Hi my friend 👋, May I ask did Philip V of Spain loved his wife Elizabeth Farnase?
How did he treat her and his children with her?
Hi !! Its totally a coincidence that i am replying to this in his birthday xD not at my best but i hope to entertain you . I dont know why are you asking if Felipe V loved someone , specially his second wife Isabel , when he is well known as have been the most loving person ever ( lol ) . I dont know if there is someone as forgiving as him , or as affable as him . He loved both of his wives a lot , Isabel was very important for him . But it is also known he was not as his best after Maria Luisa Gabriela de Saboya . It is also know he has physically violent at the last years of his life in response to the verbally and psychologically violent ways of Isabel . I must clarify , I dont excuse this behaviour nor I justify it by the attitude of Isabel , but if you really want to understand their relationship it has to be clarified that it was toxic from both parts . Felipe was never someone who put boundaries and always let other people take everything from him , I cannot remember one time he denied something to someone if they asked for it ( xD what a guy ) .
About his kids , as I have already said , Luis I was probably his favourite . The others , after Maria Luisa Gabriela de Saboya died , were raised as far away from him as possible . I think this was good , I think he knew he could not raise them correctly , and took care of them in the way he thought was most important , which was by making sure they were deeply religious . Felipe had a very deep religious trauma , and so feared God very deeply . He loved his kids a lot , and it is obvious when we read about how much he cared about them being saved by God . I think that is very cute , even if that was induced by his own issues . Philippo di Parma , one of his youngest sons , was very similar to him , if you are interested in understanding them better . Philippo is one of the kindest of his sons , Carlos III and Fernando VI , as much as I love them , both had their own issues . Carlos III was more inclined to sarcasm and ill comments , anyway , not in anyway mentally disturbed as the others , or at least didn't showed it . The infante don Luis de Borbón y Vallabriga it's probably the most normal one of them , an also my favourite of his kids , I think he had a very funny story and I love the Borbón-Vallabriga line ( which dies with Luis' son , Luis María de Borbón y Vallabriga ) .
Anyway , Farnese was the one that took care of the kids . She loved her kids a lot , genuinely a lot . She was the one that arranged the duchy of Parma for Philippo and arranged many beneficiary marriages for her daughters . I don't think Felipe V lover her any less than Maria Luisa , but Felipe didn't had a boundaries and that let people use him as they desired . I don't think there is any good in the situation they were in , but I wouldn't blame any of them for it , I think both were victims of a situation they were forced in . Ofc not forcing my opinion on you , I dont care if people agree or not while they are respectful about it . Like its not that deep happy 341th birthday felipe !!
#mariana ' s#i hope you enjoy the tale but i think i have talked a lot about them in general !#i would like to talk about farnese as her own person but i think she is more interest outside of her marriage#the farneses are one of these italian dynasties which have been around since the renaissance and all that#they are related to emperor Carlos V thats insane#i i i will send you an ask ....#but it will be very short bc i have a dumb question thats really dumb :/

The Birth of Charles II of Spain
Supposed portrait of Charles II as a newborn. Stirling Maxwell Collection (Pollock House, Glasgow), attributed to Martínez del Mazo.
Carlos José, Charles II of Spain, was born on Sunday, November 6, 1661. The news spread quickly throughout the Royal Palace in Madrid, releasing enormous tension barely contained until then. Joy filled all the rooms, as Queen Mariana's pregnancy had come to a happy conclusion. Given the challenges of the previous days and months, this was a significant relief. Just five days earlier, on November 1, 1661, the Feast of All Saints, the crown prince of the monarchy, the beloved and cherished Philip Próspero, had tragically died. His death was a profound loss for Philip IV and his wife, who was in an advanced stage of pregnancy at the time. With the passing of the young prince, the Catholic Monarchy once again faced a lack of direct male heirs, instilling a sense of pessimism and fatalism throughout the Palace and across the cities and kingdoms of the realm. The death of Don Felipe Próspero, who was only four years old, struck the heart of the aged King like a dagger, leading him to believe, with certainty, that God had abandoned him.
