hi love, your fics are amazing. i love them so badddd!
can i request juju watkins x oc being mommies?
just like maybe their day to day lives and routines, them being soft for the kiddos and absolutely just being the fun chill parents who provide structure when need be.
you can turn this down if you aren’t too comfortable writing it, all love boo 🌸.
wc: 1k an: thank you so much for your sweet words!! omg this is such a cute prompt! i love this!! i didn't want it to be super long and so i strayed from the prompt (so sorry) but i just wanted to describe a super sleepy and soft morning. i will be returning to this prompt at a later date with a pt. 2 that focuses on them with older kiddos and how their parenting styles develop. i really hope you enjoy!! as always, feedback would be appreciated!! tysm <3 -- tea ★’*•.¸♡
exhaustion didn’t feel like the right word to describe what juju was feeling. exhaustion sounded so negative and none of what juju was feeling was negative.
watching you become a mom and spending these early mornings with you two were some of the highlights of her life. you and baby miles had brought her more joy and love than she ever thought possible.
it was nearing six in the morning when your son began whining slightly. you tried to shift gently out of juju’s arms, but she tightened her grip.
“you stay, baby. i’ve got him” she pressed a kiss to your temple and then went to stand up.
“you have your first practice back today, i’ve got him. you lay down and get some rest” you are standing up but don’t see her making moves to lay back down.
juju beats you to his bassinet and is gently picking him up. she cradles his head carefully and presses him to her chest, which was only covered by a thin sports bra. your son coos at the feeling of his mother’s skin.
you smile at them gently.
“you should really be back in bed, baby” you wrap your arms around her waist and rest your chin on her shoulder looking over at the boy who made you two moms.
“mm, i’ve been up for a while” she hums smiling down at your son.
“should’ve woke me up” you smile into her shoulder.
“nah, you spent the last nine months growing our baby and now you are spending so much time doing so much. you need the rest” she turns her head and kisses your forehead gently.
you decide to step back and let her have a moment with your son. you take some time preparing a bottle and checking the temperature to make sure it is perfect.
by the time you return to your bedroom, you found juju in the rocking chair you guys had put in the corner near his bassinet. juju had your son snuggled gently against her chest and a smile so full of love.
you froze in your tracks feeling so overcome with emotion. seeing the woman you love become a mother has been a feeling you have been struggling to put into words. you just wanted to bottle up every moment and live in this forever.
“here you go, baby” you offer her the bottle and she looks up at you with a dopey love-filled smile.
she mutters a soft thank you and leans forward to kiss you before feeding your son.
“why don’t you take a shower while i feed him” she smiles up at you.
you nod and head to the bathroom. you take your time brushing your teeth and detangling your hair.
once the water was nice and warm, you stepped in and let out a sigh of relief. you have been so worried about your son, that it has been so hard to have these moments to yourself. you wanted to enjoy it despite the guilt telling you that you should be in there with your son.
you were quick in the shower and finished up getting ready in a comfortable pair of sweats and an old oversized practice jersey you had found in juju’s side of the closet. by the time you had finished, you walked into your room to see miles asleep in the bassinet and juju standing over him.
you lean on the door frame with a soft and sleepy smile as juju turns around. she slowly approaches you and wraps her arms around your waist. you wrap your arms around her neck and look up softly at her.
“i know i say it a lot, but i will say it a million more times” juju whispers into the space between the two of you, “i am so in awe of everything you have given to us and our family. i am so in love with you that i cannot even begin to describe my feelings. you really are my everything.”
she leans down and kisses you softly. “i love you.” you kiss her in return, mumbling the words into her mouth.
“what time do you have to leave?” you ask softly, breaking up the moment.
“i need to leave in an hour and a half, but first i am going to make you breakfast” juju leans down and kisses you one more time before letting you go and heading out of your bedroom and into the hallway.
you head to the bassinet and gently pick up your son, careful not to wake him. you hold him closely to your chest and head out towards the living room. you set him up in the bassinet that juju had built for out here.
you made sure that he was going to be visible and then sat at the counter. you kept an eye on him and then occasionally turned to stare at your beautiful wife.
“alright, my love, here you go” juju sets a plate of your favorite breakfast foods in front of you after a bit of her quietly humming while cooking.
she sat her own plate beside yours and poured each of you a morning cup of coffee prepared just how you liked it. you just sigh in contentment.
“miles and i are the luckiest people in the world, you know that right?” you ask and juju smiles at you.
“i’m sure i have you both beat. i am so lucky to have the woman of my dreams beside me and the product of our love in the form of the world’s sweetest boy.”
any words you want to say are caught in your throat. you smile and turn to your breakfast. you eat quietly, occasionally glancing up at your son who slept gently across the room.
as you finish up, juju gathers the dishes and presses a kiss on your forehead. you smile and stand, heading back towards your son. you look at his sleeping form and smile.
you and juju might not get it right all the time, but this life you had built was more than enough.

Almost Something - Chapter One
warning: none an: AHHH here it is - please please please have grace i know this isn't all that good and unedited so also ignore that wc: 3.9k
Paige sat on the bus with her head leaned against the window and music floating around her. Her teammates were joking around buzzing with tired adrenaline after a particularly gratifying win. Across the aisle, Azzi Fudd laughed loudly at something an underclassman had whispered to her. It was the type of full body laugh that caused her to scrunch her face, close her eyes, and lean back.
This tiny moment should’ve been nothing. One of the hundreds of throw away moments that have been collected since they first played together. Instead, Azzi’s laugh found her way into Paige’s mind and settled like the most comforting blanket that wrapped around Paige too tightly. The weight of this insignificant moment caught in Paige’s throat and threatened to spill into the shift that Paige had come to notice.
Azzi and Paige were not just teammates. They were not just friends. Well, on paper they were. But Paige felt the weight of what they were settling its roots deep into her bones. This shift had been happening for a long time between shared hotel beds at away games, the lingering touches during hand shakes, and the way their gazes found each other when things got too loud.
Paige looked a moment longer. In that moment she tried searing the happiness she saw on Azzi into her mind. She wanted this version of Azzi to live forever. The version that laughed loosely and seemed relaxed without worrying about those around her.
She sighed as she felt the bus coming to a stop outside their hotel. The rest of the team was quick to hurry back to their rooms as the adrenaline started to bleed into exhaustion. The team unloaded and just as quickly filed into the elevators back to their rooms they had for one more night.
As the team dispersed to their respective rooms, Paige’s feet slowed down. She stopped at the edge of the door and allowed herself a moment before entering into the thick air that always seemed to be present when she shared a space with Azzi.
Before she could stand outside the door too long, she opened up the door and went through the motions of getting ready for bed. She had felt exhaustion in every muscle in her body and let it be known as she lay on her bed with a groan.
“You okay?” Azzi asks softly from her spot on the bed nearest the window. Paige doesn’t even look at Azzi, but lets her gentle tone and undeniable warmth fill her body from across the room.
“‘M just sleepy” Paige mutters as she finds her way under the covers. It is silent for a moment, but just a moment.
Paige hears Azzi shuffling between the beds and finding her way to Paige’s. It is almost instinctual the way Paige shifts slightly to allow room for Azzi to join her under the covers of the bed. Azzi lays down and presses her body up against Paige’s. Paige wraps her arms around Azzi and pulls her tightly into her chest. Azzi melts into the embrace and tangles their legs while wrapping her arms around Paige’s middle.
“You played really well tonight” Azzi whispers into Paige’s chest and Paige squeezes gently in return.
“One player is only as good as the rest of her team” Paige responds gently leaning her chin onto the top of Azzi’s head.
“We are just so lucky to have you,” Azzi slowly offers, “I am so lucky to have you.” Azzi whispers out the last part but Paige hears it. She hears it and lets it settle into the night around them.
“Goodnight, Azzi” is all Paige whispers while wrapping her arms tighter around Azzi and letting the exhaustion take over.
· · ─ ·✶· ─ · ·
Waking up wrapped in the soft embrace of a woman who you feel so strongly about should be a good thing, right? For Paige it was one of her more difficult moments. Waking up together had happened before. But this time was worse. Paige and Azzi would find themselves in each other’s arms under the shield of night time exhaustion. Usually Azzi would be gone about her day by the time Paige woke up.
Today, though, Paige woke up and found Azzi still asleep with her arms wrapped tightly around Paige’s middle. Her cheek was pressed onto Paige’s chest like it was the only thing that made sense with small huffs of breath meeting Paige’s arm. Their legs had become so tangled that it was difficult to tell where one ended and the other began.
Azzi looked truly and honestly peaceful. She wasn’t carrying herself with the expectations of being perfect that she does during the day. All the parts of her that were poised and put together seemed relaxed and calm.
Paige couldn’t stop herself from softly brushing a curl out of Azzi’s face. Instead of flinching or ignoring the sensation, Azzi buried herself further in Paige’s chest with a sigh.
“Azzi,” Paige said softly once she couldn’t ignore the sounds of her teammates growing outside in the hallway. Azzi huffed and tried hiding her face even more. Paige smiled at the girl tangled up with her and brushed her fingers up and down Azzi’s arm.
“Come on,” she whispers with a smile, not stopping from brushing her hand up and down Azzi’s arm, “they’ve given us a lot of grace, but we probably have five more minutes before KK decides texting is working and tries to break down the door.”
“‘M too comfy. They can drag me out” Azzi puts and Paige laughs gently. Paige gives her just a moment before detangling their bodies.
Azzi stays still in the bed a few moments longer as Paige goes about the motions of getting ready and gathering their things. As soon as Paige has finished in the bathroom Azzi is in, following through while Paige settles on the chair in the corner of the room.
Paige is scrolling through her phone and responding to messages when Azzi steps out. It is unfair how she can make anything seem like runway material. Athletic shorts and an oversized UCONN hoodie might be a new low for ruining Paige.
“You ready?” Paige asks while pocketing her phone. Azzi just hums before walking towards Paige.
She stops when she is standing between Paige’s legs. She leans forward slightly and adjusts the collar on Paige’s quarter zip. Their faces are too close for comfort and Azzi only looks up and smiles at Paige whose face has gone tight without warning.
“And now you are” Azzi smiles before patting at Paige’s shoulders and stepping back.
Paige lets out a deep breath, smiles, and thanks her best friend in return. Paige tries to keep it a normal friendly smile, but she was sure that her eyes were giving her away. They always did.
Azzi, seeming to not notice, grabbed her bookbag and suitcase heading to the door with Paige following. They step into the hall and see a few of their teammates taking their things and heading towards the elevator. Paige’s eyes never trail too far from Azzi. She didn’t even mean to, but she always had her eyes on Azzi.
“I am not sure how she hasn’t felt you burning holes into the back of her head, but you need to chill with the staring” KK whispers from beside her and Paige looks in her direction not even bothering to deny staring.
“It wasn’t that bad, just a few moments” Paige responds and KK clicks her tongue and rolls her eyes at Paige clearly knowing that was not the case.
The elevator doors open and Azzi turns around to grab the room keys that Paige was holding onto. She was in charge of returning them to the training staff. Paige handed them over and then ignored the desire to wait for Azzi. She instead followed the rest of the group to the bus. KK seemed ready to pick up the conversation.
“I am really not trying to be rude, but what is actually going on” KK huffs out as she adds her suitcase to the pile of others that were being put under the bus. Paige follows and then joins her friend as they end up in line to the bus.
“I’m good,” Paige said, but she was blinking too fast and looking anywhere but KK’s eyes. “I’m always good.”
“Girl, I know you are not trying to lie to me right now” KK retorts as they climb onto the bus and claim their typical seats towards the back.
“I’m not lying, we really are fine” Paige groans out wanting this conversation to be done with.
“Okay, you guys might be, but you are clearly not” KK points out and Paige doesn’t have a response to that one, so she lets the comment sit around them.
“Paige, I am really not trying to meddle. It’s not my business. What is my business though is one of my girls struggling. I just want to help” KK whispers the last part and then decides that her piece was out and she should give Paige space. She moves up a few spots and Paige almost thinks she will get the row to herself.
The silence lasts for only a few moments before Azzi is on the bus and notices the open seat next to Paige. She smiles before claiming the spot and nudging Paige with her shoulder.
“Should I be scared that you are capable of scaring off multiple seat mates?” Azzi jokes and Paige just looks at her a moment in return before smiling.
“That depends, should I be scared that you have been booted from your seat” Paige jokes in return and Azzi just laughs before turning to face her body forward and leaning her head on Paige’s shoulder.
Paige’s breath caught lightly and before she could really think about what she was doing, she was leaning her shoulder down to offer more space for Azzi to really settle in and get comfortable. She didn’t move. She couldn’t. She worried that if she did, she would shatter this moment. She lifted her head slightly and made eye contact with KK who just sighed before turning around.
The entirety of the bus ride back to Storrs from Syracuse Paige didn’t move. She didn’t reach into her bag to get out her headphones. She didn’t grab her computer or books to do her homework. She settled into the seat and found some highlight reels on her phone as well as game analysis articles of their most recent game.
At one point she considered taking a nap, but she knew she had a tendency to move in her sleep and was worried about jostling Azzi. So, for the entire five-hour bus ride, Paige settled into place and let Azzi get the rest she so clearly needed.
Azzi began to stir beside her, still curled against Paige's side. Her head remained on Paige’s shoulder, her body warm and heavy like a blanket Paige didn’t want to take off. For five hours, Paige had barely moved. She didn’t want to wake her. She didn’t want to lose this.
Azzi's fingers twitched as she scrolled through her phone. Then, without lifting her head, “So... I think I might have a date this weekend.”
The words were soft. Careless. Excited. And they shattered Paige. Her stomach dropped so fast it stole her breath. She blinked once. Then again.
No.
“Really?” Paige heard herself say, voice tight. She cleared her throat. “That’s awesome.”
Azzi finally looked up at her, eyes bright. “Tyler. He’s in my econ class. I guess we’ve been flirting a little. He’s cute, you wanna to see a picture?”
Paige wanted to say no. She wanted to shake her head, pull away, bury her face in Azzi’s hoodie and pretend this wasn’t happening. But instead she smiled. Or tried to.
“Sure,” she said. Her voice was brittle glass.
Azzi turned her screen. A guy — generic, forgettable. Blonde hair, too confident smile, and eyes that didn’t know Azzi at all. Paige hated him instantly.
“Wow,” Paige said. She didn’t hear her own voice. “I’m so happy for you.”
Azzi beamed. “Thanks, P.”
Paige couldn’t look at her. She wrapped her arms around Azzi in a sudden hug, hiding her face in Azzi’s hair before her expression betrayed her. Azzi laughed, thinking it was just Paige being sentimental.
“I’m so happy for you,” Paige whispered again. But this time her voice cracked.
Azzi didn’t notice.
· · ─ ·✶· ─ · ·
Paige sat on the couch in her dorm, phone in hand, thumb aimlessly scrolling. She wasn’t reading. She wasn’t seeing. Her body was still, but her mind? Her mind was back on the bus. Back to Azzi’s smile, back to the way she said “date” like it was no big deal.
