Took me an embarrassingly long time to get around to making a ref for my tfa sona but whatever. Here is the silly incompetent constructor. I GUESS you could say she's kinda like a worse version of Wheeljack... *sighs sadly and kicks a pebble*. If you have questions about her, just ask ^_^
I know it doesn't really make sense BUT I really liked the idea of extra blades as these kinda butterfly/fairy wings. Plus I just wanted my sona to be able to fly in general. So it is what it is ^_^

Slightly more accurate Marteau reference because. You know. Artfight...

I guess now would be a good time to share more of her lore, so take these fun and not so fun facts
-Despite both being a bard and having a French accent, Marteau is not particularly flirty or keen on seducing people to get what she wants.
-As I mentioned before, she sees windmills as something akin to guardian angels.
-While she is on the more quiet side compared to the rest of her party, her parents actually considered her to be the loudest and most difficult of all their children (To be fair, both her mother and father were mimes, so their opinion should be taken with a grain of salt).
-Her name was originally Margaux Porcelaine. "Marteau" ("Hammer" in French) was a nickname given to her due to her previously mentioned status as a difficult child who preferred "loud" performances like playing the clarinet, singing and reciting poetry instead of participating in silent mime activities with her siblings. Her father did not mind it, believing that she would eventually grow out of it like he did it. Her mother, however, was less forgiving. When Margaux became an adult and still wanted to pursue a music career, her mother disowned her. To cut herself off from the family for good, Margaux Porcelaine changed her name to Marteau Brise-Vitres (because even though the nickname was meant to be derogatory, she always thought that "The hammer" sounded really cool)
-Yeah, she is literally named after that hammer you're supposed to break windows with. The symbolism is not subtle here, lads...
-The pink and blue parts on her face are NOT makeup. She really does just look like that.
And as a bonus for making it this far...

Concept art of her parents :-]

I know the left one is winning right now, but here's the problem:
I also did this poll on Instagram earlier and asked some friends (who don't really use Instagram or tumblr) for their opinions and well.
The Instagram poll ended with a tie, most of my friends said they preferred the one on the right and this poll has the left option clearly winning. Which doesn't really help.
So what I'm gonna do is try drawing him with the new hairstyle for now and then I'll decide if I like it more or if I prefer the old one.
Sorry if this is disappointing ^^'
Messing around with Trurl's design once again...
(I know the proportions in the two drawings are not exactly the same, but REMEMBER THAT THIS IS ONLY ABOUT HIS HAIR! Just assume that everything else will stay the same as it was before, even if these quick sketches suggest otherwise)
If you can't decide, I have some additional notes on both options under the cut
Pros/cons/overall notes:
LEFT:
Pros:
+It's the FeatherGlum classic. I've drawn him that way since the dawn of time. Everyone knows it!
+Hair looks like springs, fits the vibe because he also has springs in his arms and legs :-]

Cons:
-I always struggled a bit with figuring out how to draw this hairstyle from different angles
RIGHT:
Pros:
+Easier to draw and imagine from different angles (and in general)
+The curls look a bit like Swiss rolls :-D

Cons:
-not as unique as The FeatherGlum Classic, would be an unremarkable court judge/aristocrat hairstyle if it wasn't for the rust on the bottom layers of the hair*
*HOWEVER! It's important to remember that this is only the first draft. If I do settle on this design, I will probably find ways to make it look more unique!
Ambivalent addition:
? This hairstyle makes it a bit more obvious that my Trurl design was inspired by Cogsworth, but I don't mind because I like him a lot :-]

keeping myself sane with. 1975 paper animation and 1913 newspaper comic strips.
#they are so silly!!#also prev tags about them looking like bugs...#agreed. they are kinda like bugs to me#like for some reason I imagine these versions of Trurl and Klapaucius to be very tiny#like all the other versions of them are somewhat human-sized#but I think these two would fit in the palm of my hand#others art#the cyberiad#cyberiada#trurl#klapaucius

