IF THEY HAD JUST...
..not been doing what they were doing? Doing what? Driving, eating ice cream on their couch, turned on their signal light, not stood in front of the store selling solo cigarettes, not been on the playground playing like little boys or not supposedly whistling while in the presence of a white woman and now not do what most athletes or just citizens do and that is exercise and jog?
All of these things are what we hear society say when these black Americans are shot down or killed in some manner, because the assumption that we as black people bring all violence upon ourselves. While white parents prepare their offspring for being whatever they want to be in the world, we as black parents first start with the lesson for our children, HOW TO SURVIVE.
It has taken me a few days to even speak on the Ahmad Arbery murder, because the pain in my soul just was not ready, not ready to talk about another black citizen being gunned down and literally and NO ONE has even been arrested?  As a black mother one of the things I would and still do tell my son who is now a grown man, “don’t be running down the street, because when they see us running “we’re doing something wrong” when they run, “they’re being healthy.”
The list of just a few Emmitt, Eric, Trayvon, Freddy, Tamir, Sandra, Renisha, Botham, Michael, Philando, Alton  and now Ahmad. We all know what they have in common they are all dead!
But what do these names have in common? Dylan, George, Darren, Timothy, Theodore, Jeronimo, Travis and Gregory, yes that’s right ALL ALIVE and all murderers!
So let’s turn the IF THEY HAD JUST around, If the alive mentioned names HAD JUST seen these citizens as human beings, IF THEY HAD JUST not been so quick to shoot them or kill them like dogs. IF THEY HAD JUST not immediately assumed because of the color of their skin they were doing something wrong or needed to be taken down perhaps Emmitt, Eric, Trayvon, Freddy, Tamir, Sandra, Renisha, Botham, Michael, Philando, Alton, Ahmad and all other murdered black lives would be ALIVE also.

When you look....
When you look at your daughters, mothers, sisters, aunts, nieces or any of the women you have in your family what do you see? Do you see someone worthy of being honored or protected or do you see what Congress saw and see them as nothing! By their vote today, NOTHING is what they are saying women mean to them and the United States for which they are voted in to represent. It is not a partisan issue it is a human issue! For anyone to overlook so many of the red flags that are swarming around Kavanaugh’s head is preposterous. Dr. Ford sat in front of millions and poured out a devastating event that happen to her and told the world she was 100 percent sure it was Kavanaugh. A sexual assault victim may not remember the address or even the street but they remember things about their attacker from the smell, sound of their voice, look in their eyes or even if they have a bent finger but Congress disregarded all of it to make their Republican spot on the Supreme Court to their advantage. The highest court in the nation is suppose to be for the people but by putting Kavanaugh on a seat it showed they are out for their good old boy agendas!
The women who voted for Kavanaugh, how they manage to look at their own reflections is a puzzle to me or even their own daughters, mother’s or sisters but then I guess that goes to say they don’t think much of themselves or any other woman either and will just go along to get along with the good old boys! Yes we are hurting today but even though they have their Supreme Court flunky in the seat, he does NOT stop the million voices that will still be heard and it may not be in my life time but as I look at my granddaughters I know there will be a better day ahead if we just keep fighting and not being silent! I hold all the women I know close in my heart, in my voice and in solidarity that we will not be ignored! So as Kavanaugh drinks his congratulatory beer let’s hope no women are nearby that he will feel the need to use his aggression on again!

What we saw yesterday
As millions were riveted in front of their tv, tablets or computers to watch the Ford and Kavanaugh testimonies it was one thing for sure all were interested in hearing from them both. We saw all of those who were allowed in the room coming in and taking their respective seats(or corners) waiting for the first witness Dr. Ford to arrive and arrive she did. With a timid and respectful tone she began down the road of remembering and telling the entire world what happen to her in 1982. She spoke of the fear she felt as she was pushed into a room with two men who she described as Kavanaugh and his friend Mark Judge. As she recounted the aggressive and humiliating attack you could feel her anxiety and her pain and the world especially women felt it with her.
Dr. Ford had moments of tears but continued to show her strength by allowing herself to be questioned and judged in front of the world, never did she lash out or waver from her stance. This is what strength looks like and that is what we saw in Dr. Ford yesterday. What we also saw yesterday was how the Republican men did not have that strength or courage to question her one on one but instead hid behind the skirt of Arizona prosecutor Rachel Mitchell. Why did they feel that they could not have enough humanness to treat this woman as a human being without attacking her? When you don’t even trust yourself what does that say about you? After the four hour long testimony and questioning of Dr. Ford there was a recess and women everywhere even though you were not in that room gave each other a virtual and nationwide hug for her courage to stand up and speak up for those who have lived and held their own secrets of assault and abuse in silence. What you saw yesterday was empowerment of women everywhere! The recess is over and now it is time for Kavanaugh to have his seat at the testimony table. He enters with his wife and then goes to the table and seemingly is worried about where the name plate is positioned and adjusts it and something else on the table. While Dr. Ford spent less than 5 mins with her intro he spent forty(40) mins giving his diatribe of history from childhood to now in a very unnecessarily loud manner. Although many in the room were of the elderly age, they all seem to have their hearing intact so the need for the loud voice was unnecessary. Then the opening questioning started with Dianne Feinstein and he immediately became combative and as she continued to attempt to get him to answer he became enraged and very hostile! So is this a person who we want to make important decisions with this type of temperament? What we saw yesterday was the rage of an entitled white man who feels how dare anyone put him up for questioning and damn you all! The prosecutor that the GOP hired evidently was not doing what they expected her to do or it was just a sham for Dr. Ford but after one question to Kavanaugh she was no longer a factor in doing the questioning and Lindsey Graham following the crazed enragement of Kavanaugh went into a tirade of yelling and pointing fingers at the Democratic side! So was that four hours of not questioning Dr. Ford too much for them to handle and they exploded on the Democrats? Well they are the ones who thought they were outsmarting the process by hiring Mitchell. After Republican after Republican spouting out the rhetoric that Kavanaugh started the hearing with in regards to the conspiracy that they were after him for political reasons and it was an awful attack on him they showed their true colors and what we saw yesterday is that the bullies could not stand feeling bullied as is usually the case with bullies.
The Republicans didn’t have this outcry when it was brought up about Russia interfering with the election, they did not have this outcry. Oh but they had a huge outcry of “lock her up” about the Hillary emails. They did not have the outcry when time after time President Obama was accused of not being born in the USA but rather they fueled it. They want to be outraged because one Democratic senator made a statement of they would block Kavanaugh’s confirmation but where was the outrage when some on their party made the statement regarding President Obama “ we will do everything in our power to make him a one term president.” No outrage or yelling from them did we hear? What we saw yesterday is the good old boys were in a corner and did not know how to handle it and so they started screaming like juveniles. But as is said from Shakespeare “ The lady doth protest too much” well let’s replace that with the “men doth protest too much.”