Paige had replayed it too many times already. So... I think I might have a date this weekend. The words echoed in her skull like a taunt. She hated how they hit her. Hated how she couldn’t just be happy.
She closed her eyes and tilted her head back against the couch.
“God,” she muttered.
The image of Tyler in all his boring glory floated into her brain again. She groaned. That guy? That guy was the one Azzi picked to date? Not that it mattered. It wasn’t about Tyler. It was about Azzi smiling up at someone else. Letting someone else in. Sharing the parts of her that used to be just for Paige.
Paige’s chest ached in a way that felt ridiculous, even to her. She was being pathetic. They were friends. That’s it. That’s all it had ever officially been. But no matter how many times she told herself that, her heart didn’t get the message. It still wanted her.
It wanted the girl who fell asleep in her arms, who whispered into her chest like it was the safest place in the world. It wanted the look Azzi gave her across crowded rooms, the quiet comfort, the heat in the silence between them.
Paige clenched her jaw and tossed her phone to the far end of the couch like it had personally betrayed her. She curled into herself, arms wrapped around her knees, and let the silence press in. It was heavy. And familiar.
You’re just her best friend.
That truth hit harder than it should.
“Alright, let’s go out” Amari breaks through her spiral as she sits down by Paige on the couch and pats her leg.
“I’m not feeling it” Paige mumbles and picks at a frayed piece of her sweats.
“Yeah, that really isn’t an option. You have been ignoring everyone and moping, we just want you to get your mind off of whatever has you so worked up” Amari explains growing gentler by the end.
“Did KK put you up to this?” Paige mumbles after a moment of silence. Amari just laughs and shoves her shoulder.
“No, anyone with eyes can see your true feelings and how much this is eating you alive. No one is down with the self-deprication” Amari smirks and Paige just playfully glares.
“You have twenty minutes to get ready before I drag you out in whatever clothes you are in” Amari stands up and heads to the kitchen.
Paige went to her room and got around. She threw on a white cropped tank with a cream colored set of cargo pants and an undone short sleeve button up. She threw her hair up in a slicked back bun and put on some chapstick. With a quick look in the mirror, she was grabbing her phone and heading out to the living room.
Amari was standing there with a smirk along with Caroline and Aubrey. Paige just shakes her head with a smile. The group exits the dorm without pause and an Uber is waiting for your group.
The ride to the bar was mostly filled with off-key singing and laughter. Paige felt her mood lifting and was actually looking forward to the evening. By the time they got to Ted’s, Paige was even singing along to some song she barely knew the name of let alone most of the words.
The girls got out of the Uber and hurried in to order drinks. The unspoken rule was that the last person to the bar rail would order the drinks. Unfortunately, tonight that person was Paige. She handed her card over to the bartender to start a tab for her friends who would most certainly take advantage of the tab.
When she finally had their drinks, she walked over to a small table off to the corner that her teammates tended to settle in. She handed out drinks to the girls who had begun getting Snapchat stories of their off-key singing. Paige smiles out at her friends.
“Alright, real talk, what is going on?” Caroline stared at Paige, “I know it is supposed to be a fun night, but how can I have fun if my people are not taken care of?” Amari and Aubrey also shift their focus to Paige who stares down at her drink moving the straw around quietly.
“I wish I could say there was something, but there really isn’t” Paige shrugs not meeting the eyes of her friends.
“There must be something. You have been moping and walking around with enough angst to rival Lana Del Rey” Caroline points out.
“Look, if you are scared to tell us something is or was going on with Azzi, we won’t judge” Amari offers and that does make Paige look up.
“Nothing has gone on with her. We are friends. I can think or feel whatever I want, but at the end of the day we are friends” Paige states before pausing, “plus, she has a date this weekend.” Paige takes a long drink with a wince. She feels her friends gazing at her sympathetically which is not what she wanted.
“I’m so sorry, Paige” Caroline softens and reaches out to rub her thumb across Paige’s hand.
“Man, that blows. I am so sorry” Aubrey offers in her direction and Amari just has a sympathetic look that makes Paige’s skin crawl.
“Nothing to be sorry about,” Paige lightly pulls her hand back, “we’re friends. Friends are happy when their friends are going on dates and getting some.”
Paige winces at the way her voice cracks at the end and Amari merely snorts.
“Alright, new rules for tonight!” Caroline announces, “We are getting fucked up and not talking about anything related to any of our other teammates” she holds up her drinks and everyone clinks their glasses together.
Paige smiles at her friends. She was immensely grateful for their support and willingness to get her mind off of things she couldn’t quite put into words.
After settling into their table for much longer than she would’ve liked, Amari pulled her friends over to the middle of the floor where college students were starting to fill in. The music has gotten louder since they arrived and they could feel the bass beneath their feet.
Bodies were pressed up against each other and careless thoughts were thrown around by voices both too quiet and too loud to be heard. The environment was nauseating, overstimulating, and exactly what Paige needed. Paige didn’t even mind the constant pressure on her body as people bumped into her and her friends.
At some point, she noticed her friends starting to get fidgety. Thinking it was time for another round, Paige leans in to announce that she is getting drinks and Aubrey quickly reaches out to grab her wrist.
“Paige, we’re good” Amari quickly gets out and Paige shrugs it off with a smile. She turns around and her heart catches in her throat.
Across the room she saw Azzi with her arms around that guy's neck and his on her waist. She was smiling up at him and Paige was ready to be sick. Her heart dropped and she turned back around to her friend group with her face dropped. Her body had turned away quickly like the sight had burned her.
“P,” Caroline reaches out and Paige just forces a smile and shrugs slightly rolling her shoulders.
“No, no. I am good,” Paige smiles, “for real. I’m good. I am just going to go grab our drinks and I’ll be back.”
Paige turns away before anyone else can say anything. As she walks away she swears she hears her heart in her ears and feels her eyes glossing over. She felt like such an awful friend being upset. With a few deep breaths, she walks to the bar and orders another round.
The bar crowd blurred as she moved, one hand on the counter, the other clutching her phone like a lifeline. Someone slid up beside her, a girl with too much perfume and the wrong smile. Paige didn’t even blink.
“P!” Paige freezes recognizing that voice anywhere. She gives herself only a second before turning around to see Azzi with a smile so bright it only burnt what Paige was already feeling.
“Hey, what are you doing here?” Paige says through a forced smile.
“Tyler wanted to go out and celebrate the win we had, so we decided to meet up even before our date” Azzi excitedly explains, pointing over her shoulder and stepping forward, “he is really nice, I think you’ll like him!”
Paige takes a step back which presses the bar railing into her back. She wanted to smile. To mean it. But all she could do was nod and hope her voice didn’t betray her.
Azzi invades Paige’s space and hugs her once before waving and running back to Tyler who had a grin so big on his face you would’ve thought he won the lottery. Paige wanted to punch him. Azzi was so much better than any lottery and she deserved the whole world delivered on a silver platter.
“Here you go” the bartender slides four glasses in her direction and quickly rushes off to other college students.
Unknowingly, Caroline had joined Paige and grabbed two drinks that were sitting out in front of her. Paige didn’t say anything, just nodded in her friends’ direction and turned away heading back through the crowd.
“Hey guys, I closed my tab and I think I am going to head out” Paige mumbles as she sets the drinks down on their table.
“Come on, P. We’re really worried” Caroline offers as she settles back with the group.
“I’m good. Just tired and not really feeling it” Paige gets out and the lump is back in her throat threatening to spill over and into that dangerous territory where her feelings are real and she has to acknowledge them.
Caroline just sighs but Aubrey nods understanding that she needed space. She reminded Paige to give them a call if she needed anything and then reluctantly let Paige leave.
Paige stepped out of the bar and let the cold chill of silence settle deep into her bones. Her dorm was a twenty minute walk from the bar, but she figured there was no better time to sort through her head and breathe without the weight of curious eyes.
She had left her heart on the dance floor with her best friend. Best friend. The title stung as she thought it. The words stabbed further into her chest creating a devastation so deep. Her eyes were heavy with unshed tears as she saw her best friend’s face again in her mind, her smile up at that guy.
The line between friendship had always been a fleeting narrow thing. Now, Paige realized, the line had completely dissolved.
an: alright here is the unedited beast that i cannot look at any more without wanting to be sick ahhh. i wanted to have a better first chapter, but i literally had no time to write or revisit this. it is painfully short, but i promise you will get more in the upcoming chapters!!

Almost Something
· · ─ ·✶· ─ · ·
Summary:
Things as they were seemed easy. It was normal, comfortable, and so good. Until it wasn’t. Paige and Azzi had been toeing the line beyond normal friendship for too long. They had established their comfort and then settled into that too easily. All of this was shaken up when Azzi got a boyfriend. Their friendship stayed as it was. That almost hurt more.

Want You Wanting Me
warning: suggestive themes!!! mdni prompt: you were on the way to the most important game thus far in your college career. you were playing your rival school and had been handling everything fine. things were good… until they weren’t. wc: 5.8k an: I do not know any of the current USC soccer players so I am improvising here - don’t come for me. also this has an abrupt ending and i don’t really love it but i was working so hard and wanted to get this out - i really need more ideas/feedback plsss. This is unedited because i literally cannot so if something doesn’t make sense - ignore tysm
Going to college on a soccer scholarship had always been the dream. You love the sport and have dedicated your life to being one of the best midfielders in the country. You have worked harder than most people twice your age and take pride in it.
Your hard work and dedication led to you getting a full ride scholarship to play at USC, one of the best soccer programs in the country. You knew that you would work hard to stay on top of your studies and soccer to ensure that you were prepared to go professional after college. This meant that you allowed yourself very few distractions.
Despite this, you were still human. You needed an outlet and a way to be human, just you. That came in the form of JuJu Watkins. You were both athletes who were well respected and dedicated to your craft. You both understood that you couldn’t give all of yourselves to relationships but still deserved someone you could just be yourselves with. You guys stayed casual. You would hang out, make out, hook up, and still remain friends outside of it all. No pressure to be perfect, just a way to have fun and not be only athletes.
JuJu had joined you at your dorms after your last Wednesday class. You get out of classes by noon and neither of you have any workouts or practices until after 5. It was clockwork that you would end up back at your dorm looking for a quick break from it all.
As soon as she stepped into your dorm and the door had locked, she had you backed up against the door with her hands lifting the bottom of your shirt to rest her hands on your hips before leaning in to press her mouth to yours. You placed your hands firmly on the sides of her neck pulling her in closer.
You feel yourself sag as she presses even deeper into the kiss. JuJu has this way of completely melting you and taking your mind off of anything but her. When her tongue glides across your lip, you quickly offer up access and she pulls away smirking. She trails open mouth kisses down your jaw as her thumbs press tightly into your sides. It was enough to group you.
“JuJu,” you breathe out and you feel her smiling into the kisses as she reaches your neck, “can we please make it to a couch or bed this time?” you groan out as your eyes close tilting your head back and to the side offering up more of yourself to her. The smirk she wears presses even more into your neck.
“Mmm, but I want you here and now, hardly able to keep yourself up” she begins kissing up your neck back towards your mouth as her hands push up further until she reaches the bottom edge of your bra.
“Jesus,” you groan as you step to the side and pull your shirt over your head away from her grasp. Her eyes follow you as you lead her to the couch. She follows you and is quick to settle down pulling you into her lap.
“Damn, ma” she groans as you push your chest out. She leans in to kiss on the visible skin. She nips as the flesh fills out and then soothes over it with a kiss. You wrap your hand around to the back of her head and pull her closer to where you want her.
She pulls away again and reaches to the sides of your face pulling you down to meet her mouth again. She holds you gently for a moment before reaching down to settle her hands on your things on either side of her. She squeezes and feels you press into her as instinct takes over.
Buzz. Your phone begins going off to the side. She pulls away slightly and you push forward more than fine to ignore it and continue.
Buzzz. She sighs and turns her head to look around for the phone. You let your mouth go down the side of her neck and encourage her to ignore your phone as well.
Buzzzz. She reaches out and grabs your phone before stopping you and handing the phone to you.
“Ma, they are clearly trying to get a hold of you. Just answer, I’ll be here when you’re done” she gently squeezes your thighs and smiles as you look to see multiple texts in the soccer team group chat.
You read through and groan as you remove yourself from JuJu’s lap and settle beside her. Her eyes never leave you and you feel her stare.
“Coach wants to add in an extra film review session ahead of the Stanford game this weekend” you explain and lock your phone before leaning your head back closing your eyes.
“Mmm, and when do you need to go?” JuJu asks and grabs your hand which you didn’t even realize you had been tightening and beginning to spiral. She rubs her thumb of yours in a soothing pattern.
“I have to get ready and head to practice now,” you sigh, lifting your head and looking back at JuJu, who just smiled at you.
“Well, why don’t you go get ready and I’ll drive you to practice, hmm?” JuJu offers and you smile up at her and nod. You lean in and press a quick kiss on her mouth before standing up and heading to your practice attire drawer.
As you hurry around changing into running shorts and your practice shirt, JuJu’s eyes follow you and a smile settles on her face. She enjoyed seeing you in your element. She enjoyed seeing how seriously you concentrated as you braided your hair quickly and threw on an old headband to keep your hair out of your face. As you finished up you grabbed your practice bag and threw on some slides with a sigh.
“You ready?” she asks as you stand by your door all but pouting at the unexpected interruption.
“No, I would much rather be staying here with you” you complain and she just smirks at you as she walks up wrapping her arms around your waist and leaning into your space.
“I agree, but something about seeing you in your uniform really does it for me, so I think I’ll survive” she kisses you in a quick way that is done before you even have the chance to enjoy it. You swat at her shoulder and she is laughing as she opens the door for you.
You two walk side by side out to her car until she goes ahead of you to open the door and take your bag from you. As you settle into the seat, she puts your practice bag in the back and walks around until she gets into the driver’s seat and starts the car. This part has become a very easy thing to accept and enjoy. JuJu loves driving you around and taking care of things that make your life just a little bit easier. You were happy to let her if it meant not having to run across campus just to make it in time.
As soon as she pulled out of the parking lot of student housing and onto the road, her hand found your leg as you leaned onto the center console looking in her direction. You really were lucky to have someone that helped you in the way she did. You couldn’t imagine getting through college without having someone who saw the real you. Not the student or the athlete, but just you. That was JuJu, she gave you a safe place to not be perfect and to try things.
Music filled the car that was otherwise silent and you just smiled at the playlist you know she got directly from your account. You look away and see that she was nearing the gym and that you would have to leave the comfort of the car and JuJu’s presence.
You sigh as she pulls into a parking spot. She unbuckles and hurries around the car to grab your practice bag and open the door for you. Before you can step out of the door, she leans into your space and kisses you so fiercely that you swore she forgot you had to walk into practice and act normal afterwards.
“What was that for?” you breathe out after she pulls away and she smirks and shrugs.
“Thought you might forget what we could be doing” she grins and you push her shoulder slightly and bite back a smile before getting out of her car.
“Thank you for the ride” you offer as you grab your bag and shut the door behind you.
“Not the type I had in mind today,” she shrugs, “but no worries” she grins at you.
