24: Holding their hand while walking, even if there isn't a crowd (Tommi Lalli)
Part of the 50 wordless ways to say "I love you" series
Tag list: @warriorteam1924 @the-killer-queenie @dumbass-of-darkness @mikeywaysboyfriend @disrespectfullcalum @kyrju @smells-like-perfect-senses @sweetnightowl @whoreforblindchannel @kellyrosie @thetimecrystal @wearenosaints @wow-ihateithere @fedorable-killjoys
Since you were busy with your own job, you couldn't join Tommi for the whole tour, but you did visit him in a couple of cities when you had the time and opportunity to travel there more or less spontaneously.
Every time you got to meet him on tour - like this time in Vienna - the two of you liked to walk around the city, take photos, buy a few little souvenirs and visit museums. It was always a couple's trip in a way - if you ignore his band and crew in tow.
Today, there must have been some kind of market because the town square was much more crowded than the rest of the city. Tommi grabbed your hand so he wouldn't lose you and kept a firm grip on it as you made your way through the sea of people.
When you reached a calmer backstreet, however, he was still holding your hand. You were definitely not complaining, just a bit surprised as he usually didn't show too much physical affection in public. He was more the type to be subtly affectionate in public with an arm around your waist at most while only really letting his loving and cuddly side show when you were alone together.
You lightly squeezed his hand as a sign for him not to let go, which made him glance down at you with a soft smile before he pulled you along to another store window.

probably nobody will see this but I’m kinda rebranding this side-blog since my stranger things brainrot is starting to kick in and I might diversify and start writing for that show too
y’all have to thank Eddie Munson and his big, brown puppy eyes for the new fixation

I’m in love with this concept 🥺
Dad!BC AU - at the Emma Gaala with their families
To celebrate tonight’s Emma Gaala, I decided to make a special post of what the guys are like at the awards show with their families. I wanted to write this as a short idea but I didn’t know who to pick out and I figured it’d be better to summarize everyone. Enjoy!
(Under the read-more for length… I went a little overboard with this one lol.)

expect the unexpected (Matela family)
Parents: Olli/Riina, Aleksi
Kids: The Matela girls (Elina, Elisabet, Isla), Noah Kaunisvesi
Summary: What kind of mischief could four science nerds get into?
Words: 1,264
—
Isla had a genius idea, but she needed a couple helping hands to make it work.
Of all three Matela girls, Isla is the real science nerd. She’s been hungrily consuming every kids’ book about nature, animals, and plants ever since she could read, and her parents are more that happy to foster that natural interest. Riina doesn’t even mind having to constantly clean up a dirty toddler after a romp in the yard, as long as she’s enjoying herself.
Elina and Elisabet, on the other hand, aren’t very big on playing in the mud like Isla. But they love any chance they can get to cause a little chaos with their little sister. After all, they provide the mischief and she provides the willingness to get her hands dirty; it’s all a match made in heaven.

20: Participating in their hobby even if it doesn't personally interest you (Olli Matela)
Part of the 50 wordless ways to say "I love you" series
Tag list: @warriorteam1924 @satans-vengeance @the-killer-queenie @dumbass-of-darkness @mikeywaysboyfriend @disrespectfullcalum @kyrju @smells-like-perfect-senses @sweetnightowl @whoreforblindchannel @kellyrosie @thetimecrystal @wearenosaints @wow-ihateithere @fedorable-killjoys
Opposites attract - that's why you and Olli were together despite you actually hating yoga. Maybe hate was a strong word, but you were definitely not a fan. You had never tried it, but you knew you were going to be terrible at it and that quickly made you lose interest in something. You weren't flexible and lacked balance. Perfect preconditions.
Still, you wanted to give it a chance this time. For Olli. He never asked you to because he knew you didn't like it. You just wanted to try it out to show him you cared about him and because he listened to you rambling about things you were passionate about that he personally wasn't interested in too.
"Hey, can I um… do yoga with you?" you asked as he rolled out his mat on the living room floor.
"Of course!" His eyes lit up as he looked at you and stood up to get another mat for you.
Before you started, you warned him, "But don't laugh at me, you know I suck at this."
"You only suck at it because you haven't done it yet! I'd never make fun of you," he reassured you.
For this yoga session, Olli only did some easy positions, starting with the Mountain Pose, which was basically just standing. So far so good, you could do this.
When you got to the ones that required balance, though, he kept encouraging you, even after you nearly fell over. "That was pretty good! You're doing well, babe," he praised you and you just chuckled nervously.
Lastly, the two of you laid on the floor in the relaxation posture for a couple of minutes before Olli turned his head to you. "So what do you think?"
"That you're more patient with me than I expected," you laughed. "I must admit, I'd do it again."
