I Want To Be There For You (Felix x Reader)

The cold air sent a small shiver through Felix as he made his way from the training grounds to the dining hall.

It's freezing.

Upon hearing soft footsteps, he looked up to find you walking towards him with a warm smile. If the air was as warm as that smile, he wouldn't have to hold back and shivers and shakes from the cool.

"Hi, Felix!"

He gave you a tiny nod and you joined him once you caught up with him.

"Going to eat, finally?"

"I have to eat at some point, (y/n)."

If you didn't know him, you'd think he's being rude. But you knew him enough to know he was attempting to joke with you.

"Okay, snappy," you giggled.

It stayed silent for a bit before you opened your mouth to speak.

"Hey, Felix?"

"Hm?" He grunted. His eyes flicked towards you and met yours before looking back ahead. Your eyes were a pretty (e/c), and he could honestly get lost. It confused him at first because he never had that feeling before, but he grew to just accept it after a while of trying to changed it but to no avail.

"Are you okay?"

The messy haired man sighed. "I'm fine, (y/n)."

You didn't want to push it, but you knew your best friend was lying.

"Felix..."

He didn't say anything as you both arrived at the dining hall to retrieve food. Once you got your serving, you waited for Felix then sat down in your usual spots.

The meal was a bit quiet. You wanted to start conversation, but you knew he was training and wanted to eat to get back there as soon as he could. You decided to just accompany him on the way back and stick around to watch.

"You're quiet."

You looked up to see Felix looking at you. He had a faint look of surprise on his face.

"I was just letting you eat so you could go back to your training. I assumed that's what you were doing after eating."

"Hm," he shrugged before taking another bite of food.

It stayed quiet again and once you both had your fill, the trek through the cold to get to the training grounds was started.

"Felix?"

"Yes, (y/n)?" He sighed. He was trying not to become irritated, because he knew you were just concerned.

"Please tell me what's wrong."

"I'm fine, (y/n). There is nothing to worry about, so stop wasting your time."

You stopped walking. Felix stopped a few steps after you to turn and look back towards your shocked figure.

"Stop wasting my time...? Felix, you're my best friend how in the name of the Goddess am I wasting my time?!" You refuted.

"Because nothing is wrong."

"You're acting weird, Felix! You're unfocused in class, you spend more time in the training grounds than usual, which is saying something because you are always in there. I actually wonder if you have a spare bed set to sleep on."

His shoulders shifted a bit in a shrug as a faint smile appeared in his face.

"But you're acting off. On missions , you're fantastic. But you seem like you're losing focus at some points. I'm not the only one who's noticed it."

"Yeah? Who else?"

"Sylvain, Dimitri-"

He scoffed. "Of course the boar sees it."

"Seriously? People are concerned for you!"

"And I'm fine! Nothing is wrong!"

Your blood boiled. The cold was long forgotten at this point, along with the studying you planned to do in the grounds as you watched Felix.

"Felix Hugo Fraldarius stop lying to me! I can see right through it!"

"Well whatever it is you're seeing doesn't exist."

"Oh, so now I'm blind?!"

Felix didn't say anything as he turned on his heel to continue walking. He knew you were right. He wasn't "fine".

But how is he supposed to tell you he is having nightmares about his brother? How is he supposed to say he has nightmares that something will go wrong on a mission and you, the professor, and the rest of the class would get hurt? How is he supposed to say that on top of it all, he likes his best friend standing in front of him? How he feels bad for taking you worry? How is he, the strong and independent Felix Hugo Fraldarius, supposed to say he isn't okay?

"Felix!"

He walked through the doors to the training grounds to set up new training dummies. He didn't jump when you burst through the doors a minute later.

You were livid. Why lie to you? Yeah, he hates telling people when something is wrong, but you're his best friend who he tells everything to. Why can't he tell you this?

"(Y/n) I'm not in the mood right now-"

"I just want to be there for you!"

He didn't look at you as he continued to set the dummies up.

"Why won't you let me?"

He huffed and turned to face you.

Dammit.

You looked like you were about to cry, and he wasn't good with your tears. At all.

"Look, (y/n)," Felix started. "I know you want to be there for me, I really do."

