Rating the Celestial Beings from LMK Based on How They’d Babysit Your Kid

Fandom: Lego Monkie Kid

Characters: Monkey King, Nezha, and Chang’e

TW: nothing but fluff! ☁️

Genre: Implied platonic relationships 

Extra: I’ve been most excited for this list since it has some of the most iconic characters in the show. But small problem… I haven’t seen season 4 yet… so that means Nezha and Chang’e might not be totally accurate since I haven’t seen if they get more characterization in season 4. Hopefully that isn’t an issue! Anyways let’s continue with the list down below ⬇️

Monkey King:

Monkey King would be happy to help you out by babysitting, and also SUPER overconfident. After all, what kid wouldn’t want to hang out with the legendary Sun Wukong? 🤩 

He’d also be a little bit nervous, but either he’d be too prideful to show it or more self assured than nervous. It all depends on the situation.

You’d have to drop your kid off at Flower Fruit Mountain, which would be hard to get to… and even if he met you somewhere and took your kid to Flower Fruit Mountain himself, you’d still have to go pick them up.

If your kid does somehow make it through the trip to Flower Fruit Mountain they’ll have a multitude of places to play. After all, it’s a big island with a lot of cool locations to explore!

Monkey King has only two types of food on the island. Peaches, and peach chips. Hopefully your kid likes those-

Despite being irresponsible at times, your kid will be 100% safe due to Wukongs powers.

Wukong is such an attention seeker, but because of this he’d be great at entertaining your kid! He could show them some basic training moves, let them explore the island, play with them using his powers, and so much more. (Anything to make them think he’s just the coolest dude ever)

I get the impression that he would interact with your kid the same way he interacts with MK. Lazy, teasing, warm and protective. 

I can’t see why he wouldn’t be a good babysitter in all honesty. He has a personality kids would be drawn to, and literally nothing would be able to harm your kid when they’re with Monkey King. And he lives in such a cool place! I refuse to believe your kid would be bored with all the animals and hidden temple stuff. My only complaints are about the transportation and food situation… how do you plan to drop off or pick up your kid? I mean I’m sure you could find some work arounds, but it sounds like such a hassle. And we’ve only ever seen Wukong eat peaches and peach flavored chips while on the island, which leads me to believe there isn’t much else there to eat. But you could argue we only see him eating the same type of food because he’s a picky eater, and that there’s other type of food elsewhere on the island, so I’m not deducting too many points for that. Overall he’s getting a 8.6/10!

Nezha:

I’ve been doing some research on the lmk characters recently, mainly the celestial beings, to understand the Journey to the West better. While digging around I learned that in China it’s commonly believed that Nezha was a patron god to children and teenagers. No wonder he’s so patient with MK! I think it’s safe to say he knows how to deal with kids

You won’t have to worry about Nezha slacking off, if anything he’d take his job SUPER seriously. 

Though, I can see this being a problem for some kids considering children usually hate serious adults.

He’ll have to take your kid out to town since taking kids to heaven to hang out is probably a no go. 

I’m not sure how well versed Nezha is in the modern world, so he might need some help figuring out certain things. Which, let’s all be honest, would make for a hilarious comic! Wouldn’t you agree Tumblr Artists? Hint hint wink wink 

Based on his mythology, I can totally see him having a soft spot for kids. Nezha would probably give even the most rebellious kids the benefit of the doubt because, in his eyes, they still have a lot of growing up to do. 

If they’re fans of Monkey King he’s going to be so mad XD 

He probably won’t have much of a plan for the babysitting session, and will rely on your kid to decide what they want to do (though, their options might be limited if you don’t give Nezha some money)

If Nezha is in a good mood, and if your kid is convincing enough, he might even show off his awesome fire wheels. Don’t worry, he’ll be sure to take them a safe distance away from the city

Nezha is amazing, and he totally has this in the bag! He’s got his mythology, patience, and powers working in his favor. He might be a bit out of touch with the modern human world, and some kids might hate him for being super serious, but both of these things are fairly navigable. As long as you give them enough money for lunch, everything will be fine. That being said, because of his limited knowledge and his unlikeliness to his powers if he deems it too risky, most kids might find him a bit boring… I’m going to have to deduct some points for that sadly TvT. 8.6/10! 🩷 

Chang’e

I feel like Chang’e would be SUPER excited to babysit, but I’m just guessing based off of her overall cheerful attitude.