Queen Mariana was deeply distressed. She understood her royal husband's feelings well. From her earliest childhood, she had been educated about the reasons for the state and was aware of what dynastic inheritance meant, so she empathized with her husband's dual pain—both providential and political. Additionally, as a mother who had already lost several children, she felt overwhelmed by the painful fate that the Almighty had in store for her, a fate that undoubtedly shaped her harsh and rigid character. The death of Philip Prospero, who was taken from life too soon, was just the latest tragedy in a long series of losses. Indeed, Mariana had endured a profoundly tragic maternal experience.
For all the above reasons, in the days following the death of Philip Prospero, the Queen's pregnancy, which was nearing its end, became a matter of first importance. The future of the Monarchy depended on this event. On Sunday, November 6, everything seemed to be ready. The doctors and physicians were on alert; the Queen's confessor was near her, and the Chief Steward of her Household was carefully reviewing the arrangement of the items in the birth chamber. To guarantee the success of the event, all the holy relics that were in the Palace and others brought from El Escorial and other places had been arranged in order.
There was the staff of Saint Dominic of Silos that the Order of Saint Dominic had brought, the ribbon of Saint John Ortega, from the Order of the Hieronymites; the incorrupt bodies of Saint Isidore and Saint Diego de Alcalá; the image of the Virgin of Solitude and the one so venerated by the royal family, Our Lady of Atocha. It is difficult to find a space so holy and sacred. Everything, then, was ready, the things of the earth arranged in order to implore God's pleasure.
At noon, after a frugal lunch, Philip IV retired to his chambers. At the same time, the Queen felt discomfort and went to her room. The midwife, Doña Inés de Ayala, and the chief physician of the Royal Chamber, Don Andrés Ordóñez, both witnesses of the birth of Doña Mariana in Vienna in 1634, were now assisting her in her sixth birth, the most anticipated of all. Mariana of Austria was then 27 years old. The chronicles say that there was no setback. It was one o'clock in the afternoon on that Sunday, the day of San Leonardo, when, according to the Gazette, “
a very handsome prince with large features, a large head, black hair, and somewhat swollen flesh saw the light of this world .” It was, of course, a very favorable comment, but soon rumors to the contrary spread through the gossip columns of the Villa and Court. That birth was received with joy. At three in the afternoon, when the news had already spread to all corners of the Monarchy and Europe, a sober and elegantly dressed Philip IV in black velvet, left his chamber and, “
accompanied by the Nuncio, the Grand Masters and the Ambassadors ”, headed towards the Palace Chapel in full courtly etiquette. There, the royal procession, presided over by the monarch, sang a solemn Te Deum, thus beginning the festivities that, in honor of the future Charles II, occupied the entire month of November 1661.

Mariana of Austria and Margarita Theresa Fanart
Be warned as some events I wrote had some artistic license.
On the morning of September 17, 1665, the bells tolled throughout the city. Jose Everardo Nithard immediately went to the Queen's chambers. Upon hearing the bells, Queen Mariana awoke and asked what was happening. The courtiers present kissed her hand. Nithard approached her and informed her that the king had passed away. The Queen began to shed a tear but kept her composure. She began to change her wardrobe from extravagant to a simple, rigid mourning dress, with the only adornment on her finger being her wedding ring. Surgeons and attendants were cleaning and embalming the king’s body while a mass was recited at the head of the royal bed. Margarita Theresa, dressed in mourning attire, approached Mariana, hugged her, and wept excessively. Mariana began to cry as she comforted her daughter.

Hi my friend 👋, How are u? My question is do you know who Fernando VI is? As I remember he is Philip V's son. He had good contributions despite dying tragically. His love story is so sad 😥.