"T-Then tell me what's wrong... What's so horrible? Did I-I do something?"

"What? No-" he ran his hands over his face and sighed again.

"I'll sing for you, comfort you, spar with you, or even just keep you company anytime you ask! Even if I'm super groggy or I'm sick! I wanna be there for you!"

He looked at you. His heart jumped and his breath tightened in his chest. He felt bad for worrying you so much. Hearing you say that made him feel cared for. Most people just left him alone when he said he was fine, but your concern made him relax enough to tell you. It was all so weird he couldn't describe it.

"I'm having nightmares, (y/n)," your best friend mumbled softly.

You stared at him.

"I'm having nightmares about missions and my brother...," He trailed off.

You looked at him softly.

"That's okay. It's alright to have nightmares and talk about them with someone. You can tell people when you aren't okay, Felix. You don't have to keep this strong and cold type look all the time."

"I've told you that much, so I suppose I should tell you everything."

You tilted your head.

"I don't have feelings like this often, if at all."

It clicked. He liked you.

You gave him a soft, knowing smile.

He sighed in relief, glad he didn't have to say it because he honestly didn't know how.

"I want to be here for you whenever and wherever and for whatever it may be," you spoke quietly with a smile.

He sighed in relief. It felt nice to talk about it and have someone he could talk to, and he was glad it wasn't anyone else but you.

It was silent for a few minutes. Neither of you knew what to say or do.

You liked him back if course, and we're delighted he shared your feelings. But you didn't want to ask him out when he just told you he was struggling with nightmares.

"I don't know what to do next or say," you spoke with a soft giggle and smile.

"I don't either," Felix responded.

"I would be glad to be by your side and be there for you along the road, if you'd let me of course."

Felix thought for a moment then nodded slowly.

"Well, Felix, I'm more than happy to be with you."

Sure beans. This is what I see them doing when they hug the reader, and I've thought about his before so this was good to write down how I see some of the characters when it comes to these things. 💜 I just wanted their basic every day hugs for this one, so here you go!

Hugs? (Headcanons)

Ashe

Ashe is the type of guy who gets shy about hugging people, but he overall doesn't mind it.

He actually really enjoys hugs despite being a bit of a shy baby.

Even after those five years passed, he still remains to a be a shy baby boi-

So when you asked for a hug, he had no problems and openly accepted it (with a tad bit of pink across his face of course).

His hugs are soft and gentle, one arm wrapped over the shoulders and the other around the waist under your arm.

Before he pulls away, he gives your back a pat with his hands. His hugs are the classic ones like that.

Hubert

Hubert isn't exactly the hugging type...

He is very awkward when you ask him for one, asking you why you want one. He knows friends hug, but he's never really done that.

With his mind being so set on Edelgard and her plans with the war, thinking about hugging someone was a completely foreign thing.

When he hugs you, he's very stiff like a board.

With his height, his arms go over your shoulders all the time. Plus he doesn't want to make things awkward settling his hands on your waist.

When Hubert pulls away, he always gives a slight nod like you give when your greeting someone. It never fails. The rare times he hugs someone or hugs you, he always gives that tiny nod. It's honestly really cute.

Sylvain

Sylvain loves hugs!

No, not in a perverted way. He is just a very open and relaxed guy, so of course he loves hugs from his friends.

When you asked for a hug, he smiled and held his arms out to hug you. He has always enjoyed giving friends hugs, and with the war, he makes sure to value them a whole lot more. It's reassuring for him getting to hug those he hugged back in the days of the academy before everything went dark.

His hugs are warm and firm, showing his friendship and affection towards the ones he hugs. He low-key has the bear hug grip with the arms over your shoulders, just without it being so tight that you can't breathe or it hurts. He also gives the occasion hair ruffle to you as well.

He gives pats on the head or shoulder to those he hugs after pulling away. It never fails. He pulls away, and there is that pat on the head or shoulder.

Caspar

Caspar enjoys hugs from his friends. He doesn't really react a specific way to them, he just sees it as a hug.

So when you ask for a hug, he's cool with it. You're a good friend of his.

