Five miles today around Brentwood County Club. Time: 52:45. Felt great considering yesterday's six miles in Vibram shoes.

Rough Weekend
So this past weekend I had my 25th high school reunion. Yes, not only am I fat, I'm old. So I ran seven miles on Saturday before the reunion, stayed out waaaaaaaaay too late, and ate amazing food. Sunday, I “missed" my six miles, but made up on Monday, my normal “day off". So I'm still on pace with my mileage. The seven miles was just at one hour. Six miles was flat, on the beach at 50:13. Today, was five miles-around UCLA campus. I forgot my Garmin, so I went by memory. I felt ok, my stride was better. So I think I was good pace-wise. Yesterday, I broke down and ordered two large Papa John's pizzas. In a moment of strength, I only ate four slices. And another four tonight...I'm happy with my willpower. School is almost over, I'm stoked on that. I know the double-digit run days are coming up. I think I'm building my strength, so that's good...On to Greatness!!

Past few days
I think I’m making good strides (literally) with the running. My recent runs included an 8-mile run around the #UCLA campus on Saturday. My time was 1:12, included several hills. Felt strong, and then gorged myself at Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles. Totally worth it. Sunday was 5-mile, and that wrapped up in 42. Monday was off day, and that felt good. Last night was five miles, 42 again. It's starting to get fun, there are places I want to run but don't have “the distance" in my daily run volume to piece it all together. :-$ yeah!! My HRs might be a little high during midweek, but I'm going slow on the weekend distance runs.

I'm not the Smartest Runner...
As I finish up my M.B.A.at UCLA Anderson, I’ve been a TA for an undergraduate business plan class. The instructor took me out to eat, and I still hadn’t gotten in my five-mile run.
We went to Truxton’s, near the airport, I ate this monstrosity of a burger and some chicken skewers. Not a good idea…
So I drove to Santa Monica, found a sweet-ass parking spot on Appian, next to the monkey rings. I suited up and took off.
About a mile into it, there was a grumbly in my tumbly, a grizzly waking from hibernation, a ground hog…ok, you get the picture. By mile two, I felt like I’d been stabbed. I made the turn at 2.5 and started verbalizing my last requests…
Then I saw Mecca, the AM-PM Mini Mart. Sadly, it was across PCH…with six lanes of traffic between me and nirvana. There it IS!! The tunnel that links the West, and all of her carefree beach beauty, and the East, bastion of metropolis and unlocked plumbing! I ran through 100 metres of sand, barreled through the tunnel, and drew upon my inner reserves of strength to make it the final tenth of a mile…
I composed myself and calmly asked, “May I use your restroom please?” “Sure, right through there…”
God and I had a VERY thorough convo-I owe him, BIG TIME!
The last two miles I flew, feet barely touched the ground, and overran by about a quarter mile or so.
When I got to the SheBeast, I had a $64 ticket. Turns out I can’t read parking meter signs…#Efff.
Time for 5.03 miles (I didn't factor in the detour), 42:56
Last night I trotted six miles around campus in 52:43
I think I can lengthen my stride, I feel like I’ve got a quick turnover, but I’m not getting the distance. Working on it.
Tomorrow, Friday, day off…loving it! Saturday is 8 miles…gonna be longest run of the year. Going Big!

Mid-Week Sixer
Tonight I ran six miles after a day full of homework. My time was 52:43. Felt strong, the uphill sections are getting easier. Still kinda floppy on my downhill portions. Need to improve it. Will happen.

Ran 5 miles on Tuesday with my friend Ani. She kept a fast pace, so I pushed her down. ;-) I’m jealous cause she’s not sweating at all.

Finding A Way
Today was my four-mile loop around UCLA campus. My Garmin ran out of batteries with .3 miles left…could be better. The legs, and my calves, are getting sore and tight. I need to find a good massage therapist. Next week the mileage is stepping up…kinda getting worried. Off to rest and recovery!

Two Weeks Down
So I have been sticking with my planning and hitting my mileage exactly.  The doubled up weekends have been a welcome break from studying...although I haven't run my 3 miles today.  8-)
Running with my #Garmin has been much more helpful than just running by however long I want to run.  With The Plan in place, all I have to do is just follow.
Something I did notice is that with a distance, as opposed to time--how I ran before, I'm running faster and faster.  I'm ready to "get it over with".  Now if my speed is 8:00 miles (hence why I'm a fatty), instead of 9:30, I'm saving five minutes of run time!  RUN FAST!!!
Still a little concerned about the whole "run 50" crap.  That's a LOT of mileage.

OK--Off to knock off my week!!

At least I have a plan...
The last time I did something this stupid was my Ironman, and that was six...whoa, seven years ago.  It all started with a plan.  And I'm stoked to say, I have a plan to get this pig done did!
It's 33 weeks, ironically the same amount of time until my race.  I'm very good when I have structure, so this will give me the "how" on getting this done.  Nothing is too onerous, except the "marathon" and then run the next day.
Looks like I'm gonna have to get used to "being bored" on the run.

So I ran yesterday around the UCLA Campus, clockwise.
Tonight I ran to support the peeps from Beantown who had a horrific running experience yesterday.  Time I ran: 41:10.
The day before I got a quick run in, just 19:58.  A abridged cut across campus.
Not too sure how this whole, "run for 10 hours" thing is gonna go down...

Day 1--May The Fat Be With You
OK, yesterday was the first "real" day of running for this shit show my friend  talked me into (and by "talked me into", I mean she sent me the link and said we should run it together.) signing up for.  The http://www.thenorthface.com/en_US/endurance-challenge/san-francisco-championship/?stop_mobi=yes
I've done two Ironman-distance races, eons ago, and love to trail run..But this was a level of ridiculousness I didn't think I had.
Last year I ran EVERY day Dec. 31, 2011 through Jan 1, 2013 inclusive, so the training consistency is there.  Now it's all about volume.
Oh, I'm also finishing my MBA at UCLA Anderson, Go Bruins!!, and trying to find a high-paying job, all within the next three months.  Wahoo!
So here's my update:
Ran around the UCLA Campus in 39:33.  I felt slow and fat.  This might be a theme. OK, off to run "two days in a row".  I'll update later.