“Shut up,” you laugh and head to practice before you convince yourself to call in sick and take JuJu back to your apartment. As you step into the soccer plex you see her waiting for you to make it through the door before driving away. You groan as the door shuts behind you and you head to your locker room.
“Damn, they actually got you off of JuJu and out of your dorm on a Wednesday,” your teammate Alex says as you walk into the room and set your practice bag into your locker.
“Shut up, I hate you” you glare as you sit on the bench beside her and grab your things you need out of your bag as she laughs beside you and nudges your shoulder.
“Come on, at this point you shouldn’t be surprised. Coach knows when your hook ups are scheduled, and has made it her personal goal to interrupt you every single time, you shouldn't even be surprised anymore” Alex jokes and you glare at her deadpan.
“I swear she does. Damn, can’t a girl get some around here” you dramatically sigh out leaning back and Alex laughs before patting your knee and moving ahead towards the film room. You sigh one more time before following her.

JuJu: a world without my weekly head is not one im willing to live in
You: i would’ve much rather been with u
You: TRUST
JuJu: tell ur coach u have other cardio plans ??
You: seems valid
You: what are u doing saturday
JuJu: hmm
JuJu: i have a feeling u bout to tell me what we doing
You: well.. Yes!
You: my teammate daria’s (u rmb her?) sorority is having a lil house party
You: come with?
JuJu: i’ll pick u up
JuJu: what time?
You: she said people can come starting at 9 so maybe 9?
JuJu just liked your message. You set your phone down and sighed. Things have been so good with JuJu recently. You had great physical compatibility. She offered up the best after care. You two got along so well. Things had been going so well. Too well.
How well things were going almost gave you false hope that you could be willing to give up part of yourself to JuJu. You knew she wasn’t sleeping with anyone else, she had told you as much. You trusted her and trusted that she would tell you the moment things changed.
“If you sigh at your phone one more time I am going to grab it and throw it at the damn wall” your roommate and best friend Aliyah said without looking up from her computer, “that girl has you so pussy-whipped.”
“I am not pussy-whipped” you sputter out as you feel your face burn at the accusation.
“You are, and who am I to blame you? If I had JuJu Watkins in my bed on the regular, I think I would be pretty pussy-whipped” Aliyah finally breaks her eye contact from her laptop to stare at you as if she was asking about dinner preferences.
“Shut up” you groan as you rub the palm of your hands over your eyes.
“Okay, let’s be serious for a second. Why are you sighing at your phone like it just asked you to go steady” she closes her laptop and turns to face you fully.
“It is really so stupid. This is casual, I am the queen of casual. I have done casual before JuJu but then she rubs my hand when I spiral and is willing to go out with me on her off weekend” you explain while looking at your phone as if it would have the answer.
“So it isn’t quite casual?” Aliyah asks for your confirmation, you just shake your head in response.
“Okay, well I think you need to let her know where you are at” Aliyah offers and you look at her like she has grown two heads and just told you to tell your situationship to go beyond casual.
“Absolutely not,” you speak out and she just shakes her head with a sigh, “I set the rules and boundaries, but she said it was for the best. She agreed we couldn’t do anything more. I cannot give up even that.”
Aliyah just looked at you with eyes full of pity and that made you rethink everything. You needed to think about literally anything else. You sigh before starting a rant about the film you watched today. She rolled her eyes and opened her computer, but she didn’t say anything.
-
By the time Friday rolled around, you had mostly settled your mind. JuJu had made time to come see you after a late practice. You had kicked Aliyah out and spent the evening so entangled in each other you didn’t even think about your growing desire to do and be more with JuJu.
You stood in front of your dorm mirror reapplying your lip gloss. You leaned back and looked at your jeans and the fray near the knee. It vaguely showed your scar from when you tore your ACL your freshman year. You think back to when JuJu first started coming around and showing up to take care of you then.
You adjust your strappy top and make sure that the straps were tight enough in the back to not come undone and fall down. You looked good and you knew it. From your outfit, to your hair, and makeup you feel good.
“Ready” you say as you turn around grabbing your phone and putting it in your back pocket. JuJu lifts her eyes from where she sat on your couch and scanned her eyes over you.
“Damn, ma. You look good, like real good” she says with a smirk and she stands up and heads in your direction making sure to rest her hands on your hips. She leans in towards your ear and whispers “you sure you don’t want to stay in and take this outfit right off again.”
You feel your breath leave your body. “I promised Daria that I would be there” you whisper but know if she gave you one solid reason to stay, you would.
“Aight, but no promises I don’t drag you out early to get you out of this,” she dips one finger under one of the straps and leans in to kiss you once more before engulfing your hand in hers and guiding you out of the dorm and into her car.
She held the door open and then kept her hand on yours guiding you into the car. She leaned across and buckled you up. Her eyes barely left yours and your breath caught. Damn, she was way too good at whatever the hell this was. The few seconds after she shut the door and before she got to hers were your only few moments to breathe and settle your mind again. You rub your palms against your jeans and then smile as she joins you in the car.
She starts her car and connects her phone to begin playing her playlist. As the first few seconds of the song began filling the space, you instantly recognized the song as the first in your sex playlist. You instantly flush from head to toe and can feel her smirking beside you before reaching her hand to squeeze your thigh.
The rest of the drive to the sorority house left you spending the entirety of each song that played trying to calm down before the next song started playing and the cycle restarted. As she pulled up to the house, you could feel your palms sweating, your heart pounding, and her smirk growing.
She walked around and offered her hand up to help you out of the car. You take it and she helps you out resting her hands on your hips and giving you a once over. You smile and she smiles in return, shutting the door behind you and then leading you in.
As soon as you step in you see bodies all over and hear your name being shouted by a teammate near the kitchen. You follow the sound of your name and see your team around a tray of jello shots. You join them and down two with your teammates like it was nothing.
JuJu stays behind you but joins in on the conversation. Her hand remained firm and settled on your lower back which was exposed through the straps in your shirt. You felt so happy and at peace with how things were going.
At some point Daria came up and grabbed your hand leading you around to a table full of various mixers and drinks. You spend time laughing with her coming up with the most ridiculous drinks you could muster.
“Eughh, this is awful” you groan out with a laugh and she just smirks at you before handing you a seltzer you knew had to be the cheapest.
“Who is that?” Daria asked you with her chin jutting out pointing towards a group of people in the corner.
Your eyes follow and see a few people you had classes with and then see JuJu with her hands on the waist of some girl you had never seen and a smile on her face. You falter and then shrug just as quickly.
“‘M not sure” you offer up taking a drink of the seltzer that felt like you were swallowing batteries going down.
“You know,” Daria starts with a tipsy laugh, “I thought you and JuJu were together, I didn’t realize it wasn’t like that.”
You freeze up and then fake a chuckle in her direction, “nah, we were just hanging out. It wasn’t like that though.”
You look back at the girl. She was taller than you and had a slimmer build. She was really pretty and settled near JuJu like it was the easiest thing in the world. They looked good together and JuJu looked at ease. She looked calm in a way you had never seen.
That idea caused you to pause. You had been so worried about enjoying your freedom and happiness with JuJu, you failed to consider the possibility that you had not been offering her the same. A lump formed in your throat and a weight settled on your chest. JuJu looked up and met your eyes. She smiled softly and waved you over.
You point your thumb over your shoulder to Daria like it was an excuse. She just smiled in return and turned back to the conversation. That stung deeply. You were truly and honestly holding her back and that sat with you like the weight of a million bricks on your chest.
With one quick look over your shoulder to see Daria engrossed in a conversation with some girl you had never seen before, you stepped away and sat out back on the porch. Your sat on the steps and set your drink beside you before resting your elbows on your knees and resting your head on your hands.
After a few moments of silence, you hear the door slide open and shut behind you. You look over your shoulder hoping to see JuJu there, but you didn’t. Instead you see Aliyah approaching you with that look of pity on her face. Your eyes gloss over and you are quickly rubbing your palms over your eyes.
“Hon, what’s wrong” Aliyah asks softly as she settles beside you but leaves enough space for you. You just shake your head instead of responding and she sighs.
“I really think you should tell her,” she offers and you shake your head.
“It’s not worth it. I think I am holding her back” you say softly, voice breaking on the last word. Aliyah sighs and scoots closer wrapping her arm around your shoulder and rubbing up and down your arm.
“You could never hold anyone back,” she says, wrapping her arm tightly around your shoulders, “but you need to do what you think is best for you.” You nod and look up at your friend. She smiles down.
“Can we leave?” you ask and she just nods.
“But you need to tell JuJu,” she reminded you as she stood up and offered a hand, pulling you up. You nod and take a deep breath before heading back inside.
You spot JuJu who had barely moved. Her and the girl had settled onto the coach and they were using their hands to direct their voices to each other. You pause and then take a deep breath before heading over.
She spots you approaching and pauses her conversation to smile in your direction.
“Hey, Liyah and I are going to head out” you raise your voice so she can hear you and you see a frown settle onto her features.
She excuses herself from the girl and follows you out front. She wraps her hand around your arm and you pause before turning you around.
“Hey, everything okay” she asks, reaching a hand up to tuck a piece of your hair behind your ear. You lean into her palm without realizing.
“Yeah, those shots gave me a headache and I am not feeling the best” you offer and she looks between your eyes waiting for you to continue, but you never do. She sighs, dropping her hands to her pockets.
“Do you want me to go back with you?” She extends the offer and lets it sit. You weigh the question as if your answer hadn’t already been decided.
“I think I am just going to go back and go to bed. You should go back in and hangout with your friends” you smile softly and she pauses again looking between your eyes before nodding with a tight lipped smile.
She leans in to kiss you and you shift your head causing her lips to meet the side of your mouth. You smile softly in her direction as she shift to a frown but doesn’t push. She takes a step back but remains where she is. She wanted to see you get to the car and know you were safe before going back in.
You turn around, take a deep breath in and meet Aliyah who was waiting near the Uber she had ordered. Aliyah looked past you and smiled at JuJu before opening the door and allowing you to get in. You didn’t let yourself turn around once.
-
The next day you woke up with a weight on your chest. Not a physical one, but one that is so emotionally draining. You check your phone and see a few missed texts from JuJu. The most recent one saying she was on her way with the soup you love and some medicine.
You don’t have enough time to reconsider your oversized USC hoodie and boxers before a knock sounds from the door. You pass a mirror on your way to the door and only pause a second to swipe over the flyaways from your ponytail. You reach the door and take a deep breath before opening the door.
Beyond the door was JuJu with her eyes trained downwards looking extra soft. In one hand she had a tupperware bowl with a soup her mom once made you and you loved. The other hand had a CVS bag sure to be full with medicines meant to address every possible ailment. JuJu was nothing if not a caretaker.
“Hi,” you speak out and her head lifts, eyes immediately flying all over to check on you. Her eyes eventually settle on you and she smiles.
“Hi,” she breathes out and you step to the side allowing her to pass through the door and settling on the couch shoved between you and Aliyah’s beds. Aliyah had early morning physical therapy every Saturday following an ankle injury. Her absence left you alone with JuJu.
“How are you feeling?” she asks softly and you see genuine concern in her eyes. You smile and sit down beside her to ease her concern.
“I’m feeling a lot better, I should never do shots again though” you mumble with a slight laugh and you can see some of her tension ease.
“My mom was making some soup and I know how much you like it” she offers and extends the bowl out. You smile wrapping your hands around it and feel the warmth.
“Thank you, JuJu” you respond sincerely and open letting the warmth and smell fill the space.
JuJu watches you in silence for a few moments before busying her hands with the CVS bag and bringing out the medicine. She set various bottles on your desk and looked around before allowing her eyes to settle on your figure which appeared to be peaceful and enjoying the food.
“Are we.. good?” She asks as she sits beside you and you pause the spoon for just a moment.
“Yeah, why wouldn’t we be” you mutter looking down and using the spoon to pick lazily through the bowl.
“I don’t know, just last night,” she paused trying to meet your eyes and continued when she realized that wasn't happening, “you left abruptly and seemed off. You were excited and then you weren’t” her voice seemed small and you sigh, setting the food down on the small table in front of you.
“Everything was fine, I just, I guess I was in my head last night” you offer, reaching out for her hands to comfort. It was a habit you had picked up from her.
She nods, “I was going to introduce you to my friend last night” she offers and you freeze without meaning to.
“You were going to introduce me?” you repeat and look back down at the bowl avoiding her eyes.
“Yeah, I think you would really like her” she perks up slightly, “I really want you to like her as well!” At that you sigh.
“I’m sure she was great,” you pause and before you could think better, “what would you have introduced me as?”
JuJu pauses and considers her answer carefully while you look and wait, “I would have introduced you as someone very important to me.” JuJu evades and you sigh looking away again.
“JuJu, I think we should stop” it was out there. The words felt gross and wrong, but they were out there. JuJu pauses and looks at you expectantly.
“Why?” It was one word but she said it so softly you swore it dug the pain deeper into your chest and found its way to where it would hurt most.
“I just think we are at very different points and want different things” you offer and JuJu just shakes her head with a sigh.
“I can’t do this conversation right now” she stood up and that caused you to pause. You expected a longer conversation. You expected to drag this out and let her know what you really want but instead she stood up.
“I am not leaving this alone, but I really need to walk right now. I am sorry” she says and gathers her things. You are so stunned you don’t respond but simply settle further into the couch.
As JuJu gets to the door you see her look back one more time and then sigh before leaving you alone.
You are not sure how long you sit there. It could’ve been minutes or hours and it all felt the same. Eventually Aliyah walked through the door and stopped immediately.
“What happened?” she approached softly and sat beside you.
“I told her we should end this. She didn’t talk it through, she just left” you offer simply not wanting to think anymore. Aliyah sighs and wraps her arm around your shoulder. She lets you just sit.
She eventually notices the cooling bowl and makes sure you eat some more before going through the motions to get ready for the game. You have one of the most important games of your career and you were too worried about a girl who was quick to just walk out. You needed to push this behind you and get your head back in the game. You needed to make it all worth it.
-
The game had started rockily. Your passes were sloppy, you were struggling to get a foot on a ball, and you were so damn frustrated. You had made it about twenty minutes before your coach subbed you out. She approached you with a look of disappointment which was more upsetting than the anger you were hoping for.
“What is going on?” she asks as play resumes. She doesn’t let you respond before beginning, “I am not sure why you are deciding now is not the time to be the best version of yourself, but I need you to figure it out and get out of your head. You are a part of a team, act like it.” She finishes and walks away.
You let her words settle and wipe your face with a towel. Daria sits beside you and pats your knee before returning to cheering for the team. You think about your problems for half a second more before sitting with the idea that you are letting anyone down. You hated that and realized that you couldn’t let your personal issues come above your professional goals and your team.
After the half, you come back with a fierceness that Stanford had not been expecting. You started with solid passes, pressure on the defense, and allowing your team to regain their fluidity. Everyone sensed the shift.
The score had been 1-1 with two minutes remaining. You saw their defense losing steam and leaving messy gaps. You jutted your chin towards a gap and called for a long pass. Your right wing saw the play and sailed it forward leading directly to your foot. You shifted your weight and pulled it left on the outside giving your forward time to work outward.
