Whispers in the Castle

While trying to escape from Dudley and his gang, nine-year-old Harry Apparates himself to Hogwarts instead of the roof of his school. Thrilled by his magical surroundings and the lack of vindictive Dursleys, Harry decides to blend in amongst the students so he can stay in the castle forever. Meanwhile, Severus tries to make sense of a new, tiny first-year whose name he can't quite place.

Look, I’ve reviewed hundreds of fics, I’ve been at this for years, I only have one Fredmione fic in all of them — and it’s perfect for Day 23 of @hprecfest, for A Soulmate Fic. Posturing and Prose by evidenceclaimed.

It’s a universe where the first sentence you hear your soulmate saying is on your skin somewhere, and unfortunately poor Hermione’s sounds like an absolute nutcase. This fic is eight chapters, and almost 80K words. This fic I read in one sitting the first time I read it.

Day 21 of @hprecfest is A Thought Provoking Fic.

This fic probably won’t be most people’s cup of tea, but Anabiosis makes me feel Emotions and Think. A dark fic where Harry gets a new teacher in elementary school who takes a special interest in him. When I think of this fic, my first thoughts are about trauma, and how it makes you interact with scraps of kindness — and in the other hand, how acting kind when it isn’t common practice feels and how it’s expressed. Chapter one was incredible. Then chapter two knocked my socks off.

Day 20 for @hprecfest is A Fic Rated G. And for this one I’m going to pull out what’s probably just my favorite HP fic, period. It’s called “Still Standing,” written by eleventy7. It’s a Perciver fic, but is mostly focused around Percy Weasley and how he makes up for his actions during the war. A tear jerker, for me. It had a lot of accurate descriptions of depression and guilt.