He smiled happily and kissed the back of your hand. The main reason you'd do it again was that you loved seeing him in his element and you considered it extra quality time, which was rare enough when he was working.

The Christmas Savior
Pairing: Aleksi Kaunisvesi x reader (platonic!Blind Channel & reader)
Requested by anon
Summary: Due to a snowstorm, you can't go home for the holidays, so Aleksi and the boys decide to surprise you.
Tags: Christmas, fluff, a little angst
Words: 1,025
A/N: Now I really want to spend Christmas with these guys (gif credit)
Tag list: @warriorteam1924 @slashscowboyboots @losers-yurio @lost-in-the-80s @lucyboytom @blood-on-blood @halloween-chick-in-love-with-cas @jennyggggrrr @tuffduff @jonesyownsmyheart @rhyetaylor62 @necro-fucks @ayablackwood @the-killer-queenie @dumbass-of-darkness @mikeywaysboyfriend @disrespectfullcalum @kyrju @smells-like-perfect-senses @sweetnightowl @whoreforblindchannel @kellyrosie @thetimecrystal @wearenosaints @wow-ihateithere
For this Christmas, you had been planning to go home to see your family. Since you had moved to Finland, you hadn't gotten a chance to see them except for the one visit your closest family members had paid you. That's why it would have been even more special to finally spend the holidays with them again - if it wasn't for this snowstorm that led to many flights being canceled.
You waited until the last day before Christmas Eve to see if any flights had been added in the meantime, calling the airline and asking if they knew when they could approach any airport in your home country. Even if it was on Christmas Day itself, it would be better than nothing, but the customer consultant couldn't help you either.
When you were certain you couldn't come, you called your parents, telling them about the situation and that you really wished you could have managed to visit them, but you'd try to catch the next possible flight. You were still on the phone when Aleksi came in and stood still in the doorway so he wouldn't disturb you.
He could tell that you were sad. It was completely understandable that you were disappointed. You had been so excited to see your family for the first time in about a year. Your suitcase was packed, the presents were bought and the flight was booked. Everything was set for your trip and now you were stuck in Helsinki.
"I think I'll stay at my apartment for the night," you mumbled, walking over to Aleksi after hanging up and putting your phone in your pocket.
He kissed your forehead and hugged you tightly. "As you will, love. Will you come over tomorrow?"
"Yeah… Good night, Allu."
"Good night," he said, squeezing your hand before you left his flat.
Once you were gone, he texted the Blind Channel group chat. "Hey, it turns out (y/n) can't visit their family over the holidays. Would you guys help me surprise them?"
Needless to say, they agreed to help him save your holidays. They all loved you and they couldn't let you have a blue Christmas, so they spent the evening working out a plan.
In the morning of Christmas Eve, you were sitting on your bed, feeling depressed because if everything had worked out, you would have woken up in your childhood bedroom to the smell of your grandmother's Christmas pastries. You were pulled out of your thoughts when you heard a car honking under your window. You walked over to see who it was and recognized Tommi's car.
Since he didn't want to wake any more people up by shouting at you to come down, he called you on the phone. "Good morning and merry Christmas! Would you please come down if you're ready?" he asked.
"Sure, wait a minute," you replied, hanging up before putting on some nice clothes and locking your apartment door.
When you walked towards his car, he pushed the door open for you, but you didn't get in yet, looking at him slightly suspiciously. "Where are we going?"
"Just get in. You'll see."
"I'm kinda scared," you admitted as you eventually got in the car and closed the door.
"I promise it will be great," he insisted with a smile, starting to drive after you put on the seatbelt.
You trusted Tommi because you knew he wouldn't lie to you. To be honest, if Joonas had picked you up, you probably wouldn't have gotten in. When he said it was going to be good, it was like Russian roulette - chances it was only fun for him were higher than it actually being fun for everyone else as well.
Tommi drove unusually slowly, taking a quick look at his phone every time he stopped at red lights. After he finally parked in front of the building Aleksi lived in, you both got out of the car and reaching his apartment, you knocked on the door, which was opened by Joel.
He rushed back to the living room and as you followed him, you found all the guys - minus Tommi, who was walking behind you - gathered around the decorated tree. Niko and Joel were crouching down in front of the tree while Aleksi and Olli were standing on either side and Joonas, being Joonas, was on the floor, lying on the side. They shouted in unison, "Merry Christmas!"
You were close to tears. You had thought they'd all be at home with their own families, but they really took the time to prepare this surprise for you. "Aw, don't cry!" Aleksi said, walking over to you and pulling you in for a hug.
"Did you organize this?" you asked, looking at him.
"Well, yeah. You know I hate to see you so sad, but especially now I couldn't just shrug it off and not do anything. You deserve this," he answered, giving you a kiss on the lips.