When the spacing was right, you crossed it in and your forward sails through and gets a foot on it tipping it into the corner past the finger tips of the goalie. The crowd roars and you sprint to your teammate swept up in such an emotional moment. Your arms are wrapped around each other.
“That was all you” you grab her shoulders with excitement shaking lightly.
“I wouldn’t have gotten a foot on it without that pass! That was lethal” she grabs your hand and you smile, shaking it before returning to the midfield with less than a minute left.
Your eyes wander to the crowd as you soak in the reactions and feed off the energy. Briefly among the crowd you catch her eyes. JuJu. She stood with a smile so bright directly behind your team. She leaned over the railings and you could see your jersey poking out above the railing.
The game wraps up with the thrill of a home win against Stanford. You see many faces all blurring together and then it stills around you as you make eye contact with her. She pauses and says your names stepping forward.
“JuJu, why are you here?” you sigh and she takes a step closer, “you left before we could even talk.”
“I know and that was really dumb of me,” Juju whispers and sighs, “I wanted to let you come into the game without having dealt with that. I wanted to be here to support you and knew if we finished the conversation, I wouldn’t have made it here without being a wreck." Suddenly she is in your space and all you can smell, see, hear, and feel is her.
“Being with you is the easiest and hardest thing I have ever done. I am not sure when it shifted, but it isn’t casual, not for me. I know we said that and I am sorry, but I need you to know, I can’t do that. I want to be your biggest fan in the crowds, I want to be there for you. I ran because I knew it was coming to a close and that scared the shit out of me.” She breathes and you see her eyes gloss over.
“Who was that girl last night?” She poured her heart out and this was what you responded with. She paused and her features expressed her confusion, “huh?”
You give her a moment and wait with your arms crossed over.
“At the party?” she asks and then freezes, “that was Ayana. She was a high school teammate I haven’t seen in so long. Her and her boyfriend just got engaged and she was telling me about that” JuJu explains and you flush.
“I completely get how that looked. I was excited and couldn’t help but being all goofy and like that. It was like watching an older sister reach her goals” JuJu smiles and steps closer putting her palm on your cheek.
“I know that wasn’t fair of me to assume and feel that way” you begin after a moment of silence, “and I am sorry. I genuinely wanted to talk about that and you shutting down all but confirmed my worst fears.”
JuJu grins at you and reaches out to wrap her arms around your waist, “you know, I thought that might be the case but you didn’t get all hot and bothered but instead shut down. You had me worried” she whispers the end pressing you closer.
“I’m sorry, that was unfair of me” you whisper, reaching out and placing your hands to wrap around her neck leaning to look up. JuJu shakes her head softly and smiles down.
“It’s not. It was valid, but I am yours. I have been and always will be” she whispers out the end and leans in kissing you on the field. You were in front of your teammates, classmates, and university sports media who were certainly catching this. You didn’t care.
Voting is not done but this one was winning and I wanted to get this out (unedited and all)!! This was my baby that I have been working on for a while
enjoy ~~

Three Strikes, We're Out
prompt: paige and azzi never meant to be a secret. it took subtle changes for the teammates to catch up. wc: 1.6k an: hii!! i know i just posted, but i saw a tiktok and idk i was inspired. please please pleASE send me prompts or ideas i need some ahhh also please ignore any mistakes - i'm too tired to edit ahhh
neither paige nor azzi meant to keep their relationship a secret. honestly. well, partially. it was meant to be private not secret from fans, but then staying quiet about it became too easy. their love was never the loud type anyway. they showed love in small interactions but never seemed to find the words to tell their closest people. it was easy that way. not that they would ever lie if anyone asked, but no one did.
to be fair, their teammates never thought to question them. anyone with eyes could recognize that paige looked at azzi like she hung the moon. and azzi would occasionally shut down and only let paige in to work through it. in the team’s eyes, this was simply the product of years of friendship long before they had even heard of their other teammates.
the shifts came in paige’s final year at uconn. they were small, but the team was observant.
“paige” azzi huffs out as she falls onto a bench after extra sprints, “can you please tie my shoe? i am going to pass out if i have to bend over.” azzi explains leaning back her head and throwing an arm over her eyes.
paige had been a few feet in front of her hunched over and not appearing to be doing much better. this had been the first set of sprints after a summer of strength training and basketball practices. everyone was struggling with conditioning.
kk and ice had snorted, waiting for even paige to laugh in azzi’s face. this seems to be the annual routine on the first day of conditioning. however, the routine snapped when paige nodded her head in azzi’s direction and bent down in front of her to tie her shoe laces.
paige takes her time and gently laces it up and looks up and smiles at azzi, who has finally leaned forward with her elbows on her knees. their faces were only inches apart and it seemed so intimate. as paige finishes she wraps her hand around azzi’s calf without breaking eye contact.
“thank you,” azzi whispers with her eyes never leaving paige’s.
“anything for you, pretty girl,” paige whispers in return with a gentle squeeze to azzi’s calf before standing up to walk towards her water. azzi’s eyes follow paige’s retreating figure with a soft smile.
“i know y’all playin’ right now,” ice offers out while sarah simply looks at the two and shakes her head.
“that was too whipped even for you guys,” jana pipes in.
to their credit, azzi and paige had the decency to look somewhat embarrassed before standing up and returning to the court. everyone else just shook their heads and tried to justify their mental gymnastics being used to explain the behavior. conditioning resumed and everyone quickly became too focused to think of the interaction any longer.
· · ─ ·✶· ─ · ·
the next incident happened on media day. the music had been flowing as the team sat around an oversized makeup room while people fluttered in and out taking care of various people’s make up, hair, and any other micro detail that the camera could pick up on.
someone had a speaker set up blaring 30 for 30. the upperclassmen were sitting around and goofing off waiting for their turns to be called. some had been filming tiktoks and others just sat and relaxed in the few moments of silence. seeing each other all done up like this was always a little weird.
in a small group of players, paige had pulled azzi forward with her hand gently on azzi’s jaw. paige somehow had acquired the lip gloss that the make up team had been using. she took it upon herself to reapply it for azzi.
now, it wasn’t this act itself that made the team pause and really look at the two. it was how their faces were only a few inches apart and they were smiling softly at each other. it was how azzi was humming to the music with her hands set gently on paige’s hips. it was when paige paused her work to smile for azzi.
“only want your love if it’s solid” paige mouths to the lyrics with a smile. azzi just grins in return through the next line of the song before catching up.
“that’s the way i like it” she mouths in return and paige grins before pulling back as the two return to a respectable distance.
they turn back to their team and their smiles quickly turn to look sheepish. various people were sitting around staring at them. some with slack jaws and more theatrics than others. kk looked like she just witnessed the resurrection of jesus.
“uhm, so what was that?” kk hurries out with a point in their direction. she pointed more at paige knowing azzi was more likely to shut her out.
“what do you mean?” paige responds with a shrug pulling her phone out of her pocket.
“girl boo, you know what i am talking about. don’t even play” kk responds and azzi smiles and stands up as her name is called from the media team.
“nope. no idea what you are talking about,” paige then pushes herself up, “i’m going to go do my annual media day tiktok.”
as paige left the rest of the team groaned and then simply sighed and returned to their earlier activities. they knew they weren’t getting any answers and decided that pushing it was not worth it.
· · ─ ·✶· ─ · ·
the final straw came in a moment that was relatively subtle compared to the previous two. it came during a team hangout at the dorms. kk, sarah, and jana had found someone’s uno cards and began the most unseriously intense game. ice and aubrey were arguing over a tiktok. caroline and ayanna were raiding the cabinets for food.
paige had been sitting on the couch scrolling through tiktok. azzi had been in her room finishing up an assignment, but finally approached the chaos with a tired smile. her eyes scanned the room before landing on paige and moving in that direction as if with a gravitational pull.
paige looked up and raised her arm for azzi to settle into her side. azzi leaned into paige’s side with her head resting on paige’s shoulder. her body was pressed up against paige’s and at the proximity of the older girl, she simply melts.
“hey, beautiful” paige smiles down, “did you finish your work?”
“mm, i think so,” azzi mumbles sleepily letting her eyes flutter shut and somehow managing to snuggle closer into paige’s side.
“you’re clingy” paige jokes in a whisper down to azzi who just sighs.
“‘m sleepy and you’re soft” azzi murmurs and paige holds her tighter, leaning her mouth down to azzi’s head.
“just for you” she presses a kiss into azzi’s head and then looks back up realizing the room had gone silent. all eyes were pointed in their direction with everyone seemingly paused in the middle of their actions.
“...yes?” paige offers out after a moment of staring and for a moment you could hear a pin drop.
“you guys do realize you’re in love right” kk blurts out stunned in which paige and azzi both chuckle softly.
“i mean after two years together i would hope so,” azzi says nonchalantly while paige smiles down at her.
“pause” kk stands up and jana is quick to follow, “two years together? you’re lying!” kk is gesturing wildly while the rest of their team stands in shock.
“what do you mean two years together?” ice rushes out and paige looks back at them with a smile.
“i think we are past the half year point, so it actually might be closer to three” paige smirks, “but yeah, we have been dating for that long.”
“and why didn’t we know” ayanna groans out and aubrey starts laughing from somewhere to the side.
“you never asked” paige shrugs and azzi opens her eyes to look around with a smile.
“why would we think to ask? we had trust that our teammates–who are like family, mind you–would tell us something this wild” kk sputters out.
“guess we were thinking a little differently,” azzi adds, sitting up but remaining in paige’s arms. sarah simply shakes her head.
“i wish i could say i didn’t believe this” caroline offers.
“wait, who had that bet going” sarah pipes up and ice looks in her direction.
“damn it!” ice groans out, falling back into the chair.
“what bet?” azzi frowns as everyone starts getting louder.
“yes!!” caroline shouts out and runs over to hug sarah dramatically, “i completely forgot!”
“there was a bet going on when you guys would stop just looking at each other and actually do something about it, and carol was the only one who had faith in you guys getting together before paige graduates” aubrey laughs and paige feels her phone vibrate as she was sure someone was notifying the team chat.
“nah, you guys are crazy for that” paige laughs sitting forward.
“please tell me we won’t have to deal with you guys being all couple-y and gross now” jana groans, falling back dramatically.
azzi shrugs, “i mean we have been together and couple-y for two years without you guys noticing.”
“hey, but now, i can be a little louder and prouder to show off my girl” paige says with a smirk as she wraps her arms around azzi’s waist and presses her face into azzi’s neck.
“nope, absolutely not” ayanna mumbles while everyone else freaks out.
paige lifts her head and smiles at azzi before leaning in to press her lips to her girlfriend’s. the reactions become far louder and dramatic and the two can only smirk as they rest their foreheads against each others’.
“guess, everyone knows now” azzi mumbles, eyes drifting to paige’s lips before settling back on her eyes.
“good” paige whispers and leans in, pressing another kiss. the room around them was loud, but this? this was all them.
feedback would be appreciated!! tysm <3

Don't Play About You
prompt: based on the tiktok trend in which protective partners make sure their comments are acting right while they let their loved ones share something they are proud of wc: 1.1k an: hii!! this is my first ever post here, so please feel free to give feedback (though don't be rude pls). if you have any suggestions, please send them my way! i plan on writing for juju, uconn wbb, some wnba, as well as a few other recs.
“baby” juju huffs out with a laugh turning her phone in your direction as you lay with your head on her chest scrolling through your phone.
it was a rare day off and you two had hardly moved from your spots on the couch. juju had a free weekend from her responsibilities and you didn’t have to work. you two wanted to make the most of your time but also just wanted to spend time with each other.
“hmm” you hum, turning around and lifting your head to look at her phone which had a tiktok pulled up and ready.
“look at this, baby” she pressed play again, “we should do this.”
you watch the screen and see an intimidating woman pop up with her arms crossed and a tough exterior. she threatens the viewers into watching her girlfriend share a niche interest. you smile because it was exactly like your dynamic with juju, which you make sure to point out to her with a smile. she has the tough exterior that no one dares mess with. she especially does not play about you.
“what would i even talk about or show off?” you ask, turning back to look at your girlfriend who was staring expectantly.
“well, first of all, you could talk about a brick wall and you know i don’t play about you” juju claims with a kiss to your forehead, “but also, i know you have been working on those lil pottery dishes, why don’t you show those off?” juju offers and you shrug.
“yeah, but those aren’t really that great and it would be such a goofy thing to show off” you shrug and she looks down and uses two fingers to turn your chin so you are facing her.
“baby, they are quite literally perfect, much like everything else you touch” she leans in, pressing a chaste kiss to your lips and smiling into your mouth, “also, you know i will kick someones ass if they try to tell my girl she is anything less than perfect.”
“okay, but you have to be extra tough, i can’t handle criticism” you pout and she smiles.
“bet” she says and she puts her hands on your hips to lift you up off the couch, sending you to go grab your little ceramic dishes you have spent the past week creating and painting. as you turn and head to your office, you see her eyes following you the whole way with a dopey smile.
as you get to your office you pick up the little trays and stare with a sigh. you looked down at them and thought about the hours you had spent trying to make them the perfect shape. you wanted to paint a cute design that represented you and juju and spent hours determining the glaze colors that would best match the intentions. maybe the comments could offer up some optimistic thoughts or feedback.
when you returned to the living room, you saw that juju had set up her phone on a shelf and was waiting for you. upon seeing you return, she grinned in that dopey way at you and motioned for you to stand to the side while she got the timer ready. you hear the sound of the tiktok counter and see her stand straight with her arms crossed.
“alright guys,” she starts and you smile at her and the tough act, “today my girlfriend wants to tell you about her pottery. you guys are going to stay, listen to her, and leave nice comments. got it?” she gets closer to the camera really trying to sell the tough act before turning to smile at you.
“baby,” and she holds her hand out for you to grab and pulls you in, “tell them about your work.” she softly says with her hands on your hips as you step into frame with a smile.
“alright, these are the little ceramic dishes i made,” you start holding them both up and taking turns showing them to the phone camera, “this one is the one i made for juju so that she can put her keys and stuff on. i made it the usc colors because of course! and this one is the one i made for me, it is light blue and then has my birthflower and then larkspur, which is the july birthflower.”
you see juju over your shoulder with her arms crossed occasionally making approving gestures. you ramble on about how much work you had put into them and let juju continue on behind you. when you are done, you take a step back and look at juju with an excited smile. as she looked down at you, she couldn’t hold up the tough act any longer. she smiled and leaned down to wrap her arms around your waist laying her head into your neck.
“i love them, baby” she kisses your cheek, “and i know they will too,” she offers up with a nod to the camera and you laugh lightly leaning back into your girlfriend. with one more kiss on your jaw, she lets go and stops the recording.
she grabs her phone and watches through. you can’t help but keep your eyes on her. you notice even as she acts tough, her eyes are on you and you could feel the love. you never doubted that juju loved you, but seeing her with that look in her eyes reminded you that she was in love just as deeply as you were.
“what do you think?” she asks looking directly into your eyes for any sign of hesitation. you know that if you say the word she would delete the whole video and take you back to the couch to continue cuddling.
“it’s funny, you love me so bad” you smile in return at her and reach out to wrap your arms around her waist.
