How to Distinguish Serious Femdom From Milder Mainstream Femdom
I believe I've found a way to settle this: a set of explicit criteria to decide what counts and what doesn't.
(Disclaimer: Objectively speaking, there are many great femdom works that don't qualify as "serious femdom". But I've chosen to draw a line in the sand to define "serious femdom" in a way that highlights a particular class of femdom situations. My apologies to all the femdom works I just called mild.)
(Disclaimer #2: This is probably by far the most abstractly analytic post I've ever made. If the idea of deconstructing fetishes seems weird and boring to you, I recommend you go look at another one of my posts instead.)
The two core components of what I call serious fictional femdom are cold sadism and divine humiliation. Both must be present. Well, it may acceptable for the divine humiliation to be present not in the story itself, but rather in the perception of the viewer/reader as they self-insert into the submissive character.
Allow me to explain in more detail, with examples.
The First Component: Cold Sadism
"Cold" isn't a synonym for unfriendly: the female dominant may still talk to the submissive like a normal person, or even in a friendly way. In many cases, she may appear calm or relaxed even when she dominates them, not vindictive like you'd expect someone to feel as justification for why they mistreat another "person". Not all cold sadism is mean.
Rather, in cold sadism, the female dominant in some sense regards a submissive as a lesser being, someone who fundamentally doesn't have the same level of personhood as herself. So the concept of cold here is like "remote" or "objectifying". The submissive exists at least partially as a natural receptacle for her sadism or dominance. They are a tool. Perhaps a toy to relieve her boredom, perhaps a servant, perhaps a piece of furniture, perhaps even an ideal "spouse" they can completely control.
I consider there to be two main types of cold sadism, empathetic and non-empathetic. Empathetic would be where she understands how to talk or interact with a submissive in a way that appeals to their submission and leads them to do what she wants; this is more associated with manipulative and charismatic dommes. Non-empathetic would refer to when her actions aren't meant to help induce the submissive's submission or match their mindset; this is more associated with forceful and ruthless dommes.
With non-empathetic cold sadism, the female dominant's brute force is typically used to dominate. In contrast, with empathetic cold sadism, her dominance itself is what draws out the submissive's desire to submit. Don't think that "empathetic" means that she controls the submissive with pleasure! While there will often be sex acts involved, they are just vehicles for sadomasochistic feelings, and pleasure itself is not anyone's primary motivator in this situation. A relationship in which a desire for pleasure directly produces "submission" does NOT qualify as cold sadism.
A very simplified definition of cold sadism would be a female dominant at some level recognizing a submissive as a lesser being and a receptacle for her sadism or dominance. And I'll repeat one last time: cold sadism has NO DIRECT CONNECTION to how cruel her sadism is, or how mean she is to the submissive. In fact, there are many cases of women who just do cruel acts but are not truly sadistic. Sadism defined meaningfully is deriving deep satisfaction or joy from one's cruelty. Oh, and cold sadism also doesn't mean a female dominant can't love the submissive. …The bottom line is that cruelty and the absence of love are conceptually separate from sadism.
The Second Component: Divine Humiliation
Divine humiliation is when the submissive has been reduced to what a coldly sadistic female dominant views them as: a lesser being. Their behavior/mentality indicates that they recognize their own inferiority to her in some way.
There are degrees of divine humiliation. On the weak end, it may just manifest in nervous insecurity, and they may even still act defiant toward her. On the strong end, they may feel craven, miserable, or terrified of her, and it's possible they have even calmly accept their status as someone whose will is subject to hers. With the latter, the distance between the two is like the distance between a goddess and a sinner. That's why I chose the word "divine".
The difference between humiliation and divine humiliation is this: humiliation is a broad term that can imply any kind of denigration (ex. Merriam-Webster: "[reduced] to a lower position in one's own eyes or others' eyes") or refer to a vague emotion (ex. CED: "the feeling of being ashamed or losing respect for yourself"). Divine humiliation, on the other hand, specifically relatively contrasts the female dominant and the submissive, and may be just as much a consequence of her rise in status as it is their reduction in status. It's as much about her divinity as their inferiority. Worship could also be considered a form of divine humiliation.
Divine humiliation is all about the way the submissive is depicted: it's easiest to see if you look at their thoughts, words, or social behaviors, but even their body language or physical situation can imply that they have been divinely humiliated. This is often very subtle, and you can often detect it by looking at the submissive's broader character arc; a submissive who's forced to change his mind, apologize, kneel, or otherwise humbled may have been subjected to divine humiliation. In contrast, if the submissive has a generic insensitive harem protagonist-type personality, and their most common emotion is surprise like "Whoa, I'm being dominated!?" then they probably haven't experienced divine humiliation (and in fact, they may not even respect the female lead!).
A very simplified definition of divine humiliation would be a submissive at some level recognizing the inherent inferiority of their being, relative to a female dominant. She is above them in some way… more beautiful, more divine, more admirable. Whereas they are more ugly, more sinful, more flawed/screwed-up.
How Cold Sadism and Divine Humiliation Are Conveyed
Serious femdom exists at the nexus of pure submissive masochism and pure dominant sadism. Just as the true power of a female dominant is expressed when a submissive fully appreciates and amplifies her dominance in their heart (divine humiliation), so does true submission exist when the female dominant freely wields that dominance to control them (cold sadism).
So, how do you recognize these two components in fiction? Well, they may be conveyed either visually (largely through posture and facial expressions, and situations that imply each person's attitude) or verbally (through text).
Visually, femdom artists like Sardax and nanshakh are known to feature dommes whose facial expressions are deeply calm, their bodies beautiful, often appearing high-status, sometimes having the atmosphere of a superior otherworldly being, be it holy or demonic. The male submissive characters, in contrast, are weak or ugly, awkward, seemingly ashamed of themselves, and often not clothed (see: CFNM). Any of these components could suffice to subtly convey cold sadism. On the extreme end of this is the classic Japanese femdom novel Kachikujin Yapoo, which depicts an elaborate sci-fi setting in which men are transformed into specialized furniture, their bodies deformed and warped into living objects like chairs or toilets, that forms part of the foundation of the matriarchal aliens' society. This artistic concept of men being transformed into subtly grotesque furniture utilized by beautiful women has been influential in femdom art.
Verbally, I've seen 2 major methods. The first is kotobazeme (verbal humiliation) by the female dominant. Her words can be used to express her confidence and understanding of the relationship between herself and the submissive. The second is a psychological narrative, most often employed by male submissive protagonists in fiction which supports narrative elements (like novels, manga and CG sets, games, and visual novels).
On a personal note: I've always felt that psychological narratives with a submissive protagonist are clearest way to identify serious femdom. If you can directly see a description of the protagonist's change in mindset, their debasement and recognition of the female dominant as fundamentally superior, then you know you have divine humiliation, and often it's accompanied by cold sadism. That said, everyone has their own cognitive dispositions that affect how they enjoy their fetishes; I know many people who above all appreciate certain visual depictions they consider serious femdom, and they don't find verbal fetishism in any way engaging. In fact, those of us who enjoy erotic literature are a minority… Just as how people who enjoy 2D femdom art are also a minority, compared to the many people who watch femdom videos on sites like Pornhub.
How To Tell If Femdom Is Serious
I came up with some rules of thumb to make it easier to judge if a work is "serious femdom".
Cold Sadism Rule: Does the female dominant possess cold sadism, at some level recognizing a submissive as a lesser being and a receptacle for her sadism or dominance? NO -> FAIL. Divine Humiliation Rule: Does the submissive experience divine humiliation, feeling that they have been reduced to a lesser being compared to the female dominant, perhaps even feeling like their will should be subject to hers? NO -> FAIL. DHR Alternative Simplified: Is it true that (a) the submissive isn't in any way humiliated at the start of the story, and (b) the submissive's personality and demeanor around the female dominant don't change at all (static character development)? YES -> FAIL. [Possible Exception: If the viewer/reader personally feels a sense of divine humiliation, and they self-insert into the submissive's role, you could say that divine humiliation is present.] Guideline #1: Does the female dominant fundamentally only ever treat the submissive as someone who she wants something from, rather than as a submissive being she can make do whatever she wants? YES -> FAIL. Guideline #2: Is the submissive primarily manipulated by a desire for pleasure, rather than directly by the female dominant's sadism or dominance? YES -> FAIL.
Examples of Serious Femdom
Serious Femdom Manga: • [doskoinpo] Almost all works (Empathetic) - Women view men as toys. While the men are manipulated by pleasure and just act passive for its sake at first, by the end of the story, they almost always serve or even worship the women out of complete submission. It's perhaps exactly this transition from "not serious" to serious that helps make doskoinpo's works so broadly popular. • [Mame] Stigma (Non-Empathetic), Double S Size (Mix) • [Yamahata Rian] Shihai no Gakusha (Non-Empathetic), Tensoushugi no Kuni (Non-Empathetic) • [Dining] All works (Non-Empathetic) - All about naturally sadistic girls debasing and dehumanizing their victims for fun and satisfaction. • [Clover] Naburi series (Empathetic) - A popular charismatic girl who does whatever she wants with a timid and obedient boy who's enthralled by her from the start. • [Kakizaki Kousei] Mesuiki ga Gimuzukerareta Yasashii series (Empathetic) - Set in a world where mesuiki, prostate stimulation performed in a sadistic/dominating way, helps reinforce a status quo of female superiority over males. The female leads generally subscribe to this and succesfully train the men to obediently accept their place by the end of the story. The "Shakai" chapters invert this premise but ultimately still end the same way. Some chapters are romantic, some not. • [Sugar Milk] DROPOUT and Chameleon from the military series in G4M - Two of the four chapters in this series count as serious femdom. The women in this military series all treat the men as prostitutes, and the men for the most part are despondent and obedient. But treating a man as a prostitute doesn't necessitate sadism, and that's why I didn't include Candy. Despondence and obedience don't necessitate reverence toward the woman either, so I didn't include trochos which feels more like a healthy role reversal romance. • [Gin] Some works - The women frequently treat the men as toys and do whatever they want with them. Albeit the men don't really ever seem upset by that treatment; many of Gin's works also have silent submissive protagonists, and may only qualify for divine humiliation with the help of the "reader self-insert exception" I mentioned. • [Kokuryuugan] All G4M works, Midara na Kaori, Chouhatsusuru Ashi, some others (Mix) - Kokuryuugan often depicts girls who handle men with ruthlessly efficiency, and men who find themselves destroyed in some sense by those girls. • [Ahobaka] Sweet Tongue (Empathetic), Kochou no Dokumitsu (Empathetic) - Both stories in which a sadistic monster girl meets her prey, I mean, a human man, who realizes his place beneath her and embraces his own social downfall. • [Akazawa Red] Okinodoku desu ga Bouken no Sho wa Kiete Shimaimashita (Non-Empathetic), Oishii Gohan no Aru Machi (Non-Empathetic) - Ahobaka-esque stories of a human man who underestimates a predatory monster girl and ends up falling even further while her power is boosted. • [Anmo Night] Comic Maso works (Non-Empathetic) - Creative and forceful BDSM situations with men whose statuses change completely. • [Ichiko] Dog Breeders! (Mix) - This series of stories about rich girls training men to be "dogs" who perform tricks is quintessential serious femdom, with basically psychopathic dommes and men whose mentalities are transformed after being trained by these beauties. • [Ichiko] Akogare no from G4M Vol. 15 - An edge case. The submissive falls in love with the dominatrix from the start, wanting to be whipped by her. When she realizes that he can take her whip, she becomes incredibly excited and decides to train him to be her perfect slave, which leaves me with the impression of cold sadism, although it isn't 100% clear from the narrative and only applies to the last couple of pages anyway.
Not Serious Femdom Manga (But Still Great): • [Dhibi] Almost all works - The poster child for gentle femdom with cute submissive men. While it's true that the women are naturally sadistic and at times forcefully drive the submissives crazy with their actions, they ultimately treat the submissives humanely; the submissive's emotional experience is always focused on, and I never have a sense that their personhood takes a backseat to their status as sadism receptacles. It's incredibly sexy stuff, but starts and ends with its focus on a happy relationship. The submissives may look like their status has been compromised, but at the end of the day they aren't divinely humiliated, they're unbound and hugged. • [HANAbi] All works - Hanabi is know for beautiful art and sexy situations. The women are incredibly sexual and love to play with the men's bodies. However, they are just engaging in sex acts with a dominant atmosphere, not truly dehumanizing the submissive; their attention is always on the men's pleasure and his various cute reactions. Meanwhile, the men just accept the pleasure mostly wordlessly, so they aren't truly humiliated. Even manga like S Debut which feature pegging ultimately have this kind of atmosphere • [Akazawa Red] Bouken no Sho series - Just about succubi preying upon boys, who they manipulate with pleasure and slowly kill. It's incredibly cruel; they're definitely cold sadists. But their victims are just stupid boys who basically from start to finish are just lost in the pleasure and easily brainwashed to offer up their own lives happily without self-awareness; they never experience divine humiliation. Well, the "reader self-insert exception" could potentially still allow the Bouken no Sho series to qualify as serious femdom. • [Gin] Some works - Oftentimes, the women are pro/working dommes (S jou) who are naturally sadistic, but they treat the men with utmost courtesy as proper customers, in which case it's hard to say this is truly cold sadism. And some of the men, despite their obedience and courtesy, don't seem like they have been cowed or humiliated. • [Akai Mato] Shasei Kanri no Kankei - Technically a CG set rather than a manga. I wanted to talk about this as an example of excellent femdom that also includes heavy situations and clear sadomasochism, but doesn't quite fit the definition of serious femdom here. While the submissive male lead is thoroughly trained by denying his ejaculations, the desire for pleasure coming to override everything else, and Yuki is deeply obsessed with that, it's above all a relationship founded upon that, as the critical link between them. Yuki treats him humanely, even letting him choose to cancel their relationship, which in this multi-end CG set leads to a bad end in which they're both unhappy. When he streams his own ejaculation and ruins his own life, his mind is completely focused on pleasure, and not only does he never mention Yuki, he doesn't actually debase himself as a whole. And neither does she debase him; their final conversation in the good end shows that they're a loving couple who respect each other's needs, albeit his previous life is over and he's been brainwashed by her ejaculation management. You can still easily argue by looking at his circumstances that the reader self-insert exception lets this qualify as divine humiliation, and it's true that she treats him as a receptacle for her sadism (the second part of the definition of "cold sadism"), but she never sees him as a lesser being (the first part).
Serious Femdom Games: • [Bo Wei & Koda] Tower of Trample - The heroines are all egocentric women who look down on the protagonist as a weakling who can at best amuse them, and their routes (post-victory expansions) written by Koda clearly depict the protagonist Ethan embracing humiliated subservience to them. The way that Ethan's personality transforms from heroic and defiant to craven and obedient, and the player can pursue scene lines as shallowly or deeply as they want depending on how comfortable they are with divine humiliation, makes this a broadly appealing game that remains by far the most popular English language femdom RPG. • [Msize] All games - Even Rium's earlier games, which didn't incorporate as explicit themes of female superiority, still depicted heroines whose bodies and auras inspired divine humiliation in the protagonist, and who instinctively discovered that the natural order between them was her in control and him at her command. It's even more obvious in later games which show the heroines openly embracing female superiority and declaring that males worshipping females is part of humanity's genetic makeup, a kind of sci-fi theme that was introduced in Shiritsu Onnanoko-sama Gakuen. In some of the routes early on, it almost seems like the heroines just control the protagonist with pleasure, but that always evolves into a D/s relationship.
Not Serious Femdom Games (But Still Great): • [Dieselmine] Okasare Yuusha - This is a good monster girl VN with sadistic heroines. However, it still lack cold sadism, specifically failing guideline #1 about how they conceptualize the submissive. The heroines just view the hero as potential prey and make it their objective to rape him according to their monster instincts. Rather than saying he's a receptacle for the girls' sadism, it's more accurate to say he's a receptacle for their desire to realize their sadistic monster instincts. You could also compare it to Shasei Kanri no Kankei where the beginning and end of Yuki's sadism is her desire to completely control a boy's orgasms and drive him crazy, but outside of that she doesn't treat him sadistically or demean him in any way. Most "single encounter" monster girls in femdom games are like this, horny and wanting something from the hero, but not developed enough as characters to qualify for cold sadism; such heroines also might only have 1 sex scene, which makes it hard to judge whether the protagonist has truly experienced divine humiliation or just lost their composure briefly due to disadvantageous circumstances.
Why I Consider The Term "Serious Femdom" Meaningful
I want to explain this clearly, especially to anyone who hasn't already picked up on which kind of femdom fans tend to like "serious femdom" more.
There are all kinds of femdom fans. Femdom is a meta-fetish, after all. Anyone who loves situations they associate with femdom deserves to be called a femdom fan. For example, you can love femdom because your main fetish is futa on male, and femdom has a lot of that. Same for giantesses. Even if you're not into BDSM, you could like femdom because you think that assertive women are sexy, and you love to see them lewdly reverse rape men. Women into femdom usually like it either because they self-insert into the dominant female, or because they're into lezdom and self-insert as the submissive.
That said, a lot of us are just submissive + attracted to women. That's a key. So submissiveness matters to us. Of course, the majority of femdom fans enjoy lighthearted domination or reverse rape. But a significant number of us appreciate submission of a more dramatic variety, the kind that emphasizes control, sadomasochism, and "heavy" fetishes. So yes, I defined "serious femdom" for our sake. To define the kind of femdom we care about most. The kind that fits closer to the stereotypes of dominatrixes that pervade Western representations of femdom.
Actually, we "serious femdom" fans probably don't have a stellar reputation. After all, for years, many of us have said that we're "real" femdom fans, and started arguments with everyone else about whether their femdom is good enough for us. In the process, I've seen people constantly employ over-generalizations and misguidedly associate specific heavy fetishes with the qualities they desire. This post is my attempt to say, to any of my fellow "serious femdom" fans who will listen: hey there, I've put some thought into this subject over the years too, and would love if you considered whether my ideas are useful to you. …I also think the term "serious femdom" is at least less presumptive than "real femdom".
It's understandable to have trouble pinning down exactly what "serious femdom" is… because look how freaking complicated everything I've been saying in this post is. And it's not like this post will suddenly make it easy to judge what's "serious femdom" or not, either. Because trying to apply this definition is a complex analytic process. In fact, I'm sure that most people won't care for it, and just continue to utilize their own less precise personal guidelines to try to figure out what femdom they like. Such as whether the women remove their clothes or not, or whether there's vaginal intercourse, or whether all females are superior to all males, or whether the submissive's pleasure is focused upon. (These are all real examples of guidelines I've seen people come up with.)
Final Thoughts
This post is my attempt to put some of my intuitive determinations into words. I'm sure it has flaws; I uncovered countless ones as I composed it, and had to rewrite sections several times.
There's probably a simpler, more approachable way to define what I mean by "serious femdom" that requires less focus on nitty-gritty details. For example, maybe a way that lays out which fetishes or tropes lean more toward being serious. Typical reverse rape (and some of its major subtypes like monster girl, succubus, oneshota) tends to be less in line with serious femdom. But it's not like a submissive's pleasure is diametrically opposed to serious femdom; simultaneous increases in pleasure and submission are perfectly valid, because pleasure can cloud the submissive's mind/judgment, and motivate them to accept their true self. It's complicated…
Maybe I'll make improvements/revisions to this post, at some point in the future. But for now, I'm done with it. I welcome any feedback.
Side Talk
My next post is 90% likely to be me talking about a certain subset of Japanese femdom RPGs. In fact, this post about 'serious femdom' is part of the groundwork for it. But I'm still not through the preliminary research phase for that... I want to play through the rest of Omanko Samurai's works, and maybe a few others. Hopefully it won't take months.
Msize announced a new android-themed game on Fanbox called Sukeberoid Mai! It's currently still very early in development, so the teaser he released (mostly text) is still locked behind a paywall. I wouldn't be surprised if summer 2025 is too soon for it to come out.
Coffee (formerly known as Mame, of Girls forM fame) has an anime adaptation of his non-adult "street dancing drama" manga Wandance coming out in 2025 and animated by Madhouse. Personally, I can't look at this art style and not feel femdom vibes, so I'll probably be fantasizing quite a bit while I check it out.
Lately, the credit card censorship stuff has been gaining more mainstream attention thanks to the VISA Japan head's brazen honesty and Japanese politicians getting involved, leading to some reasonably well-known YouTubers like ChibiReviews covering it. While there still seems to be a degree of misunderstanding about the roots of the issue, for the most part the people covering it are saying things I like and agree with. For better or for worse, the world is changing. Have a great New Year in advance.