What is a funny moment the royals have done? Any royal will do. 😊
hi , i promised i would be more active yet here i am appearing a month later ... i have been just like fernando vi lately
i do really love fernando vi just like i love all the children felipe v had with both their wives , but fernando vi is a very special case because all the testimonies of his time are very different from eachother. I can totally say he had a mood disorder, as he was described as very kind by some people, and yet he also had very bad temper . i dont believe in the diagnostics spaniard historians give him, i dont know why are they so afraid of understanding their own history from a honest point of view, spaniards will prefer to lie and talk shit about their monarchs before actually setting a debate about why would they need a dynasty in the first place . i dont like people . anyway yes iiii i always think about fernando vi and his wife barbara de braganza . barbara was the younger sister of the prince Jorge ? from Portugal ( i dont know if he was called like that , but we roll - its the one that looks like luis I - which will later marry a daughter of Felipe V , and will later give birth to Maria I de Portugal , whom inherited the bourbon illness - whatever it may be ) . I enjoy Fernando VIs friendship with the infante Don Luis , i enjoy that he was a good older brother to him and I enjoy that Don Luis stayed by his side when he was in his last moments and I enjoy that Don Luis was scared of him but never judged him . don luis was very dumb so i wonder why he was nice to him . maybe don luis was kind of nice . i find him funny . anyway fernando vi and barbara are very cute . i know fernando vi had very good politics which later on Carlos III would continue in the process of enlightnment Its A Shame that Carlos IV was born ( lol ) .
iiiiii i dont feel very funny ..... i feel very much like felipe v laying in the sofa and thinking about dying but eh do you know this moment when mariana de austria came to spain and somebody tried to offer her some shoes and a courtier said that everybody knows the queen doesnt have feet ( as if , they shouldnt think about her legs because it was seen as erotic in that period ) and she started to cry because she thought they would cut her legs off - she didnt knew how to catch a joke in spanish . I cannot do that either i dont catch jokes in spanish <3 . i find that moment funny bc thats me . now that i wrote this it seems a bit too dumb . let me try again . there is this moment when louis xiv was young and he fell in love with whom would be later her first mistress , louise de la valliere , and he asked for his friend which i know he was called philippe to write a letter to her for him because philippe was known for writing very good . louise was so impressed by the letter - thinking it was the king himself who wrote it to her - that she felt she needed to try her best too and she went to philippe too to ask him to write a letter back . they kept asking philippe for letters for eachother until louise finally told louis what she has been doing . thats so wholesome tbh it makes me laugh and cry at the same time ( i love louis xiv what a guy ) . thats so sweet i cannot live with this . anyway louis xiv and louise just laughed at that and were very happy . i love both of them .
#mariana ' s#this yapping isnt yapping as it should be im not very happy but its good to remember that last funny story ... i love them sm

Hi my friend👋, do you know any fun facts about Louis I of Spain? I am curious to know. Thank you 😊
hi so many time since i have been here ! thank you for asking , brightnens my day ( which tbh its kind of an habit - how many times did i started an ask saying i was having the worst day of my life )
i . i did a giant wall of text ( again ) and i realized too late . will keep this text hidden under this
I dont think I am an expert in Anjou-Bourbons , not counting Felipe V as I knew him from studying Louis XIV and his times , but eh I really like the sons of Felipe V and the children of his children and from then I barely know some of these guys . Not all of them neither . but eh yes i know about luis i of spain . i really like his dumb ass . I do also asked myself if there were fun facts about him , because I am dumb , and I like dumb bourbons .
Luis I of Spain , nicknamed " the brief " for his short seven months reign , starting since january of 1724 if I recall correctly , and dying in august , around his birthday . It is in fact the shortest reign in Spain ! And other fun fact , Felipe V has the longest ! around 45 years - also if i recall correctly . I never google my information I read stuff on books and then vomit it to other people . The bourbons have these records in France , Spain and Europe - the longest being Louis XIV and the shortest being Louis XIX , better known as the duke of Angoulême - who was king of the french during the minutes him and Charles X signed the documents of abdication ( lol ) . Louis I was known , at the time of his reign , as " el bien amado " which I can only translate as the same nickname which Louis XV had , le bien-aimé . Which I could also translate as the well-loved but in english it doesnt has any charm . It was also known as " el liberal " , reffering to his politics . All the children from Felipe V did a good job at reigning , they all knew what to do , surprisingly . Luis I seemed to be independant of the people around him to reign , and was even able to control the situation with his wife - which i may not deep dive in her lore , as I guess you actually know the general information about them to want fun facts . But eh funny mentally ill bourbons as always . I love them heavy . He sent letters to his father while he reigned and informed him of everything . Felipe V loved Luis dearly , a ton , and its actually interesting to wonder if he actually loved all the other the same . It is hard to tell , as its hard to love while you hate yourself so much . I do think he had his own way to love them , which may have not been so particular as he loved Luis , but he did cared about them . I will stop here on Felipe V because it breaks my heart to think about him right now . Maybe later .