Unlike Nezha and Wukong, Chang’e would be able to babysit your kid at her place or out on the town. This is because she probably knows at least a little about mortal customs considering she has a phone (which is good considering not many people can go to the FLIPPING MOON)

If she babysat at her place she could teach your kid some new recipes, show them her bunny robots, and so much more!

Because she has a phone an a TV show, I’d say she’s fairly adapt with how the human world works. She’d have no trouble fitting in with mortals if you’d prefer her babysitting on earth

Chang’e totally packed homemade lunches that are both nutritious and delicious. She’d also bring at least one sweet snack for later on as a reward of sorts.

Chang’e has shown that she’s willing to hear people despite misunderstandings or previous mistakes, which is an incredibly useful talent when dealing with kids.

Honestly? She hasn’t been in enough episodes for there to be any MAJOR negatives I can call out. In fact, she seems perfect! Unlike the others on this list, she can be flexible with where she babysits. And she has a naturally cheerful demeanor, which most kids would absolutely adore. Also there’s no way your kid is going hungry! Because of this I am happy to say that Chang’e, the underrated queen, is the second character in this series to get a 10/10! WOOOHOOO 👑🍜

✨ Outfit Challenge ✨ [Day 1] [Nezha from LMK]

I’ve decided I desperately need to get better at art, and in order to improve I need practice! So if you have any critiques please feel free to share them. Oh! And if you have any suggestions for who I should draw for the Formal/Date category I’d love to hear them. They can be from a video game, anime, cartoon, movie, or book! As long as it’s not someone from live action media. Once you have a character in mind comment their name along with the title of the game/show/book they’re from.

How the Season 3 Antagonists from LMK Would Babysit Your Kid

Fandom: Lego Monkie Kid

Characters: Lady Bone Demon, Mystic Mayor, and Macaque

TW: unless you think scary skeleton shadow people need a trigger warning, there’s nothing but fluff here

(The list of characters this time is short, so sorry bout that! I also plan to do the celestial beings from the show next, but it’ll probably take a while so I appreciate everyone’s patience. Oh also! I’ve come to the horrific realization that these three characters don’t have a catchy group name! This must be fixed, stat! If anyone has any ideas or already knows of a group name for this trio, please let me know. Personally, I think they should be known as the ✨ Theater Kids ✨. Now that that’s out of the way please continue on reading)

Lady Bone Demon:

You’re really going to have to use your imagination for this one, because I have no clue why she’d help babysit anyone. Maybe it’s because she wants you to trust her so she can use you or something? Idk, just be creative! I believe in you 🤗

Even if LBD hated your kid she’d be determined to take care of them. If she needed to she’d just pull out her good ol’ acting skills and suffer through it silently. Especially if she’d benefit from this whole babysitting gig.

She would also be GREAT at guilt tripping people into behaving, no matter who she was talking to. All she needs is time to figure out their weakness…

Unless she’s babysitting at your house she’ll be taking your kiddo out on the town. After all, it’s not like she has a home of own to take them to (minus Spider Queen’s cave and her super secret robot hideout)

LBD probably wants to make a good impression because she needs allies, so she lets the kid take the lead for the most part. Want to eat? Well then let’s eat. Want to draw? I’ll find some crayons if you’d like. Don’t get me wrong, she isn’t a pushover. If she really needs to she’ll offer some wise words of wisdom or something to keep your kid in line. And if that doesn’t work then manipulation tactics here we come!

