âOk, someone needs to take a blue pill and relax. And whats with the overuse of the âFâ word, are we back in high school?â Sheesh, Jade wondered what this ladyâs problem was, but frankly she didnât have the time nor care to find out. She needed to call some people she knew could tend a bar. âListen, I live on the opposite side of town to this place. And if Iâm naked, which I was, then I wonât be rushing to come to the aid of a Goverment run building. Besides, I checked the cameras as the alarm went off, it was just some animal knocking over a few bins out back. So if youâll excuse me, I have work to do.â Jade wasnât going to be spoken to by some jumped up guard like that. She made a move to step around the other woman.
âI donât care if you checked the cameraâs and it was just an animal. The noise is still a nuisance and it disturbs other residents. Your job is to get here as soon as possible when that alarm goes off, not when it suits you.â She fought the eye roll that almost came out when the other spoke of being back in high school just because of the swearing. âConsider this a warning.â Fiona practically hissed, side-stepping further out of the womanâs way. She couldnât believe theyâd let a pyro run a bar with all the flammables in there. It was like a firebomb waiting to happen all over again.Â

âNot sure. Guards have their own motives for doing things, donât they?â Ethan didnât know her all that well. Except for how she was when she was drunk. But he didnât trust her. Nor did he trust any of the guards in town. Not even his roommate, Lorelai.Â
âIt was for you, actually.â Ethan said with a smirk as he reached towards the counter and grabbed the beer. âIâm sure youâll drink it if you get desperate enough for another drink.â The corner of his lip quivered slightly and then he took a long gulp of the beer. âNothing. I just seemed to have forgotten how annoying you guards can be.â He licked his lips as his eyes flickered towards Fiona. âAnd donât try to defend yourself. You canât prove me otherwise.â Another swig of his beer and then he nodded. âShots are needed.â He agreed and waved down the bartender again. âSix shots of patron.âÂ
âI was under the impression that everyone had their own motives for doing things, Ethan. Iâm pretty sure you do, too.â Fiona knew he didnât trust her, she wasnât stupid. She didnât trust him either, like she would never fully trust any of the residents. The closest one was Blake, but even then she was a little sceptical unless there were alcohol involved. The guard had good reason though, yet it was a reason she certainly wasnât ready to share with Ethan.Â
âFine, if you want the gin Iâll drink the stuff. Hopefully the vodka outweighs the taste.â Though for now, she was content with her wine. âI wouldnât have thought you could forget something like that so easily.â Fiona was past trying to defend herself and the other guards to Ethan, it was pointless and honestly? She knew that she wasnât great with the residents so not much defending could actually be done. The second the tequila was put down in front of them, Fiona wasted no time in knocking one of the shots back; it was usual for things to be difficult with Ethan, but tonight was certainly pushing it. She washed the patron down with the last of her wine, and glanced at the resident. âGet those drinks and those shots down you so we can go dance.âÂ

âAnimals are better than people. Thatâs just, like, basic science or whatever.â She plopped herself down so she could pet the dog as well. Blake had always loved animalsâa card carrying vegetarian whoâd wanted to be a vet before she realized she couldnât stomach it, etc. etc. etc.âbut after her kids were born, that part of her got even softer. âWhat didnât you see?â
âOh, so youâre denying checking them out?â Fiona asked, brow raised before she let out a soft chuckle. âIâm just saying, you can do better.â Blake seemed to be the exception in Fionaâs dislike of powered people. Probably because sheâd never actually witnessed it in use, so it was easier to try and pretend the female didnât have one. It was easier with alcohol in her system, but she could just about function like a normal person around her without it.

Jade was searching for something in her purse as she walked into her nightclub. While it was technically owned by the Government, she ran the place. She stopped dead upon seeing a pair of shoes before her. âYou do realise this is a nightclub, boo? You canât be here at,â she paused to check her watch, âtwo thirty in the afternoon. Well I guess since youâre here, you can do me a favour. I need someone to man the bar tonight - want the job?â
Fiona folded her arms, eyes narrowing at the female as she finally made her way to the bar. The guard had been waiting what seemed like forever for an employee to turn up after she was sent to find out why the alarm had been going off. âDo I look like I need a fucking job?â She questioned, brow raised at the other. âYour alarmâs been going off for a fucking hour. Next time, someoneâs here within ten minutes or weâll look at finding someone more responsible to take over.â The guard threatened, unsure if she even had the power to do that but the grudge she had against the female was so strong she didnât care.