The Sublime Femdom of "Little Tyrant"
Preface: This is a review post about a non-porn, largely non-femdom story that deeply appeals to me personally, in part due to its major femdom themes. But don't expect fap material! It's a Chinese xuanhuan cultivation novel that was also adapted into a webtoon. If you're still curious, please hit the jump and brace yourself for an enthusiastic wall of text, sprinkled with beautiful art to try to help retain your attention.
Introduction I: A Dream of Mine
You can find countless varieties of fictional femdom these days. For example, there's drawn/rendered femdom porn in the form of comics/CG sets/games/still art, which is the main subject of this blog, i.e. "2D femdom". There's erotic literature, and voice dramas. There's a subset of photographic femdom porn that constitutes fiction. On top of that, a lot of fictional femdom eroticism is not porn: it's mass-marketed and often high-budget. Like scenes in Hollywood movies or music videos that involve sadistic women. Or anime with kinky dommes, often thrown in for comic relief.
All of us have different fictional/idealistic preferences and cognitive predispositions, which influence which mediums we take an interest in, and how we like to see our femdom fetishism represented in them.
Let me tell you about one of my dreams. For a while now, I've wanted to see a story with a plot that's genuinely interesting, and enjoyable in its own right… but with a protagonist who's unapologetically submissive, and a heroine who's dominant and for whom that dominance is respected and embraced within the work itself, who are romantically requited. That's right, I want a good piece of fiction to depict a satisfying femdom romance while also not having a romance focus. The femdom should be a feature, not a crutch to attract a niche to read a story they otherwise wouldn't.
We've at least moved past the old era where major 2D franchises' fictional characters could never have legitimized D/s kinks. For example, there's Darkness from KonoSuba or even better Tio from Arifureta. But those two are still far from my ideal, not least because they're cases of maledom rather than femdom. And editorial censorship is still rampant; such openly sadomasochistic lead characters could only be born because both of those series started as web novels, a medium which pushes the boundaries of acceptable expression.
Introduction II: The Core Premises are Regression and Cultivation
Now then, the subject of this article is a web novel called Little Tyrant Doesn't Want to Meet with a Bad End (Chinese name: 恶役少爷不想要破灭结局), authored by Bells on Cat Ears (猫耳铃铛).
Little Tyrant, which I'll call LTBE from now on, is a medieval fantasy web novel in which magic and even deities exist. The male lead is a 10-year-old boy named Roel Ascart who lives in a medieval fantasy world, and suddenly awakens to memories of his past life: he was a college student from our world, and in our world he played a ren'ai game called Eyes of the Chronicler… and bizarrely, this world is the very world of that game. Based on Roel's knowledge of the game's plot, he knows that the side character Roel who he's currently reincarnated as is a mean-spirited brat of a noble family which loses everything; after that, he joins an evil cult, and years later is justifiably murdered by the game's heroines. Roel doesn't understand why he's in this odd situation, but the memories of the "game" match up to this world, so he fears for his life. Thus, he desperately tries to proactively change his fate, which means acting differently toward others and taking his life more seriously.
Over the course of the full 670-chapter, more than 1 million-word epic novel that spans many years, he succeeds beyond his expectations, though he encounters almost equal adversity. He tries to make the heroines he fears "not hate" him (result: they fall in love with him, and vice-versa!), and become "strong enough to survive on his own" (result: he becomes badass!). This much isn't a spoiler; the fact that LTBE is a harem romance and has a conditionally overpowered protagonist are core selling points for this kind of web novel. The real pleasure is seeing how everything plays out. The story is quite complex and dramatic at times, with constant near-death experiences for Roel.
LBTE is both a regression novel and a cultivation novel. I'm not sure if you, reader, have read many regression novels or cultivation novels before. Cultivation refers to a power level trope in which strength is divided into "realms", higher realms are reached through diligent and methodical strategy, breakthroughs often require one to risk their life, and the strongest people have lengthy lifespans and god-like powers. Regression refers to a story about a person who time leaps to the past to redo their (or someone else's) life and fix mistakes. (You may recognize this specific kind of regression plot from "villainess" anime like Hamefura or 7th Time Loop; the regression of a spoiled young noble is a popular premise.) Whether you will like LBTE ultimately mostly depends on whether you will like either or both of these novel genres. The femdom is far from the core appeal. If you try it read LBTE just for the femdom and don't like the rest of it, you probably won't make it very far in!
Now that I'm about to talk about the femdom, let me make this completely clear. As I stated in my preface, this novel is not femdom BDSM porn. There's no pegging or chastity cages. There's no 24/7 D/s relationships or even outright submission. You shouldn't have excessively high expectations. However, LBTE still has what I consider the most unapologetic femdom dynamic of any mainstream story I've ever read. And the story is actually good on top of that (if you like this kind of novel)! That's why I praise it as "sublime" in the title of this post.
Dominant and Controlling Heroines, and a Submissive Hero
LBTE is a little different from a typical power fantasy. It's not a story where the male lead is OP and the heroines are his sycophants.
The physical dynamic: For one, all four of the heroines are significantly stronger than Roel in a conventional context. Technically, if Roel is in perfect form and goes all-out and unleashes his trump cards in a battle to the death, he's stronger than the heroines. However, that kind of heroic scenario that makes Roel looks cool only happens at climactic moments. For the vast majority of the story, Roel either is forced to hide his power, he can't tap into it, or most often of all, he's in a severely weakened state as a result of his power's backlash. The four heroines, on the other hand, are absolute geniuses who possess combat ability that won't lose to anyone their age. They also wield greater wealth and/or influence than Roel. That means that for the entire novel, the heroines are almost always free to physically do whatever they want with Roel, and it's difficult for him to physically resist them. He often has to negotiate, or play on their emotions (they do that to him more than he does it to them, though!) if he wants to evade their advances.
The personality dynamic: Roel is a massive tsundere. He has a lot to worry about, and many secrets. Therefore, he tries to keep his distance from the heroines, aided by his sharp tongue and self-confident demeanor, despite how much he cares about them. However, they don't let him. They quickly realize he's all bark and no bite. He can't bring himself to ever say a mean word to them, and rarely ever pushes them away when they start to be intimate with him, unless it's in public and they refuse to let go of him quickly. They frequently play on his emotions, and he's even described as "weak to their tears". The heroines also often flirt with him forwardly in ways that make him actually blush. The novel isn't subtle about this dynamic, either. The narrative states that "the Ascarts' men seemed to have an inclination toward dominant women" in chapter 328, and "in view of the Ascarts’ odd preference for dominant women, Nora and Charlotte had paid particular attention to Lilian ever since enrollment" in chapter 332.
Yes, he's whipped, he's the bottom rung in this novel's love polygon, and I love it. That's just the kind of femdom hero I idealize: someone who doesn't have a subconscious insecurity about the fact that the girl they love is strong and assertive, and thus doesn't try to suppress her dominant demeanor, but instead plays the perfect counterpart to it, legitimizing and affirming it. There are many male leads in other stories who, when faced with a domineering heroine, will suddenly act in a way that sweeps her off her feet, and causes her sadistic smile to transform into a maidenly blush, as if her dominance was just a bluff or thin pretense to cover her true personality. I assure you, LBTE is not like that.
From here on, I'll talk about the heroines in detail, and you should expect SPOILERS. If you want to try this novel yourself first, I recommend that you skip down to the section "Where To Read It" instead.
Nora Xeclyde, the Sadistic Saintess