"Thank you, it really means a lot to me." You turned to the rest of the band. "I'm speechless, I love you guys so much. But… I thought you were celebrating with your own families?"
"We are," Niko confirmed. "But as Alex said, we couldn't do nothing. We'll leave around noon, though."
"Then we'll leave you two lovebirds alone," Joonas teased, puckering his lips.
"But until then, we can open our presents and eat the cookies we baked!" Olli added.
Just like every year, the boys got each other presents and while they normally handed them over a day before, you unwrapped them now. They even bought you a few little gifts too and of course, Aleksi got you a bigger one - something you had had your eye on for a while which he just had to buy for you.
You were listening to music and eating gingerbread cookies together until it was time for the others to go home. While you said goodbye to everyone, you thanked each of them individually for making this a nice Christmas after all. Not only did you have the best boyfriend, but also the best friend group you could ask for.

Siren Song (Joel Hokka)
Pairing: no pairings in this one, sorry
Word Count: 1732
Summary: During a sleepless night, Joel meets someone very special
Warnings: just angsty Joel, sadness and insomnia and possible character death but you didn't hear it from me
Notes: this is my first time writing angst so yeah, hope it's somewhat readable. Also this was inspired after I saw The Lure (10/10 would reccomend) and after hearing Siren Song by Maruv on loop for a couple of days
Gif credit
Read it on A03 [x]
Joel would watch the girl playing in the water all afternoons on his way home from the studio. She had appeared (or at least Joel first acknowledged her presence) a couple of weeks ago.
Plenty were the times he thought of approaching the dock where she was out of curiosity, to get a better look, but he always shook that thought out of his mind and kept on walking, minding his own business.
He felt a little bit like a stalker to be honest, watching her from afar as he passed by, but who wouldn’t? After all, it wasn’t common to find people swimming in that specific part of the bay since there was only a small, abandoned pier, which seemed like it could fall at any time given because of its dilapidated state.
But still, for what Joel could see in the distance, she didn’t seem worried about the possibility of that old structure falling on her or even about the big waves crashing on the rocks. In fact, she seemed extremely relaxed, just floating around and occasionally disappearing under the water.
Joel couldn’t really explain why, but her sight made him feel at ease, even though he could only see her head sticking out the water, and maybe that’s why he kept on choosing that way home every day for the last couple of weeks, even though it took him longer to reach his apartment.
~~~~
It happened one night Joel was battling with insomnia.
He already had gone through not only all the apps on his phone but through all the stats of said apps. And even if he had some news to share, he knew everybody would be asleep and wouldn't answer until the next morning. He groaned and threw his phone away, closing once again his eyes and trying to get some sleep. But of course it didn’t work out.
After a couple of minutes of tossing and turning around in his bed, Joel got up and began to pace around his apartment, like a wild animal in a cage. Suddenly, he stopped in front of the window. The city lights shined across the city. He followed with his sight the illuminated skyline until he reached the bay where he would walk by everyday after work, and all and every thought that was bothering him got wiped out and only one thought remained. The view of the young girl on the sea, who he had seen again that same afternoon, was all he could think of when looking at that place.
All of a sudden, he started hearing some kind of melody being hummed. Which was odd, since he was alone. The TV was off and his phone was muted, lying in some corner of his room. And it also couldn’t be their neighbours playing music, since as far as he knew, they were away on vacation and there was no one staying in their apartment.
No, the sound seemed to come from outside.
“Well, I must be losing my mind,” he said, talking to his empty flat. He turned around and gazed upon his empty bed, messy sheets as a failed result of trying to fall asleep. Turning around once more, Joel gave another look to the bay, a somber spot in the highly illuminated city. With a tired sigh, Joel grabbed a coat and exited the apartment.
The night was dark and cold. No person in their right mind set would have got out of their house on a night like this. But Joel was far from being an example of that type of person. While his feet were set on going in one specific direction, his mind was all over the place.
The wind was even colder and sharper as he approached the seacoast; Joel could feel it in his face, as if there were tiny daggers cutting through it. But going back to his empty bed was not an option. He knew he wouldn’t be able to get any sleep and being locked in his apartment would make him even more anxious. So he just kept on walking.
Joel stood at the doors of the old pier. A few lampposts were the only source of light though it. Joel couldn't see no one down the poorly illuminated path.
“What am I even doing here?” he thought for himself.
And just as he was about to turn around and leave, he heard the same humming he had heard in his apartment. But this time, it sounded closer and clearer.
Joel squinted his eyes as he tried to see if there was someone on the pier, but the mist and the poor lighting wouldn't let him see beyond the first couple of lampposts.