And so Luis had a good childhood until his mother died , Maria Luisa Gabriella of Savoy , known as " la saboyana " . She was the younger sister of Marie Adélaïde of Savoy , the wife of Louis de Bourgogne , older brother of Felipe V ; and so dauphine de France ; those marriages were part of an alliance between France and Savoy , between Louis XIV and Vittorio Amedeo II of Savoy , which was said to be very similar to Louis I ! And I really think so ... because Louis I was known for being very ugly lol . I love him ! but that was what spaniards thought of him , and I like him being ugly , I dont like handsome princes , what would be so fun about being all pretty and powerful ... ? it gives them an interesting story .
This is Vittorio , in his younger years .

And here , ofc , my son ... i love him i may cry thinking about him - about his family , he loved his parents a lot , but of course , Felipe v started to isolate himself from everybody when Maria Luisa died . I may aswell not talk about these times too , but I am very happy to revive this sadness ( i can yap and yap about felipe v for hours as if it was the most interesting thing in the world - i may have made it too clear unconsciously - i hope i didnt ) . And Luis did too loved his siblings ! even his step-brothers , the little Carlos III , which was still a baby around the time he was still alive . He played with him and the other boys , and took them to play outside with him , to fish and hunt , if I recall correctly . I have read somewhere that he did this to distance them from Isabel , which made sense with Fernando ( future Fernando VI ) , as Isabel was very controlling with them , but , alas , I dont think we can have a guess about this - but he did critize her . He was a good student , as far as the testimonies of the time can tell , and was respectful , described as very kind but sometimes melancholic - ofc you would not be an exception of the inheritance of mental illnesses when you are a bourbon prince . He was not temperamental like Fernando , he was always respectful to Isabel , but cold . He was never described to being mean to someone , and was very religious like his father . His reign consisted of distancing himself from the influences who ruled in the kingdom at the time , which I will summarize as italian policies - and , well , have parties . Which are well interesting to say the least . not wanting to make fun of a boy for being open to that kind of stuff , but its really funny to hear that he as a very religious person would engage in erotic games with both men and women . thats another level of bourbonic hobbies . Nah i think louis xv was worse than him . They would have been friends if Luis lived enough to meet him . People sang at the time about him being as lustful as his father , along with other rumors of the time , which I will not dig on , as they are too private ? which ofc who cares about privacy of people who have been dead around 300 years from now , but eh im not into talking about the sexual life of a 17 years old boy . It was thought at the time that he was impotent , which makes sense , because he was a normal bourbon libertine , and it surprises me that he didnt had any children . ( im slutshaming him a bit ) . I think those are all the fun facts I know about him ... I dont really know more about him !! I believe . I should send you an ask too !! bc so much time and i havent answered this ask ( i have been depressed and busy ) and so i will come back and interact and stuff as usual

thank you ! u also dont need to tag me - i get notified anyway - but yeah that works perfectly . Thank you for recommending me the crown ! Will definitely watch it then . Sounds fun - I thought it was too serious for me ! Have you seen Marie Antoinette 2022 ? I am sure you will love it if you liked the movie ! Its very short and the next season is supposed to be released next year so its a good time to watch it . I really really love it ... !! It has all the characters that the movie missed . THE EPISODE WHERE JOSEPH II COMES TO VERSAILLES . you will love it , its my favourite .
came back . opinions about period dramas ? would want to watch something lately !! but my french taste its too big to watch period dramas who arent french , you may know better than me about non - french stuff ?
Thank you for your Question
I love period dramas especially if they are historically accurate and entertaining. I like how historical dramas references real life events. Example: The Crown, The Gilded age, The Ministry of time, Downton abbey, and Maria Theresia.