Nora Xecylde, the princess and future pope of the Saint Mesit Theocracy, is by far the most dominant heroine in LBTE, and also the only one of the four heroines explicitly called "sadistic" in the narrative. She experiences joy from abusing and trampling on others. In the original timeline that only Roel knows, she had to hide her true self for the sake of political stability, but she unleashed these cruel tendencies in combat as a way to relieve stress, which led to her being famous as the "Bloodthirsty Angel" who torturously butchered her enemies on the battlefield. That history changes when she meets Roel, the son of a noble who's part of her father's political faction, and she quickly discovers that is somehow aware of her true personality that she'd tried to hide. After realizing that he's someone who can keep a secret, she relishes the chance to toy with him and express her unusual desires; she's amused by him, especially his fear of her. Her sadism is also how she expresses her love, and over the course of the story, the more she truly cares for him, the more bullying him truly grants her happiness.
Nora's character is quite deep, and she's by far the best "femdom heroine" in LBTE. My brief summaries here won't do justice to all of a lengthy development she receives; you'll need to read the novel itself for that. Over the course of the story, Roel frequently complains about how perverted she is and expresses aversion to being the subject to her sadism, but from the start he acknowledges and accepts it completely. In one occasion where she expresses self-doubt about how her perversions make it hard for him to have a relationship with her, he vehemently corrects her and tells she shouldn't change, that her nobility, spirit of self-sacrifice, kindness, and sadism are all irreplaceable parts of who she is. She frequently talks as if he is already her property, or says that she wishes he would lie down and let her step on him, tie him up, and so on. On special occasions when he wants to make her happy, he'll even proactively cooperate with her wishes. Of course, her magically cultivated physique is superior to his, so he can't physically resist her anyway.
Early on, Roel and Nora meet Victoria Xecylde and Ponte Ascarte, distant relatives of their respective families who are also in a romantic relationship. What's incredible is that those two also have a somewhat femdom dynamic, and the story deeply emphasizes this. Ponte's powers actually have a ritualistic penalty which requires him to keep journals of his embarrassing thoughts, show them to at least one other person, and make sure they are never destroyed. Since he's Victoria's bodyguard, he ends up having to show her his journals in which he fawns over how cute she is and writes other fetishistic thoughts about her… despite being technically a married man (purely political and loveless; they haven't seen each other for many years). Victoria uses this as blackmail material to keep him under her thumb, and constantly teases him; she's also attracted to him, and tries to persuade him to elope with her (and eventually they do!). One pair of sentences I particularly like: "The two princesses of the Xeclydes displayed their dominant personalities, leaving the two subdued Ascart boys looking at one another. They suddenly realized just how low of a standing they seemed to have before these two women." And take a look at this humorous excerpt:
Roel didn’t just look at their interactions but the atmosphere around them and the subtle gestures they made too. While Victoria had hidden it well, from time to time, she would still exude a certain disposition that he was deeply familiar with. He shot a glance toward the well brought up Nora, and he suddenly understood where her sadistic tendencies had originated from. It’s a hereditary trait that shows up once every few generations, huh? Perhaps it was because she had sensed Roel’s thoughts, but Nora suddenly turned her head over and stared at him. Under her intent gaze, he quickly averted his eyes, only to be met with Ponte’s gaze right after. The two boys of the Ascart House exchanged looks, and they suddenly felt a sense of camaraderie with one another. It was a feeling of deep connection created by mutual sympathy for one another, due to suffering through the same plight. They were like oppressed peasants ready to raise up in arms against the Xeclyde girls… … though it was not as if they would really dare to do so. Their rebellion would probably just be quelled in an instant.
Most of all, I love the way Roel and Nora's relationship evolves after her second major character arc, a life-and-death crisis which is the most memorable arc to me. I'll hold back on details, but in that arc, he crafts a special magical tool for her, one which saves her from despair and also reaffirms the deep connection between the two of them. However, after the arc is over, it becomes clear that Nora now has full mastery of that tool, and can unexpectedly use it to control and dominate Roel. It's romantic and endearing how he finds himself unwilling to complain at having it used on him after she reminds him of the circumstances of the gift.
Perhaps to counterbalance her sadism, Nora is actually the main heroine who treats Roel with the most respect. She's the only one of the four who never outright kidnaps him.
Alicia Ascart, the Clingy Stepsister
Alicia is adopted by Roel's father shortly before the story of LBTE begins, and is a pretty but otherwise seemingly ordinary girl two years younger than her new stepbrother. However, Roel knows from the plot of the game Eyes of the Chronicler that Alicia is actually incredibly talented as a transcendent (magic user), and would become a church-affiliated assassin after the "side character" Roel Ascart mistreats her. And so, he's determined to make sure he treats her well in this life. But Roel accidentally dotes on his sister so hard that she falls obsessively in love with him. After that, she becomes a master schemer, and pretends to be a meek, innocent, and gentle little sister so that he will completely let down his guard around her.

I'll take this opportunity to provide an important disclaimer: if you're the kind of person who applies real-world psychological models to the behavior of regressors toward other young non-regressors and often finds it problematic, you may want to stay away from LBTE. Furthermore, if you don't like the idea of a young girl who isn't even double digits yet lusting after her brother who's barely older than her, you may want to stay away too! Yes, this novel is like that at times. Of course, she's just a kid, so there's no actual sexual acts or explicit descriptions, just, uh, a very physical obsession with him. She's seriously a horny kid. The webtoon adaptation (more on that later) actually chooses to turn a 1-year time skip into a 3-year time skip, and gives the heroines very full figures, and I think Alicia might be half the reason why. But anyway, back to the subject of femdom.
Alicia not only keeps her affections a secret from Roel, so when she's physically intimate with him, he believes that she's just overly attached to her brother. And she keeps her power level a secret too, so that when she casts spells to send him into a deep sleep to stop his resistance when she sneaks into his bed at night, he doesn't suspect that she's the reason for his suddenly sleepiness. At one point, she does this when they're on a road trip, but screws up, so Roel's guards mistake her for a succubus-like monster and almost attack her. In any case, while he's in a magic-induced sleep, she will often kiss him a lot, and her behaviors both in the day and in the night are specifically designed by her to try to make him emotionally dependent on her and unable to live without her or unable to do what would make her unhappy. Later on in the novel, she uses her power as a kind of magical aphrodisiac, and she eventually secretly employs actual aphrodisiacs (just once, though; Roel does NOT appreciate this, and makes that clear). At one point, Alicia gives romantic advice to another woman and reveals a bit too much of her character in the process:
“When it comes to quickly advancing a relationship, the best way is still to rely on drugs.” “Ah? Drugs?” Chris was horrified to hear a potential criminal plan coming from a young woman's mouth. What further frightened her was how naturally Alicia mentioned it, as if it was perfectly normal. “That's right. Lord Brother is a smart person, but he's innocent when it comes to relationships. As long as I can 'secure' him, it would be my victory.” “No, I mean, won't most people get angry at something like that?” “Of course. Lord Brother would definitely get angry, but I'm not afraid. I just have to burst into tears, and that would soften his heart right away.” This woman is terrifying!
All of the Ascart family's servants (mostly maids) are Alicia's allies, who secretly support her in her efforts to advance her relationship with her brother; the plan is to eventually have her father un-adopt her, and then re-marry into the Ascart house formally, which would be societally acceptable. Her Origin Attribute that forms the basis of her transcendent powers is Perfection, which means that she grows in power the more she engages in efforts to be what she considers 'perfect'. And she chooses to be the 'perfect younger sister' and the 'perfect wife'. Alicia's personality is very yandere-ish, as she was the first heroine to meet him and wants to monopolize him; she's sweet to him, but cold and ruthless to those she views as her enemies. Well, later on in the novel, there's a major shake-up related to the secret of her bloodline, which leads her into brief dramatic confrontation with Roel, so it's not as if that coldness is never directed at him, either.
Charlotte Sorofya, the Merchant Heiress

The first scene with Charlotte introduces her as a high status young lady who uses her divination abilities to declare that a businessman associated with her family had become involved in gambling, and cut him off financially. Her ability to see through things and her calm personality and leadership abilities appear intimidating at first. That said, it's soon revealed that her racist mother abandoned her because Charlotte has some elven blood, and she yearns to have a family that truly loves her. Her Loyalty Origin Attribute also causes her to be unable to betray whoever she falls in love with, so she's clearly heroine material. In fact, for the most part, she's the least dominant of the four heroines. She never purposefully humiliates him like Nora, and never helps herself to his body while he can't resist like Alicia.
However, it's exactly because she is so sincere that she can without hesitation commit crimes to try to requite her love for Roel. And her gentle demeanor just makes it scarier. Charlotte's first character arc and second character arc happen one after the other… because she falls in love with him in her first arc, and kidnaps him in her second arc! This is still probably the second most memorable arc of the entire novel to me. She "stealth kidnaps" him such that he himself doesn't realize that he has been kidnapped even weeks later, coming up with various excuses and lies that let her take him further and further away from his home. When he's finally about to realize the truth of his situation, she suddenly asks him in a very meek way if he will forgive her if she does something wrong, and when he reluctantly says that he will, the next moment, she knocks him unconscious! And when he next wakes up, he finds himself in her bed in the neighboring nation. What's unique is that while she does all this out of a determination to marry him (well, she's also afraid that she'll be separated from him and thus unable to continue to provide him with critical medical treatment), she's still afraid of him hating her, so she comes up with all kinds of ways to ply him, which includes bribes. As the future leader of a nation ruled by merchants, her personal wealth in unimaginable, and she doesn't hesitate to offer to pay Roel for his forgiveness, and since he's desperate for money for various reasons, he always accepts. Roel is also familiar with the characteristics of her Origin Attribute and knows that she will always love him, so as the person who caused her to fall in love, he also feels some responsibility for her extreme behavior.

At the start of Charlotte's first arc, Alicia actually schemes with Nora and the Ascart family servants to frame Roel as a cruel womanizer, all to make Charlotte lose interest in him. For a while, they actually succeed, and the result is that for a period of time Charlotte looks at Roel, as well as speaks to him, like he is human trash. Her behavior honestly felt like femdom fanservice to me… I've actually fantasized about this kind of plot device, where a character is framed and it causes a heroine who could've loved him to despise him instead, in a femdom context many times. Also, while Charlotte is for the most part hands-off and gentle, she's not above teasing Roel either:
“How do you intend to measure me without using a measuring tape?” asked Roel in confusion. There was a gleam in Charlotte's eyes as she raised her hand and waved it about. “I'll be using this.” Under the dim lighting of the Dancing Butterfly Manor, a faint blush could be seen forming on Charlotte's beautiful face. She softly placed her dainty hands on Roel's chest and used her fingers to measure the breadth of Roel's chest. Roel felt awkward at the situation. The two of them were so close that all it took was a step forward to embrace her soft body. He could feel Charlotte's warm breath tickling his neck, and it sent a shudder to run through his body. “Ah. Did I tickle you by accident?” asked Charlotte. “No, it's fine.” Roel turned his head away and refuted her question. Charlotte stared at him intently for a while when realization suddenly struck her. Her lips curled upward. Instead of taking a step back, she took another step forward. “Is that so? I'll continue then,” said Charlotte with a teasing note to her voice. She placed her finger on Roel's chest once more and resumed her measurement of his chest, but her focus wasn't on the measurement this time around. She kept fidgeting during her measurement, causing her body to constantly lean in and bump into Roel's. … On the other hand, Charlotte was getting more and more absorbed in her teasing, especially when she noticed the gradual reddening of Roel's cheeks. It took her all she had to hold back her laughter, but it still didn't take long for him to catch onto her prank.
But for the most part, Charlotte does not express much dominance compared to the other heroines.
Lilian Ackermann, the Cool Senior

There's no doubt that Lilian is an imperious and authoritative character. After all, she's been in ruthless competition with her brothers for the imperial throne since she was a child. She doesn't have anyone she can trust. Overall, she's incredibly smart, powerful, and competent, and Roel is a noble a nation which is her empire's chief rival, so from the start of their relationship as fellow students, she takes pains to not be friendly with her junior Roel. That said, she and Roel eventually discover a certain mysterious connection that leads them to trust each another, but you'll have to read the novel itself if you want more details on that.
However, what truly amazes me about Lilian is her second arc and its massive oneshota energy. (This is another one of those arcs where my above disclaimer about people sensitive to "problematic" content in fantasy stories applies! Then again, if you can't tolerate lowkey oneshota you probably can't tolerate half of Japanese femdom, so you're probably? not a reader of this blog...) Simply put, Roel is magically transformed into a little kid as a side effect of his powers. This not only makes him physically smaller and weaker, it somehow makes him more emotionally unstable. Oh, and his clothes don't fit him anymore, so Lilian initially offers him a used towel that smells like her to wrap around his waist. Meanwhile, another character advises and tempts Lilian (who has just fallen in love with Roel) to try to take advantage of this situation to cement her relationship with him.

Yep, that's correct, this whole arc is about the heroine scheming to seduce a pseudo-shota. I'm not even exaggerating at all; the prose is outright psychoerotic:
Looking at the adorable little creature in her arms made Lilian feel like an arrow had shot right into [her] heart. Her breathing that had remained stable even as she scaled across mountains turned erratic, and her body started to heat up. … How would he taste like [referencing a deep kiss] in his current form? … Lilian stared at the person on the bed as her breathing hastened. She placed her trembling hands on his oversized clothes, knowing that she could remove it all with just a simple tug. Words couldn't begin to describe how attractive that notion was to her, but she felt like she would completely lose control if she gave in to her desires.
The issue here was that Roel had retained his hypersensitivity to mana as an Origin Level 4 transcendent despite losing his powers, resulting in the suppression he felt from Lilian being abnormally powerful. Naturally, the instinctive fear he felt toward her was much stronger too. So, Lilian changed her strategy right away. She first reined in her mana that had gotten lively due to her agitated emotions before slowly approaching the boy with steady footsteps. She tried to make her expression look as gentle and friendly as possible so as to not appear threatening. On the other hand, Roel was feeling greatly panicked and confused. His logical mind told him that the person before him was Lilian, someone whom he could trust, but for some reason, there was a pang of fear in his heart that identified her as a menacing threat that he mustn’t get close to. It was like the innate fear a peasant felt when standing before the emperor, a sense of inferiority toward a higher life form. It was so oppressive that he dared not to even look into Lilian’s eyes. Even when he felt the bed undulating from her climbing onto it and crawling over to his side, his eyes still remained firmly lowered, not daring to raise them in the least. On the bed, Lilian was crawling up to where Roel was, but the latter was still looking downward with a reddened face. Roel was feeling conflicted at the moment. On one hand, his innate fear was prompting him to stay away from Lilian, but on the other hand, he was enchanted by the gorgeous woman before him. These two intense feelings pricked at his nerves. Terrifying… but beautiful. I want to get close to her.
The solemn vow made Roel raise his head and look at her with widened eyes. This was the first time he was looking straight at her since the regression of his body. He found himself met with a pair of clear amethyst eyes that were tender and determined. They gleamed brightly as if there were stars in them, and the only thing reflected in them was him. The woman who stood firmly behind a towering fortress to protect him from the dangers beyond surfaced in his mind, and slowly, the fear he felt from the suppression of Origin Levels disappeared. In its place came a flood of shame. He felt awful for fearing someone who was willing to put her life on the line for him. Lilian noticed Roel’s self-reproach, but she didn’t say a word at all. She simply opened her arms wide with a smile, her action far surpassing the significance of any words. “I’m sorry, senior,” murmured Roel hoarsely. The two of them embraced one another right after. Roel was unable to reach Lilian’s shoulder due to his miniaturized physique, resulting in him being buried into Lilian’s breasts across the towel. He was uncomfortable with this, but at the same time, a mixture of gratitude and affection made him reluctant to part from her… not to mention that he was indeed unable to move at all. Lilian’s arm was holding his waist firmly, causing their bodies to be pressed together. He could hear her hastened heartbeat loud and clear. Bloodline resonance, despite being weakened, naturally occurred between the two of them. Time ticked by, and their bodies began flushing red.

That other character I mentioned, a mysterious ally with a seductive personality, tells Lilan that if she doesn't make Roel hers consensually, Lilian's inner darkness will compel her to forcefully make him hers later, and describes this doomsday scenario: "He will try to stop you, but can't. He'll be ruined by soft-heartedness in the end. He can't bring himself to kill you, and you will exploit his weakness to defeat him. By then, that twisted love of yours will compel you to murder all of the women by his side. What else will you do once your obsession for him runs amok? I reckon that imprisoning him is only the appetizer…" And crazily enough, Lilian knows in her heart that what the other character tells her is true: "Indeed, she was shaken not because of the terrifying prediction but by the realization that she actually felt a hint of anticipation for it. The feeling wasn't strong, but it proved that such dark thoughts did exist in the recesses of her mind."