“damn, ma,” she laughs, “i’m offended that you are just now noticing” she gasps, putting a hand to her chest in a fake offense.
you lean up and kiss her jaw. you then kiss up higher on her jaw. then her cheek, the corner of her mouth, and finally settle on her lips. you feel your body relax into hers as she wraps her arms around you.
“you do know i love you and don’t play about you, right” she asks smirking down and you can just smile in return.
“i did actually, and though i may not be as tough” you point out, “i do the same and i love you.” you lean up on your tip toes and press a final kiss on her lips.
~

SOFT SPOT: CHAPTER 12
paige x azzi
warning: sexual content(dom/sub P & dom/sub A)
word count: 11.8k
a/n: life got real hectic and this took wayyy longer than expected so i apologize for that. to makeup for how long it took me to post this i took my anons of punishment and wrote the end of this chapter for them. like always let me know what you think and if you notice any typos!
—————————————————————————
It had happened so casually it almost didn’t feel real.
Azzi was stretched out on Paige’s couch with her head in Paige’s lap and her phone resting on her stomach, scrolling through her information for Unrivaled when she mumbled, “You should just come with me.”
There was no drawn out invitation or any nervousness about asking, Azzi just asked casually while Paige was half distracted.
Paige had barely glanced up from her phone as she absentmindedly ran her fingers through Azzi's braids, and had just said, “Okay.” Like it didn’t feel like something important shifting in her chest at the implications of them spending a few months living together.
…
About a week later the Miami light was peaking through the blinds of their room painting streaks of gold across the room. Azzi twisted under the sheets, confusion immediately taking over when she reached out sleepily using one arm and her leg to sweep across the bed to find a cool space where a furnace should’ve been.
Azzi frowned and felt around again. Her hand dragged across the rumpled sheets, but there was definitely nothing but linen and air so she stopped moving to listen around the apartment.
That’s when she heard Paige’s breath, it was quiet but a little heavy as she counted, the faint creak of the floor every time she went up a number.
Azzi didn’t open her eyes before she whispered, loud enough to carry across the bedroom, “Why am I waking up by myself, baby?”
The sound of Paige’s quiet counting paused, then she laughed quietly. A few seconds later, Paige crawled back in the bed, her body still warm and the muscles in her arms flexing as she moved. She leaned down and pressed a kiss to Azzi’s shoulder as she mumbled, “M’sorry, baby,” before wrapping an arm around Azzi and pulling her closer to her.
Azzi let herself melt into Paige’s arms, burying her face in her neck. “Why you up so early?”
Paige shrugged her fingers trailing up and down Azzi’s spine. “I don’t know. I’ve had too much energy lately.” She paused, before adding. “Been thinking maybe I should start training again. Just to get it out.”
Azzi cracked one of her eyes open, then closed it again as she nuzzled in closer. “Or you could just let me wear you out later.”
Paige smirked, pressing her lips to Azzi’s head. “Mmm, that works too.”
Azzi’s voice was muffled against Paige’s neck when she replied, “Gimme a few minutes then we can talk about it.”
Paige laughed using her fingers to play with one of the loose braids that slipped from under Azzi’s bonnet, twirling it gently between her fingers. “Talk about you wearing me out?”
Azzi pinched her side, making Paige playfully flinch as she laughed. “Talk about you starting to train again.”
Paige hummed. “You gotta be more specific, baby. One of those topics sounds way more fun.”
Azzi sighed and shook her head, but the smile on her lips gave her away. She chose not to respond as she pressed herself tighter into Paige’s body, tangling their legs underneath the sheets and giving herself five more minutes of her favorite part of the day.
About thirty minutes later, Azzi was on her stomach between Paige’s legs with her chin resting on one hand and her phone propped up on Paige’s stomach. Paige was leaning against the headboard with pillows behind her back as she quietly scrolled through gym options.
Azzi’s search strategy was much less refined than Paige’s; she’d just typed “best gym near me" and was scrolling for ones with nice ratings with zero concern for specific filters or distance.
Paige glanced down and saw Azzi taking a digital tour of a gym and laughed a little.
Azzi hummed as she kept moving through the gym. “What we laughing at?”
“Nothing you’re just cute,” Paige mumbled with a grin as she reached down to gently tug on one of Azzi’s braids.
After a few more minutes Azzi says, “Ooo what about American Top Team? This says they’re one of the best gyms in the world.”
Paige blinked as she processed the words before lowering her phone as she looked at Azzi. “Excuse me?”
Azzi turned her head up to meet her gaze. “It says it right here.” She held her phone up to show Paige. “Top tier facility, top tier fighters—” she paused when she saw Paige’s face. “What?”
Paige raised her eyebrow, barely fighting a smile at how cute Azzi looked. “I’m Cali-based, baby.”
“Okayyy…and?”
Paige let out a soft laugh, reaching down to smooth the crease forming between Azzi’s eyebrows with her thumb. “There’s like…camps in MMA. Like teams, kind of. Certain fighters represent the camps they’re based out of.”
Azzi’s eyebrows arched in interest after hearing about this for the first time. “What’s yours?”
Paige leaned back against the headboard. “I mean you know I train privately with my coach at home gym. That’s just always been what works for me, but my camp is technically American Kickboxing Academy, that’s where I met him. It’s in San Jose so I only go a few times a year.”
Azzi turned her head again to squint up at Paige with her cheek pressed against her stomach. “Why am I just now hearing about this?”
Paige laughed under her breath. “Cause I don’t take the whole camp thing that serious but some fighters do so I can’t really go to American Top Team.”
“So is there like a contract or something that goes along with it?”
Paige nodded, brushing her fingers through Azzi’s braids, letting one of the goddess curls to wrap around her knuckle. “Yeah, but even if I didn’t officially have one, I still wouldn’t go to ATT.”
“Why not?”
Paige shrugged casually. “I’ve probably beat like four? Maybe five of their top fighters. Wouldn’t exactly be a warm welcome if I walked in there.”
Azzi let out a soft laugh, burying her face into Paige’s stomach. “Damn I didn’t know it was like that.”
“It’s basically like you trying to go work out at the Valkyries’ practice facility. Might not make it out without somebody trying to throw a ball at your head.”
Azzi laughed even though it was slightly muffled against Paige’s stomach. “Alright, so not American Top Team.”
Paige reached down to brush her fingers across Azzi’s cheek. “Absolutely not.”
They both went back to silently scrolling for a few minutes as the faint sounds of Miami waking up outside the window took over the space. Azzi repositioned herself, tucking her chin more comfortably into the space just above Paige’s waistband before she peeked up at her, “So does this mean if somebody challenges you, you’ll take the fight?”
Paige exhaled, laying her phone flat on her chest so she could look at Azzi. “I don’t know yet, honestly.” She paused, before adding “I know I miss fighting. Not necessarily competing but like…just hitting a bag. Being in the gym. Feeling like me. So I’m just tryna start there.”
Azzi nodded, keeping her eyes on Paige. “Mmm. Okay.”
Paige studied her. “Why? You got thoughts?”
Azzi smiled at her gently. “No. I just like to know what’s going on in your head.” She tilted herself up to kiss Paige’s ribs before laying back down.
Paige’s jaw flexed, as her eyes softened at the affection. “You’re too good for me.”
Azzi didn’t entertain the comment saying, “No, I’m not,” before she tucked her face against Paige’s hip. “I’m exactly right for you.”
Paige chose to reach down and let her hand rest in Azzi’s hair instead of responding. Softly stroking the back of her head, as her fingers moved through the braids without thinking.
Azzi went back to scrolling through potential gym options, her eyes flicking across the screen with one hand propped underneath her chin. Paige wasn’t reading a single word on her own phone anymore because she was still watching Azzi.
She wasn’t watching her in the way people watched something they thought was beautiful. It was in the way you look at something you never thought you’d achieve or thought you deserved. The way someone looks at the sky just before the sun breaks open the horizon, like they’re stunned it’s real even though it happens everyday of their life. Paige’s blue eyes had gone softly quiet, like a still crystal lake early in the morning before the world was awake. Every so often her gaze would drift from the curve of Azzi’s shoulder to the way her lips pursed when she read something, to the goddess curl falling loose near her temple, and back again.
There was a kind of admiration in Paige’s expression that didn’t need words. She didn’t even realize she was doing it. She was just...looking at Azzi. Like she was her calm. Her beginning and her end. Like every version of love Paige had ever gotten to know had led her to this moment, with this girl laying on her stomach, in a basketball complex in Miami.
Almost sensing Paige looking at her, Azzi's thumb stopped moving across her screen and she slowly tilted her head and looked up causing their eyes to meet.
Paige didn’t blink and Azzi held the gaze for a few seconds. Her lashes fluttered slightly as a soft and and wondering expression filtered across her face as she whispered, “What?”
Paige brushed the goddess' curl from Azzi’s face, letting her fingers linger for a second longer than they needed to near her temple. “I just—” she started, then paused, blinking as her eyes glossed over suddenly.
Azzi’s eyebrows knit together reflecting her concern almost immediately, the change in Paige’s tone tugging at her chest. She reached up to cup Paige’s jaw. “What’s wrong, beautiful?”
Paige swallowed, her throat working around something waiting to come out before she whispered, “Can I tell you something?”
Azzi nodded. “Of course.”
Paige pulled at Azzi’s hands silently telling her to come here. Azzi moved up easily, shifting to straddle Paige’s waist with her knees framing her sides on the bed. She laced their fingers together, stroking her thumbs over Paige’s knuckles as her eyes searched her face for a hint of what was going on.
Paige’s breath hitched like she was bracing herself. She looked up at Azzi like the moment might break if she even took too harsh of a breath. “I just—” she paused again. “I’ve never done this whole thing before.”
Her voice trembled but it didn’t crack, as her thumb traced circles into Azzi’s palm. “So I don’t know if I’m supposed to do a whole grand gesture or just…tell you. I don’t know if I’m supposed to just let it slip out when I”m walking out the door and not make it a big thing or just—I don’t know how to make it perfect for you.”
She blinked up at Azzi, something naked in her expression before she just decided to let it out. “But I’m so in love with you, baby.”
The words landed between them as Paige finally let out the truth she’d been carrying for a while. Her voice wasn’t loud, but it was confident, making sure Azzi knew she was hesitant about it. “I’m so in love with you it makes my chest tight sometimes. And I didn’t wanna wait to say it just because I didn’t have the ‘perfect’ moment anymore.”
Paige let out a breathy laugh at herself, her eyes still glassy as she added, “At first I was scared as hell to tell you because my feelings just felt too big, too soon. Like I didn’t even know how to hold them, let alone say them out loud. I just didn’t wanna scare you away.”
Azzi let out a quiet laugh, her smile huge, showing her deep dimple as she leaned in a little closer letting her forehead almost touch Paige’s. “You didn’t wanna scare me away?” she teased. “The girl who was practically harassing you before you finally gave me a date?”
Paige laughed at this, her cheeks flushing pink. “That’s fair,” she admitted with a crooked grin. “You were pretty persistent.”
Azzi tilted her head, brushing her nose against Paige’s. “I’m in love with you too, baby. I have been for a while now.”
It was like Paige let out a long exhale of relief from hearing these words back.
Azzi smiled, making sure to keep her gaze steady. “I didn’t say anything before because I didn’t want to rush you. I didn’t know what you needed, but I knew I wanted you to feel safe getting there with me before I said anything.”
She leaned in and pressed a kiss to Paige’s cheek, then her jaw, then finally her lips. “I’ve loved you quietly while you figured it out,” Azzi whispered, causing her lips to brush against Paige’s as she spoke. “But I promise I’ve loved you all the same.”
Paige mumbled against Azzi’s lips, “I swear I don’t deserve somebody like you.”
Azzi didn’t hesitate to whisper back just as softly, “I promise you deserve the world.” She kissed her again gently and both of them smiled into it knowing they were finally letting themselves exist in the truth they’d been holding for too long.
“I mean it,” Paige said between pecs, brushing her nose against Azzi’s. “You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”
Azzi grinned, kissing her again. “Keep acting like it then and we’re good.”
Paige laughed quietly, nipping at her bottom lip. “Yes, ma’am.”
Azzi giggled, sliding her hands slowly up Paige’s arms, pausing to admire the toned muscles under her palms. “You’re so sexy.”
Paige smirked, settling her hands on Azzi’s hips. “Yeah?” she said, her cockiness evident in her tone.
Azzi nodded, about to lean down and say more when her alarm sounded through the room. She groaned, dramatically flopping forward onto Paige’s chest for a second before dragging herself toward her phone.
Paige just laughed and smacked Azzi’s ass as she moved to turn off the alarm. “Have a good practice.”
Azzi glared at her over her shoulder, her lips twitching with the effort it took to not smile.
Paige grinned, tucking her arms behind her head. “You love me. You can’t be glaring at me now, that’s not how it works.”
Azzi rolled her eyes as she got up, muttering something under her breath. She leaned back over the bed, braced her hands on both sides of Paige’s shoulders, and whispered, “You have a big head and you’re annoying,” before kissing her forehead aggressively on purpose before walking toward the bathroom.
Paige watched her go with a huge grin.
…
While Azzi was at practice, Paige had an online session with her psychiatrist.
She was making sure it became a steady part of her routine, a choice she’d made after a long conversation with Azzi one night in bed when they peeled back layers Paige hadn’t even realized she’d built. They decided against medication or any type of immersive therapy, choosing to just focus on consistent psychotherapy. It was a form of healing that gave Paige room to show up just as she was and give her an open space to feel.
Paige didn’t go into much detail about her relationship during sessions. That part of her life, the softness, intimacy, and love, was sacred to Paige and she only wanted Azzi to see those parts of her.
Today’s session was mostly about the recent pull she’d been feeling toward starting to train again. She brought it up casually and her psychiatrist reminded her to stay aware of her intentions. Telling her to not fall back into using the pain and routine as a distraction from what she was feeling. Paige had nodded along, sharing her thought process about it all before they both ultimately decided she was in a good enough place to at least get back in the gym.
By the time the session ended Paige felt lighter. She wasn’t fully healed but she was more aware of herself and that counted for a lot.
When she closed her laptop and leaned into the couch cushions she let herself sit there in reflection for a few minutes before picking up her phone and seeing a text from Azzi.
Azzi [3:58PM]:
Come meet me at the gym when you’re done
Paige smiled and got up to grab her keys.
…
Azzi was standing on the court, laughing as she caught up with Aaliyah, Nika, and Leah. Even after not seeing each other for some time they were back in their usual rhythm within a few minutes. Messing with one another and reminiscing a little bit about UConn. Currently they were teasing Azzi about her new ‘grown woman energy.’
“Okay but your skin looks so good,” Aaliyah said, narrowing her eyes like she was suspicious. “Is LA making you glow or is it something else?”
“Something else or someone else?” Nika asked.
Azzi opened her mouth to answer, but before she could, Leah almost broke her neck as she leaned around Aaliyah. “Hold on, who is thattt?” she asked, dragging the last word out flirtatiously.
All three of her friends turned their heads at once.