The historical dramas that I would not prefer are the ones that bastardize the historical timeline, costume, and characters. Example: The Tudors, Blood, Sex, and Royalty, The White Princess, and the Spanish princess. (The siesta part made me cringe) They made Margaret Beaufort and Elizabeth of york evil. The White Princess. Her affair with Richard 🤢. I hated when historical drama put modern music into a period drama and movie. ( It can work if it is instrumental and it does not take you away from the period to much example: Bridgerton) but If said music is so modern that it takes you away from the historical setting it just feels wrong Example: Gladiator 2 (A movie that did not need a sequel)
I hate it in period dramas if they decide to insert a 21st century feminist character. In a time period where women are barely educated about their rights. Don't get me wrong there are historical women who are ahead of their time and made great contributions example: Harriet Tubman, Risa Parks, Joan of Arc, Anne Frank, Catherine the Great of Russia, Maria Theresa of Austria, Mariana of Austria, and Marie Curie. There are characters I see in historical dramas that carries beliefs such as refusing to marry, A Mary sue, and I do not need any man trope. These tropes often make these characters annoying and unrealistic.
There is a Spanish Movie about Carlos III reign mainly focusing on esqhilache time as prime minister. Isabel was in the movie. she was amazing! My favorite scene is her discussion with esqhilache. Carlos III in the movie is so cute. I love him.

I havent heard about that Esqhilache ! I went inmediately to bookmark it to see it later . I am definitely going to watch it soon . I dont know about period dramas about english monarchs tho , is there one of them that is good or recommended ? I only like Mary & George tbh ... I should watch Mary queen of scots too but I always forget to do it lol . I actually like it when they put modern music on period dramas , I think they did it really well in Marie Antoinette 2006 !! ( I obviously love that movie ! ) But , yes , I havent seen any of the movies or shows you are mentioning , so you should be talking about your own experience that I definitely cannot relate to . I have been thinking about watching The Crown , I am not a big windsor fan but I really like Charles III . Do you think it is good ? - please answer in a reblog ! its hard to answer to comments in the posts , its a bit confusing when there are many of these !! And people usually answer posts by reblogging ( its a bit weird but thats the tumblr way )

Hello, my friend. I am curious to know what good things Philip V has done for Spain.
Are there movies or shows about him?
What historical events do you wish to see if there are shows about him someday? For me, The Spanish War of Succession, his first years as king, and his struggles.
ah, i love talking about period dramas . I have been a bit sad lately so I am not very into tumblr . May answer later to answers to this post or dms. I think I have more stuff to answer in replies ? I should check out my notifications .
III i wrote a lot under the cut . I am not sad anymore hehe thinking about period dramas is one of my big passions
As for good things Philip V has done for Spain — not many, dont think so. I like him for his human side ( which is , to be honest , the most part of him because he wasnt either very interesed in politics , he had bigger conflicts by himself to bother on that stuff ) . I like him as a person but I know people do think of kings who didnt do stuff for their countries as traitors or lazy people . I dont think Philip V as a tyranical king , since he came to Spain he always had doubts and Alberoni and the princess of Urzins had to reassure him to keep being on the throne since he was 17 — which is interesting considering he will later abdicate the throne when his inner turmoil is too much for him .
I personally love french movies . I really like France as a whole so I really liked L'Échange des princesses ( I dont know its name in english , but I know its name in spanish is Cambio de princesas or something like that , I watched it on spanish and french ! Couldnt understand the spanish one tbh ) . It is really good I really really loved it . I love french period dramas I think they are just the best . This is genuinely one of my favourites period dramas . I am not good at summarizing stuff in english but it is about the french and the spanish court around the time Philip V abdicated the throne ( which does happens in the movie ) THE SCENES OF PHILIP ARE SOOOOO EPIC it makes me happy when i remember them . he is so peak . I really liked how they stylized him he did in fact had a big ass wig they didnt exaggerated it . They did a very good job portraying his character but I think he talked too much during the movie and he usually didnt talked that much IRL . He was very shy and anxious when talking to people . But eh it makes sense as he was mainly talking to family . I really liked him nonetheless . Louis XV , Louis I of Spain , some infantes and baby Charles III of Spain appear in the movie . There is also Liselotte !! The duchess of Orléans . I really love her they did such a good job at portraying her too . I LOVE THAT MOVIE I GENUINELY LOVE IT !! This is the only movie I have ever seen about Philip V but I know my spaniard gf likes this spanish series ? which is about people who travel around time as far as I know ? where he appears with a very cheap wig and there is also Isabel de Farnesio which is the star of the show . I dont really know about it but spaniards like it so I guess it must be good . Its called El Ministerio del Tiempo and I only know it because Velázquéz ( the painter ) and Blas de Lezo appear there and I wanted to watch it someday but I dont like this kind of shows . I do know about that one Netflix show La cocinera de Castamar but I dont like it when they use modern hairstyles for period dramas it gives off lazy vibes so I dont watch them . Its a pity cus I love George III but there is a netflix show about him which seems good but I cannot bear the thought of George III being a normal person . May kill myself later .