Despite being a villain she has noble intentions, which is why I think she’d like kids to some extent

Minus the evil plans and her controlling tendencies, she gives off a nurturing mom vibes. I’d understand if most kids latch onto that side of her

On the surface it seems like she’d do a great job, after all she wants what’s best for everyone and wouldn’t let your kiddo get away with anything they want. She’d be firm, yet kind! But if we start looking closely at her less than positive traits, you can see why she shouldn’t be around kids… she’s manipulative and controlling, which could be seen as being potential trauma inducing behaviors. I doubt she’d use these skills of hers if it wasn’t necessary, and that if she used them only once it wouldn’t leave a lasting impact on the kid, but it’s a risk I personally wouldn’t take. 6.8/10! (Also if your kid becomes a favorite of hers she’ll be sure to eliminate them first to spare them from the worlds cruelty. What a sweetheart?)

Mystic Mayor:

Unlike LBD, I can understand why he’d pick up a babysitting job. In the start of the series he was trying to appear normal after all! (But failing miserably) He probably wouldn’t even realize that it’s odd for the MAYOR of the city to have enough free time to babysit kids. 

Mr. Mayor is chaos incarnate, but I can’t really see him hating kids! He’d probably get a kick out of them doing dumb or crazy stuff.

If you leave him specific guidelines to follow he’ll do everything you want him to do with a smile on his face. And if you don’t? Well he certainly isn’t stopping your kid from doing dangerous stuff because, like I said before, he’d get a kick out of it. He also would have a hard time understanding what kids aren’t allowed to do considering he’s barely grasped mortal customs.

Since the Mayor wouldn’t really know where to go, or even have a preference for that matter, he’d let your kid choose a place to hang.

Your kid will either love him for his sadistic personality, or they’ll be freaked out. Yeah he’s fun, but I can understand why some kids would be absolutely terrified of him. He gives off, “I’m smiling because I’m imagining killing everyone in this room” vibes. 

On the flip side, I can also see some kids interpreting his actions as silly. They might just see him as a super happy guy! Who jokes about murder…! And never frowns… yep just totally normal human behavior :D

I love the Mayor so friggin much that it hurts me to give him a 6.3/10. But he’s just too much of a wild card! He is constantly saying creepy things without even batting an eye, which is funny until you realize he’s being 100% serious. Also, if I left my kid with him I’d always be slightly worried he’d let them do something crazy without realizing that kids are very breakable. His smiley persona makes up for some of the negatives though. 😁💙

Macaque:

Macaque has the most trauma here, don’t lie to me. BUT despite this he’ll probably be the best person to babysit compared to everyone on this list.

He’d be flattered that you trust him with something as precious as your kids, but he’s also worried he’ll screw something up. Obviously he doesn’t admit this to your face, but you can kinda tell by how much he keeps double checking to see if you’re positive this is a good idea

I’d argue that Macaque has a good track record with kids. He was a good mentor to MK before he betrayed him, and he also prioritized Bai He’s safety once LBD left her body. I mean he didn’t really seem to care that LBD was possessing Bai He at the start of the season but it’s fiiiiiine! He was busy trying not to die after all!

He also used to put up with Wukong’s madness, so it’s safe to say he’d know how to deal with energetic kids

Macaque has a dojo and a cave to babysit at, and that’s not even counting the place where he was putting on shadow plays! Point is him and your kid will have plenty of places to hang out at, which is good because Macaque wouldn’t want to be out in public for very long

As fatherly caring as he is, I don’t think he’d really know what to do to entertain the kid. He’d probably think your kid wouldn’t be very interested in shadow plays or training. Because of this he’d let them guide the activities

If your kid does end up showing an interest in theater or fighting, he’s going to be THRILLED. He wouldn’t show it, but he’d be really excited. Macaque would take this as an opportunity to show off his shadow magic, scripts, and fighting tactics. And hey, if it’s a good day for it he might even teach them something cool! 

As long as you’re not an enemy of his your kid is in great hands. He might act like he doesn’t care but we all know he does, and as an added bonus he’s just fun to talk to! He does a lot of teasing, but I don’t think most kids would mind it all that much. And even if your kid isn’t interested in his hobbies, they’ll still have a good time with him. I’m sure they’d figure out something to do together.