Joel began to walk across the pier, slowly at first, frightened the putrid wooden boards wouldn’t hold his weight. But it looked like they were pretty strong still, so with more confidence but still carefully, Joel started hurrying his pace across the pier.
“Hello?” he asked in the darkness, waiting for some answer.
He kept walking towards the end of the pier; it seemed that was from where the sound came. As he approached the end, he started to hear words; it was not just someone who was humming a song, someone was actually singing. And Joel could have sworn it was the sweetest voice he had ever heard.
He began to walk even faster, eager to meet the owner of that voice, but reaching the borderline between the pier and the sea, he found no one on sight.
Just before Joel could question his mental state again, a woman’s head emerged from the darkness of the sea. She turned around and smiled at him.
“Hi there,” the mysterious girl said, smirking.
Joel stood on the edge and looked down. The lighting wasn’t good because of the decayed lampposts, but he was able to recognise her. It was the girl he kept seeing all evenings when he got back home.
He could only see her from her shoulders all the way up to the crown of her head. And she was stunning, even though he could barely see her in the dark, misty water. She had long, black hair which seemed to blend in with the water and her features were sharp. Sharp as if you could cut your hand if you touched her.
Joel was truly mesmerised by her presence. He even saw that her skin was kinda glowing, but he thought it might be his tired eyes tricking him.
“Can’t sleep?” she spoke again, still with a smirk on her face.
Joel realized he hadn’t responded to her greeting because of how concentrated he was on the chance of getting a closer look of her. He immediately turned red, not that the girl couldn’t realize giving how dark it was.
“Yeah, just a lot of things going through my head lately,” Joel answered, scratching his head. “What about you? I know this isn’t your first time here,” Joel asked and he immediately face-palmed himself in his mind, realizing how stalkerish that had sounded.
But to his surprise, the girl laughed and Joel swore it was the most charming laugh he ever heard.
“Good eye! You’re right, this isn’t my first time here,” she said as she twirled around, her dark hair wrapping her shoulders.
She came closer and Joel noticed her eyes, black and brilliant as the night.
“And I have seen you walking pass here,” she winked at Joel and, once more, started to hum the same song Joel had heard before in his apartment. But the song was cut short when she went down the water again. Joel panicked.
“Wait! Don’t go,” Joel kneeled on the wooden planks and looked at the dark water, searching for the mysterious girl.
He was really losing his mind, he had no doubt about it. Freaking out about a crazy girl who was swimming at midnight in the deadly cold waters of the Baltic.
But he couldn’t leave. He wouldn’t stand up. There was something about her that made him stay right where he was.
He saw a silver reflection under the water, as if some kind of fish were swimming around. He stretched out his hand towards the water, but before his hand could touch the water, the girl emerged again, even closer to him.
Joel quickly retired his hand which made her laugh again. The sound of her laugh made Joel come dangerously close to the edge of the pier. But her voice made Joel wish he could be closer to her. He wished she would talk to him with her soothing voice until he fell asleep.
“Please, sing to me,” Joel blurted out, surprising himself with his request.
“Are you sure you want to hear my song? I’m afraid you will end up asleep…” she said, with a devilish smile, as if she could read Joel’s mind.
“There’s nothing I want more. To be able to sleep.” Joel tiredly sighed, knowing he never said nothing more true than that.
“Even though it would be forever?” she added to her previous warning, and licked her lips.
Joel hesitated for a second, a bit worried about that last statement, but the girl didn’t give him time to change his mind as she started to sing her song, the song to which Joel had begun to succumb to, earlier in his house.
As the young girl kept on singing, she took her hand out of the water and reached out for Joel.
And he grabbed it without a doubt, being way too hypnotised to realise how slippery her hand felt.
Joel also failed to realise the pointy and seemingly sharp teeth the girl’s smile now revealed.
Or the scales covering her arms and shoulders, which were previously hidden by her long hair.
Or the long, moving, silver tail that appeared behind the girl, where her legs should have been.
Or maybe Joel just didn't care to realise these new features. He just wanted to hear how their her song ended.
~~~~
The pier remained dark and covered in even more mist. No noises could be heard but the wind. Not a soul could be seen in that part of town.
So no one could have heard the abrupt, hard sounding noise that interrupted the quiet night.
The sound a body hitting the water would make.

9: Sharing a soft smile across a crowded room (Olli Matela)
Part of the 50 wordless ways to say "I love you" series
Tag list: @warriorteam1924 @slashscowboyboots @losers-yurio @lost-in-the-80s @teasid @lucyboytom @blood-on-blood @halloween-chick-in-love-with-cas @jennyggggrrr @tuffduff @jonesyownsmyheart @rhyetaylor62 @died-enough-for-you @ayablackwood @the-killer-queenie @dumbass-of-darkness @samiyaffaslover @disrespectfullcalum @kyrju @d-ellie-tw @sweetnightosphere @whoreforblindchannel @kellyrosie
Shortly after the boys had come home from Rotterdam, they had a press conference and despite not having slept for two days, they stayed professional and replied to the questions accordingly without only giving short answers like 'yes' or 'no'.