His hugs are kind of a mix between Ashe and Sylvain. He has the firmness that Sylvain gives, but he has the same stance Ashe has where he has one arm around your waist and the other over your shoulder.

His habit after hugging someone is giving a bright, closed-eyes smile. When he pulls away from you, he flashes you a sweet closed-eyes smile and it warms your heart. During the hug, he rubs your back and occasionally rests the side of his head against yours. He's a sweetie.

In the times of the war, he still flashes the same smile he gave during the academy days those five years ago. And it makes you overjoyed to know that something hasn't changed, and you're glad it's that trait of his.

Raphael

Raphael is a sweet guy who enjoys physical affection.

When you ask for a hug after a rough day gathering supplies for the monestary, he is more than delighted!

His hugs are definitely the tight bear hugs where he rocks side to side with you. He makes sure you're able to breathe and he isn't hurting you, but they are definitely tight and reassuring.

During the hug, he rocks side to side. Occasionally he will spin around while hugging you. You love when he does this, especially in the war troubled times you all are stuck in. Everyone could use that bit of happiness from a hug, and he's the perfect one to provide it.

Linhardt

Linhardt is very indifferent to hugs. He doesn't exactly think about them much, especially given the times everyone is in.

His hugs are just like him, very lazy. He usually gives one of the side hugs or one armed hugs around the shoulders.

When you ask for a hug because you're exhausted and worn out from cleaning the monastery, he just yawns and nods, holding an arm out for you.

During the hug, he leans into you and rests his head on your shoulder. When you two hug, you always run your fingers through his hair and to him it feels nice and reassuring.

Ferdinand

Ferdinand is a optimistic guy who enjoys giving hugs to his friends.

When you ask for one after a bad training session, he laughs and gladly embraces you.

His hugs are warm and loving, his arms around your shoulders and hands brushing through your hair.

You love playing with his long hair as well when you two hug and it's honestly a cute thing between you two.

He also treasures hugs a lot more with the war going on. He treats every hug like it could be the last, so he makes sure to fill it with reassurance and love.

I have so many fluffy male Byleth thoughts in my head (he is precious gosh I love him-) so I decided to do Headcanons! I hope you don't mind, lovely 💜 I hope you enjoy my fluffy male Byleth headcanons.

Fluffy Male!Byleth x Reader (Headcanons)

Byleth has never had much social interaction with people other than bandits, his father, and the students of the academy so a relationship is quite new to him.

In a relationship, he doesn't know the first thing about physical contact.

You are usually the one to initiate hand holding and hugs. When he initiates it, it's the cutest thing seeing his face have a slightly pink dust brushed over it.

He invites you to tea a lot and he really enjoys soft dough rolls with a tiny bit of honey drizzled over it and you make sure to bring some extra ones for him.

He's always worried for you whenever you go out on missions and is always a lot more open to cuddles (and initiating them) whenever you get back.

He knows you're capable, he just wishes he was there to give you extra protection. You're his special sweetheart, and Goddess forbid anything happen to you (and they better pray to the Goddess if they hurt you or lie a hand on you)

Byleth's perfect form of a date is just being with you. Since he is socially awkward when it comes to dates and relationships, he doesn't have a preference to anything overall. He just loves being with you.

Whenever you are have having a bad day, he always sits and listens to you for however long you would like to talk about it. He doesn't push it unless it's an extremely big problem such as bullying or health, etc.

Byleth's door is always open for you if you ever have nightmares. When you have a nightmare or you just miss him, you're more than welcome to stay with him and talk, or just head to his quarters. He is never bothered when you do stay the night with him.

He loves when you do that. It makes him feel all warm and fuzzy and happy that you go to him to feel comforted.

When they two of you cuddle, you're always curled up into his chest or you have your face buried in the crook of his neck. He has his arms wrapped around you gently. He always asks if it's too tight because he's scared he will accidentally hurt you. Byleth is a strong man---

You wouldn't expect it, but he will get into little play fights with you. Sometimes you two stack your hands on top of each other and see how long it goes and tickle fights.

It really surprised you because you and him were playing around and you poked his side and he jumped a little bit and swatted your hand away gently. You asked if he was hurt and all he said was "no." It then hit you this man is ticklish. Byleth. Is. Ticklish. And it all started from there.

