they break apart to a mix of cheers and shouted questions, flashbulbs exploding in her field of vision. despite the chaos surrounding them, kennedy only has eyes for blaine and his soft smile, which she returns with a gleeful little laugh as security sweeps in to push back the hoard of press, putting some space between them on the lawn.

“i’ll go notify cassandra about that press release,” her mom says tactfully, turning to head back inside the ballroom. “congratulations, you two. and thank you again, blaine.”

no matter how much his phone lights up with incoming notification after incoming notification, he’s not going to look. blaine refuses to torture himself by checking for photos of kennedy’s date, though his curiosity is eating him alive.

it’s a nice reprieve from worrying about her, at any rate, even if it is maddening.

He was pointing up at something in the night sky, a star or constellation that caught his attention, she should have been looking up but in that moment she was too distracted by how happy he looked. He had told her before that it was hard for him to contain his happiness when they were together and every single time that had proven to be true. A smile appeared on her face and she leaned down to press a kiss to the top of his head.

So we have post-bakery convo with M and first proper drama with N coming up in the next demo... Can you give some hints what's in store for A and F (and LT)? 👀 Hope you're having a great day! ❤️

A’s...well, I’m seriously hoping people will enjoy their PoV scene in Chapter 5. It’s a bit different for A, but I really love it! Also Chapter 6 and how A reacts to the start of that might surprise some people...

I have to admit I ADORE writing F’s romance at the moment! But maaannnn...if you aren’t in a relationship with them, and you kissed Bobby (and you haven’t revealed that Bobby is your ex if they are—the variations to trigger things in Book Three can get pretty intense, lol), there’s a scene in Chapter 5 that breaks my heart. Like, it’s only a few lines but it hurt me more than any other scene I’ve written so far!

Otherwise I seriously love how they react to some Bobby revelations, or the Doug route! :D

thinking about all the little deliberate ways mason shows his love. of course it’s in the choosing to lean against our chair or kicking one out for us. considering his smoking habit, how we feel about it, how he won’t be an accomplice to our own smoking attempts because he knows the mortal risk. his growing, unwavering belief in us, ready to stand up for us - with us.

but my favorite, the one that gets me, is that he will not let us lie to him if we are upset about the trapper’s bounty. because what greater expression of love is there but to share in what scares us, what haunts our shadows and crawls along our racing hearts? he wants our honesty because it is what he already so freely gives. this is him calling us for our bullshit, this is an extended hand asking us to trust him with this.

because this is love. open and steadfast trust, arm to arm, to face whatever awaits us.

but it’s not her fault; alexei and henri keep pushing cocktails into her hands, and there’s shots with tatum and champagne with dionne and before she even realizes it, the room is spinning around her.

a warm hand clasps her bare shoulder, steadying her where she’s swaying out-of-time with the music. kennedy turns her head and sees blaine, standing comfortingly close. her face splits into an easy smile as she realizes she’s relieved to see him. slowly, he smiles back.

his fingers slip beneath the threadbare strap of her dress and rub soothingly at her skin. “hey. let’s get you some air, yeah?”