Really curious about your planet inspired characters :3 Do you have more info about them that you could share?
I have a little backstory! I haven't spoken about it much, since the majority of my energy for making Original Stuff goes towards Can Of Worms,,, but it is there!
It's a distant future where humans have settlements on every planet, but haven't figured out interstellar travel yet. They are working on it, but that's when the Sun (specifically, an alien light entity tied to the Actual Sun, somehow) shows up and reveals it's been protecting them from the stuff Outside The Solar System since forever. The problem is, if they leave, it won't be able to follow and defend them from all the much weirder, scarier, deadlier stuff in deep space.
Its solution is to pick out one volunteer from each planet's settlement to be "guardians" with thematically-relevant superhuman traits. If they can defend humanity, the Sun will consider that proof that humans can be independent and don't need it following them around.
From there, if I had infinite resources, this would be a villain-of-the-week thing, where I can take weird space stuff (like hypothetical toroidal planets) and make up a cool problem for the characters to deal with, while also dealing with their own personal problems (like alienation and failure)...
...but I usually just use them to make silly drawings.
#Ohhhhh man#This sounds like the type of show/comic I would've become OBSESSED with when I was like 10 and deep in my first space phase#liking it would easily become one of my main personality traits for the next few years#space xx20#others art

I need to read at least one "Dune" book someday. Mostly because I would like to have a shot at making my own designs for the characters, but I guess that's as good of a motivation as any.
#WARNING FOR ANY SERIOUS DUNE FANS:#If I ever actually do it I WILL get VERY SILLY with it#I know I will never beat Moebius#but be warned that my attempts would have a vibe more similar to his concept art or Lynch's Dune#than the new one#Realism be damned. Choosing headcanon voices for characters from your favourite book isn't easy. Especially when the 2 top contenders for one of the protagonists are both dead, so you can't just go "well, the other actor died back in 2009 and this guy is still alive, so he's probably the more reasonable choice".
#featherglum but no art#yeahhhhh this is about trurl#the 2 polish actors whose voices I usually associate with him are indeed dead#admittedly‚ one died more recently than the other (last year)#but that doesn't really make a huge difference‚ you know?#it doesn't matter who died first because neither of them are alive either way

Referencing The Cyberiad with your bestie in the dnd campaign as a joke is all fun and games until the DM says "actually. I'm going to make your trip to Cymberia fully canon and plot relevant ".
#for context:#my friend plays the rogue and her character has a gem in her outfit#and she joked that it was actually the legendary cymberite diamond (which she stole)#and I play a bard who travels a lot like most bards do#so in one conversation with the party's wizard I told her about my horrible trip to Cymberia#where I almost got my clarinet AND identity stolen#and advised her not to visit this kingdom under any circumstances#which completely baffled her because none of these words were in any of the books she's ever read#and she never heard of any wizards named Trurl and Klapaucius#so yeah. now me and the bestie have to figure out how to make The Cyberiad canon in dnd#featherglum but no art#dnd#dnd campaign#cyberiada#the cyberiad#I feel kinda bad for tagging it but whateverrr the tag is a bit barren anyway so I will yell into the void!!#ALSO JUST TO BE CLEAR: THE DM KNEW IT WAS A JOKE! EVERYONE WAS IN ON IT#he was just feeling extra i guess

Drew updated versions of my designs for Klapaucius and Trurl. Also did a silly little presentation about The Cyberiad today. Life is good :3
Previous designs and other ramblings under the cut
Klapaucius has slightly longer hair now. I thought it would be more fitting for him to keep it in a ponytail so it wouldn't get in the way.
Put spats on his shoes because I've been kinda obsessed with them recently
In a shocking turn of events, Trurl looped back around to being more blue-ish
Changed the placement of the rust on his face. I thought it would make more sense for it to connect to the rust from his hair. Like his hair started rusting first, then it began spreading to his face, even affecting one of his eyes (which is why he needs the monocle).

To be honest, switching two characters' names to see if anyone would notice does actually sound like something Lem would do in one of his stories!! Definitely seems more plausible than whatever my dream boy Computeus had going on, lol.