Over the course of this arc, she also dresses up as a maid and Roel dresses like nobility, so they disguises themselves as a young master and his caretaker. Note that the novel specifically mentions that the maid outfit is very conservative, not at all like the maid cosplay Roel recalled from his previous life's memories, yet in the webtoon adaptation, they ditch that and just dress her in a sexy maid outfit. Hooray for non-faithful adaptations?
That's it for my overview of the main heroines' femdom elements, and I think I covered many of their best femdom moments. Let me just close by making two further points for the record. First, there's still a lot more femdom that I just didn't take the time to describe, so look forward to it. And second, don't forget that this is above all an epic action story with a genuinely rich setting, and a badass male lead; I just made him look pathetic because I highlighted all the moments where he's at his most vulnerable, which is in front of the heroines. But he seriously is a badass; just look at this Stand of his.
Where to Read It
You're in luck! The entire Chinese web novel has been licensed and officially translated by the website Hostednovel, and is available to read for free on their ad-supported website. That said, if you're so inclined, you may want to buy the cheap ebooks on Amazon which cover I believe ~70 and ~90 chapters each, around the first quarter of the entire epic, since those have been further edited. This TL project, which started exactly 4 years ago and finished around 7 months ago, has been a major labor of love by the prolific and experienced translator StarveCleric and their editors, even running a fan art contest. The Fandom wiki is also highly detailed.
As for the webtoon, that's a little more complicated. The original Chinese version of it was recently completed with 97+1 chapters total. ZeroScans fan scanlated to English 36 chapters of it, and it was licensed and officially scanlated by the international version of Bilibili Comics under the name "Evil Young Master Doesn't Want a Bad Ending" and scanlated there up to I believe chapter 59, but then the entire site shut down so it's not available anymore legally. Then as far as I can tell, the website Manuafast did a low quality scanlation of the rest of the chapters. So the only way to read it is to, for example, read the first 36 chapters on MangaDex and the finish the rest on a site like Manhuafast which pirates official scans to fill the gaps. Furthermore, the webtoon abruptly cut the story short, i.e it was axed: 95 webtoon chapters cover around 400 of the 670 novel chapters, then from the very start of webtoon chapter 96 it abruptly time skips and summarizes major future events, lore dumps, and adapts the last few novel chapters. Whatever you do, don't read past chapter 95 of the webtoon before you've read the full novel. Furthermore, the webtoon itself, while pretty to look at it, doesn't adapt all the details of the story, so I personally suggest you only use the webtoon as a way to check whether you like the style of LBTE's story, before you switch to the novel.
Final Thoughts
At the beginning, I wrote about a dream of mine. So, does LBTE realize that dream? Honestly, not quite. While LBTE is indeed a good piece of fiction that doesn't have a femdom focus, and it's also mainstream to the point that it received a webtoon adaptation and localization, it doesn't quite reach my ideal for a "satisfying femdom romance". Close, though. The reason is that Roel, while being a bit submissive, isn't submissive enough to completely receive Nora's sadism. She's constantly holding herself back for his sake.
I think the fundamental difficulty in seeing this "dream" realized is that the more explicit a story's BDSM, the more that story is likely to narrow in on the romance and take time to justify it and contextualize it. Nana to Kaoru (maledom) is like that. Many josei demographic femdom romance manga similarly try to characterize BDSM as a metaphor for trust, to try to make it seem less crazed to the vanilla. And in Arifureta (again, maledom), there's one arc where Hajime, a semi-closet sadist, and Tio, a brazen masochist, are mysteriously transported to another world by themselves, and they take advantage of the situation where no one knows them, to have Hajime fit her with a dragon-sized ballgag and whip her while riding her around in her dragon form; that incredible scene could only happen because they effectively left the main story behind and went off on a honeymoon, so there are no spectators. From easiest to hardest to see in a mainstream franchise, I think it's ranked like this: openly masochistic heroine < openly sadistic heroine < openly sadistic male lead < openly masochistic male lead. In particular, an openly masochistic male lead is a very hard sell to a lot of people; the #1 complaint I saw from English-speaking fans about LBTE is that the male lead let the heroines push him around too much. Still, I continue to dream. Similar to how IMO gay romances are best when they ditch the overly self-conscious drama and secrecy and just have side characters be casually supportive, one day I hope to see some femdom relationships where side characters are aware of it, understand it, and respect it. Web novels, and perhaps even web manga, will probably lead the way.
When I first read LBTE, I was so surprised and happy with what I found that I decided I had to post about it. And so, here we are. As I wrote at the very start: LBTE isn't a story every femdom fan will enjoy, because it's not outright erotica. But I hope this review has at least helped you appreciate its existence.
Side Talk
I first read this story back in April-May, and took extensive notes and screenshots as I read it to prepare for this post. And now, it's finally done… like I said before, I have many ideas for other posts. The next one I come up with will definitely be smaller in scale and not involve as much research. Lately, I've been playing a lot of Japanese femdom RPGs, so maybe I'll talk about those.
This year, the credit card duopoly has also been contacting various Japanese web platforms that sell 2D adult content one after another, 90% of those platforms not making any changes and losing access to the VISA/Mastercard systems, which now makes it harder sometimes for foreign users (as well as domestic Japanese users, if the alternatives are inconvenient to them) to buy from them. Of course, this affects femdom content. It's an unfortunate trend, but the steadfast resistance of many business has been reassuring. I probably won't bother to post a sequel to my post about femdom censorship, in part because I feel that excessive English language attention to this controversy can only worsen the situation, so I'll just sum up here what's happened. Getchu is the only company that seemingly outright folded to these companies and deleted industry content (old hypnosis fetish games). DLsite, which also runs Ci-en, changed their tags (in a sadly clownish way that I think was counterproductive) hoping to appease the duopoly, it wasn't enough anyway for the duopoly and they were forced to cut ties, but the tag names are still altered. Pixiv didn't change much; the status quo is mostly what I described in my previous post, except automated scanning of text inside images has now led some Fanbox users to preemptively censor some sensitive terms with the 〇 character. Other notable companies targeted include Fanza/DMM, Niconico (yes, the video site), Skeb, and Toranoana. And many more have been targeted but just received less attention, or people don't know about it. However, a few days ago, Yamada Tarou and Akamatsu Ken met with the VP of VISA in Japan and put pressure on them, which apparently could result in a reversal of this trend. As usual, it's hard to know the full story of what's happening behind the scenes, but if you ask me for my personal opinion, I'm not worried that the 2D femdom is any serious danger, because Japanese companies have collectively taken an anti-censorship stance, the Japanese public also vehemently criticizes this censorship, and most sales are domestic plus the Japanese have other payment methods to fall back on which lessens the financial impact on companies. Sites like Fanbox continue to support a larger variety of innovative femdom creators than ever before. In my highly amateur opinion, the only thing that I think could threaten this status quo would be if there's a significant domestic legal or political pressure which forces the major companies to switch their stance as a whole, or over the long term increased foreign investment results in greater foreign influence on the anime industry as a whole which results in a shift in norms.
All right, that's it from me; have a nice day.

Hey Sunshaded! My name is blue and I've been a big fan of your blog, ever since Hemdom mentioned it to me couple of years ago. With Hemdom having been absent for a while now, I have taken over their Discord community, also creating a new server that is trying to continue their work. We are trying to make a comprehensive collection of femdom games and femdom hentai manga and I wanted to ask if you'd be interested in joining the server to see if you like it?
Thanks for reading my blog, blue!! I appreciate that Hemdom spread the word about it. On a side note, I know it's has been quiet lately, but I swear it's still alive.
Anyway, I seriously appreciate the heads up about this server. Hemdom has done a fantastic job spreading the culture of femdom hentai and gathering people. Although just a lurker, I was a member of their Discord server, and noticed belatedly the announcement about your new Discord server late last year. So, I've actually been in your femdom hentai server for about 2 months now, and I love what I've seen. I also feel like the server's atmosphere is even more comfortable to me than Hemdom's, with truly all kinds of femdom fans from what I've seen, not only dominated by fans of irojikake and reverse rape. The Akai Mato avatar is based.
You probably won't find me talking much in the server, since I'm someone who's often slow to respond to messages and I'm also not as caught up on some of the latest femdom works, but I'll continue to stick around. Oh, and I just updated my Links page to list the invite, if that's okay.