You were standing in the back of the room, watching your boyfriend and his band being interviewed. You thought about how hard he had been working to achieve this and feeling extremely proud of him - as well as the rest of the guys, of course. In the eight years they had been together, they had become fairly successful here and had toured with popular bands, but it was only now that they were getting famous outside of Finland too. They certainly deserved this, especially since they had been worried about being known as 'that Eurovision band' and ruining their career to the point Niko contemplated opening a reindeer farm in Lapland if they flopped. All of you were more than happy to see that they were gaining new fans all over Europe and apparently even in other parts of the world.
But most of all, you were happy for Olli. He had only been 16 when the band was formed while most people his age had no idea what they were going to do with their life. You knew how much Blind Channel meant to him and you could tell how relieved he was now. Recently, not even yoga had seemed to help him relax and this rather unexpected success obviously took a load off his mind.
As Aleksi and Olli took a seat, you felt the latter looking over at you and once you made eye contact with him, he gave you a soft smile, which you gladly returned. He looked tired - which was why he was wearing sunglasses - but even completely exhausted, his eyes were full of love.
Suddenly, he pushed his sunglasses down and turned his head when a reporter asked the first question. You really hoped he knew how proud you were of him.

Coming Home
Pairing: Tommi Lalli x reader
Requested by @kellyrosie and anons
Summary: Tommi comes home from tour and makes up for the time he was away.
Tags: fluff
Words: 671
A/N: First time writing for Tommi!! Sorry it's so short again. Also, I took inspiration from an ask @thetimecrystal sent once because it was too fitting 🥺
Tag list: @warriorteam1924 @slashscowboyboots @losers-yurio @lost-in-the-80s @teasid @lucyboytom @blood-on-blood @halloween-chick-in-love-with-cas @jennyggggrrr @tuffduff @jonesyownsmyheart @rhyetaylor62 @died-enough-for-you @ayablackwood @the-killer-queenie @dumbass-of-darkness @samiyaffaslover @disrespectfullcalum @kyrju @d-ellie-tw @sweetnightowl @whoreforblindchannel
Since Tommi had left for the EU tour, you hadn't seen him more than twice a week and even then, it was just video calls, which couldn't compare to being cuddled up together at home and listening to him ramble about whatever was on his mind. Still, it was better than not hearing from him at all. Besides, he texted you every day, even when he had no time or was too tired to call you. Although he was only going to be away for a month, you already missed him an hour after you had dropped him off at the airport.
Time passed slowly until the day that Tommi would return finally arrived. You hadn't planned anything big for today because you knew he'd be exhausted and could really need some rest.
You were in the kitchen, taking the cookies out of the oven when the front door opened, followed by the sound of bags hitting the floor. Once you put the baking sheet on the countertop, you rushed into the hallway to jump into Tommi's arms, hugging him tightly. "I missed you," you mumbled into his chest.
"I missed you too, darling. I wish you could have been with us," he said, beginning to tell you about everything he hadn't included in your last calls. He followed you into the kitchen as he talked, helping you put the cookies on a plate and complimenting you on your baking after taking a bite.
The two of you made your way to the living room and you sat next to him on the couch, your legs on his lap. Shortly after finishing his story about Joonas getting lost in Germany again, he yawned. You ran your fingers through his hair and kissed his cheek. "Do you want to take a nap? I know you must be exhausted."
He immediately shook his head. "No, I don't want to sleep all day when you haven't seen me in so long," he explained. "I'm fine, it's just been a long day. Last night's show ended later than expected, we had to check out of the hotel early this morning, get on the plane and drive home from the airport."
"Well, if you say so…" you gave in. "But don't feel pressured to stay awake, I didn't have any plans for today anyway."
"Hey, do you want to see some videos from our gigs?" he asked, his eyes lighting up as he took his phone out.
You smiled, realizing how much you had missed seeing him in person, and scooted a little closer to him, leaning your head against his shoulder. Tommi gave you a smile and scrolled through his camera roll before turning his phone to show you a video of his drum solo Santeri had recorded from the side of the stage. Moments like this reminded you of how proud you were of him and how far he had come. From small gigs in Oulu to sold out international tours.
He showed you some more snippets before continuing to tell you stories about what stupid things had happened on the road and while you rolled your eyes at certain incidents and were glad you didn't have to witness that, you secretly wished you could have joined them because you loved hanging out with the boys, but work always got in the way.