Across the gym, Paige was standing next to Rickea. Her blonde hair was a little messy from the Miami humidity and was in its natural waves in a ponytail. She had on her glasses instead of her usual contacts and she was looking at something on Rickea’s phone with her.
Azzi’s forehead creased as soon as her eyes landed on the two of them. “Rickea?” she asked, because surely she wasn’t talking about Paige.
Leah shook her head quickly, waving it off. “No girl, of course I know Rickea. I’m talking about blondie next to her.”
“That’s Paige…my girlfriend.”
“Girlfriend??” Nika and Aaliyah whipped their heads toward her at the exact same time.
“Yes. Girlfriend,” Azzi confirmed as her eyes briefly drifted to Leah a little pointedly. It wasn’t enough to start anything, but enough to say “I know you heard me.’ But Leah hadn’t taken her eyes off Paige.
Azzi took a quiet deep breath and stopped herself from saying anything else for the sake of friendship.
She and Leah had never been particularly close. Leah had transferred to UConn during Azzi’s last two years, and while they got along just fine in practice and in the locker room, there was always a quiet distance between them. It wasn’t anything hostile, just two people who didn’t click. They respected each other’s game, knew how to play side by side, but off the court, it was completely different. Azzi chalked it up to different personalities and left it at that.
So watching Leah eye Paige like that, even after Azzi had said girlfriend? It pissed Azzi off almost immediately. Azzi tilted her head and called out, “Paige.”
Paige looked up from Rickea’s phone already fighting a smile. Like just hearing Azzi say her name was enough to brighten her whole face.
Azzi tilted her head telling Paige to come where she was.
Paige handed Rickea her phone back and started walking across the gym.
When she got in front of Azzi Paige licked her lips, dragging her eyes up Azzi like she always did, like she was memorizing her again. “Hey pretty,” she murmured.
As soon as Paige was close enough, Azzi melted into her while her fingers found the waistband of Paige’s sweats tugging them up to cover the boxer band peeking out, because she felt the way a certain set of eye’s had shifted. The motion was subtle but possessive in a soft way. The corner of Paige’s mouth twitched like she knew that was Azzi’s way of silently claiming her space and she liked it.
“These are some of the people I wanted to introduce you to.” She turned toward the group with her hand still brushing against Paige’s waist. “Nika, Aaliyah, and Leah. Some of my old UConn teammates.”
Paige gave a polite nod with one hand tucked in her pocket and the other draped around Azzi.
“Leah Jackson,” Leah said, a little too eagerly as she extended her hand.
Paige glanced down at it but didn’t offer her own. She kept her hands where they were, before turning back to Azzi instead. “Wassup.”
Azzi had to bite down on her bottom lip to stop herself from smiling. Something about the way Paige moved with complete disinterest for other people was so attractive.
“I just wanted to introduce you,” Azzi said, smoothing over the moment. “We were thinking about getting some food later, just to catch up. I’d probably invite Cam and everybody for you.”
“For me?” Paige asked with a crooked smile as she lifted one of her eyebrows.
Azzi rolled her eyes. “Fine for the vibe, whatever.”
Paige hummed in response, clearly enjoying herself as she grinned at Azzi.
Leah decided to cut back in for a moment. “So, Paige how did y’all meet?”
Everyone could tell the question wasn’t out of normal curiosity. Nika, Aaliyah, and Azzi exchanged a look they’d shared more times than they could count. Leah wasn’t ever known for her discretion, or boundaries.
Paige glanced at Azzi in slight confusion before she answered dryly. “My sister.”
Leah smiled at her. “That’s nice. Who’s your sister?”
“Cam.”
Leah squinted, her voice tilting with recognition at the name. “Cameron Brink?”
Paige gave a tight nod before she turned to Azzi. “Imma go back over there, aight?”
Azzi didn’t need a full explanation, the slight tightness in Paige’s jaw said enough. So she hummed a soft, “Mhmm,” her eyes drifting down to Paige’s lips just before Paige leaned in to give her a quick kiss. Then she was walking back toward where Rickea and now Rae were laughing about something.
There was a brief silence among the group before Aaliyah cleared her throat. “Sooo…that’s your girlfriend?”
Azzi laughed. “Yeah that’s Paige for you.”
Leah mumbled, barely loud enough for the group to hear, “I figured she’d be nicer to your friends.”
Azzi's jaw tensed before she brought her Gatorade to her lips, sipping it slowly to stop herself from saying something rude. “She’s just not that talkative,” Azzi eventually said when she was done drinking, her tone slightly clipped.
Leah’s gaze drifted back over to Paige who was sitting in one of the sideline chairs with her legs stretched out in front of her with one arm tucked behind her head. Her eyes were closed, but her mouth twitched every so often indicating she was listening to whatever Rickea and Rae were talking about next to her.
Leah nodded slowly, still watching her as she said, “Got you.”
Azzi opted to not look at her again. Keeping her focus on her gatorade; on the label and the condensation slipping down the side until the tension started to bleed out of her shoulders.
Nika jumped in to shift the energy. “So where are we going to eat?”
Aaliyah clapped her hands together once. “Thank you! I’ve been starving since this morning. I'm not bouta lie.”
“I’m craving pasta,” Nika said. “Or tacos. Ooo taco pasta.”
Azzi laughed. I don’t think that’s not a thing.”
“It definitely is and if it isn’t it should be,” Nika argued back.
Aaliyah pulled out her phone. “Alright, let’s find somewhere we can all agree on.”
“Y’all are so picky,” Azzi mumbled, glad to feel the tension in her shoulders finally ease. She let herself glance toward Paige, who had cracked one eye open as soon as Azzi looked over, like she could sense her about to look.
Azzi quickly looked away like a school girl with a crush as she smiled to herself, then turned back to the group. “Just let me know what y’all decide and I’ll let everybody else know.”
They all nodded as Azzi went to grab her stuff wanting to have a few hours of peace with Paige before going to meet up with them.
…
Later that night the sun had started to drop below the Miami skyline when Paige and Azzi stepped out of an Uber a few doors down from the restaurant Nika picked.
Paige climbed out first, turning to offer her hand to Azzi, even though she knew damn well she didn’t need help. Azzi accepted it anyway, letting Paige guide her out of the backseat with the same smile she always gave her when she was unnecessarily gentle.
As soon as Azzi’s feet hit the pavement, Paige put her hands on her waist and moved her a few inches over so she was on the inside of the sidewalk.
Azzi raised an eyebrow. “Really?”
Paige just shrugged. “You already know how I am.” As she said that her gaze dipped, lingering a few seconds too long on the hem of Azzi’s short skirt before she said, “You been wearing a lotta short skirts lately.”
Azzi tilted her head towards Paige. “Is that a problem?”
“No, m’not saying that. Just an observation I’m making.”
Azzi smiled as Paige held the restaurant door open for her. “Well, keep observing. I like your attention.”
Paige just chuckled and shook her head before walking in behind Azzi.
Azzi spotted the table toward the back and there was only one seat left open, directly facing the entrance. Rae noticed them walking in and tapped Cam so she could slide out of her chair in the middle, before circling around the table to settle into a new spot. Paige caught the gesture and gave her a small nod of acknowledgment as she and Azzi made their way over.
When they sat down, the first thing Azzi noticed—before the music, the clatter of dishes, or even who was already talking—was Leah’s outfit. Or rather, the lack of it. The girl had on an extremely cropped halter top that barely covered her chest and a skirt that wasn’t very visible while she was sitting down. Azzi blinked once, maybe twice, before deciding not to say anything, instead ust filling it away for later.
She greeted everyone as she slid into her seat while Paige didn’t say much, just nodding at the table before glancing down to look at the taco menu.
Azzi settled into a conversation with Nika and Aaliyah to catch up on how their seasons were. Aaliyah talking about finding a better rhythm with the Mystics and Nika’s adjustment to being a part of the Storms roster rotations.
After a few minutes, Azzi nudged Paige’s thigh under the table and leaned closer, tone a little lower. “What are you getting?”
Paige flipped the corner of the menu with her thumb, then looked up at Azzi. “What do you want?”
“I don’t know if I want the chicken or the shrimp…”
That made Paige smile before chuckling as she reached for her water. “I’ll get the chicken for you.”
Azzi smiled widely like it was just them in the room. “Okay.”
Then, just as quickly, Azzi turned back towards Nika and Aaliyah like she knew Paige would end up getting the other meal of whatever she was debating between.
Across the table, Leah tilted her head as she watched the interaction, watching Paige for a few minutes afterwards. She leaned forward, resting her elbows on the table as she directed her voice across the table to Paige. “So, Paige, what do you do for a living?”
The question hung in the air for a few seconds too long without an answer.
Azzi noticed before anyone else did or she noticed differently. Her eyes flicked toward Paige and instead of finding her engaged in any sort of conversation, she found her sitting there silently. She was sitting back in her chair, rolling the paper from her straw between her fingers, her eyes seemingly focused on the spiral she was.
Azzi leaned closer and dropped her voice so only Paige could hear her. “Hey you.”
Paige looked up, her soft blue eyes blinking once before settling on Azzi’s brown ones. “Wassup?” she said gently.
“You okay?” Azzi asked as she studied her expressions.
Paige gave a faint smile, her fingers still moving around the straw paper. “Yeah, why?”
Azzi tilted her head. “You zoned out on me.”
Paige’s grin grew a little, at how cute Azzi looked. “Just wanted to turn my ears off for a second, that's all.”
Azzi looked at her for a few more moments making sure there was nothing else there before reaching under the table to squeeze her knee. “Okay.”
Leah took that as her moment to jump in again, making her voice a little brighter this time, like she wanted to be impossible to ignore. “So Paige, what do you do?”
Paige glanced up from what she was looking at. “I fight.”
Leah nodded like she already knew, sweeping her hair to rest on one shoulder. “Yeah, I feel like I heard Azzi mention that”
Paige just stared at her for a second processing the words without offering much in return before she looked away.
Not ready to let it go, Leah tried again. “You ever train other people?”
Before Paige could respond, Rae snorted and leaned in from across the table. “She’s not very good at it. First time she helped me she left me to go fuck Azzi in—”
“Rae!” Cam yelled loudly, cutting her off.
Azzi’s head snapped toward the conversation, stopping whatever she’d been saying to Nika. “Excuse me?”
Rae coughed, trying to swallow her laugh and walk it back at the same time, mumbling under her breath, “She did though…”
Cam shook her head, dragging a hand down her face in exasperation. “God, you have no filter.”
Of course this is when the waiter approached the table adding to the chaos when he paused with a huge grin that made it clear he thought he was charming. “Damn,” he said as his eyes swept across the group, “must be my lucky day. Never seen this many pretty women at once in my life.”
The table gave a collection of polite laughs as he started to take orders, going around the table one by one. With each woman he made sure to let compliments slip in between confirming the tacos and drinks they wanted.
When he got to Azzi, he grinned at her before licking his lips. “What can I get for you, babygirl?” he asked, letting his eyes linger on her.
Azzi gave him her polite practiced smile and said, “The shrimp tacos and my water is fine, thanks.”
As he scribbled her order down, Paige who had already given her order shifted in her seat. She moved the hand that was previously resting on the table, to settle it on Azzi’s thigh. Using her thumb to slowly brush over the inside of Azzi’s leg.
Azzi didn’t look at her, but the corner of her mouth twitched as she surprised her grin.
The waiter didn’t seem to notice because he was already distracted with flirting with Rae.
Azzi reached down a few seconds later, lacing their fingers together underneath the table.
After that dinner carried on easily. The table was lively but never got too loud as everyone was naturally attuned to their surroundings and didn’t want to interrupt anyone else having their meal.
At one point Cam turned toward Paige, “So you thinking about taking another fight?”
Paige glanced at her. “Maybe.”
Cam raised an eyebrow. “That’s it? No explanation? No other comments?”
“There’s an explanation. Just not a public one yet.”
Cam nodded, accepting that answer as Paige added, “I just miss it. The rhythm of being in the gym. The work that comes with it.”
“Long as it’s not a crutch Paigey.”
Paige gave her a small nod and the conversation flowed back into other parts of the table allowing Paige’s eyes to go down toward her plate. Or, more accurately, what used to be her plate.
Azzi, without noticing, had eaten more off Paige’s plate than her own, her fork drifting over often between comments she threw toward Nika or Aaliyah.
Paige watched her for a few seconds before she lifted Azzi’s plate and slid hers in its place in front of Azzi. Azzi didn’t even pause in her sentence; she just kept talking, moving her fork to the new plate like it was always there.
Rickea caught the quiet plate swap and grinned, shaking her head before calling Paige out, causing a few heads to turn. “Paige, you soft as hell.”
Paige just grinned a little as she finished chewing, before she leaned back in her chair. “Aight, chill.” She said, chuckling a little. “She was already halfway through my food anyway.”
Azzi just shrugged her shoulders as she finished chewing. “It was better than mine.”
That got a few laughs from around the table.
Cam leaned over, giving Paige a look. “So that’s what you’re doing now?”
“What?” Paige asked as she sipped her water.
“I mean, it’s cute but I definitely remember you talking shit when Ben did stuff like that,” Cam teased.
“I appreciate you,” Azzi said softly, nudging Paige with her knee under the table. Paige bumped hers back as she ate some rice to hide her smile.
Leah, who’d been relatively quiet, leaned on the table accentuating her cleavage and tilted her head toward Paige. “Paige, I feel like I know something about everybody at this table but you.”
Paige barely looked up from her plate and didn’t bother to stop chewing. “Not much to know.”
Rae snorted, trying to cover it with her hand causing Rickea to nudge her leg under the table subtly kicking her and telling her to stay out of it. Cam was in the middle of cutting through her enchilada and just raised her eyebrows without looking up.
Nika leaned in offering a more lighthearted tone. “So, is Cam your blood sister or…?”
Cam glanced up. “She’d probably be nicer to me if we were blood.”
Paige just shook her head, biting into her food.
“But we’re god sisters,” Cam clarified, wiping her mouth. “We grew up together, our dads are super close.”
The UConn players nodded and Rickea grinned, deciding to add to the information they had about Paige, “Rae had a lil girl crush on Paige when we first met.”
Rae’s jaw dropped. “No I didn’t!”
Azzi laughed and said, “You still do.”
The table all laughed while Rae looked betrayed. “Wow, Azzi. That’s crazy.”
Azzi gave her a mock innocent look before she sipped her drink. “You were blushing when y’all found us in the kitchen a few weeks ago.”
Cam covered her mouth, laughing.
“I wasn’t blushing!” Rae insisted, but the redness creeping up her neck betrayed her answer.
Rickea leaned into the teasing. “Nah, you definitely were. Face was pink as hell.”
Rae groaned and dropped her head on the table. “Y’all are ridiculous and I hate y’all.”
Leah’s eyes drifted between Rae and Paige. “So you’re used to women throwing themselves at you Paige?”
“No.”
Paige’s one word answer sat in the air before Leah pivoted, looking at Azzi. “You’re cool with one of your teammates crushing on your girlfriend?”
Azzi added a slight sharpness to her tone when she answered. “Rae doesn’t actually want Paige. She just gets a little bi panic sometimes.”