Guys I think… I think I’m going to give him a perfect score?! I want to give him a 10/10 so badly but I just know someone’s going to remind me of something that will bump his score down… whatever, it’s my rating system! MACAQUE GETS. A 10/10! Congratulations Macaque, your the first character to get a perfect score!

About your babysitting post, I would like to challenge MK's rating. In the episode Minor Scale, he displays Big Brother mode to LBD, who he assumes is a frightened child. He's good with kids. Yes there's the issues of demons attacking but, still. He's good with kids. At least 8/10

Oh my god I completely forgot about that! That was really sweet of MK, and it did show how he might act with other kids. Only problem is we don’t see him actually take care of kid LBD. I would argue that comforting words don’t equal being a good caretaker. But still, you’re completely right when you said he put on his big brother mode. Because of this I’m bumping up my review from a 6.8 to a 7.5!

(Also can we just talk about how nice he was trying to be in that episode? And then LBD just HAD to ruin it! smh…)

How the Main Characters of LMK Would Babysit Your Kid

Fandom: Lego Monkie Kid

Characters: MK, Mei, Sandy, Tang, & Pigsy

Hello there new people! Yes yes, welcome to my first post on Tumblr. These are just some personal head cannons of mine, so if you have any critiques or questions please ask me about them in the comments. I also plan to do this for the side characters and antagonists of the show, so be on the lookout for that! Now let’s get this show on the road 🚗💨

MK:

With all due respect, why would you let him babysit your kid?! He’s the main protagonist! Something bad is bound to happen, no matter how good of a job he does

Ok but in all seriousness he’s probably going to take his job super seriously. So seriously, in fact, that he’ll swear off any crazy adventures for the day I doubt that’ll stop the antagonists from messing with him though

Knowing MK he’ll get slightly freaked out by the notion of letting you down

When you finally drop your kid off MK has already set aside some crayons and paper on the counter

They both do some doodling, order some noodles, and talk about how cool Monkey king is

If it’s a good day for it then MK might even take the kid to visit Monkey King! He’s got good connections man 

Mk gets distracted super easily so he definitely lost the kid at LEAST once

Overall I’d rate him a 6.8/10. He has an energetic and lovable personality, and he will definitely will give it his all. That being said he can’t focus to save his life. And he’s the main protagonist. So there’s a 50/50 chance that he’ll end up taking the kid on some wacky adventure of his on accident 

Mei:

Yes this is definitely a good idea. The hyper green skittle themed teen with parent issues will totally make a good babysitter! What? No of course I’m not being sarcastic! Whatever gave you that idea? 🤭

Mei probably volunteered for the job because she likes your kid, after all she definitely isn’t in need of any money 

You’ll have to drop your kid off at Pigsy’s Noodles since Mei wouldn’t want the kid to break anything at her parents place

She doesn’t really have a plan for the day, so they start off the babysitting session playing Monkey Mech, the arcade machine game in front of Pigsy’s noodles

Mei definitely offered to take the kid on a ride on her motorcycle. But don’t worry! I’m sure she had an extra helmet! Heh…

Ok let’s be honest, Mei gave your kid a crap ton of sugar. Like your kid is gonna need to brush their teeth at least three times before going to bed-

Luckily your kid ends up running all of the sugar out of their system before you pick them up thanks to Mei’s liveliness

No way your kids going to be bored. After all, Mei is super energetic and basically radiates cool older sister energy! But there are some negatives, especially because she does less then… responsible things at times. (Like letting a kid ride a motorcycle) she means well! She just doesn’t want to be as boring as her parents were. I’d give her a solid 6/10

Sandy:

Sandy couldn’t be happier that you chose HIM of all people to babysit your precious little angel. 

