AU MEME - Ned is brought in to bring Will back to life as a favor to the FBI

It was always two touches. One to bring them back, a pause to get an answer, and then the second and final to put them back how they were. He wasn’t supposed to keep anyone alive, wasn’t supposed to interfere with the design of the universe. 

So when the FBI called him in for just the first touch, he couldn’t help but wonder what made this person - this Will Graham - so special. 

But where the pie maker could provide the who in cases, Will could provide the why. They were like two sides to the same coin and it didn’t take long for Ned to figure out what made Will so special. He only had to be around him for a short time before feeling the pull to Will that he was sure so many others felt, knew they did from the way they looked at Will, a reflection of his own expression. The only downside to the discovery was the knowledge that their next touch couldn’t be one of fondness or compassion, but only of finality. Instead of the spark and fire he so longed to share with Will, he would only ever end up putting the light out permanently, before it even had a chance to get started.