Shows I would like :3 — I love love love love love loveeee imagining shows and movies I am a cinephile . I have a letterboxd account where I share my elitist taste on movies . I am a boring person who watches very boring movies and love it . I dont know if you are into that kind of period dramas ? the more experimental ones ? like the ones of Albert Serra ( La Mort de Louis XIV , Història de la meva mort , Liberté ) or Ken Russell ( The devils , Lisztomania , Prisoner of Honor ) or Derek Jarman ( Caravaggio , Sebastiane , Edward II , War Requiem ) — I am also super into the ones produced during the USSR , mainly about Ivan IV ; but I am also into normal recent stuff like Mary & George ( I LOVED this one ) and Marie Antoinette ( the 2006 movie and the 2022 series ! I really like anything Canal+ produces ) and well the Napoleon movie . Was it released last year ? Ah I do also liked Jeanne du Barry but people think that one is lame . Not me tho . I loved Jeanne du Barry I am into anything french . After saying all of this yeah I would love a biography movie á la Jeanne du Barry or Marie Antoinette ( 2006 ) or Napoleón . Something that lasts 2 hours and that the public completely hates but I will like it nonetheless . Impossible to make . Impossible to produce . No one would buy this idea . But it lives rent free on my mind . I genuinely love all of Philip V s life iiiiiiiii it makes me so happy to think of him when he was young and then when he was an adult and then when he was just trying to die in peace . Good boy . Would give him a lollipop to cheer him up . AH WHAT WAS I TALKING ABOUT . Ah yes . Ehh I think how he comes to Spain and all the weird things that happen around him — which are a lot , surprisingly , and very weird ? Like I genuinely cannot BELIEVE Alberoni was made prime minister I GENUINELY CANNOT UNDERSTAND HOW DID THAT MAN BECAME PRIME MINISTER I CANNOT UNDERSTAND — And so . Eh I think the war of succession would be very interesting yes . It would be a bit too sad . I dont think there could be any way to make that movie with a happy ending or a lesson . I think its a bad idea to produce . But I would love it but it would be a complete failure like Philip V himself ( I love him ) . Maybe I would add him to a Louis XIV series or in the last part of a movie of him , as Philip V himself is a very niche spot in history . Spain its very niche in itself . I dont really think it would ever be a Philip V movie as spaniards hate him , but I think there would be a very interesting opportunity for Isabel II of Spain or Charles V of Habsburg . I really like Ferdinand II of Spain I think they should make a movie about him and Isabel and Juana and Felipe I . Outside of Spain I want a Frederick the great biopic I DONT KNOW WHY THERE ISNT ONE OF HIM ?? ... like there is but its a nazi movie ( lol ) so its super historically innacurate . life is hard . kisses and my best wishes my friend will !! ask for period dramas to you too as i want to watch something lately
#mariana ' s#i will post this without thinking before posting#will just click post and then teehee :3c

MON AMI !! hi i came back from my exam . Comme belle est elle . I came back from an exam i have permission to speak french ) . Ah I completely forgot the Farneses were related to the Wittelsbachs ! I thought they were from the Palatinade not from Bavaria ( I am completely lost with the german families I cannot remember any of them except for the habsburgs and those are austrians !!! ) I didnt knew all of this yeah that sounds about right as the mother of Felipe V was a princess of Bavaria and stuff . Probably a coincidence . Charles II was so kind it makes me want to cry . Dont talk to me about him or his words because he was literally a baby and I will go and take his body from El Escorial and put it in a tiny box with a coquette bow . III i thought she sold those jewels to be able to afford Charles II s treatment ? That is an interesting story I read it on a book before . The treatment I mean because I couldnt never find information about Maria Anna . I think she was a funny girl but too mean but I will let her be because she was young and fun . Now that I look at her more clearly she does look like Isabel de Farnesio .
