Little Scraps Of Holiness
Little Scraps Of Holiness
“They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.” – Luke 9:17
In Luke chapter 9, we read about Jesus feeding the 5000 with 2 fishes and 5 loaves of bread. Jesus blessed the meal and then handed out pieces to everyone. After they all got their fill, they picked up the scraps that were left over and they filled 12 wicker baskets.

No Stranger To The Pain
No Stranger To The Pain
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” – Psalm 46:1
It’s hard to understand, but God has empathy for us during our trials. He knows us inside and out. He knows our pain and our frustrations, but take heart. God says that we are not alone in our trials. When we accept Christ, He lives in us and through us. His Holy Spirit is with us as our comforter and He is a

Fix A Flat
“As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” – Proverbs 27:17
The other day, I was sitting at my desk and noticed a pick up truck had pulled quickly into our parking lot. The truck had gotten a flat tire and the driver wanted to get off the highway fast to avoid a potential collision. I the watched the gentleman who was driving the truck shaking his head while looking at his tools in the

Love Thy Neighbor
“For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” – Galatians 5:14
On any given Sunday, you can come to a Christian church in America and see some of the best and most Jesus-centric people you’d ever want to meet. It feels great when we’re there. However, I’ve seen those same people get red faced angry at supposed fellow Christians in the parking lot because

Basics of the Gospel
Basics of the Gospel
It’s hard to wrap your head around this whole “Jesus thing” sometimes. You can easily get caught up in all of the history in the Bible and some of the confusing rules in the Old Testament. You might even say, “How does that affect me now” or “What can I do to be on God’s good side?”
Here’s a hint: God doesn’t want you to literally get lost in the different translations of the Bible and He doesn’t

Jesus Is The Only Way To God
Jesus Is The Only Way To God
“And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.  For I determined not to know anything among you, except Jesus Christ, and him crucified.” – 1 Corinthians 2:1-2
It could be said that the Apostle Paul was the most religiously schooled person of all the apostles.  He learned under highly regarded Jewish leaders, read

Through The Eyes Of Jesus
Through The Eyes Of Jesus
“And why behold you the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but consider not the beam that is in your own eye?” – Matthew 7:3
During my long work commute a while back, I had a mustang whip past me going who knows how fast. Of course I immediately started chewing them out, even though they couldn’t hear me.  But then, just a few miles down the road, I got behind a big semi doing about 20 under

Be Ready and Willing
Be Ready and Willing
“It was not because of his sins or his parents’ sins,” Jesus answered. “This happened so the power of God could be seen in him.” – John 9:3
In the Gospel of John, Jesus and His disciples come across a man who was blind since birth. Jesus spat on the ground, made some clay, and placed it on the blind man’s eyes. Jesus then told the man to go and wash the clay off in the nearby pool of Siloam.

Peter The Rock
“And I say also to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” – Matthew 16:18
In the Bible, Peter was one of the closest disciples of Jesus Christ. Whenever Jesus would go somewhere to pray or to reveal something special to just a select few, Peter was right there at the top of the list. And when Jesus left His earthly

Live For Christ
“If we live, it’s to honor the Lord. And if we die, it’s to honor the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.” – Romans 14:8
Being a Christian isn’t all happy and rainbows and laughter. There are some great parts to it, but if you think that following Jesus means taking the easy road, you are sadly mistaken. Jesus Himself didn’t take the easy way out and you should be glad He

There’s No “I” In Love
There’s No “I” In Love
“Love thy neighbor as thyself.” – Mark 12:31
Love is the greatest of God’s creations. Out of love, God made Heaven, the earth, and you. He loves you and wants you to love Him in return. However, when we sin and do evil in our hearts, it takes some of our love and our heart away from God. We no longer have the ability to focus on the Lord and the things that He holds forever dear. We are instead

For The Greater Good
For The Greater Good
“So then, it was not you who sent me here, but God.” – Genesis 45:8
In the book of Genesis, we see a man named Joseph who’s brothers got so jealous of him that they sold him into slavery. You would think that was the end of the story, but God had something different in mind. Joseph was so blessed by God that he not only prospered, but he eventually became the second to Pharaoh and in charge of

What Will People Think?
What Will People Think?
“Where no oxen are, the crib is clean; but much increase is by the strength of the ox.” – Proverbs 14:4
There are times where people can be harsh or overly critical of your actions, your ideas, or even you as a person. I have experienced this at different jobs or stages of my life and it always got me down, until a good friend and mentor of mine said, “If they aren’t talking about you, you aren’t

Freedom Isn’t Free
“Being then set free from sin, you became the servants of righteousness.” – Romans 6:18
We are coming up on July 4th, which is when we in America celebrate our freedom and independence. It’s definitely a time where each one of us needs to take a close look at all of the liberties that we enjoy and realize that freedom isn’t free. It is bought and paid for by the blood of someone willing to fight

The Devil Is A Sharpshooter
The Devil Is A Sharpshooter
“Thy word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against thee” – Psalm 119:11
The world has a way of throwing things at you that are unexpected. I don’t know too many people who wake up in the morning and expect to have moments of rage, lust, or envy.  Those types of things just happen to all of us, but we do not need to be subject to them.
Sin is everywhere and there’s a bullet of sin with

Jesus Christ Is The Solution
Jesus Christ Is The Solution
God’s plan is for peace in your life, but in this crazy, confused, and fallen world, it seems like all we have are difficulties and pains. Once one goes away, another takes its place. It is the furthest thing from peace, but we need to realize that being at peace is not automatic.
Our problem is that we are separated from God. We are strangers in a strange land and that becomes more apparent with

The Teacher Wrote The Textbook
The Teacher Wrote The Textbook
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” – Psalm 119:105
In college, I had a teacher who wrote the textbook for his class. If we paid attention to that book, we passed the class with flying colors. If we didn’t, it was almost impossible to succeed.
So what about in the school of life? We need to take our cues from the Creator. God didn’t just make us and throw us out into the
