My first automaton and still needing a lot of finitions.
Soba is maquerel in japanese, which ends up into the pun "ça va ?" using french.
A friend gave me tins of soba that he had bought because he liked the pun but not the food... this is my gift for him in an attempt to preserve what he liked about it.

Pattern work on clay. I used masking end etching. I also used volumetric drawing for the last one that will be enameled. We discussed the fact that o should probable do samples the next time i come, as a color studie. The mugs are hand built with a pinching method.

While soon going back to the ceramic workshop, a little look back on last time highlight : a custom gouache palette. I love ot, even though it is a bit heavy... and i also use the smaller porcelaine ones i made for my travel kit.
This year i'd like to experiment on decors and make tableware - like big mugs, on which to draw...

Final result of the silk carré. Total prototype, i learnt a new stitch for the border half way...
My whole point is : i'm too self conscious to actually offer paintings to my friends. But if i paint on silk, they can still wear it for the color scheme and i have less pressure on the image.
Also i'm totaly obsessed with vegetal patterns, negative space, and contrast between organic and artificial shapes, i make tones of small gouache paintings. This allows me to experiment in more complexe (and wide) compositions.
I don't have any silk paint nor wooden frame. I had some corean textile dye that allowed to paint like watercolor on material. But i took too long to use them and they kind of dried. I had some opaque textile paint pots left and i did some test : if i diluted it, it did look very close to the corean dye.
Then i looked up what textile paints are made of and i believe it is more or less acrylic paint with a slightly more gello binder. Since it's for a present, i still used the textile paint, but i could use acrylic to broden the palette.
I wanted to work on color theory, so i only used ultramarine blue, a slightly purple deep pink, and a orangy yellow. The greys are chromatic greys, no black, only a mix of the 3 colors.
And here is the result.
It used very few paint compared to the size.
Some areas are a bit light and desaturated to my taste, but the silk is very rich and pretty so it's ok. The color scheme is still very safe to wear. And depending on how you wear it you get the chaotic plants or the regular buiding pattern.
I really like the straight brush stokes that fade into gradients on the border, i will keep experimenting on that. Next time i'll try wet on wet to get more diffuse stains.
Also the photo is not great (i took it last minute after i offered it because i forgot to do it at home) but hey we're on tumblr, ain't we

Sunday embroidery meeting. I learnt what will now be for me the "night lotus stitch". That is not what it is called but it is used in indian embroidery to make night lotus. Very efficient filling stitch, perfect to make petals, leaves, and... feathers.

Fix and Magpie wip.
This project is producing way too many ideas for its original intent... I'm planning on making shadiw silhouettes and line art flapping wings for the bird, and overlays of vegetation for the fox...
All that to cover coffee stains 😬😬😬

I'm probably crazy but i started to stain my brownish, boring coffee stains with magenta ink and hibiscus.
Tumblr media
So now i get pretty bold stains instead of subtle but impossible to ignore. Let's say i emphasized the impossible to ignore aspect...
Tumblr media
I was hoping to draw a grid on the stain for the crow pattern, and it's not going too well. So i'm using the eye as a marker and will build from there.

So i spilled coffee on my brand new hoodie and couldn't get rid of the 2 huge stains. I'm going to embroid over them with this 2 designs. The crow is a simplified version of an existing design found on pinterest, the fox is an original me made. I ended up using a pixel art online app and plan to draw a grid on my stains and cross stitch.

#darkHumourDay

To make a little “house” for needles was very meditative and relaxing, I hope you also find the video enjoyable! Now I dream of getting a better mic to be able to catch all those cozy crafting sounds and background sounds. Anyone has some tips n trix on that subject? In this video I’m using ceramic clay which I fired in an electric kiln and Im making a so called “nålhus” which is Swedish and means “needle house”, a place to store your sewing needles and carry them with you. This shape/type of nålhus is inspired by the ones traditionally made by the Sami people who often craft with reindeer horns. They are the indigenous people of northern Scandinavia and Kola Peninsula of Russia. This particular nålhus is sold but I have a few more in my webshop here: https://www.nymla.se/shop You will find more videos of my ceramics crafting at https://www.patreon.com/nymla Check out ma instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nymla Thanks for watching!:)