You enjoy playing with his hair. You give him little braids, swoop it over to one side, massage his scalp and just comb your fingers through his blue locks.

He melts when you do this. He doesn't know why exactly, but he just melts and it makes him a bit sleepy. When it makes him sleepy, you'll find him slowly leaning back into your chest and he will sometimes doze off into a little light sleep with his back against your chest, his head resting back into your shoulder.

He tutors you over tea time when you need or want him to. He always makes sure to have extra tea and sweets in case you too get distracted or decide to sit and talk for a while afterwards.

You love challenging Byleth during training. You enjoy showing him what you've learned and you adore the soft look on his face when he is proud of you or soft for you because of how happy you are.

You give him kisses on the nose, and he gives you kisses on the forehead. After every hug, he gives you a gently kiss on the forehead. It took him a while to build up the nerve to do so (he was worried because he's never done this thing before), but he loves it.

Byleth doesn't mind PDA. You hug him in public? Cool beans. Kiss him on the nose? Cute. Hold his hand? He doesn't mind. He loves it.

You were talking to Dimitri, Sylvain, and Felix. The four of you were training in the training room the day before and when Sylvain said he should've stretched first, you let it out.

"Because training and pushing yourself without stretching is definitely a smart thing to do," you commented shaking your head.

"Hey, what can I say? I was eager to train. I also had a date with a girl later that night. I wanted to squeeze some time in."

"Mhmmm. Dates are totally more important than muscle health."

Dimitri looked at you with an look on his face, slightly mixed with shock.

Seeing your short temper only made him even more amused and shocked.

You were fighting with Felix over a technique. Dimitri was sitting there cleaning his lance when it broke out.

You and Lorenz bicker a lot, and it is a highlight of his day watching someone settle Lorenz down in his place every once in a while.

Of course! I don't know much about Edelgard's personality because I'm playing through the Blue Lions route (it's my first route and I'm honestly not real far into it because I don't have a switch of my own ( a friend is coming over and he's watching me play through it and fangirl over Dimitri and panic every time I battle because I'm on classic mode much to his humor 😂) and I know some spoilers already but I'm still trying to stay as clear as I can from what I don't know). Bestfriend Edelgard Headcanons

You and Edelgard are extremely close friends.

Whenever you need anything, she's right there with you. You need training advice? She's got you. Relationship? On her way.

You and Edelgard enjoy sitting in the courtyard together talking about goddess knows what.

Hubert intimidated you at first, his cold eyes calculating you with every move you made, especially around Edelgard.

Hubert eventually warmed up to him when you stood up to him.

"Your intimidating eyes don't scare me anymore and I'm not going to turn away because you don't like me, Hubert."

He was alright with you after that. It takes a lot for someone to stand up to him like you did, and he respects you for it.

You're always there to help Edelgard stop Claude's little schemes, and you're always the referee between her and Ferdinand.

It's amusing to watch Ferdinand and Edelgard bicker and argue. Listening to her rant about it is also really funny to you, and she laughs alongside you.

You met Edelgard a few years before you two entered the officers academy and have been nearly inseparable since then.

She loves to call you her tactician because you always help her come up with strategies for hypothetical battles, the mock battles, training exersizes, etc.

The both of you enjoy tea together and sitting together in the library, talking about the schemes that Claude and other students try to pull, the future of the Empire and Fódlan as a whole, and many other topics. You two also talk about admirable qualities of other students too.

She's always giving you suggestions for the best weapons to use and the best teas to try.

She's honestly very thankful to have you in her life. You're a breath of fresh air and you're her confidant (alongside Hubert of course), and she has no idea what she would do without you.

Tarzan AU! (Dimitri Headcanons)

Young Dimitri was obviously terrified being lost in the wild. Being in the middle of a storm didn't help his panic and fear either.

He hid himself inside of a large tree trunk for shelter for the first bit of his life living there. The more he ran and tried to find a way out, the more lost he became in the vast territory.

Upon watching animals from afar, he learned about what plants and berries he could eat. He knew about many plants and berries already from his studies he would have at home, but the ones he didn't recognize he paid close attention to.