Later you were watching his favorite movie together. You were sitting between Tommi's legs, his arms wrapped around you and his head resting on your shoulder. Usually, you would use him as a life size teddy bear, but now the tables turned and he used you as a teddy bear for a change. After a while, he was exceptionally quiet and you noticed that his eyes were closed.
You switched off the TV, stroking the back of his hand and suggesting softly, "Let's take a nap."
Tommi nodded sleepily and lay back on the couch, holding you close as you laid on top of him with your head on his chest.

Good Impression (Tommi Lalli x reader)
Inspired by this video and by suggestions of a couple of anons, I presented you all this Tommi/reader fic
Words: 1438
English is not my native language so sorry for the mistakes/typos you might found.
Note: for the sake of the story, let’s pretend Tommi lives in Helsinki and not in Oulu.
Hope y'all enjoy it!☺️
Tommi’s parents have invited you to spend the weekend at their house since it was going to be Tommi’s grandma's birthday and there would be a family reunion to celebrate it back in Oulu.
You hadn’t really ever left Helsinki or its surroundings, your work and studies tying you to the capital, so you were pretty excited to have this mini road trip all the way up to Tommi’s natal city and to get to know his family. It wasn’t exactly a “meet the parents” situation, since you’ve already met them one time when they were in the city visiting Tommi. So you weren’t extremely nervous although the usual bad scenarios popped up in your mind from time to time.
The night before leaving, you were sitting on the floor of your shared bedroom, still trying to pack your bag. Tommi was on his phone, already laying in bed, since you planned on leaving early in the morning.
“Babe, which blouse should I take, this green one or the black one?” you asked, showing both options to him.
“I’d much prefer you without one,” Tommi said without looking up from his phone.
“Always the tease,” you said as you decided on one of them and put it on your bag.
“Remember it’s only a weekend though and it won’t be that fancy of an event…”
“I know, but I just want to make sure I leave a good impression,” you replied as you closed your bag, deciding you already had everything you’ll need for the weekend.
Having finished packing, you crawled into bed next to Tommi, who left his phone on the nightstand and wrapped his arm around you.
“There’s no way you won’t be leaving nothing but a good impression, prinsessa” Tommi whispered in your ear as you drifted off to sleep.
The next morning, you woke up to an empty space next to you and to sounds coming from the kitchen. Someone was not wasting any time. After having some quick breakfast Tommi had prepared and loading your bags in the trunk of the car, you were ready to leave.
“Ready kulta?” Tommi asked as he put his sunglasses on.
“Ready Tommi-bear.” you answered as you opened the music app on your phone. You have spent the week prior crafting a playlist to blast through the road trip. It had some of yours and Tommi’s favourite songs plus some duet worthy songs, since you weren’t oblivious of the fact that Tommi had a beautiful voice. So of course you didn’t waste any chance you got of hearing it.
“Ok, here we go,” he said as you pressed shuffle on the playlist.
The first song that came through the car’s speakers was Dancing Queen by ABBA. Tommi chuckled. “I thought you made the playlist, not Aleksi,” he ironically said, commenting on how the dark haired DJ plays that song on concerts, soundchecks and pretty much whenever he gets the chance.
“Hey, it’s a good song.” you said and started singing along. Tommi smiled and eventually joined in.
After a couple of duets passed by, you suddenly shut up, leaving Tommi singing on his own. He didn’t realise it wasn’t a duet anymore until a couple of minutes later, when he turned his sight from the road to you, who were softly smiling at him.
“What?” Tommi asked, and you could swear he slightly blushed.
“You should sing more often, you know?”
“Oh shut up,”
“I really mean it! Maybe I should text Niko or Joel…”
You told him how his voice was really lovely and soothing but he just brushed it off, although you could see a little smirk growing on his face.
The ride went really well and smoothly. You both chatted about everything and nothing, music playing on the back as you made sure to get some chill songs besides the karaoke worthy ones.
Since Tommi had made the road countless times, mostly because of Blind Channel gigs, he recounted some funny stories with the boys as some places you were driving though made him remember about them. Of course, the anecdotes were nothing but pure Blind Channel chaos which had you laughing up to the point of crying.
Speaking of Blind Channel, you had thrown into the mix one or two of their songs so when they came into the shuffle, you headbanged like there wasn’t a tomorrow and randomly played air drums, trying to copy Tommi’s moves when on stage, which made him laugh out loud.
“Maybe I could give you some drum lessons when we go back,” he said while tapping his fingers to the beat of the song.
You bit your lip. The image of you sitting on his lap while giving you drum lessons presented you with thousands of thoughts that you decided to keep for yourself, at least until you got back to your apartment back in Helsinki.
As you were getting closer to Oulu, you asked Tommi who he thought would be at his grandma’s party. Tommi started listing an incredible number of people, describing them and telling how they were related. Basically giving you a sort of brief of his family. But as the list grew, your nerves too started to rise up.