An Analysis of Pixiv's Recent Censorship of Femdom Artists

Do you have femdom artists you love? Pixiv is the #1 online platform that Japanese artists use to share their art, sort of like Japan's version of DeviantArt. Even among Western 2D femdom artists, Pixiv's popularity has rapidly increased in the last few years.
This article is my attempt to shed light on Pixiv's policy enforcement changes this year that have targeted a number of artists, which sadly include femdom ones.
If you're a fan of 2D femdom, especially the heavy BDSM variety, it's natural to want to know if some of your favorite artists have been forced to delete or alter their creative works, and why. It's hard to find that info anywhere else, due in large part to the fact that Japanese artists don't always defend themselves as vocally as they have a right to.
Also, just to be clear, I'll say this up-front: the only parts of Pixiv that have been affected are the 3 monetizable parts, Pixiv Fanbox (a Patreon-like site), Booth (an itch.io-like site), and "requests" (i.e. paid commissions). The main Pixiv site where artists can create profiles and share their works for free has been unaffected, and is likely to stay unaffected.
Sorry, this will ultimately be a very lengthy post; if you just want to learn what's up with Pixiv, skip down to the section "Changes at Pixiv in Late 2022" for recent events, or the section after that "2D Artists Later Targeted" for a list of some of the affected artists.
To start, I want to explain the role of international credit card companies in all of this. This controversy ultimately begins and ends with them.
The Specter of the International Credit Card Companies
Two American companies, VISA and MasterCard, have an international near-duopoly when it comes to processing credit card payments. In other words, when a site like Pixiv wants to accept customers' money, one of the most convenient and popular ways to do that is to let them pay with credit cards, but in order to do so, Pixiv needs to make a deal with a bank which in turn has a deal with a payment processing company, and their only real choice is the VISA-Mastercard duopoly if they want to reach a large number of customers, especially internationally.
So what does this duopoly mean? It means that VISA and Mastercard are also responsible for making sure they don't accidentally fund terrorists or other kinds of criminals… Or to put it in terms they understand, they need to make sure they don't accidentally facilitate the payments of someone in a way that results in political fallout. It's not like these 2 companies are omniscient and can prevent anyone from ever processing a payment for a crime, and small controversies will pop up frequently. But if they fail to properly police their partners, especially if they were previously "warned" by an outside entity but failed to take action, and a small controversy becomes a massive controversy, it's not impossible that they could have that status taken from them. Their duopoly only exists through the tacit approval of the United States government, which expects them to do a competent job. For now, there are no serious threats to their duopoly. But in my personal opinion, if they allow 1 or 2 more massive controversies on the level of what happened with Pornhub, they could lose it. These 2 companies could be said to be "responsible" for an unfathomable amount of financial transactions, so they probably don't feel that they can slack off in their relentless efforts to minimize controversy.
Thus, VISA and Mastercard have always been especially harsh on pornography. The vast majority of the commercial porn industry, especially before the web rose in popularity, revolved around real-life actors. So when these companies came up with policies about what kind of "content" was acceptable to sell, they implicitly formulated them with respect to real-life situations. Keep in mind that depictions of sex and violence are outright illegal in many parts of the world, and even safe and consensual BDSM is a crime in most places if the police are prejudiced enough to try to prosecute it. Why wouldn't they want to avoid financial liability for real-life porn that involves depiction of physical abuse, when they obviously have no way to judge whether it's a faked effect (like ketchup instead of blood) or a real act, and BDSM porn is known to depict real acts? And why wouldn't they object to real-life porn that has bestiality or child porn, when that obviously constitutes abuse? In any case, VISA and Mastercard's policies were mostly based in reason and respect for international law. After all, there is still a worldwide market for these materials, and it needs to be taken seriously. In particular, those who trade in depictions of children and animals who are unable to consent, sometimes even the brutal murder of animals, financially support or at least morally support the horrific creation of such material, the existence of which continues to traumatize many victims.
That said, porn isn't just 3D, it's also 2D, and not everyone can recognize the difference between fiction and reality. Perhaps thanks to some well-known classic literature with elements of fetishism such as Venus in Furs, I don't believe there has ever been a criminal prosecution in a Western country for purely written depictions of sexual and physical abuse that equates them with financially supporting the acts they depict. Text-based femdom is subject to the same common sense which tells us that a movie which depicts a brutal murder isn't equivalent to condoning murders. Overall, the written word is treated differently--as connected to the realm of ideas which are by themselves not crimes--than visual material. But the same can't be said for fictional visual material. Because "porn" can sometimes be defined as a reference to depictions that's independent of how those depictions are created, there's a kind of legal theory that treats scratches on a piece of paper as equivalent to photographs of horrific real-life crimes. And there have been scattered cases around the world where people were prosecuted for possession of kinky drawn porn, or even just non-pornographic manga with fan service, under laws intended to clamp down on a criminal industry.
Japan's creative industry has fiercely protected its 2D artists from arbitrary censorship for decades, and even strongly objected to occasional attempts of outside bodies such as UN organizations to pressure Japan to legally enforce censorship of "explicit" content in their domestic manga industry, such as perceived sexualization, groping, or anything that Western sensibilities object to. The Japanese 2D porn scene has its roots in the doujin scene, where people drew their fantasies without holding back (other than adding mosaics/bars over exposed genitals in accordance with Japanese law) and printed them to be sold at twice-a-year conventions. Around the turn of the millennium, that industry took to the web, and not only could people sell and buy physical erotic doujin magazines, they could sell and buy digital-only doujin works on sites like DLsite, and they expanded beyond manga into voice works, CG sets, video games, and so on. While Japan's corporate erotic industries are regulated by various entities, such as EOCS for eroge which requires games be submitted to them for advance approval, DLsite doesn't face quite the same level of restrictions, as works are speedily reviewed by DLsite staff. The popular Japanese artist site Pixiv barely ever regulates its users' erotic art, except to force them to re-upload it with mosaics. That's in contrast with the English-speaking internet, which lacked a central online marketplace for 2D porn until the VN industry pushed Steam to open its doors to erotic games, and even then they ban many games for their content; even when you compare artist sites, DeviantArt censors far more content than Pixiv, as it doesn't allow depictions of male erections, sexual contact or explicit sex acts, or characters who could be interpreted somehow as underage, and has its own volunteer army of Christians and porn haters who try to report as many fetish artists as possible. Well, anyone who's familiar with Japanese otaku culture probably understands that for better or worse, their attitude toward sex is different from that of many Western countries.
The Duopoly's Oppressive Influence on Artists
Patreon was created in 2013. At first, it was relatively censorship-free. I remember that Fenoxo, creator of Corruptions of Champions, was a top-ranked creator; that game included significant amounts of furry, latex, bestiality, futanari, mind control, rape, and of course, corruption fetish content. In truth, porn had never actually been officially allowed on Patreon. But for a while, the company clearly just wasn't sure where to draw the line when it came to how to define sexual content or not, so they left it alone.
However, all that changed in November 2017, when they outright banned a wide range of kinks. The major ones that everyone noticed were rape, incest, bestiality, and underage characters. Guro was also banned. And they interpreted these terms broadly. Some creators fled to SubscribeStar, but SubscribeStar doesn't accept as many types of payment methods as Patreon. Many creators, such as Fenoxo, stayed on by adjusting the content they produced. Half a year later, as a new ban wave swept the platform, Patreon staff confirmed that it was under pressure from payment processors to 'review content'. And then in 2019, Patreon had a major crackdown on hypnosis and mind control kink, because they defined it as a type of rape.
Now, let's look at the Japanese side. Japan was slow to understand Patreon's appeal. Due to Japan's cultural differences, there was some initial resistance to both the crowdfunding and subscription models; many people had a kind of right-wing mindset where they said that creators should just create a product and sell it rather than "beg for money". But that changed in April 2018, when DLsite launched a sister site called Ci-en, pronounced "shien" which means "support/aid". It was a smart move, because many creators already had DLsite accounts to sell their works, so it wasn't hard to expand that to Ci-en and let them set up plans to receive money from fans or just blog about whatever they wanted. A lot of ambitious femdom projects started up around this time, with the S na Kanojo-based game Escalation! among them. With Ci-en's explosion in popularity, two Japanese rivals emerged in a matter of weeks: Fantia and Pixiv's Fanbox.
Fanbox stood out for one clear reason: it's the only site that adopted the Patreon model. Ci-en has both free and paid plans, but treats each month-tier as a kind of purchase, where you unlock all posts at that tier for that month permanently. Fantia has more variety of payments options, but is also more focused around per-month purchases, and lacks a free tier. Fanbox, in contrast, creates a "box" which creators add to periodically, which is completely accessible once you pay for it, for as long as you pay for it, for the tier that you pay for; in other words, it's Japanese Patreon. And as you might expect, it's proven more popular than its rivals.
Just like Patreon, Fanbox also spent a few years relatively censorship-free, its "honeymoon" of sorts. But recently, the international credit card companies have come for Pixiv.
Changes at Pixiv in Late 2022
In mid-November 2022, Pixiv suddenly announced that they would be making changes in December to their Terms of Use to "clarify" what kind of content is not acceptable. They were open about the fact that international credit card companies had pressured them to take action. In fact, they didn't yet reveal what the specific changes would be… this was effectively an announcement about an announcement.
For anyone who had any doubt: Japanese people are far from ignorant about how their views on sex differ from Western countries. In fact, many Japanese people, especially those who appreciate otaku culture or adult content, are aware of and strongly oppose "political correctness" (ポリコレ/porikore) in Western countries. (Most of their impression of it comes from Western cinema, games, and comics, where they feel that these stories are distorted for the worse by the writers' need to adjust story elements, and in particular limit women's cuteness or sexiness.) Japanese people also understand that there's a faction in the West that wants to censor otaku culture. Furthermore, there's an overwhelming consensus among Japanese people that drawings cannot hurt anyone, and should not be criminalized.
And so the Japanese public's response to this announcement was, as expected, one of displeasure. There was a lot of discussion in Twitter about how tyrannical international credit card companies are, and it wasn't the first time such discussions had taken place, as plenty of other Japanese businesses have had disagreements with the international credit card companies in the past over the sale of erotic art. The magazine Bunshun, which is well-known for its investigative journalism, reported on how the credit card companies had been on a hair trigger ever since the Pornhub controversy in late 2020, and that because they recently discovered Fanbox had been used as a front by some Chinese vendors to covertly sell child porn and necrophilia porn hidden within lengthy videos, they were watching to make sure Pixiv came down hard on illegal content and were prepared to even ban Pixiv's entire parent company if Pixiv's actions didn't satisfy them. It wasn't only Mastercard, which is known to be a bit more strict than VISA, but also VISA and JCB (Japan Credit Bureau, an international credit card company based in Japan) who were likely to do so.
Finally, in early December, Pixiv unveiled the changes they would make to their Terms of Use. First, they distinguished between 禁止商品, content that would result in an immediate ban (which includes child porn), and 要修正商品, content that would just result in being designated as private/unmonetized until altered and re-approved by Pixiv (which includes all non-photorealistic drawings). This kind of difference in treatment is obvious, but Pixiv laying it out clearly also probably helped reassure some artists that they wouldn't be treated as criminals by Pixiv just because a "problematic" drawing was detected on their Fanbox, as well as reassure credit card companies that truly evil content would receive more than a slap on the wrist in response. Second, they add separate pages with clarifying examples of what kinds of situations are considered problematic. The key point is that their 要修正商品 page cites "sexual exploitation or sexual abuse of a minor (*1), incest, bestiality, rape (or any other non-consensual sexual behavior), non-consensual mutilation of a person or body part, [and] any other content deemed inappropriate by pixiv". Furthermore, it's clarified that this content is judged by the holistic situation presented by the image, title, tags, caption, and description; therefore, text-based context may matter as much as the art itself.
Up until this point, Pixiv had been vague about what content wasn't allowed on Fanbox and other services which utilized credit cards; they effectively just said you couldn't post "illegal" content. They were probably reluctant to tell Japanese users "look at all the fetishes that Western credit card companies consider 'illegal' to draw!" and just hoped it wouldn't result in a problem. However, as Bunsun reported, they had seen frequent cases over the years where these credit companies refused to settle payments for specific content on their platforms, and now, the credit card companies had taken the initiative to more or less band together and force Pixiv to spell out what they considered problematic in their Terms of Use.
In any case, to those of us who already were aware of what fetishes credit card companies hate most, the list didn't contain any real surprises. The real question was… to what extent would these new rules be enforced? Were they just lip service to the credit card companies who'd held them to the fire, or would they really make sure Pixiv banned every piece of incest fan art they could find on Fanbox?
Many creators held their breath around this time, and prepared to be banned when the changes took effect in mid-December. negisho, a femdom artist who both draws and digitally renders situations with muscular boys who're tied up and beaten by sexy older women, was particularly certain that he'd be censored, since he had the triple-whammy of somewhat photorealistic 3D renders, underage characters, and violence. As it turns out, his Fanbox wasn't censored. But some of his Booth works were, and out of fear, he moved to Fantia anyway. Another femdom artist, makin, creates only 2D art, but a lot of them feature loli characters and incest, so he made them all private in preparation for expected censorship… but when it didn't come, he just un-privated them in mid-January, and they're still up. So for the most part, what people feared didn't happen. However, it's true that a number of artists who produce 3D renders were targeted in a wave of suspensions that unfolded in late December. Still, overall, the impression most people had is that Pixiv's rule changes weren't being enforced strictly, and if they were enforced, it was mostly accounts who produced 3D renders that were targeted, not traditional 2D artists. There was a collective sigh of relief. And I'm sure Pixiv was happy, too, that the controversy had died down.
2D Artists Later Targeted
Unfortunately, the story didn't end there. After an apparent pause of a few months, a number of 2D femdom artists on Pixiv have had their Fanboxes targeted in a new wave of censorship.
To be clear, this is what happens: an artist is suddenly told that their Fanbox has been suspended for problematic content or have a number of their posts set to "private", which won't be visible to the public until they manually correct the problematic posts. In the case of Fanbox suspensions, they're not always told exactly which posts are problematic, so they have to somewhat guess what's problematic and make a large number of changes before applying for re-approval by Pixiv staff. They may also be told they need to remove external links such as ones to Google Drive.
Here are a list of some of affected artists, and what they revealed about the circumstances behind their account's censorship.
Miginohito Mitsuru: In March 2023, several posts set private. Reason suspected by artist: depictions of young male/female characters. Result: moved to Ci-en. (Note: The image used in this blog post is taken from their work.)
Luster Don (commissions both art and adult videos): In April 2023, he reported that he noticed some of his older posts with apparently NG (banned) keywords in their tags had been made private by Pixiv. Result: he reworded the text to not have those NG words, and re-submitted them. In fact, he had already taken the step of moving his photographic content off Fanbox onto other platforms, to preempt the possibility of a mixed fight being judged as 禁止商品 and having his entire Pixiv account banned as a result.
Kia-shi: In May 2023, their Fanbox was suspended. No specific reason/art cited by Pixiv. Reason suspected by artist: oneshota and/or oyoufuku akachan (a male character trapped inside tight clothes worn by a larger female character and pressed against her body). Result: deleted all art with those 2 fetishes, registered for Fantia, and posted that art on Fantia; continually operates both Fantia and Fanbox accounts but posts less art on Fanbox.
Robo Mikan: In May 2023, their Fanbox was suspended. Stated reason: there was a problem with the top page. Result: he changed all the images and tags displayed on the top page, and it was unsuspended. He suspects that loli content was the source of the problem (since he's a lolidom artist) but is unclear about what exactly caused it, so he created a Fantia account too and continues to operate both it and Fanbox.
Uramacoto (femsub focus artist, but lots of yuri femdom): In May 2023, their Fanbox was suspended. Stated reason: problems with their cover image, portfolio, plan cover images, and perhaps other unstated reasons; they'd also previously had a few posts flagged due to the need to revise the text or tags. Result: they changed everything that was designated problematic, but in an effort to avoid further suspensions, they researched what other people advised they do on Twitter/5ch, and in the end, they took the drastic step of censoring all adult terminology in text-based elements of their pasts and future posts (with the ● symbol, such as ア●ルト instead of アダルト): namely titles, tags, captions, and descriptions--they even took the effort to censor terms like bondage, S-onna, netorare, and seme. Note: they didn't censor the actual Japanese text within the images, just the post metadata.
Murasaki Gankyuu Suisou (SM-kei circle with a lot of heavy femdom works): In May 2023, or possibly early June 2023, their Fanbox was suspended. They fixed it in mid-June. No reason provided for why, though MGS does have a lot of violent content; if they had to censor any of it, they would've said so, so perhaps they just reworded some text or thickened some mosaics.
Philia (Korean femdom artist): In September 2023, his Fanbox was suspended. Stated reason: insufficient mosaics, external links to Google Drive. The NTR-themed CG set "Perfect Girlfriend" was also not allowed by them for some reason. Result: He did what Fanbox told him to do, and his Fanbox was restored. "Perfect Girlfriend" was apparently canceled.
My best guess is that around May 19, Pixiv automatically scanned the text-based metadata of the posts of all Fanbox creators for certain keywords associated with the content that they'd explicitly banned the previous December. And for accounts with a significant number of flagged posts, they suspended the accounts and told them they needed to fix this, and once they did so, restored their accounts. It's possible that merely changing the text would've been enough to satisfy Pixiv, but some creators like Kia-shi were more cautious now that they were under a microscope, and chose to delete the offending posts altogether. (In general, they're cautious because Pixiv has warned that repeat offenders may be outright banned.) That said, there are other cases of censorship too, but it's rare to see creators want to discuss it in detail, in part because of the shame/stigma of being told your fetishes are problematic, so in the end, the sample size I've examined is too small and I can't be confident about any of my conclusions.
Conclusions
It doesn't seem that many femdom artists have been affected by Fanbox's censorship… at least, for now. And in most cases, they've been able to make trivial fixes that let them stay on the platform. This is good news. But ultimately, the future is unknown, and the tension between Pixiv and credit card companies will probably remain for a while.
So, who are the villains in this story? Well, the criminals who misused Fanbox as cover to peddle illicit materials, obviously. Aside from them… I don't know. I don't resent any of the fundamental forces that sustain this dynamic which represses freedom of expression in erotic art. In particular, the credit card companies just want to protect themselves legally, and they have every right to be upset when the sites they partner with end up exploited by criminals. At the same time, some of these criminals are very clever, and I don't blame a site like Pixiv for not being able to detect all hidden content within videos sold on Fanbox, any more than I blame YouTube for every copyright notice that's filed against its videos. (Note: It's not like I believe Pixiv couldn't have done any better. But hindsight is always 20/20, and they're clearly putting in a real effort now.)
Villains aside, if I had to pick who else I dislike most, it's the people who embrace the censorship that results from this complex legal dynamic and falsely moralize it. For example, the current Patreon moderation team doesn't just ban certain fetishes, it outright morally condemns them in the warnings it sends to creators: "Per our guidelines, we have zero tolerance for the glorification of sexual violence, and this includes depictions of sexualized minors, non-consensual sex, incest, and bestiality." They actually implicitly accuse these artists, whose fantasies hurt no one, of encouraging violence. Fortunately, most organizations don't feel the same way. Steam famously has a single official policy toward its erotic games: they only ban what's "illegal" (read: they also follow guidelines similar to the credit card companies') or "trolling". Although they've received some flak because their moderation team treats all high school characters (no matter how curvy, no matter what school year, no matter whether they're stated to be 18 or not) as children, they've at least been largely consistent and refused to moralize their judgments; they even apologized for their premature ban of Chaos;Head Noah which led to fan outcry. Meanwhile, Japanese companies not only don't moralize this issue, they resist censorship as best they can. Even Pixiv, which was placed under a lot of pressure last December, has only censored a handful of 2D accounts that essentially verbally self-confessed to the content that credit card companies object to; there are countless femdom creators on Fanbox who I didn't mention, because they haven't encountered any censorship.
What's kind of ironic, actually, is that this past summer, Rium (Msize) started a Fanbox… less than a year after the changes in its Terms of Use caused Fanbox to lose face compared to Ci-en and Fantia. I hope it works out well for him.
Update on January 22, 2024
On January 17, 2024, Pixiv Fanbox enacted a new ban (well, force-hidden) wave, and this one covered a broader set of terms found in tags and titles.
There's been a lot of talk about it on Japanese Twitter. Tweets like this one list examples of all the terms that have been newly declared unacceptable. In short, the terms are all associated with any of 3 categories: non-con, underage, and incest. Previously, the main banned terms had been the ones associated with underage character depictions, and only a small subset of terms had been banned. Now, a broader set of terms has been used, and they expanded into two other categories. So for example, if a Fanbox fetish artist draws erotic art and uses the word "forced" (犯され) in the image's title, it was be force-hidden in the recent wave. And any erotic work tagged with family terms like "older sister" is unacceptable, which would even included, for example, an image of an "older sister" having sex with a complete stranger (just the two of them).
It's worth noting, though, that Fanbox's censorship wave does not instantly ban anyone, it just hides their works by default and forces them to make some kind of "change" before it can be un-hidden. This means that simply removing the offending title/tags, or renaming that with a censor such as レ〇プ instead of レイプ (rape), appears to be enough for their works to be restored. Same as what happened in last May's censorship wave.
Anyway, while a lot of creators are disturbed by what has happened, most of them appear to be sticking with Fanbox. I think the main draw of Fanbox for a lot of creators is that foreign patrons can't access Fantia or SubscribeStar with their credit cards, Patreon censors even harder, and Ci-en's subscription model and features are more limited and awkward.
Update on August 17, 2024
For a condensed summary of some recent events of note, check out the Side Talk section at the very bottom of this unrelated recent post I made.
Side Talk
This post took a while. I had to change my focus and rewrite a large part of it, and yet I still find myself wondering if I rambled on too much about details most people don't care about. I tried to minimize links to Japanese sources, though it's worth noting that if you know Japanese and are interested, the Bunshun article is worth reading. In any case, MGS is the only circle I'm truly excited to see more works from these days, so I hope that they can avoid censorship when they try to publish Femme Fatale on DLsite. They seem to be approaching the point where they can put out a trial version...
Lately, I've been trying to play some of the Western erotic game community's femdom games. It's been interesting. Too many of them are slow-paced VNs, with characters I don't find very likable. I always wish more English language devs would create fun character dynamics like the kind in Crazy GameMaster: The 7 Crystals. I also wish they would just finish their games. Too many of these devs stop developing their main game when they're close to done with it, in order to develop their next game in advance with the hope that they won't lose patrons once they finish their main game. I don't like to play unfinished games, but I rarely have a choice here.
I hope my next post won't take nearly a full year to put out. I have many ideas for posts that excite me more than this post, but I prioritized this post because I felt like the subject matter was more time-sensitive.