Most children don't think about the things they eat that are healthy for them, but after resigning to the fact that he was stuck, he began to pay attention to his health a lot more. He was a smart kid.

Berries and plants alone wouldn't keep him alive. He was becoming terribly skinny and he needed things more sufficient. Things turned to his favor when he tripped one day, and he looked down to see what looked like a pole sticking diagonally out of the ground.

That was how he found the thing that would help him acquire food: an old lance. Dimitri chalked it up to belong to a traveler that had once been through the area a long time ago based on how old it looked.

As years passed by, he learned ways to camouflage, hide, and hunt animals and make animal calls. He learned the best places around to drink water from, and he learned how to build himself a stable place to sleep and stay.

Something Dimitri absolutely wasn't expecting was to run into a group of lions. He never heard of such animals residing there from what he could remember, so he was quite stunned.

It had been about three years after he got lost and he never saw one until then. They ended up in a standoff over an animal that Dimitri had just killed. Not knowing what exactly to do about it -and fearing he would be chased if he ran- he used his lance to push it over to them before crouching down and backing away.

That wasn't the first close encounter, either. Dimitri heard splashes in a water stream nearby and when he went to see what it was, there was a lion cub. He thought it was just playing around as animals do, but when he saw it was tangled in thick briar brushes, he went to try and cut it out.

It could've been food, sure, but he could stand to see it like that. He just couldn't, so he decided to help it.

Right on the last few vines, what he assumed to be the father or leader showed up. It crouched and snarled at him, and watched him closely. When he delivered the drenched cat across the stream to the large animal, he backed away.

This proved to help him a lot, because whenever they ran into each other, the most the lions would do was look at him, and occasionally snarl. And it went in like that for a few years.

Dimitri honestly feared for his life when the lion cub he saved started following him around more and more. The adult cats didn't like it very much, but they strangely didn't hurt him. They left him be after snarling at him.

His life with the animals and the lions went on, until one day when a woman with blue hair and blue eyes came along with a group of people. He would come to know her as Byleth.

I'm assuming Sylvain is faced with either rejection, flirting back, or just avoiding him altogether. How about somebody who doesn't notice he's flirting and just thinks that he's a really sweet dude who is also a dumbass so she just smiles and goes along with it, giving him gifts as well and just being a pal and sweet, then it's like he starts getting really touchy and one day he tries to kiss her and she's like "Woah? Dude where did this come from? We're bros! We hold hands and cuddle not kiss"

Sylvain is a really flirty guy. Everyone knows that.

You knew this very well with you being really good friends with him.

The friendship you have with Sylvain is a close one. You guys hug and cuddle, link arms while walking around, you two are just very close.

You're also a very physical person in a friendship. You show your affection through physical contact such as head pats and hugs and high fives and cuddles when needed.

The two of you also show each other appreciation and affection by giving gifts to each other often.

You knew he flirted with people a lot, but what you didn't realize was that he was flirting with you and had been for a while.

He didn't see you as just someone to flirt with, he sees you as one of his best friends, and he also likes you.

When he started giving you gifts a bit more often, you didn't think much of it. And when you would return the affection he showed, he somewhere along the line misread you, and thought you liked him too.

When the group positioned themselves in a small market town for the second night of a four day mission, it had only been a few hours of resting before soldiers from the Western Church paired with bandits attacked. They had waited until the group was drifting off asleep and only two remained on watch. You were one of the two, and before you knew it, there was yelling and the clinging and clanging of weapons hitting each other. Then there was an intense pain in your side and you fell to the ground out of dizziness. Looking down at your side, you saw an arrow embedded inside you before passing out.

Mercedes was waiting for your mission to end. She was more and more excited every hour that passed because she was one hour closer to seeing you again. She prayed everything would go well, and that maybe you could come home early. But your early arrival wasn't what she was hoping or expecting it to be.

One of the knights that went on the scouting trip with you came rushing through the gates on horse back with you slumped around him. He raced to the infirmary as Mercedes was making her way to the market and when he rode past, she saw your pale and ragged face. She dropped everything she was carrying and ran after him as fast as she could, panic growing with every step she took.

