My obsession with Frankie Valli & the four seasons

Most of my interests over the years have been fixations/hyper fixations, usually lasting 3 months.

Except for two things; one of them being Frankie valli & the four seasons. Which is odd since they're a 60 year old group, with a much smaller cult following than other popular groups in their time. Or I mean, modern fanbase.

The first song I ever listened to was Can't take my eyes off you circa ~ Dec 2023. Then Ronnie, Big girls don't cry, & c'mon Marianne Feb 2024. I have slowly gone into a rabbit hole ever since then. Which aren't really part of the "rabbit hole" any longer for me.

I couldn't imagine how embarrassing it would be to tell anyone I listen to them. Or anything artists pre/during the Beatles for that matter.

They're basically the only group I listen to. Every time I find a song that I think is basically a masterpiece - I find it boring & dull after like a week. As if it is a chore to listen to.

Frankie valli & the four seasons is a drug, I am addicted to the "yaiaiaias", "owaaaaaas", the backup vocals, & the slightly uncanny valli instruments(pun intended). Last year they were my top artists, at 18k minutes/305 hours/ 12 days total! I'm convinced I'm like one of their top 50 listeners.

So recently I watched that one Netflix series of Asterix & Obelix. & Since I don't know french, I watched it in English. I've never consumed an Asterix media in English before & it completely threw me off.

Like... Dogmatix?? Not idefix?

Also Vitalstatistix? Unhygenix? FULLIAUTOMATIX? Not to complain, but god those are such a mouthfull to say!

They're called Majestix, Hermetix & Armamix respectfully in my language.

Call me stupid but I fully believed they were called the same in every language. They're not, which makes sense since every pun is not gonna work. Still a culture shock like

I think it's really interesting the amount of work that goes into pun names. I've read almost every book to this point & it's completely crazy how many pun names(or puns in general) there are , & imaging 120 different versions translating 40 books... That's 7 200 books!!!

people always assume stuff about what the scooper did to Michael. "oh it took out his organs" "it took out his bones actually" we don't know. we don't know shit. maybe it didn't take out anything at all. and I hear you going "but maia how would Ennard be able to fit if nothing was taken out???" and to that I say: none of this ever made sense in the first place. my man got ratatouilled and they could control his limbs and his facial expressions and then he got up and walked away afterwards. in what world does any of this "make sense"

Sometimes I will add a song that I think is a little more acceptable to listen to, just to remove it two days later because I just end up skipping it anyway. I also have a habit of ONLY listening to one single artist/music group for well over a year at a time.

The last things are the oc stuff I talked about. LMAO was supposed to be stereotypes of the counties (fylker) in Norway. I couldn't fit all the the designs I had in mind, though I tried revamp two a while back (keep in mind the dual ones are little old like, september last year old). Since these stereotypes really only exist in Norway (duh) I'll try to explain some of them.

Okay so the one with the mullet and moustache is from "Trøndelag": their dialect is often used in humor in Norway, some of the stereotypes I used in their design are possibly a bit dated. "trønders" are often portrayed with big unkempt moustaches, a very loved leather vest, snuff in their mouths, drinking karsk (a cocktail from Trøndelag), & being basically impossible to understand.

The happy go lucky guy with red and white boxing equipment is from Agder (the very south of Norway), and is seen as being very Christian, very jovial, very laid back, & very danish. Some other ones but not as common, are watching paradise hotel, & loving Captain sabertooth (kaptein Sabeltann in norwegian). I'm considering naming him "ripped optimist" LOL. He is champion of "major league".

The guy with the cap is from Vestfold, there farming & boats are the meaning of life.

The fake tan guy with the cowboy hat is from Østfold, which gets a lot of shit 🙏🏼 seen as the "Hillbillys" of Norway. Cheap, naive, racist, ugliest dialect, & of course "Harry" which can mean plenty of stuff. But usually comes down to a stupid, tasteless, vulgar, trashy, millennial in a way, fool. Who can be a middle class person trying to seem rich or an upper class person trying to be hip. Maybe they have live laugh love signs plastered all over their home, take regular trips to Sweden to buy shit they don't need, would vote Republican for some odd reason, or uses fake wigs & fur, spraytans, & has a car loitered with trash.