Rae lifted her head from the table. “Y’all gotta stop calling me gay every chance you get.”
A collective chorus came from around the table, “You literally are.” Even Paige cracked a smile.
Azzi, calmly added, “Rae’s also not grimy, though. I know I don’t actually have anything to worry about.” She let that last sentence hang in the air purposefully letting her eyes drift to meet Leah’s.
Leah lifted her glass to drink it, offering Azzi a tight smile over the rim.
The moment passed and there was a slight tension that lingered but the table rolled on like nothing happened.
Azzi turned back toward Paige, “You like the shrimp baby?”
Paige nodded with her mouth full. “It’s good.”
Azzi gave her a look. “Do you really like it, or are you just saying that ’cause I like the chicken more? You don’t usually like to eat shrimp.”
Paige laughed, quietly from her chest. “Nah, it’s good don’t worry about it mama.”
Azzi was skeptical so she picked up one of her chicken tacos, and held it out for Paige to take a bite. Paige grinned as she leaned in to take a bite, her lips brushing the edge of Azzi’s fingers.
Azzi smiled softly, wiping the sauce from the corner of Paige’s lips, and letting her eyes linger on her for a second longer than she realized.
While Paige was chewing, she caught Leah, looking again. Not even trying to be subtle with it this time around.
Paige leaned in closer to Azzi to put her lips near her ear. “Wassup with your friend?”
Azzi chuckled under her breath, shaking her head as she looked down at her plate. “She’s…” She paused, eyes narrowing thoughtfully like she was editing herself. “Loose.”
Paige coughed to hide her laugh. “That’s the word you went with?”
Azzi nodded slowly, biting back a smile. “It’s the nicest one that came to mind.”
Paige kept her eyes on Azzi as she asked, “Why she here then?”
“Because I’m nice.” She glanced at Paige and made her tone a little drier before she added, “And we went to UConn together.”
“Mmm,” Paige hummed, leaning back in her chair. She stretched her arm out, throwing it across the back of Azzi’s chair before she went back to eating.
When the two of them drift back to the conversation taking place at the table Cam was talking about something that happened at a photoshoot while Rae and Rickea threw in their two cents every few seconds. It was the kind of disorganized energy Azzi was used to from her teammates but her eyes kept drifting to Leah.
More specifically the way Leah kept watching Paige out of the corner of her eye. Or the way her laugh got a little louder whenever Paige so much as shifted the way she was sitting. The way her fingers ran along the rim of her glass like she was trying to catch attention.
Azzi opted not to say anything at first. Deciding to just lean a little closer into Paige, running her hands along her arms or messing with the hair on the back of her neck subtly.
But then Leah did that thing again where she dragged her straw between her lips slow as hell while she looked right at Paige like she wanted to be caught ‘subtly’ doing it.
Azzi decided not to make a scene. She just reached for Paige’s water without asking because hers was empty and took a long sip before setting it back down.
“Baby, can you pass me your phone?”
Paige naturally went to grab Azzi’s phone out of her pocket before she processed what she asked. “You said my phone?”
Azzi nodded. “Mhmm.”
Paige reached into her sweats pocket and handed it to her. Azzi leaned into Paige’s side as she took it, her shoulder pressing gently against Paige’s side as she scrolled through the screen.
Paige glanced down at her, laughing when she saw Azzi looking for something to do. “What are you even looking at?”
Azzi shrugged. Paige grinned and leaned closer, dropping her voice to make sure no one else could hear her. “You know I love it when you do that.”
Azzi’s eyes lifted slowly, meeting hers. “I know.”
You plan on doing something about it later? Follow up on that whole ‘wear me out’ talk this morning?”
Azzi tilted her head, looking up at Paige in that way that always made Paige’s stomach warm. “Seems like that’s what you want.”
Paige licked her lips, dragging her eyes over Azzi’s lips before meeting her eyes again. “Maybe.”
Azzi chuckled under her breath. “The marks from last time just faded a few days ago.”
Paige hummed. “Mmm. I get real lonely without ‘em.”
That made Azzi grin and she slid her hand up, to curl her fingers gently around Paige’s jaw to guide her ear close to her lips. “You’re such a bottom, baby.”
Paige tightened her jaw turning her head so her eyes could linger on Azzi’s lips. She licked her own slowly before asking, “Am I?”
“You are.”
Paige nodded once. “Bet.”
Azzi raised an eyebrow, catching the shift in Paige’s tone. “I don’t like how you said that like I won’t put you in your place.
Paige just nodded as she used her fork to grab some rice. “We’ll see.”
Azzi chuckled. “We will.”
The rest of dinner passed in an easier rhythm. Paige kept one arm around the back of Azzi’s chair, using her fingers to brush over Azzi’s arm now and then. Azzi had her hand on Paige’s thigh, her thumb tracing over the fabric of her sweats absentmindedly.
When the check came, Paige reached for it with her card already in her hand.
Nika leaned forward. “We can split that.”
“Let me send you some of it,” Aaliyah added, already opening her phone.
Rickea didn’t look up from her phone. “Y’all, don’t waste your time. She already gave it to the waiter.”
Cam added, “There’s really no point. You’re just going to waste your breath.”
Leah chimed in, making sure to make her tone sweet. “So how can I pay you back?”
“Azzi’s gon’ pay me back for it,” Paige said, making sure her eyes lingered on her girlfriend. “Don’t worry about it.”
Azzi bit her lip at the insinuation and Cam groaned next to them, closing her eyes. “You’re truly disgusting,” she mumbled
The waiter returned with Paige’s card and she handed him a cash tip causing him to pause. “Yo, this is too much, man.”
Paige waved him off without looking up from her lap where she was putting her card back in her wallet. “It’s all good.”
Once everything was squared away, Paige turned to Azzi, already reaching for her hand underneath the table. “You ready baby?”
Azzi nodded as they stood up with their fingers still laced.
As they slid their chairs in, Rickea needed to get one more dig in. “Y’all gonna make out in the Uber or wait till you get back home?”
Azzi shot her a look over her shoulder. “Worry about your own ride, Kea.”
Paige just huffed out a laugh, keeping her hand on the small of Azzi’s back as they walked toward the door.
…
Contrary to what Rickea thought, the car ride was quiet. Azzi had her head resting on Paige’s shoulder and their fingers were laced together on her lap.
“Thank you,” Azzi whispered, her voice soft and close to Paige’s skin. “For dinner. For always paying.”
Paige shrugged, glancing down at her. “You know it’s nothing.”
Azzi tilted her head up to look at her. “Still. I appreciate you and everything you do for me.”
They sat in a comfortable silence for a few minutes, the lights from the street outside sliding over their faces.
“You good?” Paige asked quietly, her eyes still looking out the window at the city rolling by.
“Yeah. I’m amazing, actually. Why?”
Paige gave her a soft smile. “Just wanted to check in with you. Make sure you’re okay.”
Azzi looked up at her again, letting her gaze linger this time. “You always do.”
Without saying anything else, Paige leaned her head down, brushing her lips softly against Azzi’s.
Azzi let her eyes flutter closed, whispering against Paige’s mouth, “I love you.”
Paige grinned as she pulled back to look at her for a few seconds, using her thumb to gently brush a loose braid out of Azzi’s face. “I love you.”
Azzi squeezed Paige’s hand a little tighter then leaned her head back on Paige’s shoulder.
The city passed by them in streaks of color as Azzi let the silence settle between them comfortably to let Paige have a moment.
Paige rested her head on top of Azzi’s and neither of them said anything else for the rest of the ride.
…
Paige was standing under the hot stream of water when she felt arms wrap around her torso. A soft smile immediately pulled at her lips and she wiped the water from her face before she turned around finding Azzi with her braids up in a bun, skin already dewy from wiping her makeup off.
“Wassup.”
Azzi laughed, returning Paige’s smile. “I need to remove that word from your vocabulary.”
Paige laughed, moving her hands up to rest on Azzi’s hips. “Why you hatin’?”
“You talk to me like I’m everybody else.”
Paige’s smile softened and she pulled Azzi in a little closer, wrapping her arms tighter around her waist to tuck her head into Azzi’s neck, where she pressed a few gentle kisses against her skin.
“You want me to talk to you softer, sweetheart?” she asked quietly, each word causing her lips to brush against Azzi’s throat.
Azzi leaned into her touch, letting the warmth of Paige’s mouth and the water ease her into silence.
Paige whispered again, gentler this time, “Answer me when I’m talkin’ to you, baby.”
Azzi felt that flutter in her chest and the warmth curling deep in her stomach almost immediately. She took a quiet breath and let her fingers slide up Paige’s back to the nape of her neck, holding her in place.
“I love when you’re gentle with me,” Azzi whispered, her voice barely audible over the sound of the water.
Paige hummed as she started to kiss along Azzi’s neck. She sucked gently enough to draw a soft sound from Azzi’s lips before soothing the spot with her tongue causing Azzi’s eyes to flutter closed.
“You make it easy,” Paige whispered. “So perfect for me.”
Azzi swallowed, stroking her thumb in slow circles along the base of Paige’s neck.
Paige kissed at Azzi’s pulse point, opening her mouth a little more. “It’s nothing I wouldn’t do for you.”
“Paige baby,” Azzi whispered. It was barely audible, like it slipped from somewhere in her chest as she pressed herself into Paige a little more, like she couldn’t help it.
Paige smirked against her neck. “Be a good girl and say please for me.”
Azzi barely hesitated. “Please, baby.”
Paige stopped moving for a second to let the tension grow between them, before whispering close to her ear, “Please who?”
Azzi swallowed as she felt heath pooling between her legs. “Please, daddy.”
Paige grinned before she messily kissed at Azzi’s neck slowly “Good girl.”
Paige let her fingers trail down, to rest against Azzi’s clit. She made sure to just barely brush her fingers against it as she traced soft circles against the bud. Azzi’s forehead dropped onto Paige’s shoulder and her breath was a little shaky against her neck. Neither of them said anything for a while. The only sounds coming from the water and the rhythm of Azzi’s quiet moans filling the space.
Paige made sure to keep her hand steady, drawing tight circles without thinking. Azzi’s body rose and fell with each breath she took until she tilted her head up her nose brushing along Paige’s jaw before she lifted her chin enough to kiss her.
It was soft at first, patient as Paige moved her fingers in perfect circles running through Azzi’s folds every so often.
But when Azzi pushed herself closer, shifting her hips against Paige’s hands her fingers slipped near Azzi’s entrance and she felt her stomach tighten at how wet Azzi was.
Paige slid her tongue gently against Azzi’s, deepening the kiss with a loud exhale that sounded more like a sigh than anything else. She pulled her hand from Azzi’s center to circle her arms around her waist instead to pull her in tighter.
Their bodies slid together easily keeping the kiss slow but not as neat.
When Azzi caught Paige’s bottom lip between her teeth, she tugged it just enough to pull a low groan from Paige, her fingers flexing against her skin. Azzi let herself be backed up, her shoulder blades pressing into the tile as Paige’s body crowded her space.
Azzi gasped when her back met the semi cold wall, and Paige took the opening slipping her tongue into Azzi’s mouth. Azzi tried to take back control tilting her head to deepen the kiss herself but Paige met her halfway, one hand sliding up the nape of her neck to hold her in place gently.
Neither one of them were rough but the energy between them was taut. Like every move was from one of them trying to gain the upper hand. Paige pressed forward with a gentle force, like she could pin Azzi in place without using her hands. Azzi answered by dragging her nails down Paige’s spine, making her groan in her mouth from the slight sting.
Azzi kissed with a hungry rhythm intent on trying to lead and Paige kissed back with a more steady control trying to make her earn it.
Before Azzi could fully register the shift, Paige was turning off the water. The sudden stillness of the steamy air only made the tension between them more pronounced. Without breaking contact for long, Paige reached for a towel, wrapping it around Azzi and running it gently over her shoulders as she walked them backward until Azzi’s back met the edge of the bathroom counter.
“Sit up here for me, mama,” Paige whispered.
Azzi met her eyes and didn’t move, her lips still swollen from their kiss. This was her subtle, stubborn attempt to hold her ground. To keep the little bit of control Paige had given her.
Paige raised her eyebrow before she just decided to lift her onto the counter like she didn’t weigh anything. Azzi caught as she was set on the counter, her thighs parting instinctively.
Paige moved to stand between Azzi’s legs, her blue eyes appearing darker as she dragged them slowly across Azzi’s frame. She licked her lips without thinking, her gaze focusing on Azzi’s bare chest, the way the water still clung to her skin, on Azzi’s natural toned muscles.
Noticing the daze she had Paige in, Azzi decided to use it to her advantage. “Get on your knees for me.”
Paige’s lips parted in awe as she processed that Azzi was talking to her, giving her instructions. She blinked once, then met Azzi’s brown eyes. “Hm?”
Azzi let her hands glide up Paige’s shoulders to press her down. A slight nidge letting Paige know what she wanted. “I said get on your knees for me.”
Paige dropped almost immediately, looking between Azzi’s legs and shaking her head. "Jesus you’re so wet for me baby." As she says this she spreads Azzi’s legs further, lifting one over her shoulder.
Paige closed her mouth around Azzi’s center sliding her tongue through her folds with a slow pressure before she zeroed in on her clit. She sucked it into her mouth, circling her tongue a few times on the bud before realising it and dragging her mouth down. Azzi slapped one of her hands against the counter behind her as she tangled the other one in Paige’s hair jerking her hips forward in an attempt to feel more. "Oh shit baby, you're so good. Fuck don't stop."
Paige moaned into Azzi’s center like she was feeling it herself. Like Azzi was her favorite thing to eat as she swirled her tongue messily around her. She locked her lips around her clit again before sliding her tongue down and easing it into Azzi. This caused Azzi to moan as her eyes rolled back in bliss.
"You taste so good mama," Paige said. Her horse voice vibrated against Azzi making her hips jerked forward, again gushing around her tongue. Paige hummed at this, pushing her muscle deeper into Azzi urging her to tighten her fingers in her hair. The sounds echoing through the bathroom were louder than they probably should’ve been for an apartment but Azzi couldn’t help it.
All Azzi could do was grind into Paige’s mouth, chasing every movement of her tongue as she let her head fall back against the wall of the bathroom. Paige pulled Azzi closer, lapping at her center like she couldn’t get enough of how she tasted.
“Shit baby swear I could eat you for the rest of my life,” Paige whispered before she dipped back down.
Azzi moaned at this but before she let herself fully melt into Paige’s mouth she remembered she was supposed to be the one in control.
She pushed herself into Paige’s mouth a few more times, biting her lip to stop the obscene sounds that were trying to fall from her lips before her fingers flexed and she pressed against Paige’s shoulders to ease her back. Paige resisted with a low whine, her hands tightening to hold onto Azzi’s ass.
“Uh-uh,” Paige whispered, her lips brushing against Azzi’s center. “Come on, baby, you doing so good for me.”
Azzi’s hand down and she wrapped her fingers around Paige’s jaw to tilt her head up towards her. Paige’s eyes were hazy, her pupils blown as she licked her lips. Her nose, lips, and chin were all slick, shining with the bathroom lights.
Azzi held her gaze. “Stand up.”