Found this portrait of her by her german name , Maria Anna von Pfalz-Neuburg ! It seems to be a widowed portrait , with a tiny Carlos II painting there with a tiny red bow .
Good to know that Isabel and she were friends . Isabel was a funy girl too but she scares me )
-
My gf also likes empress Sisi . I have never heard about her ? I think she was the wife of kaiser Franz-Josef ? Which I only know because I think he was the next austrian emperor after Ferdinand I ( love ya ferdinand i ) . If you confirm to know more about her , may ask about her later cus it seems that she is super popular between historical nerds but im not into mid-modern century stuff i barely survived the bourbon restauration . I should absolutely read about Napoleons wife ! I know she is Francis II s daugther but I never took the time to learn about her .
I came back for more habsburg talk . as usual ) not actually invested in spanish habsburgs but i really like the austrian ones .
Opinions about Maria Anna of Neuburg ? I actually really love her sister Eleonore Magdalene ( mainly known as the wife of Leopold I ) , she was so cool
Are you into Habsburgs apart from the classics™ . My favourite one is Francis II and Joseph II ... but eh i just guessed you were more into very early modern monarchs only ?

His second wife was Maria Anna or Mariana of Neuburg (she has the same name as Mariana of Austria, I wonder how they detour confusion every time someone pronounces their name)
Charles tried his best to respect her but Maria Anna was Selfish, ambitious, cold, and harsh. She cared more about her political ambition than Charles. She was only nice to Charles in public or when she needed something which led Charles to dislike her instantly. Maria Anna bonded with Mariana of Austria at first but that relationship quickly soured. These two have opposite views in terms of politics and personality. Maria Anna was jealous of her sister Eleonore Magdalene, She expressed her jealousy in her letters and complained to her parents how she wanted a bigger dowry, especially after finding out that Marie Louise of Orleans received a higher dowry than her. Her parents responded by telling her that Marie Louise had a bigger dowry when she was alive because her family is more powerful than theirs and if she wanted a bigger dowry, she must have a son. Maria Anna liked Leopold the first and always complimented him in her letters. The country at that time was suffering economically because of the Little Ice Age resulting in failing crops. Maria Anna stole expensive jewelry and money from the Royal treasury which made both Queen Mariana and Charles furious. She demanded a higher pension. Her attitude was unbearable for everyone. She was forced to sell her jewelry for the loans she owed and to maintain her luxury lifestyle. As years passed by Maria Anna failed to be pregnant. She was claimed to be pregnant on different occasions but no she never did. Charles then gave up hope for a child. Maria Anna’s and Queen Mariana's fights got worse, To the point that they personally insulted one another. In one of these fights, Maria Anna jabs personal insults at Queen Mariana, Queen Mariana responds by reminding Maria Anna that she became queen because of her. That fight was so heated that Charles had to interfere to defend his mother from her. In 1696, Charles’s mother Mariana of Austria passed away devastating him. For Maria Anna, She was happy because no one would interfere with her plans or she thought. With the death of Queen Mariana of Austria, Maria Anna now advanced into the political foreground. However, the Spanish court rejected her. After Mariana of Austria's death, she tried to distance Charles from his ministers and insert her influence on him. Charles and Maria Anna often argued about the succession. She wanted Archduke Charles (Leopold I's son) Her policies were not great resulting in riots in Madrid. The rioters entered the palace hoping to see the King and address their situation. She went to the balcony to address the people yet they did not listen. Charles II went to the balcony and the people apologized and asked him for forgiveness. Charles II responded "I apologize to you for not knowing your suffering much former"
Maria Anna and Charles contracted an illness resulting in them having to shave their heads and wearing wigs.