The angry blonde guy is from Troms (woohoo that's me!). Decided to make him a stereotypical "nordlending" (northerner). & I'll be honest. That term is more often than not used for three different counties. Nordland, Troms, & Finmark. The term arriving from Nordland - (Nordlending) But have almost always been used for all three.

Although many people both from Nordland & from the ones further up north, loathe people from Troms & Finmark being called "Nordlending". I feel like "Tromsværinger" are in a way more associated with "Nordlending" than people from Nordland is. So although inaccurate, it is EXACTLY what I strive for.

NOW to get to what the stereotypes are. "Nordlendinger" can be stereotyped as; Swearing, drunk, brutally honest, not technologically advanced, stupid, off putting & rough humour, loving fish, says "horsec*ck" & "fucking southerner" (oh & also, carries most of the stereotypes about people in Oslo. To the point of being seen as obsessed with talking about how much they hate them, & how northerners are superior). Some other stereotypes are sleeping around, good at partying, being hospitable, & not exactly "stranger danger"

The shorter guy is from Finmark. & Is of course Sami. Which is basically over half the stereotypes of that County. Sami's are often portrayed as joiking, reindeer riding, short, sensitive, stupid, etc etc. I was seriously considering not making him Sami, since a lot of stereotypes are very real & have resulted in violence. I still wanted him to have some character & to NOT avoid any form of Sami connotations. Which is also bad. Since the majority of people from Finmark are Sami. If he ever was an actual character, I would need to talk with a lot of actual Sami people.

The blonde dude with a judgemental expression, is from Bærum/Oslo west (Country: Akershus). They are upper class, ignorant, detached from Norwegian culture, a drag to be around, egotistical, "gay" but still ragingly homophobic, materialistic, a little feminine, arrogant & have never been on a camping trip their whole life. Though most of all very soss/keeg. (Keeg literally being a sort of antonym of geek). Someone who often wears pink and light colors, love tennis & golf, wears a bubble vest or has a shirt tied around their neck, slick back or middle part, etc etc. Kinda like Gru from despicable me 4. Other stereotypes: "oh look a new beggar", "no, I just got robbed", "I wanted a pink Porsche not an orange one!". They make fun of northerners & people from Oslo east. This guy is in his early 20's, & I think I made him way too short.

The guy beside the bærum one is from Oslo east. Stereotypes being: immigrants, Wannabe gangsters, rude, doesn't understand other dialects (both Oslo west & East), makes bad rap music, says bro way too much, "ghetto". Over the decades, the class differences between the east & west of Oslo have become very apparent. Like ridiculously apparent. The two sides of Oslo almost live on their own little bubble. While still being detached from the rest of Norway.

The guy in full traditional clothing (bunad) is from Telemark. Who are most known for being unintelligible. But they are also very good at preserving their traditions. Whether it be various dialect words, dances, music, or the bunad. Also Christian and jovial, but not danish.

The guy in orange is from Buskerud, Stereotypes? SKI (seriously Buskerud Is so boring, all I could get from it is a very popular skiing resort LMAO)

Not shown here but the Troms guy & Bærum guy are sworn enemies. After they met at a Recruit training & the Bærum guy laughed at his name. Because another stereotype in Troms are a lot of military camps & ridiculous combined names.

Here is my sucky attempt at angst 😤

And because I'm bored here are some mostly basic headcannons (I'll be saving the better ones for later):

- his real name is Volker Von Kaiser

-  takes English sayings literally

- has PTSD (or ASD, acute stress disorder)

- likes routine

- thinks of himself as the only "normal" person

- grew up in a difficult environment, his mother raised him on what she thought was right. Childhood was built on unstable foundations, but it was always hard to see. Until some form of extreme trauma, he doesn't see it himself though (intentionally vague, because I'm torn on what caused it)

- early bird

- enjoys Sudoku (he's just like me fr)

- not very open

- sleeps like a stick, and is a light sleeper

- his house is very much filled with clocks

- eats low key nasty food, his mind is always on survival mode

- thinks music boxes are the most impressive thing ever