"(Y/n)!" She yelled as she ran inside the infirmary. Manuela was helping the Knight quickly settle you onto a bed and ordered him to hand her supplies.

"What happened?!" Mercedes asked as she tried her best to breathe and see through the tears threatening to spill.

The knight rushed out an explanation as Mercedes began helping Manuela with your cleaning and healing process.

"(Y/n)..."

"Merci... Please get some sleep. You need it-"

"I'm okay," Mercedes reassured as she smiled at you. "Don't worry about me."

"You've been helping me for a week. I leave the infirmary next week. I'll be alright, lovely," you explained, watching your girlfriend retrieve a glass of water.

"I love helping you. And I want to make sure you're okay."

"I'm just worried you aren't taking care of yourself because you're here. You look exhausted-"

"Let me take care of you."

You went silent and looked at your loving girlfriend. You took in her tired and pale appearance and your heart sank. She looked like she needed rest immediately yet here she was.

"(Y/n), I am taking care of myself just fine. Truth be told, I stayed up late studying the past few nights. I promise I am okay. I'm going to bed early tonight, so please don't worry."

"Merci..."

"You're injured. Please, let me take care of you."

You gave her a soft smile.

"You're too sweet to me, you know that? Just please rest more okay?"

Mercedes leaned down and kissed your forehead with a smile.

Dimitri knew of your love for animals when friendship first blossomed between the two of you.

You loved petting and feeding the stray cats and dogs that wandered the school grounds, and he would join you on walks and pet them alongside you whenever you would start petting them. He thought it was really sweet and kind for you to show love to the strays.

When Dimitri went out to search for his beloved s/o (you), and couldn't find you anywhere, he became confused. Where could you be?

On his search, he asked a few students and Byleth if they knew of your whereabouts.

"She's in the infirmary," Sylvain explained.

Upon seeing Dimitri's intense look of worry, Sylvain spoke again.

"She's just taking care of some animals that were injured. It's alright."

When arriving to the infirmary, he walked in and stopped in his tracks upon seeing the crowd of animals.

"Oh! Hello, Dimitri! What brings you here, love?"

"I-I was just looking for you...," He stuttered, still in surprise.

"I hate to ask this of you, b-but would you be willing to help me with these sweethearts? I think I took on too much than I alone can deal with," you asked shyly.

He smiled and nodded before walking over to you and asking what he should do to help.

He helped you with the animals for the rest of the evening (taking time to make sure you ate dinner), and then he helped you return them outside before walking you to your quarters and telling you goodnight and sweet dreams.

Felix wasn't surprised to find you in the greenhouse surrounded by the stray cats of the monestary.

You jumped and looked up at Felix with a sheepish look on your face.

"I-I saw some injured strays and decided to help them."

See, you had a day off to roam around the monestary and decided to go check up on the animals around the grounds.

The horses and dragons were your favorite animals at the monestary. A lot of missions had been happening lately, and many students had been training with them.

You had been walking around and checking for swelling before making your next lap and checking for injuries on their wings and feet, and stopped to brush a horse's mane out.

"I have been looking for you since lunch! I should've known you would be here since you didn't return to the training grounds," he laughed.

You had spent most of the morning and mid day training with Sylvain and doing schoolwork for Byleth alongside him.

The two of you took a short break before lunch. After eating with Sylvain, you two agreed to go and rest a little. You wanted to see the animals and feed them before you went to your quarters, so you stopped by there.

When you saw a horse with a scrape down the side of it's left front leg, you choked back an upset gasp.

You had such a big love for animals and seeing that broke your heart. You saw another horse with a big knot in it's beard, and a dragon with a small tear in it's wing and decided to check every single one that you could. They had been used for missions a lot lately, so this was to be expected. They get hurts sometimes.

Sylvain had agreed to meet you at the training grounds, so when you didn't show up at the discussed time, he went searching.

He eventually found you in the stable court yard.

"How are you taking care of them?"

"Natural medicine and magic. I want to make sure they are in the best condition and healthy. They live and feel battle, too," you explain as you brushed through the horse's mane.