You passed through a sign telling you were now entering Oulu and you became quieter and started mindlessly tapping your foot. Tommi noticed the sudden change of the atmosphere.
“Hey, you’re gonna make a hole on the car’s floor if you keep with the tapping,” he said, trying to bring up the lively spirit again.
You giggle and stop with the tapping, but remained silent while looking at the passing scenery through the window.
“Nervous?” Tommi asked.
“Yeah, I guess... I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’m really excited to meet your family but at the same time there’s this voice in my head sort of panicking and questioning ``what if they don’t like me?´´” you confessed to him.
“Well, then I guess I’ll have to cut ties with them if they don’t like you,” he replied with a straight face.
You gave Tommi a playful punch on his arm.
“No, but in all seriousness, I can’t think of a simple reason they won’t like you. You know, I haven’t told you this but my parents didn’t do anything but praise you after meeting you. And I’m sure they already passed on their stamp of approval to the rest of the family,” he reassured you.
Tommi’s words comforted you and made you relax a little. You turned up the music and tried to enjoy the last couple of kilometres you got left of the trip.
You finally arrived at Tommi’s parents house, who were waiting for you on the porch. They greeted you both and asked how the trip was. But before you could answer, an old lady came out of the house, calling Tommi’s name. It was his grandmother. You recognized her from some family photos Tommi had shown you ahead of the trip. She made her way up to where you were all standing and you couldn’t help but melt at the sight of the height difference between her and Tommi when she went for a hug.
“So you’re the young lady that stole my Tommi,” the woman said as she turned around to look at you. You gulped, not sure if she was being serious or just messing with you. She must have seen the panic in your face as she clarified with a laugh, “I’m only joking. For what I see, he’s actually the lucky one,” she said with a warm smile. You blushed at the woman’s words and thanked her while allowing yourself to loosen up a little.
Tommi’s mum invited you to come into the house, since she had prepared something for both of you to eat after the long journey. As Tommi took out your bags from the car, the old lady intertwined her arm with yours and slowly began walking towards the house.
“Now, we have many things to chat about that grandson of mine. Like, have you noticed his nose…” she started saying, lowering her voice as if it were a confidence only you were allowed to hear.
“Ei, mummo, not again…” Tommi groaned, interrupting her while escorting both of you on the way into the house.
You just giggled and continued to listen to the old lady’s complaints of his grandson's features. You might disagree with her on that but as you start approaching the house, you started to feel at ease and though to yourself that it will be a fun weekend.
Ei, mummo = No, grandma (thanks duolingo)
yeah, sorry if the end sucked but I really wanted to make the reference to the q&a video.

dad!Blind Channel helping their child with homework
um yeah, I'm still stuck with the dad AU brainrot so here's how I think each guy would react if their child asks for help with their Maths homework (or any homework...I just really hate Maths)
Olli: “let me get my adult juice” *proceeds to pour himself a glass of wine* “ok, let’s see...”
Tommi: he‘d explain everything, even the stuff he doesn't know but his voice and tone makes it so believable, he ends up getting in trouble with the teacher because now his child refuses to believe his dad was wrong.
Joonas: the poor guy tries but his child ends up explaining the subject/homework to him.
Niko: he tries to help them but ends up asking if they wanna go do something more fun, like going out to the park and getting ice cream or hitting up the studio with him.
Joel: tries to explain but ends up ranting about the education system (honestly same)
Aleksi: he would try and help the most he can, searching for Youtube videos explaining the subject, browsing for information though forums and basically googling everything he can.

aka the one that started all of this
Baby's first word (dad!Joonas)
Hey! It finally happened; I wrote my first fic ever. I know, I'm shook too. The things Blind Channel are making me do🥴
I really want to thank @poodlejoonas 💜 (the culprit xP) for not only letting me run with her AU but also for being a total angel and proof reading, making corrections and suggesting ideas. I'm linking both of her fics incluiding dad!Joonas but all of her fics are totally worthy and so extraordinarily written: poodlejoonas's dad!Joonas fic (aka the fic that started all) // the BC guys as uncles
Hope y'all enjoy it!☺️
After one year and a half without shows, the world slowly started to open up which meant Blind Channel managed to get new gigs in what seemed like forever. Everyone was thrilled at the idea of playing shows again like before the pandemic hit. Sure, UMK and Eurovision were amazing experiences but playing multiple times and only one song couldn't beat the adrenaline of performing a proper setlist in front of a real crowd jumping and singing along.