Game Review: Choukyou Suru Rinjin

Quick Info:
Creator: Murasaki Gankyuu Suisou Title: Choukyou Suru Rinjin (調教する隣人) Media: Visual Novel (TyranoScript engine) sold on DLsite Content: Humiliation-focused pseudo-consensual BDSM
Note: This is an untranslated Japanese visual novel, which has a story focus. If you can’t read Japanese and aren’t satisfied with machine translations, you’re out of luck, unfortunately. Also, it’s chock-full of heavy BDSM, so those who’re turned off by that should look elsewhere. …But if you play VNs in Japanese and you’re willing to embrace extreme femdom, please read on.
Introduction: What Makes It Special
So, what’s awesome about it? Well, it has:
A scenario that’s 9 hours long, which for reference is double the length of an Msize game.
All female characters fully voiced, by the artist-seiyuu Narukamitsuki Ria.
2 routes and 5 different endings.
Unique and likable characters. The heroines are multi-dimensional, with their own reasoned feelings and attitudes toward the male protagonist, not cardboard cutouts of sadists like you’ll find in many other stories.
Some of the best comedy I’ve seen in a femdom VN, which rivals Noukano games and Haruka’s route in Shinkon Seikatsu.
Plenty of extreme femdom situations. There’s blackmail, exhibitionism, golden showers and piss drinking, the male lead pissing and shitting himself, forced cross-dressing and emasculation, SPH and mocked phimosis, various physical tortures, and much more that I won’t spoil.
A fast-paced story. The scenes are all concise and well-written, so it never feels like sex scenes are deliberately padded. As a result, the amount of story is far more than you’ll normally find in a 9-hour Japanese visual novel.
A suspenseful story. Of the two main heroines, one is an unpredictable and mysterious character, while the other isn’t simple to gauge either. The constant risky exhibitionism, along with various plot developments which raise the stakes for the male protagonist, make it impossible to predict what will happen next.
30+ base CGs, which for reference is comparable to an Msize game.
I’ll state its one major flaw up front: the art style isn’t consistent throughout the game. Though the sprites are beautiful, the CGs vary a lot. The artist’s skill improved as she drew for the game, actually, so some of the later CGs look much better. It’s far from bad, and I definitely prefer it over a generic art style. Still, this aspect, along with the extreme-ness of the fetishes–and maybe insufficient marketing–are what have caused CSR to remain a hidden gem for a few years now.
Next, I’ll discuss the characters to give you a better idea of what the story is like, and how there’s a unique sense of character and plot tension. Lastly, I’ll talk a bit about the game developer (a two-person doujin circle) responsible for this hidden gem.
The Story
Heads up for those concerned about spoilers: in this section, I’ll discuss the early parts of the game, around the first half hour or so, as well as the overall flow of the story. If you’ve already decided you want to play CSR based on what I said in the introduction, and prefer to play blind, skip down to the section “The Circle” below.
The story’s protagonist is a college student named Akino Yasuo. He’s 19 years old, and lives by himself. He’s smart, hardworking, and has a decent face. He tries to deliver a cool impression to others, and generally succeeds at it.
That said, Akino has a hidden side. To others, he uses the first person pronoun ore which is confident and assertive, but in his mind, he refers to himself as boku which is more meek. He has a strong interest in femdom porn. And he has a hobby he can’t tell anyone about… exhibitionism. He lives in an apartment on the second floor of a building, with the first floor being a snack bar. Every once in a while, when he spots a random female passerby walk past his building late at night, he opens the shades of his room, turns up the volume of the porn he’s watching, and lets her see him masturbate. He derives a perverse pleasure from being exposed to people’s gazes.
One day, he does this again. However, it turns out as you’d expect from a femdom VN… the woman who sees him doesn’t just walk away uncomfortably like all the other women did previously. Instead, the woman with a suitcase glares at him… and walks into the building. She’s Kaede, and he didn’t recognize her because she only just moved in to the apartment next door.
Despite having crossed the line, the memory of her glare excites him. When Akino accidentally blasts from his speakers femdom porn later that night, Kaede interprets it as a deliberate act, and goes and confronts him. However, she’s far more ruthless to him than he could’ve imagined; she immediately blows past his comfort zone and blackmails him. And thus, his life is turned upside-down by her.
From that point on, the plot largely chronicles Akino’s attempts to live his life with Kaede constantly abusing him and forcing him to do things that are illegal, unsafe, or mildly terrifying. To a certain extent, at first, you may think, “Hey, isn’t this too convenient? He’s an exhibitionist, but when he was ‘caught’ by a woman, she’s beautiful and she forces him to engage in more exhibitionism? Isn’t this just wish fulfillment? How can Akino not be self-aware of this?” I had that feeling at the very start too, but then it quickly became apparent that Kaede’s orders are far beyond what a “normal” exhibitionist like Akino would consider wish fulfillment. Kaede feels utter disdain for him, and doesn’t hold back. Akino’s psychological conflict over how he feels about the situations he finds himself, which both excite and terrify him, and his stress and anxiety over Kaede’s influence over him are rawly conveyed in the narrative.
Everything ends up centering around Akino’s relationship with Manaka Shizuku, a cute girl he has a crush on. She goes to the same university as him; she’s even in the same year, and attends the same lecture. On top of that, she’s a part-time worker at the snack bar that occupies the first floor of the building he lives in. (A snack bar is kind of like a hostess club, but more toned down; a bar instead of a club, and the girls just serve drinks and chat casually at the tables rather than sit together on a sofa.) Akino constantly visits the snack bar to chat with her. He wants her to have a good impression of him, and look up to him as a cool and reliable guy, in the hopes that one day he’ll be able to ask her out.
As you’d expect, Kaede soon realizes the existence of Shizuku, and involves Shizuku in many of the humiliating orders she gives Akino. How Shizuku reacts to everything that happens between her and Akino, and how the relationship between Kaede and Akino evolves, are some of the focal points of the VN’s plot.
The Circle
Choukyou Suru Rinjin was created by a circle called Murasaki Gankyuu Suisou, which translates to Purple Eyeball Aquarium. That’s MGS for short. They sold their first work on DLsite in 2009, so they’ve been active for over a decade.
There are 2 people in the circle: Senhime, the writer with a unique style whose plots usually involve extreme situations and exhibitionism. And Narukamitsuki Ria, the artist whose ability has gradually improved over the years, and who’s responsible for the female voices in MGS’s works. They’re close in real life; Narukamitsuki Ria often posts short humorous comics that feature the 2 of them as chibi-style characters, and they also have a YouTube channel called Doujin Kurui (which could translate to Doujin Madness) where they humorously and insightfully express their experiences running their doujin circle. The majority of MGS’s works fall into the femdom category, though sometimes they’re more femsub, or even yaoi with a cross-dressing seme.
Back when Choukyou Suru Rinjin came out in 2019, MGS had been active for a full decade, but they had never put out a manga or a CG set. Until then, they had only ever put out novels and voice dramas. But ever since the VN Choukyou Suru Rinjin came out, the circle’s style has changed: Narukamitsuki Ria has put out 7 manga and CG sets, and the writer Senhime even learned to draw and put out two manga of his own. And they’re even currently working on a new game.
Choukyou Suru Rinjin has its roots in an 87-chapter novel that Senhime wrote. It’s still publicly readable on Pixiv and Nocturne. That’s only up to chapter 86; the final chapter, which is probably something of an epilogue, can only be read if you buy the illustrated compilation of chapter 63 onward. The name this VN was sold under is actually “Game: Choukyou Suru Rinjin” to distinguish it from the novel. Senhime worked on it for many years and wrapped it up around late 2018.
At first, I expected the game to be a shorter, more abridged version of the novel. That’s usually the way it goes. But the visual novel version of CSR is actually a superior version! The novel effectively only covers a single route. And when I compared the flow of the plot in both, I noticed that there were a number of scenes cut or subtly altered, and in every case, I felt that the changes made sense, helping to better ground the plot and the characters. And while only a small portion of scenes weren’t carried over to the VN, a much larger number of scenes were added to the VN. I would guess that the VN’s script is at least twice as long as the novel’s script.
Conclusion
There’s a lot more I could say about this VN. Like how much I love Shizuku as a heroine… How I love the contrast between Shizuku’s two routes… How I love the evolution of certain characters… How I like the voice acting in certain scenes. But I’ve chosen to avoid spoilers in this review.
The existence of MGS really cheers me up, because the works they create are inspired, enjoyable, and a breath of fresh air in this 2022 femdom doujin game scene that’s overloaded with irojikake and succubi. Their upcoming second game is once again based on a femdom novel from Senhime; the novel is called Dorei Tenraku Kitan, which means very roughly Slave Downfall Fairy Tale, and the game version this time will be called something different for clarity: Femme Fatale. It will also feature Live2D animated sprites, and major revisions to the novel’s story.
Side Talk
Time flies, and the next Msize game, after a year and half’s delay, is scheduled to come out at the end of December, assuming Riumu manages to wrap up the work in time. mortalvyses is also on track to finish their translation of Ikisugi M Lesson around then, so it'll potentially be a double dose of Msize!
Pixiv recently enacted some potentially censorship-oriented policies at the behest of international credit card companies. This won’t impact any non-paid Pixiv content (like regular artist galleries) but it will affect Fanbox (PIxiv’s Patreon equivalent) content. The new rules won’t take effect until mid-December, and it remains to see how strictly they will be enforced. I’m especially concerned about the ones that would target incest, because I appreciate imouto femdom scenarios.
A lot of people are interested in AI these days. There’s been a lot of discussion about chat bots and AI story generation in the Femdom Finder thread, with the apparent consensus being that while AIs will react to what you say and build upon it, so you can “train” them to act like a dominatrix, they’ll often “glitch out” as their apparent grasp of the situation collapses and, for example, they suddenly act like they’re the slave. Parts of AI-generated stories can reportedly be somewhat enjoyable, if you can learn to tune out at all the weird and contradictory elements that are thrown in. And of course, most AIs aren’t trained on porn, so often the content will stay relatively tame.
I’ve also seen a lot of Novel AI posts in Pixiv. Novel AI is an AI art generator that was trained from Danbooru (so, mostly Pixiv works) based off Stable Diffusion. In response to the flood, Pixiv created an opt-in feature that filters out AI art, but it doesn’t catch all of it, since it has to be tagged. As a fan of latex fashion, I’m impressed by a lot of the Novel AI art I see, but unfortunately, AI ultimately just mimics vast data sets and lacks a concept of the world; therefore, trying to prompt it to display an interpersonal action of domination, or otherwise display more than 1 person, seems mostly futile. Unless you train it with a lot of data for a specific scenario, but then why would you need it generated anyway? Probably the best you can do casually right now is, say, have a dominatrix pose with a whip, though sometimes it’ll fuse with her hair. In any case, the tech is certainly thought-provoking, and many artists are at least attempting to use it to speed up their work.
Until next time, and happy holidays.

how and where do you download femdom hentai games please?
My suggestion: try checking out the Femdom Finder. There's a link in my List of Links which I link to at the top of the blog.
Though what you find may end up being more of a mix of hentai and western/CG graphics. Honestly, there is no one proper place to download untranslated Japanese games nowadays, aside from torrent trackers like Nyaa.
While I'm here, I may as well mention: yep, it's been a long time since I last posted... There's one particular untranslated Japanese femdom game I'm in the middle of and consider amazing (from a story point of view) so I do want to review that here once I finally finish. I've been near the end of the last route for over a month now, just haven't quite put the time into it (the best route is behind me).
Oh yeah, and if anyone didn't hear, I'll just mention this: Msize teased his new game again a day or two ago. He confirmed it'll come out this December! I'm looking forward to whenever Riumu uploads the game's site.
Edit 10/20/2022: By the way, I’ve been thinking over the asks feature, and how it relates to the comments feature. The reason I actually originally enabled asks years ago is that I couldn’t make comments work to my satisfaction back then, but now I have anonymous comments enabled on this blog. Except now that I think about it, most peopled probably don’t know how to anonymously comment, because DIsqus makes it tricky. So I decided to add an explanation of how to anonymously comment to the pinned navigation post above this one. Hopefully I don’t come off as weirdly desperate for comments as a result!

Announcement: New Site “Femdom Recommendations Wiki”
The title says it all: I made a wiki. Here’s the link: https://fdrecs.miraheze.org/. It’s a wiki for femdom fans to recommend stuff to each other.
At first, I just wanted to find a way to manage my old list posts (the ones about top games or top manga) more easily because Tumblr has no table management features. I looked into a lot of different services, with the bottom line being that I didn’t want to pay for hosting. In the end, I went with Miraheze, and it’s worked fairly well. You can think of it as the new unofficial sister site to this blog.
Per Miraheze policy, it’s open to any user who wants to register and contribute; it would have been easier if I’d be able to treat the wiki as my own personal blog, since this forced me to spend a lot of time developing semi-objective standards to try to make sure that contributors feel encouraged yet unconstrained as long as they pay attention to the standards. Anyone can create their own list of femdom recommendations on the wiki, though they’ll normally have to start it in their userspace.
I’ve put an insane amount of work into different pages on the wiki, though it’s not as polished as I’d have hoped it would be after I spent hundreds of hours on it already, since July of last year. So, please check it out! Today is the fourth anniversary of this blog, so I decided earlier this month that I’d just bite the bullet and share the link with everyone by today. I especially recommend taking a lot at the comparison of translated Japanese femdom games since it’s the most polished page on the wiki.
Some more background on how I feel about all this:
My goal was to effectively move off not just my game list posts, but all my list-style posts, including even my Girls forM artist chart and manga list. But I soon realized that just making comparison pages for games took a lot of effort. As someone who’s partial to Japanese works, I prioritized Japanese femdom games, so the 2 comparison pages related to Japanese games are mostly complete. However, the OEL games pages are far less complete, especially the one for partial OEL games; the “fetish” column should be what people pay most attention to in these comparisons, but I’ve basically left it blank for almost all the works. While it might only take around 5-15 minutes to preliminarily research a single work’s fetishes even if I haven’t played it, I have already hit my own self-imposed deadline of February 21, so I’m afraid you’ll have to see it in such an unfinished state.
It’s a relief to be able to open up the wiki finally. As I worked on constructing the initial pages for this wiki, I spent a lot of time worried about what others would think. Would my way of arranging information seem weird? Would my subjective (but I believe unavoidable) choices about how to label themes and fetishes alienate people? How can I make others feel welcomed, while also maintaining the wiki’s integrity? But at some point, I guess I realized that what matters is that I’m personally satisfied with this, and I can’t control the rest; it’s up in the air. Looking back, the original point of this wiki was just to provide me with a platform to keep my lists up-to-date, and it should serve that purpose well, regardless of the reception. But I do absolutely welcome feedback and contributions (especially for tables that aren’t fully filled in).