After Charles II died, she was exiled by Louis XIV in Bayonne. Louis XIV exiled her because Louis did not want her to have influence on Felipe V. She negotiated with Archduke Charles during the war of Spanish succession. Her years of exile are filled with loneliness. Maria Anna during those years felt alone. During her exile, she encountered her niece Elizabeth of Farnese. Her friendship with her niece was nice to read. She would give Elizabeth Farnese advice and express her concerns in letters. This friendship resulted in her returning to Spain where she gets to spend the rest of her life. Overall I feel bad for her because she was blamed for not providing Charles an Heir. At the same time, I did not like how she treated people, especially Charles. The only thing I like about Maria Anna is loyal to Charles and never sleeps with anyone else. She took care of him when he was ill.
2. I am into Habsburgs apart from the classics my favorites are Maria Theresa of Austria (Marie Antoinette's Mother), Marie Louise (Napoleon's second wife), and Joseph II (Maria Theresa's son, Empress Elizabeth or Sisi

Hi my friend 👋, Who is your favorite Habsburg King? One for Austria and One for Spain?
Who is your least Favorite king of all time? I wish you the best.
HIIII !! how good is to receive an ask just the moment i was thinking about going to random dms to infodump people about random hyperfixations . specially from you my friend im wishing you the best too .
I really like habsburg story as it is full of girlbosses and malewifes ( a really cool dynasty ) . IIIII i really like the austrian ones , spaniards are always a mystery to me . I lived there for four years and I still dont catch their accent . My favourite habsburg monarch is emperor Franz II im not normal about him . there is an strong need to scream everytime i think about him . People probably must known him more for the napoleonic wars but I think he is very interesting by his own right . But tbh I really like all habsburgs from Austria they are very babygirls . Maximilian I , Charles V , Ferdinand I , Rudolf II , Leopold I , Charles VI , Marie Theresia , Joseph II and Ferdinand I of Austria ( not to confuse him with Ferdinand I of the Holy Roman Empire ) are my favourites but I really like all of them except for Leopold II and Francis I ( i have a love-hate relationship with him bc he is funny but I hate that he wasnt faithful to Marie Theresia bc !! SHE WAS LITERALLY A 10 ?! ) . From Spain I truly only like Felipe I and Carlos II . The other ones are very boring to me but I get that Felipe II was interesting . I am not mentioning Charles I because I already mentioned him as emperor . Well . He should be here because he is a spanish one yeah . so yeah he is also here i really like him i find him too funny and he was very babygirl . I mostly like infantes of Spain like the Cardinal-Infante Fernando de Austria , Don Juan José de Austria , Carlos de Austria ( son of Felipe II - prince of Asturias before Felipe III ) and Carlos de Austria ( brother of Felipe IV , I really like him !! I find him autistic and awkard asf and I really like that in people . Like Franz II ) . Those are my tastes in Habsburgs sadly I will try not to talk about the women too as to not make this too big but I also love their queens . Felipe IV is an enigma to me I find him incomprehensible . Truly a mystery like Spain itself . I liked that moment when Louis XIV and Philippe d'Orléans went to hug him and cry when they met to give Louis XIV his wife that was hilarious .
2.IIII I would say Henry VIII cus he is easy to hate but I do also hate Henry VII because he is the one who made my homecountry a mess ( Wales - if you ever see me talking weird english , is because its not my native language ! I speak welsh hehe ) . I really really hate Charles X of France because he ruined my favourite queer mentally ill dynasty ( bourbons ) and destroyed everything Louis XVIII worked for ( he is my !! favourite historical figure ever ) . I dont really hate many monarchs bc even if they are bad they are amusing to know about . The real hate I have to a historical figure is to Saint-Just but i completely agree with his ideas but he was a real asshole and i dont know how robespierre was friend of that guy . he was literally an edgy teen trying to be a politic is everything i hate about politics but worse because i agree with everything he said . except killing louis xvi that was a mistake . they should have put louis xvi in a box and send it to austria if they didnt wanted him there
#mariana ' s#HIIIII !! i have to send you more personal asks too#but i always fear that my tastes in history are too weird like who the fuck is louis xviii#i I HAVE SOME IDEAS may come back tomorrow to ask bc i need to go to sleep#see ya later#:3#<--- im always looking at your interactions like this but i am very bad at showing emotions on text