To say that Joonas was really excited wasn’t enough. His time was split between rehearsals with the band and spending time with you and Sohvi at your home. As perfectionist as the boys were, they even had to encourage Joonas to leave some rehearsals earlier so he could spend some well-deserved time with his daughter. But even at your home, Joonas would keep practicing (not that you would complain, since you love hearing him play and sing) giving mini acoustic shows to a starstruck Sohvi, who would watch his dad with loving eyes and sloppily clap when the songs ended.
Of course, the thought of bringing you and his little daughter to one of the shows crossed his mind, but both of you decided to wait a little more before taking young Sohvi to one of the band's concerts.
Despite only being away for a weekend, Joonas left you both with him promising he’d try not to go off the rails, to which you laughed and reassured him not to worry as long as he found his way home.
Joonas had to leave really early in the morning. You weren’t even up yet but felt his kiss on your cheek. You also heard him making a stop at your daughter’s room to say his goodbye to an asleep Sohvi.
At around the time Joonas would come home from the studio, you heard Sohvi babbling in the living room. Since she couldn’t talk yet, she motioned towards Joonas’s guitar he kept in the corner of the room, which you took as her way of questioning where her father was. “Clever girl,” you said as you picked her up. “Daddy is playing songs like when he plays it for you before bedtime, but this time for thousands of people.'' You knew she couldn’t yet understand her father’s profession but she made happy noises, which you took as a sign of understanding. "Such a good girl," you said as you bopped her nose. “We can go to the park and then we can call daddy, okay?” you proposed, which was met with even more cheerful noises.
Joonas came back late at night. You were taking a shower when you heard the rattle of keys and the front door being open. Joonas was finally home, and he left his guitar and bag against the wall. He heard the shower, so the first thing he did as soon as he dropped his stuff was check on Sohvi in her bedroom, where she lay asleep in her crib clutching her teddy bear (a present from Uncle Tommi). He tucked her in and gave her a kiss on her forehead. You, having finished your shower, stood against the door frame, adoringly observing the scene. The scene lasted for a moment until Joonas, feeling your presence, turned around with a cheeky smile.
"Enjoying the view?"
"Hey, you rockstar."
Joonas approached you and hungrily kissed you. Breaking off the kiss, you started to close Sohvi's bedroom door, so you could talk without waking her up. Joonas took a last look at the little baby and whispered.
"She's such an angel."
"She really is."
You could tell he was still buzzing with excitement from the weekend he just had. He seemed really excited to talk about the show and how good it felt to play live again. But as enthusiastic as he looked, he also looked extremely tired, so you immediately demanded him to go to bed and get some rest, promising he could tell you all about it in the morning.
The next day was a day spent with family. The band decided to take a few days before starting new rehearsals and working on the next album. You forced Joonas to stay in bed as you prepared breakfast and brought it to him. After that, both of you spent the morning cuddling, until you heard Sohvi waking up. Joonas finally left bed to greet his little angel. Sohvi was still sleepy but thrilled to see her dad. “Isä on täällä.”* Joonas softly said as she babbled and made grabby hands towards him. He took her out of the crib and carried her to your shared bed. What followed were more cuddles and Joonas’s weekend stories (at least the few “child-appropriate” ones, since Sohvi was present and you know kids are like sponges). He recounted how Olli lost his bass, which made you laugh but also made you both wonder if he still was the best choice for being Sohvi's godfather.
After lunch, Joonas received an email from their photographer with a bunch of videos of the concert, so naturally he had to show them to both of you. He set up his computer in front of the sofa, where you were sitting with Sohvi in your lap, and played the videos. Whenever Joonas was on scene, you’d point at the screen and say, “look Sohvi, that’s daddy right there,” and Joonas’s heart would melt. Sohvi even started to do little jumps and you could swear she was trying to mimic Joonas’s movements he did to hype up the crowd before Dark Side was played. Joonas was so delighted by the scene he took out his phone and started filming the whole situation.
“Look at her, a proper heir of the Porko dynasty.” Joonas joked, though you knew in reality, he was half-serious and wondered how much time would pass until she got any kind of instrument in her hands, either a present from Joonas or from any of her uncles.
But none of you were prepared to hear your baby saying her first word when Joonas’s solo came up: “isä.” She said “daddy” in her father’s native Finnish. Both you and Joonas froze and looked at each other with teary eyes as you both processed the moment. Joonas interrupted in cheers as he picked her up and kissed her cheek, his blonde curly hair getting in her face and making her laugh. You quickly grabbed Joonas’s phone from his hand, since it almost flew away as he spun Sohvi around and kept recording the tender moment.
"I have to tell the boys. They were sure her first word was going to be Porko. Joel even bet on it."
"Oh that explains their insistence on saying Porko even though you weren’t in the room but Sohvi was…”
*Isä on täällä = Daddy's here (according to google translator, so @ Finns feel free to correct me pls)