Paige blinked in a slight daze, clearly not ready to let go. “Azzi, please,” she whispered with a horse, needy voice. “Lemme help you finish—I swear, baby, I got you, you don’t gotta do nothing. Just sit back—”
Azzi shook her head once, slowly. “No.”
She tightened her grip and pulled gently on Paige’s jaw to make her stand up. Paige’s legs responded before the rest of her did as she stumbled up to stand in front of Azzi with slightly uneven breaths, her hands twitching at her sides like she didn’t know what to do with them now.
Azzi studied her for a long second before smiling. “You listen to me right? Not the other way around.”
Paige swallowed hard and nodded.
“Good,” Azzi whispered. “Now go in the room and lay on the bed for me.”
Paige licked her lips, still breathing a little heavier than usual, trailing her eyes down Azzi’s body and back up to her face.
“What if I don’t want to?”
Azzi didn’t say a word. She just tilted her head to the side and raised one eyebrow slowly. Paige felt the message hit her square in the chest.
She bit the inside of her cheek, deciding not to argue back yet before she turned and walked out of the bathroom.
When Azzi walked into the bedroom, she paused for a second at the door, to look at Paige sprawled out on the bed. Her blonde hair was messily fanned over the pillow. Her body was relaxed but her eyes were more alert now, following every step Azzi took toward her.
Azzi licked her tongue across her bottom lip and couldn’t help but smirk when she caught the gesture. Azzi crawled up the bed, her knees sinking into the mattress until she was hovering over Paige, her lips brushing over Paige’s collarbone before settling next to her ear. “Don’t touch,” Azzi whispered in warning.
Paige just hummed lowly, as she cockily grinned up at Azzi.
Azzi moved down pressing soft kisses along the top of Paige’s chest before letting her mouth drift lower. Her lips dragged across Paige’s skin before she started to suck and nip at it, leaving marks that bloomed beneath the surface. She wasn’t biting enough to hurt Paige, just enough pressure to make her feel it later the way Azzi knew she liked.
Paige's breath hitched when Azzi’s mouth traveled across the edge of her ribs, a faint sound leaving her throat when Azzi bit a little harsher than expected. Azzi pulled back to glance up, her eyes meeting Paige’s. “You good?” Azzi asked softly, her fingers still tracing the side of Paige’s waist.
Paige nodded. “You know I love it baby,” she whispered.
Azzi grinned before she attached her mouth back to Paige’s skin and worked her way down her torso slowly, biting and sucking along the smooth plane of her abs, then lower. With each one she purposefully left behind a faint sting and followed it up with the soft drag of her tongue to soothe it.
“Shit,” Paige whispered as she tilted her head down to look. Her torso already littered with marks, her skin glowing under the low light in the room.
Azzi lifted her head, both of their eyes dark as they looked at each other before, Azzi lowered her mouth, just above Paige’s hip. She bit down hard enough to make Paige wince slightly before she sucked, harshly.
“Ah fuck, Azzi…” Paige exhaled, her hands gripping the sheets to stop herself from touching her. “Feels so good baby—fuck.”
Azzi sat back tracing her fingers over one of the deeper marks near Paige’s ribs. “You like feeling all this don’t you?” she said quietly, but it wasn’t really a question.
Paige nodded as her chest rose and fell in shallow breaths. “Yeah,” she whispered. “I like it. I love—I love when you do that.”
Azzi smiled and leaned back over Paige, her hands bracketing the side of Paiges ribs, letting her lips brush just above her sternum.
“You wanna be marked up like this? Wanna walk around letting everybody know I did this to you?” As she asked this she trailed her tongue along Paige’s abs as she looked up at her.
Paige tightened her jaw and dropped her head back against the pillow, “Yeah…yeah, I want that baby.”
Azzi sucked on her hips again, lower this time, before lifting her head and whispering, “Say thank you.”
Paige’s eyes fluttered. “Thank you, baby.”
Azzi bit at her hip again, drawing another soft moan from Paige’s throat. She pulled back to admire the growing constellation of love bites, flushed skin and marks.
Satisfied with what she saw, Azzi moved up to hover over Paige whispering, “You can touch now baby.”
Paige wrapped her arms around Azzi’s neck and pulled Azzi’s body on top of hers connecting their lips in a slow dance.
Azzi slid her hand down Paige’s side, gliding her fingers over her waist until she settled between Paige’s legs feeling how warm she was already. Azzi ran her fingers through Paige’s folds a few times before she slid to fingers in slowly.
Paige couldn’t help but arch into the feeling, letting out a low moan as her mouth parted.
Azzi rested her forehead against Paige’s as she watched every expression flicker across her face. “I love you like this.”
She kept her forehead resting lightly against hers, watching every twitch of her face, every little shiver. her legs shifted feet planting against the mattress as her hips rolled up to meet the rhythm of Azzi’s hand.
"Right there baby," Paige whispered out as she started to roll her hips to meet Azzi’s movements. "Shit feels good baby."
Azzi made sure to keep moving her fingers in careful strokes. Moving her thumb up to circle Paige’s clit with just enough pressure to make her body shake slightly underneath her.
"Fuck keep going for me baby," Paige said.
Azzi descended down Paige’s body keeping her same rhythm as she felt Paige’s core tightening around her fingers. When she reached Paige’s hips she pressed her legs apart easily before she leaned down and dragged her tongue over her clit a few times.
She placed her free hand on Paige’s hips to keep them down before she wrapped her lips around her clit and gently sucked as she curled her fingers.
Paige’s hand moved down to rest on Azzi’s head, a loud moan coming from her throat. Azzi couldn’t help but look up to see Paige’s expression. The way her lips parted, how her eyebrows creased together and how she worked to push her hips up into Azzi.
“Fuck—shit so crazy mama,” Paige moaned out, her voice horse.
Azzi moaned into her mouth in response, letting go of Paige’s hips to let her arch further into her mouth. Azzi sped up her movements and Paige burrowed her head further into the pillows biting on her bottom lip to suppress the sounds coming from her throat.
Paige started to push herself unrhythmically into Azzi’s face and fingers to chase her release.
The sounds of Paige’s low moans and the sounds dripping from her center had Azzi pushing her own hips into the mattress for any kind of friction.
Without any warning Azzi felt Paige’s thighs start to tremble, heat pooling out of her as she came undone. Azzi made sure she fucked her through it, keeping the same pace with her tongue and fingers until Paige was no longer twitching under her.
Azzi eased away from Paige’s center, moving herself up to straddle her stomach. She sat there for a few minutes, watching Paige’s relaxed expression before she leaned up and whispered in her ear, “Can I ride you please baby?” slowly rolling her hips over Paige’s stomach.
“Of course you can mama.” Paige whispered back as she let Azzi suck a mark into her neck. When Azzi was done she connected her lips with Paiges and rolled her hips into the kiss.
Paige reached down to rest her hands on Azzi’s hips, guiding the way her hips were rocking further into her stomach. She attached her lips to Azzi’s nipple and Azzi’s back naturally arched into her mouth as she let out a string of moans.
Azzi ran her hand through Paige’s hair, holding her head against her chest and letting out a soft moan when she felt Paige nip at her nipple. “Oh fuck,” she moaned when Paige tightened her grip around her waist guiding her movements with more pressure.
“Shit daddy—“ Azzi moaned as she started to move a little more frantically, breathing faster in Paige’s ear. Paige tensed her abdomen and Azzi moaned again shakily, rolling into Paige harder now as her slick spread across her stomach.
For a few minutes Paige just watched Azzi in awe, watching every grind that made Azzi whisper her name, the way her head fell back and her eyes fluttered shut in bliss.
“Shit I’m about to cum baby,” Azzi cried out, rocking herself harder, moaning out into the air of the room. “Please don’t shit—please…fuck baby.” Azzi's head dropped near Paige’s now as her release started to coil tight in her stomach.
Azzi gasped, her voice cracking against Paige’s skin. “Fuck daddy I’m—I’m about to—”
Before the words slipped off Azzi’s tongue Paige’s hands were on Azzi’s hips dragging her across her stomach one more time before lifting her off of her abdomen causing a startled whimper out of her as she gushed down her legs without permission. Azzi’s legs were still shaking when Paige flipped her onto her back gently.
Paige got up to stand on the side of the bed with her stomach glistening with the evidence of how wet Azzi got for her. She ran a hand through her damp hair and then looked down at her girlfriend who was messy and flushed, already watching her with wide eyes for whatever was next.
“C’mere,” Paige said.
Azzi crawled forward on her hands and knees stopping when she was kneeling right in front of her. Paige tilted her head down to look at her. Smiling a little at what she saw. “Clean me up.”
Azzi’s lips parted to say something before she just nodded and did exactly what she was told. Taking her time, letting her tongue slide over Paige’s skin generously. Paige’s hand slid to the back of her head as she watched her.
When she was done, Paige gently cupped her jaw with one hand. “You had fun?” she asked, brushing her thumb along Azzi’s cheek.
Azzi nodded into her hand, as she looked up at her with her doe eyes.
Paige grinned before whispering. “Don’t move.”
She stepped away, and Azzi obeyed, deciding to just sit there and watch her move. Paige crossed the room, grabbing the strap before she climbed back onto the bed slowly.
She slid her fingers under Azzi’s chin and guided her face up before leaning in to kiss her gently, a contrast to the rounds before. Paige kissed her like she owned every inch of her, and Azzi kissed her back like she was okay with that.
Paige adjusted the strap easing one end into herself with a soft sigh before she leaned down to look at Azzi.
“You good beautiful?" Paige asked gently.
Azzi nodded and Paige pushed into her slowly, both of them moaning at the feeling. Paige rested her head on Azzi’s shoulders for a few seconds, adjusting to the feeling before she started moving her hips into Azzi. She made sure to hit deep into Azzi’s cervix each time, using her hands on Azzi’s waist to pull her deeper into the thrust causing the headboard to hit the wall behind them.
Paige leaned down, pulling Azzi’s mouth into a messy kiss, their lips sliding against each other like they couldn’t get enough. Azzi's fingers found Paige's hair without, pulling gently at the slightly strands as she pulled her closer.
There was something incredible, almost dizzying, about the way Paige moved into her. The rhythm she had. How she could fill Azzi up completely in one moment and make her ache from complete absence in the next. The constant push and pull and the quiet control it gave Paige made Azzi feel owned in the most respectful way.
Paige pulled back to drop her eyes to where their bodies were meeting. Her breath hitched, and she muttered, “Shit,” almost like she didn’t mean to say it out loud when she saw the slick pooling between the both of them.
Azzi couldn’t find her voice to answer. She just wrapped her arms around Paige’s back, nails grazing skin as she pulled her even closer, wrapping her legs around her hips. Her forehead pressed against Paige’s jaw.
Paige kissed along Azzi’s cheek before bringing their foreheads together.
“You feel that baby?” she whispered, her uneven breaths brushing across Azzi’s skin. “That’s mine. You’re mine.”
Azzi nodded, her lips parting as quiet moans fell from her mouth.
Paige brushed her thumbs across Azzi’s cheeks. “Tell me it’s mine.”
Azzi choked on a moan, her voice unsteady as she nodded quickly. “It’s yours, baby. Fuck I’m yours.”
Paige smiled, leaning in again so their foreheads could touch. Her hands still resting on Azzi’s cheeks gently.
Azzi’s hands moved up, gently guiding Paige’s wrists toward her neck to wrap around it. Paige shook her head no. “Don’t do that, mama.”
“I want it daddy,” Azzi whispered. “Just be gentle with me.”
Paige swallowed, letting her eyes search Azzi before she nodded, adjusting her hold to have both hands wrapped gently around Azzi’s neck.
Azzi’s lashes fluttered as her eyes rolled back and Paige leaned in again. “Say it again for me,” Paige moaned out, her mouth brushing Azzi’s jaw as she rolled her hips into her. “Say who you belong to.”
“You, Paige. Only you baby.”
Paige hummed, like that was all she needed to hear to make it in the world before she started to speed up. “Suck a good girl.”
"Fuck yes…shit baby harder," Azzi moaned out as Paige started to roll into her quicker. Azzi’s lips parted as silent moans slipped out and Paige leaned down, using her thumb to open Azzi’s mouth further, spitting in her mouth and watching as Azzi looked straight at her and swallowed it.
The sight made Paife’s stroked falter so they flipped over, Azzi easily finding a rhythm to grind on the strap. Paige hands found Azzi’s hips as she started meeting her movements with her own hips, both of them moaning without restraint. “Mmm, just like that mama. Ride me just like that,” Paige groaned and Azzi bounced on her harder, filling the room with the mix of their moans, the bed hitting the wall, and their skin meeting one another as they chased an orgasm together.
Paige sat up, chest to chest with Azzi, pulling her into a sloppy uncoordinated kiss. "I need you in me so bad daddy," Azzi whispered as she dug her nails into Paige’s back, the sharp sensation making her hiss.
Paige let her head rest back against the headboard as she moaned, “Do it again and I promise Imma give it to you baby. Give you whatever you want.”
Azzi grinned, settling Paige further into her lap, her fingers trailing down her spine in slow, deliberate strokes.
It only took a few more thrusts of their hips into one another before they came undone together, Azzi’s nails dragging down Paige’s back as she clung to her desperately.
Paige collapsed on the bed, easing Azzi down with her, both of them sweater and more sticky than they’d probably prefer.
Azzi trailed lazy kisses along Paige’s neck as she caught her breath before whispering, “I love you.”
Paige smiled with her eyes closed, teaching her finger down Azzi’s spine. “I love you, baby.”
They stayed like that for a few minutes catching their breath, Azzi gently tracing patterns over Paige’s stomach with the tip of her finger while Paige did the same to her back. The silence felt like a second skin to both of them.
Then Azzi’s phone buzzed. Holding the sheets to her chest Azzi stretched over Paige to grab it from the nightstand.
Her eyebrows raised as she read the screen, then she snorted, turning her phone toward Paige.
Rae [3:22 AM]:
If you’re keeping me up until 3 a.m., at least invite me next time.
Paige laughed, starting to shift underneath Azzi a little before a sting pulled a small wince from her. “Shit,” she mumbled, reaching back instinctively.
“You okay?” Azzi asked, a little more alert with concern.
Paige’s fingers came back with a faint streak of red. She looked at it before she shrugged. “I’m good. Don’t worry about it.”
“You’re bleeding and trying to cuddle like that’s normal,” Azzi said, already sitting up.
Paige reached for her. “C’mon, lay back down—”
“Nope.” Azzi cut her off, pulling the sheet off them and standing up, not giving Paige a choice to say no as she tugged her up by the wrist. “Shower. Now.”
Paige groaned but followed her, letting herself be led with a small smile on her lips. “You’re bossy,” she mumbled.
Azzi glanced back at her pretending to glare but Paige just grinned cutely and Azzi could only roll her eyes.
The two of them stepped in the shower again, rinsing away everything from the night. Azzi stood behind Paige at first, resting her arms around her waist and resting her chin between her shoulder blades. Paige covered her hands with her own and leaned back into her.
Both of them mumbled I love you’s before they closed their eyes and let the warmth hit their bodies.
