much as a German Shepherd in the middle of the desert. I'm craving cooler temperatures. Alas, the temperature in M-town hasn't dipped below 45 C in about a week.

  Guess who is catching up with Roland Muret's fabulously structured, clean lined clothing? Yes, that would be Israeli born designer, Yigal Azrouel. His spring 2011 collection, keeps up largely with this year's trend of using sheer and light palettes . He manages to make these very masculine cuts, look oh so feminine!