Revamp, and Going Forward
Well, I’ve more or less finished my revamp of this blog. That said, there will be another announcement post published later this month, so please look forward to that!
What follows are a few of my thoughts about where I’ve been and where I’m going. Nothing very interesting, but click “Keep reading” if you’d like to see them.
A lot has changed since I started this blog in early 2018. I was initially very uncertain about my direction and not sure whether my content was worth sharing with others.
I picked Tumblr because it was one of the hottest platforms to exchange and discuss adult content. But six months later, Tumblr banned porn. Around this time, most people fled for other sites, but I stuck around because my blog was (fortunately) primarily about industry news, reviews, and opinions.
Tumblr’s policy is actually far more clear-cut and easy to manage than policies of sites like DeviantArt; essentially, nudity is off limits, but fetishes as a blog topic is perfectly acceptable. As I watched femdom content creators experience increasing frustration with platforms like Patreon and Steam over the years, I’ve actually developed an appreciation for the fact that Tumblr does not attempt to discriminate against or judge any particular subfetishes of 2D femdom. Every once in a while, their algorithm thinks it detects nudity in accompanying images, and then I file an appeal and it’s fixed.
By the end of 2018, I had largely burned out from constant blog posts. Since then, I’ve only posted a handful of times a year. I’ve periodically updated some of my popular (in terms of notes) posts as well. Overall, it’s been very manageable.
That said, I was frustrated by a few aspects of my old theme. Among them were the fact that sub-header text appear the same size as regular post text, just bolded, and that I had a lot of horizontal space which wasn’t being used. So early this year, I finally did some research and picked out a cool-seeming theme, Excelle, customizing it to have 2 columns of posts (note that I can specify which posts I want to span both columns!). And instead of a single monochrome header image, I ditched it for a simple text-only header and made a background image that’s an amalgam of the different kinds of 2D femdom that I appreciate.
I also bit the bullet and added tags, not for the same of visibility, but to make my blog easier to navigate. And I added Disqus comment support. (It’s possible to make a comment even if you don’t have an account on Disqus or any other site. See the blog’s About page for more info.) I actually had Disqus added to my blog since 2018, and just disabled it in the theme because I wasn’t satisfied with it, but I realized in retrospect that it’s the best I can expect without going the distance and having a WordPress blog along with my own domain. So yeah, I enabled comments when I switched themes
Last year and the year before, the number of users following my blog shot up a bit, probably because I shamelessly linked it in my f95zone signature. It’s always a happy surprise to have someone say they read a post I made and liked it!
As far as the future of this blog’s concerned, I’m planning to continue to periodically make article-style posts about femdom-related subjects that I like to think about. I still have a lot of those which I’m interested in making. On top of that, I’m planning on effectively “moving” some of my posts offsite (the upcoming announcement is about that). In the future, it’s possible I might try to post more frequently and casually about works that I find cool. (I counted, and found that I read a whopping 87 untranslated femdom manga/CG sets in 2021. And I probably only mentioned one or two of them here, if that.) An example of such a post would be how I made a quick and short post last year to share that Escalation! was released on Steam. Translation also still interests me, even though it may not look like it since I haven’t put out anything recently.
So in sum, I have a lot on my mind, but I don’t expect that much will change about this blog fundamentally.

Merry Christmas 2021

I've decided to do another Christmas post. I'll browse Pixiv mostly every day, so that I can update the post with links to new Christmas-themed femdom (or solo/POV-style domme) art as it comes out. The final update will probably be a few days after Christmas.
No descriptions this time; I'll just mark my personal favorites with ★. I'm also putting 3D art in its own section; I skipped it 3 years ago, but there's so much more of it nowadays that I didn't feel I should. As always, you need to register a Pixiv account to see many of these. From newest to oldest:

Side Talk
Miscellaneous news: EMUCUS returned and put out a new CG set! Also, Seito Edaha is working on a new work (CG set? manga?) around next month, which looks like it's just my type of elf femdom. UFG 2 came out finally too... I just finally beat Sherri on hard mode, so I'll allow myself to fight Selene.
For JAV fans, Luster Don (Tokyo Mixed) temporarily made public the first 12 minutes of The Last Fight as a Christmas present, which will apparently be taken down after the 25th.
2021 was a busy year for me in a lot of ways. There's a long list of sadpanda galleries I still need to check out... Next year, hopefully January but I expect February at the latest, I'll finally take this blog into a new era.
Final update was at 12/29 5:50 AM JST. Happy New Year in advance.

The “This Isn’t Femdom” Chart
Click the chart to see the full-sized (actually readable) version.
Disclaimer: These are all just my opinions, with a bit of comedic/exaggerated characterization mixed in! The goal of this is just to be thought-provoking.
Side Talk
In case anyone’s wondering, yeah, as someone who’s visited a diverse number of femdom communities, I’ve seen multiple examples of every case of “this isn’t femdom” that I listed in the chart, including saying that giantesses don’t feel like women, saying that light bondage is too extreme, and so on. The bottom line is that the internet is a big place.
Oh, and since there have been some arguments about how to define femdom on the F95zone forums lately: to anyone from those forums who reads this post, I want to assure you that this post isn’t meant to target any of you guys. It’s mainly derived from my experiences on 4chan and in sadpanda comments sections, two places where a lot of diverse opinions clash.
This might be my final post of the year, unless I put something small together around Christmas. See you in 2022.

The History and Evolution of Msize

I'm going to talk in detail about the most famous femdom game maker among enthusiasts, Msize, which is a one-man doujin circle run by a man named Riumu.
In June of this year, an Msize game was translated into English for the first time ever, to positive reception: Steps to Love AKA Koibumi. It seems like the perfect time to take a look at where Msize came from. In fact, even people who've known about Msize for years will surely learn some stuff they didn't know before from this article.
History: 2D Femdom Before Msize
In the 1990s, there were no real femdom-themed games. The Japanese erotic game industry was still a relatively small market, and there were few to no doujin games before free or cheap engines like KiriKiri which came out around the turn of the century. If you wanted femdom, you mostly found it as scattered lezdom scenes in works like the PC-98 Raidy series.
In the early '00s, more games with femdom content started to crop up, but many were still a mix of different fetishes. 2000's Bible Black and 2002's Discipline were perhaps the most popular games among femdom fans at the time they came out, for their sexy art and nice femdom scenes, but even they could still be considered a mix of femdom, maledom, and consensual/vanilla scenes.
At the time, Riumu was just a high school student, and he used a different handle for doujin activities.
History: Riumu's Inspirations, and Msize's First Game
Back around the year 2000, when Key's first game Kanon became a hit, an artist who picked the handle Riumu was a fan of it too. He formed a one-man doujin circle called Msize, as both the writer, artist, and engine scripter. For those who don't know, a circle is a unit of one or more people who engage in coordinated creative activities as hobbyists, such as creating manga or games; Msize refers to the circle, and Riumu refers to the person.
Anyway, Riumu first showed up at winter Comiket under the label of Msize in 2002 and sold a doujin manga called Seme Kanon where Kanon's heroine Nayuki lovingly bullies Yuuichi. Back then, it was clear to see that his art style was strongly influenced by Key's artist Hinoue Itaru, as well. From then on, Msize was present at every Comiket and put out a new manga through summer of 2004, for a total of 4 manga.
Msize's fifth work overall but first game, Ijimete Maniac, was made with the free VN engine LiveMaker and came out in summer 2005, both physically and for download on DLsite. (As a bonus, the digital edition of Seme Kanon was included too.) It was pure femdom, had kinky/extreme scenes that were rare to see elsewhere, the art style was beautiful, and above all it delivered the kind of romance that serious femdom fans appreciate--in which the heroine truly stands superior to the male lead, and he finds happiness and fulfillment in his position of subservience to her. Compared to today's VNs, IjiMani only had 680x480 resolution and no voices, but it still quickly achieved recognition among femdom fans, and showed that Msize's written prose was in no way inferior to his art. ...What I consider the first real pure non-hobbyist/corporate femdom games, Mugen Kairou and Shoujo Rensa, didn't even come out until later that same year!
History: Msize, Femdom Game Circle
Msize's second game, Chou Shiritsu! Onnanoko-sama Gakuen, was a lot more ambitious than the first one, with more heroines, a complex setting, a better resolution, an OP theme, and a lengthy trial release (stylized as a promo for the game's female supremacist elite school) that ended up integrated into the main game later. At the same time, he was able to leverage a personal connection to let talented seiyuu from an agency voice his heroines. This kind of voice acting is rare to find in doujin works, especially femdom games; they truly brought the characters to life. In fact, the main heroine of this game was voiced by Kono Kanami, someone who went on to voice the matriarch of 2011's famous femdom game Starless, Mamiya Marie. Onnanoko-sama Gakuen marked the start of Msize's games all having a reputation for excellent voice acting.
In the term period between Msize's first and third game, the circle sold two new manga. However, ever since the third game, Ikisugi! M Lesson came out in 2009, Msize has not sold any more manga. Thus, Msize has been cemented as primarily a femdom game circle. The fifth game that was released in summer 2011, Isu ni Natta Yuusha, was a short RPG released for free; otherwise, every one of the games has only cost about 2000 yen, and although the number of base CGs differs somewhat between them, I'd say the value exceeds the price. I just roughly counted more than 30 base CGs in the most recent 2019 game Akujo no Eikan, which would at least correspond to the "low price" (~3000 yen) category in the corporate eroge industry, when compared purely by that metric. All of this adds to Msize's stellar reputation.
Msize's fifth to eight games were released in 2012, 2015, 2017, and 2019, always in the summer, just like his preceding four. Over time across these eight games, his art has improved dramatically, the resolution has increased from 640x480 to 1280x720, and he's experimented with a wide variety of heroines besides just the schoolgirls of his first two. His ninth game will likely be released in 2022.
While he only sells games, it's worth noting that he has posted standalone art, short CG stories, and occasionally even illustrated short stories on his blog. The short stories are namely Girl Boxing Club 1 in March 2014, Baseball Girl and White-Muddled Nine in August 2016, and The Hero Defeated by a Village Girl in May 2018. That last one actually has a fan translation!
Evolution: Msize's Online Presence
The internet has evolved, and with it how Riumu and Msize connects to people. Before launching his first game, Riumu's main online presence had been on an oekaki BBS, which is an online bulletin board where people share their art semi-anonymously. He also posted sketches, colored art, and (starting in late 2005) blog entries on his circle's first website that was hosted on Sakura Internet's servers, which were home to many other circles at the time. Over the years, he revamped the site to look much more modern, and moved his blog offsite to sblo.jp.
In late 2013, he again moved from sblo.jp to a DLsite blog although the sblo.jp blog is still online. He posted his art and stories there for 6 years, but unfortunately, fate forced him to move once again; DLsite retired its blog hosting amid its push to encourage creators to join its crowdfunding site Ci-en. Since early 2020, his blog can be found on FC2's servers. Since FC2 supports backdating, his posts go all the way back to 2013, at which point they're all the same date, because that's the date he copied over his posts from sblo.jp to the DLsite blog. He has made the FC2 blog his official circle site as well: his site on Sakura Internet's servers doesn't contain new content anymore, just a bunch of his older art.
From what I can tell, Riumu hasn't sold his works in person at Comiket for over a decade now. He used the online shop Comic Toranoana to sell the package editions of his games in the past; currently only his most recent 3 games have their package editions available for purchase on the site, but the download editions are still available for all his games. In the past couple of years, Riumu hasn't blogged much, but there's no mistaking that Msize is currently a circle which relies on the internet.
Evolution: Fetishes in Msize's Games
Feet: What's probably changed the least among Msize's works is the focus on feet as a gateway to femdom. (Note that in Japanese, the common word for feet--ashi--also refers to the entire leg!) The male lead is fascinated by a heroine's legs, and has a strong subconscious urge to get off to them, a desire to worship them or be crushed beneath them, and so on. The heroine, on the other hand, also has at least a latent awareness of the power of her own sexuality, and begins to tease and humiliate him with her feet, with their relationship quickly evolving as a result. For the record, the most foot-focused Msize game heroines are probably Ijimete Maniac's Haruno, M Lesson's Maki, Koibumi's Sachiko, and Jukuatsu's Chieko; as you can see, they typically have the role of "main heroine" in the game.
Scent, Body Hair, Farts, Piss, Scat: Riumu has also not been afraid to expand into more visceral fetishes. Scent-focused ones include sweaty feet and armpits, along with farting scenes. Several of his games have even contained "golden showers" (piss) and scat. To offer the first clear evolution in Msize's works: although there was at least 1 scat scene in each of Msize's first four games (plenty in 2010's fourth game, Hentai Seiheki Dominance) there hasn't been any since then. I'm personally not sure if it's because Riumu "got it all out of his system" with that last game, or whether regulations on doujin games have tightened. At one point I know he was releasing separate patches to uncensor scat.
Heroine Trends: Msize's central heroines tend to be the orthodox type, long-haired childhood friends who are popular at school and have kind demeanors, which is easy to understand when you consider his appreciation for Nayuki from Kanon. His loli heroines tend to possess the so-called "cruelty of children" which refers to the fact that children can be very naive about the moral consequences of what they do, and thus act extremely heartless toward others; these girls tend to engage in ballbusting and anal insertions, abuse the protagonist in groups, treat him like their toy, and typically bully a broad number of people on the side since they have no compunctions to make them hold back.
Evolution: Themes in Msize's Games
More abstractly, Riumu's games have always presented a certain shared setting. He depicts a world in which female supremacy--specifically, the worship of women by men (for their inner fulfillment) combined with the control of men by women (for their amusement, because men need them, and for their own inner fulfillment)--exists at an instinctual level within humans. Not all men or women realize it, but those who do are happy. But actually, in Msize's first game, and to an extent his third and fourth games, these ideas weren't yet firmly cemented into his works.
The first game Ijimete Maniac in particular is a clear pure love story. It's my favorite game from a romance perspective, in fact. I loved the cheesy scene at the end of Suzune's route where he yells out embarrasing things to cheer her on, I loved the subtle unspoken feelings of Haruno's route, and I even appreciated the short epilogue in Arika's route where you see what she looks like years later and sense a hint of her changed personality (Arika sequel route when, Riumu??). The third game M Lesson (in translation currently) and the fourth game Hentai Seiheki Dominance, which are connected to each other--the latter continues from the former's "bad end" with one of the heroines--certainly have somewhat less romantic routes, but are still overall focused on the university student protagonist finding his path in life, with love on the table, and at least one marriage. (By my estimates, Riumu was probably a university student himself during the development of M Lesson.)
But Msize's second game, Onnanoko-sama Gakuen, present a different worldview. It's an explicitly sci-fi setting, unique among his games, in which women have secretly demonstrated their superiority to men since ancient times, and this is the natural order. No longer is interest in femdom something that might depend on an individual's inclinations; it's coded into human genetics.
And so while M Lesson's duology could still be considered a relatively traditional "coming of age" story where the male lead comes to understand his sexuality and finds someone to connect with, starting from the fifth game Koibumi, there's less of a focus on traditional romance and more of a focus on the male lead and the heroines becoming aware of their "true" ideal relationship which was foreshadowed in Onnanoko-sama Gakuen. I'm not saying these games aren't romantic, mind you; Koibumi is very concerned with the characters' feelings. But the dynamic between the male lead and Sachiko feels different than it felt with Haruno or Maki.
Starting from Koibumi, every Msize plot has a romance that proceeds like this: the central heroine and the male lead start to engage in sexual acts, usually centered around her feet, in which he cums but isn't able to put his dick in her (or even see her naked, probably). He's quickly engrossed in how amazing this makes him feel, but after a little while, his insecurities rise to the surface. He wonders whether he should trust her with his money or his love, when she doesn't "need" him and when he's paranoid there are other men; or he feels like these fetish acts are too weird, and has the urge to show her that "he's a man" and have normal sex with her. As a result, he acts tough, or even outright tramples on her good intentions, and maybe even hurts her feelings. Now, here is the moment of truth: will he have the courage to shrug off his worries about how society will see him, recognize that he should accept his masochism and put his trust in her to control him, and submit to her authority for their mutual happiness? Or will he choose not to, which leads to a bad end or otherwise would end his chances with her? I consider this dramatic inner conflict of the male lead to lie at the heart of Koibumi, Jukuatsu, Koifem, and Akujo no Eikan.
I'm not saying there isn't some variation of this plot element in Msize's earlier games, but from Koibumi onward, it feels like the core of the main romance; that's what their relationship is founded upon. Femdom is the proper final evolution of love between men and women. It's notable that there are no more wedding dresses, even in a work with a deeply romantic premise like Koifem; traditional romantic tropes have a reduced presence. So it's clear to me that Riumu refined his vision of femdom romance around the time he put out Koibumi.
Conclusion: Expectations for the Future of Msize
If you weren't familiar with Msize before, I hope this article helped pique your interest in the circle. And if you already were a fan, you probably have a question like this: what more can we expect from Riumu?
For many years now, there have been two things we could concretely expect from Msize: Riumu's occasional (normally several times a year) blog posts with art and/or stories, and a new game that's sold about every 2 years on the first day of summer Comiket. But according to Riumu, he's been busy lately; that would explain why he hasn't posted any standalone art since November 2020, and there was also a whole 9 month space between that contribution and the one before it. Furthermore, his most recent game has had its development stretched out past 2 years, which hasn't happened since 2014 with Jukuatsu. We can probably expect his next game to come out next summer. If you haven't seen it yet, he shared a teaser of the game last May: it's untitled, and the basic premise is that the male lead is dominated by his blood-related mother and his childhood friend.
If you want to know the latest info about Riumu's progress, the best way to find it is to look at his most recent post, click on the title to view the post along with its comments, and look for Riumu's personal comments. Riumu in Japanese is りうむ, so to find posts made by him, Ctrl+F for "りうむ URL" and then look at the comment text that's directly above the lines that match.
For sure, Msize is a labor of love, and it'd be hard to expect Riumu to pace himself any faster. Like most doujin game makers, he's someone with a day job. My impression is that he likely draws from his bubbles of inspiration in his free time to first slowly construct a femdom scenario he likes, then draws the art for it, then scripts it with LiveMaker and sells it. Most likely, based on his life situation, it would be hard to expect him to return to 1 game per year like when he was younger. And sure, if he quit his day job, he could probably make a living just on Msize sales, but I doubt that's what he wants for himself, and the quality of his works would probably decrease if he had to force out yearly or monthly content instead of letting his inspiration drive him.
I've often talked to other fans about our hopes and expectations for what kind of game we want Riumu to make. After all, Riumu is a true artist who constantly tries to come up with new femdom dynamics in his games, so there's no way to know what he'll come up with next. Even the format of his games isn't set in stone; Akujo no Eikan was his first kinetic novel and first game with multiple male protagonists. Anyway, each fan has their own favorite femdom situations Msize hasn't made a game from yet, or past Msize games which they loved so they want to see more of the same.
We can speculate based on past trends, though. To start, Msize clearly has a bias toward high school girls, as well as high school settings. Same for experienced adult women. Loli characters are rarer, but there tends to be one if the game is more centered around a "theme" than around a heroine, i.e. when there are 3+ routes/heroines. Plots tend to be relatively grounded modern day settings too, although Onnanoko-sama Gakuen and parts of Jukuatsu were an exception. And of course, the short free game Isu ni Natta Yuusha is an exception too.
Above all though, there are hints which stare us in the face: the art and short stories that Riumu shares on his blog. In May and August of 2016, while Koifem was in development, Riumu posted a short CG set and then a short story. Both of them are about boys' sports clubs in a subservient position. The first CG set in particular depicts a kouhai manager who looks very familiar, doesn't she? And the short story is about the downfall of a boys' baseball club, courtesy of the girls' softball club. Of course, Riumu was busy working on Koifem at the time, but after that, he started development on Akujo no Eikan, which clearly shares the same inspiration as these short works. For other examples, the winter 2002 doujin “Iu Koto Kiite yo!! Onii-chan” featured a loli named Arika, and then the exact same heroine (face and name) showed up in mid-2005's Ijimete Maniac. And these two CG sets, which were drawn during development of Jukuatsu, seem to foreshadow Koifem.
With all this in mind, it's natural to wonder if Riumu's inspiration related to the female supremacist kingdom Aphrodia will ever become a game, since he depicted it in his art three times between January 2014 and December 2018. The "Hero Defeated by a Village Girl" short story from May 2018 is another fantasy premise which could potentially reappear as a game one day. That said, some settings just tend to be more strenuous to write for some writers. It's perhaps telling that Isu ni Natta Yuusha ended up being so short and shallow; Riumu is clearly most comfortable with school-related settings. Personally though, I'd love it if this android could be an Msize game heroine one day.
You can also look forward to fan translations of Msize games. While femdom games are still a niche that's too small to justify the expenses for most localization companies, mortalvyses stepped up and translated Steps to Love (Koibumi) and has already translated part of M Lesson. New translator pixvoliv has also said they are translating Jukuatsu.
Bonus: #hentai-femdom's Msize Heroine Fan Popularity Tiers
Earlier this year, I shared on Discord a TierMaker that a friend helped me make. Myself included, six cool people offered their opinion on which Msize heroines they loved the most. Today, I've finally calculated the mean average for each heroine (weighed with S tier as 500 points, A tier as 400 points, all the way down to D tier). Behold!
Click it to see the full size version. I think this result is quite fair, don't you? The most popular heroines are Manami (450), Suzune (400), and Sachiko (400). To display these results, I roughly settled on S tier as 400+ average, A tier as 300+ average, and so on. Ordered from left to right by most to least points. However, I sometimes used my personal judgment to decide the tier for heroines on the border (such as 400 or 200 average). The sample size was only 6, after all; I feel like that can excuse some minor manipulation of the way results are presented.
By the way, I accidentally neglected to include Kanako and Mayu, who are friends of Arika from Ijimete Maniac, in the tier choices. I know that at least one person would have put Kanako in the S tier, if I'd remembered.
Side Talk
I haven’t seemed as active on this blog lately because I’ve been preparing to revamp it, and the preparation for that has eaten up tons of time over the course of months. I’m at the point where I’m cutting corners so I can try to wrap it up in early 2022.
2021, huh... It was another pandemic year, more or less. And as I anticipated, a lot happened in terms of 2D femdom. The commercial version of Incubus Quest came out, and it felt more like “serious” femdom than so many other doujin femdom RPGs that are all about arbitrary reverse rape, but at the same time it failed to deliver a deep experience of submission. Too many heroines, too little depth. Mistresses join and leave your party at your free discretion without a word, and do or say nothing when they’re with you unless you specifically prompt them to. Still, between this and finally playing Pandora no Mori, I have renewed hope for the potential of Japanese femdom RPGs. Oh, I never got around to playing Sakusei Byoutou, but mortalvyses did! A sequel is also in the works, presumably continuing the plot of the original doujin series.
We recently finally got confirmation that doskoinpo is making a game, due to be released in a couple of days. He joined DLsite’s Ci-en and Pixiv Fanbox a few months ago, and his most recent CG set has only been distributed there, in two parts. I deeply appreciated the style of his two most recent CG sets, which conveys the narrative through the inner thoughts of the male lead... the endings have been letdowns, though. And sadly, the trial version of his upcoming game has very buggy scripting. I hope he fixes it for the full release.