This overgrown Smurf already bought a ton of stuff for your kid to use while at his place, even though they’re only going to be there for a couple of hours

You’ll have to drop your kid off at Sandy’s houseboat for babysitting time

If your kid is allergic to cats then your out of luck, because he has 28 cats besides Mo. (and yes… this is canon…) BUT if your kid loves cats they’ll practically be in heaven. Especially since they’re all technically therapy cats, so they’re bound to be nice! Heh- Right?

This man has the best type of snacks for your kid, a mixture of salty and savory stuff! And if you want him to he can also pull out some tea for the kid. No one’s going home hungry today. No one.

If Sandy ever got distracted Mo would be there to make sure your kid wouldn’t do anything dangerous

Since Sandy’s house radiates calm energy there’s a good chance that they end up falling asleep on his couch at some point

Sandy is a literal icon. He has so many activities for them to do, like painting, yoga, and crafts. (And don’t pretend like he wouldn’t play all game they asked him to play) He also has delicious food that’s healthy, and he has cats! But for some kids that’s just not their cup of tea, hence why I’m not giving him a perfect score. After all, kids can be absolute menaces when cooped up in one place for a long period of time. Therefore I’m giving papa Smurf here an 9.5/10!

Tang:

Just to be clear Tang ain’t doing this for free. He’s either asking for some moola, sacred texts, or ramen. Tsk tsk, Tang is so greedy 😔 

Tang has so much experience dealing with MK, so he totally knows what type of stories your kid would love. Most of them are probably going to be about past legends and what-not

If he’s in a generous mood he might take your kid to see a museum! If your kid isn’t into that sort of stuff then he’ll consider some other fun activities. This could be exploring the town, visiting a library, things like that

Tang would totally take your kid out for some Pigsy’s Noodles when they got hungry, and he might even teach them a few tactics that’ll help them get some free food… (Pigsy would be LIVID)

If your kid is a bookworm Tang might share a few of his favorite books. And if he likes the kid enough he might even let them borrow the books until the next babysitting session

Tang is a simple man with simple needs, unlike most kids. He’s a bookworm who has a cool kid complex, clearly the most normal out of everyone in the gang. Because of this, your kid will be completely out of harms way! But that doesn’t change the fact that he might appear a bit boring… at least in the beginning of the babysitting session. But I have no doubt that as time goes on your kid will grow to appreciate his swindling ways and his logical thought processes! After all, MK practically idolizes him, and he’s practically just a kid in a teenagers body. That being said it’ll definitely cost you some pocket change to hire him. Anyways, Tang is getting a 7.5/10 from me!

Pigsy:

Pigsy probably has the most experience with kids out of anyone in the gang since he basically raised MK

I imagine Pigsy wouldn’t want to take a day off to babysit, and so he’d probably get MK to help work in the kitchen so he can focus on your kid without getting too distracted. And if MK is busy he’ll just ask someone else in the gang! Though, he probably won’t be happy about it-

After you drop your kid off at Pigsy’s restaurant he’ll have two options for them to choose from: Help out in the kitchen or hang out at a table

If your kid wants to help in the back he’ll teach them all the basics of noodle making! But if your kid is a slow learner he’ll probably just give ‘em some dough to play with while he works.

If your kid just wants to hang out at a table, Pigsy will bring them some of MK’s crayons and let them do some drawing. Don’t worry, he’ll occasionally peek out of the kitchen to check on them

Pigsy is kind but stern, so your kid should be prepared to get yelled at lectured at least once 😅 (I’m kidding ofc, I don’t think he’d really yell unless he was in a panic or REALLY upset. Something tells me he has a soft spot for kids)

Whoever is helping him work would also get to hang out with your kid during their breaks, so it’s like 2 babysitters for the cost of 1!

I love Pigsy, and I’m sure other people do as well! He has experience and is fairly responsible, he definitely wouldn’t let your kid get away with doing something bad. He can be tense at times, so if your kid is sensitive he might not be the best babysitter for them. But I’d like to point out HE DEFINITELY HAS A SOFT SPOT FOR KIDS which means he might be nicer than normal. Because of this I’m rating his babysitting services an 8/10!