Hi, i would like to add some information to prevquestion daybefore. Manga(prefer colours) similar to stepmother friends. I liked their bodiesand how they were animated, the protagonist virgin uselessguy who managed to have some sex and that a secret was revealed and to protect himselfand his friend he made a bet with the woman that knew the secret, if he win she wont say anything, if he lose he becomes slave and wi[ed/fisted/pegged by mothers friend whos domi without his mother knowing it and .
[The question was cut off at the end due to a character limit, and continued into another question that read: “stepmother friends something similar to that but with fendom stuff like strap ons“. Also, it was asked on November 6th; I’m a little late answering.]
Hey, if I read you right, you’re referencing the full color web manhwa Stepmother’s Friends to say that you like the art style and elements of the plot, and are asking if I know of anything similar to it but with more heavy femdom like pegging or fisting.
I’ve just looked up Stepmother’s Friend now on sadpanda as well, and I see that it has at least blackmail, a footjob, and maybe reverse rape, but nothing else, really. Most of the scenes aren’t women dominating, they’re being horny and assertive. So I can understand wanting something more seriously femdom than this. The alternative premise you came up, becoming the stepmother’s friend’s slave, would be a nice development.
As for the answer to your question though, I’m sorry: I currently don’t read many full color web manhwa (webtoons), and since they’re not tagged well on their places of serialization and most aren’t uploaded to sadpanda, it’s hard for me to look up info about them. The best I can do is point you to a list of 7 Korean webtoons with pegging and leave the rest to you, though I’ve only personally tried one of them.

Note
are there any femdom games with foot licking/worship scenes?
Absolutely.
For Japanese VNs translated into English - Sachiko from Steps to Love. Several heroines from So I Heard You Like Sadistic Women. The heroines of Sadistic Sisters R*pe Boy. (Those three were all translated by mortalvyses.) Reina has 1+ scene in I Become the Dog In a All Female Household. Escalation, if you count heel-licking. More examples for untranslated VNs here. For a non-VN, there’s Incubus Quest, which has a partial TL.
For original English language games - Tower of Trample. Tiffany’s Trap. Domina. Katalist. Games by Darktoz. Dominatrix Simulator, a VR game where you physically put your head where the boot is.

Heads Up: "Escalation!" is out on Steam
I just wanted to alert anyone who visits this blog, and didn't find out already, that Escalation! (complete with its official English translation) was just released for Steam!
It's an explicit 18+ game, so you can't see the contents of that Steam link unless you're logged into Steam.
I'm really pleased that NM put in the hard work to publish in there, so that more people around the world can be exposed to this awesome femdom game.

Early 2021 Upcoming Game Prospects Overview
Generally speaking, I don't post about random 2D femdom news anymore. But recently, I’ve just felt like talking about how interesting 2021 is looking so far.
Confirmed Games
Incubus Quest, which many people heard of and even played beta versions of years ago, should finally be completed, with voice acting and redone CGs and all the polish it needs, this year. It's been fascinating watching this game evolve over the years. To those not familiar with it, the name makes it sound like a generic monster girl RPG, and it's true that it's an RPG Maker MV game set in a fantasy world... But there's a very strong D/s theme that runs through the game, and the enemies aren't especially monstrous; many are humans. So aesthetically it feels a lot like a traditional BDSM-oriented femdom story. I love the "sex slave system" in which you can raise your loyalty stat with a particular mistress and get her to join your party.
1micron, formerly known as 100KCAL, is at work on their upcoming game called SM Gakuen. To those not familiar with them, they make femdom VNs that are usually a few hours long, with a lot of heavy/brutal fetishes including castration. The plot of this one is that in a near-future femdom society where it's natural for men to serve dominatrixes as slaves, you're a student applying to enter an ojou-sama school, and your entrance exam involves one particular ojou-sama who personally trains you for a week. Anyway, it's close to done; mori needs to hear back from the seiyuu. Hopefully we'll see a release in March or April.
The writer-artist duo behind Herencia's femdom games is back, and now they're employed by Lune. (If you missed the news, Herencia closed down in late 2019.) Their first game at Lune, S Kano, has a premise that somehow reminds me of the recent highly successful game Escalation (even sounding very similar to the name of Escalation's setting’s original name, S na Kanojo) but promises that it's for "soft masochists". While I'm sure that means it won't feature the strict discipline of Escalation or Prison Queendom, I’m still hopeful there will be a few fetishes I enjoy... unfortunately, the current sample CGs depict extremely soft stuff (like, boobjobs and blowjobs without even a femdom atmosphere) so I kind of question whether anyone into femdom will even buy this, unless Lune shows off sample CGs with harder femdom later on. Anyway, the game will be out on March 26.
A VN adaptation of Sakusei Kenkyuusho's famous (I mean that literally... it trended on Twitter; see my News Roundup for the Second Half of 2019 post) CG set series Sakusei Byoutou has been announced this year, too. The production values look decent, but it looks like another writer (not the person behind the 1-man-circle Sakusei Kenkyuusho) is adapting the script from the CG set to the VN, so I'm a little worried that the writing will be somehow ruined. The art looks great, though. That's coming out on April 30. If it sells well, I could easily imagine more Sakusei Kenkyuusho works being adapted into games, or even created as games first... For more info about this game and S Kano, check out the recent posts in mortalvyses's blog.
Games to Hope For
I'm not hopeful for more Msize this year, unfortunately. Last month, Riumu confirmed that he's still working on his next game. However, from the tone of how he talks about it, and the fact he's just doing bits of the scenario here and there, I don't expect him to finish it by this August. In which case, I will probably expect it to come out in August 2022... EMUCUS and Majikoro/Sadistic Alice have also been silent.
But maybe this will be the year of the doskoinpo game... In his first blog post of the year, he said that this year, for sure, he wants to make a game. It's something he has mentioned in the past, even making some simple game screenshot mock-ups, but never talked seriously about. Again, for the record, doskoinpo's art has been in games before, but there's never before been a game that he both drew *and* wrote. We'll have to wait for more info from him about this, because it looks to be still at the conceptual stage... But if he keeps putting out a new manga every month, I'll assume he isn't making time for game development.
I'm hyped for Girl Beats Hero Chapter 3. The epic conclusion of Boko877's previous GBH game, CP2 (aka Chapter 2), showed how Boko's writing ability has grown a lot, and made me excited for what was to come. Boko implied that he'll start development of CP3 after he finishes Selene in UFG2, and he's close to done. Check out how cool Shayna is after she's ignored Auphemia's warning and gotten herself mystic eyes.
Chinbotsu Tower, who's one my favorite pure irojikake artists, has also started working on an RPG.
Side Talk
I've updated my mainstream manga list for the first time in a while to add several new titles.
The anime Redo of Healer features lots of maledom, but almost as much femdom in the flashbacks (because the story premise is that the male protagonist is getting revenge for the femdom). In the past, a villainous princess heaped humiliation upon the protagonist who she forced to become addicted to drugs. You need to watch the ATX version to see the complete explicit scenes (the official subs use the censored video, so use a fansub group like SSA). Check out episode 3 from 3:55 to 6:30 for what's probably the best scene...
I’m about halfway through scanlating a new manga chapter... It’s just something really niche that I’ve wanted to scanlate for more than five years now.
I doubt anybody’s curious, but for the record, I did make a collage for this post... but I decided it was too ugly to use.