âSome people are just beyond their own control.â
» ABOUT
NAME: Fiona Drake AGE: Thirty Eight OCCUPATION: Guard TOWN: Grimstone ParkÂ
» HISTORY
As a child, Fiona was always a little wary of others. Her mother and father had a good enough relationship, though hardly perfect. Her older brother picked on her a little, but not severely. There was nothing particularly challenging about her childhood. But something about her made her slightly distrustful. Later in her life, people might suggest that it was preternatural in some way, but that idea made her angrier than anything. When she was a young woman, training in the police academy, she witnessed something awful. She was out to eat with her parents at a restaurant when something that she could only describe as impossible happened, a little girl seemed to have spontaneously combusted. Her parents, both EMTs, rushed to the scene, but Fiona turned the other direction, trying to help people get out.
After the fire department arrived and the smoke cleared, two things became apparent to Fiona: the little girl had survived her spontaneous combustion, and her parents had died in the ensuing fire. Fiona could not understand, let alone explain what happened that night, At the academy, sheâd heard mutterings of a special squadron, in charge of keeping âfreaksâ with âweirdo powersâ in line, or safe. In the aftermath of her parentsâ death, Fiona knew that was where she needed to be. She needed to make sure no one went through what sheâd gone through.
No amount of police-mandated therapy or training changed her views. She signed up to work at Lake Grimstone as soon as she finished the academy. Of course, by that point, sheâd asked so many questions, the government was grateful to have her. As far as Fiona was concerned, though, it was the perfect job. The residents needed her, and people like her, to protect them from themselves and others. And by keeping them at Lake Grimstone, the government was teaching them to control their powers so no one else could get hurt. Everybody wins, or so she likes to believe. Fiona is still quite wary of those with powers, especially when she sees that some of them could do serious harm both intentionally or unintentionally.Â
» CONNECTIONS
NORA KEPLER - To Fiona, Nora seems like her head is screwed on correctly. Sheâs straightforward, honest, and highly capable. She and Fiona get along quite well, as long as Nora keeps the conversation off of the residents.
JADE ROBERTSÂ - Jade is the reason that Fiona lost her parents and the reason she is Lake Grimstone. It might have all been an accident but she still dislikes the girl.Â
SAMMY COOPER - Sammy used their power one time on Fiona by accident and that was enough to make Fiona not trust them. She doesnât dislike Sammy, she would just rather they keep their powers away from her.Â
Fiona Drake is a CLOSED character and is portrayed by Crystal Reed.

Rhea frowned confused at the womanâs words next to her as she took her seat on the bench. âDogs are most definitely very loyalâŠ.but there is that possibility of having that quality in another person too.â Putting her planner back in her bag, the love manipulator turned to look at Fiona and asked, âI didnât know that looking at a manâs attractive behind is a bad thing?â She joked with a smile.
âMaybe, but not here.â Fiona shrugged, though romance wasnât exactly something that occupied her mind. She had no room for that right now. One night stands were just fine to scratch that itch when it was needed. âWell, no, but that manâs behind, yes. Letâs just say his ego is the biggest thing about him, and no level of good ass is worth that.âÂ

âAh. Right.â Ethan snorted and shook his head back and forth. He would only indulge her for so long. And then things got annoying, reminding him exactly why he hated guards so much. Some thought they were better than the residents, otherâs were so frightened of them that stayed away until they had to punish someone, and some just completely and utterly despised their existence. Of course, there were some guards that actually enjoyed helping residents, but Fiona never seemed like one of those people. Ethan could be wrong; he knew that. But it made him not trust her even more, not knowing what game she was playing.Â
âNo.â Ethan said sternly. âNo guard is going to make me owe them shit. I buy the drinks and you donât complain and pout about it.â He didnât need her charity. He didnât even need her company at this point. And yet, there he was, sitting with a government official in a bar. He let out a sigh, running his hands over his face as he did so. He turned to the bartender. âCan we get⊠cranberry vodka, gin and tonic, a beer, and a glass of wine.â He wasnât sure what Fiona would want to drink this time and in all honesty, he couldnât even remember what she drank last time they were at a bar together.Â
âAnd you think I wanna owe a resident anything?â Fiona asked, brow raised as she looked over the male. Though, if he was going to buy the drinks all night then she wasnât going to turn her nose up too much at it. After all, if Ethan had insisted then Fiona didnât owe him shit for it. She shook her head, but let him order, her hands wrapping around the wine glass the second it was placed down in front of them. It was always the same, at first. They were uptight about each other, questioning why theyâd even joined each others company, and then the alcohol got in their system and suddenly that wasnât so important anymore. It was still in the back of their minds, but not as important.Â
âI hope that horrible cranberry stuff is for you.â She scoffed, laughing softly as she sipped at her wine, leaning against the bar as she looked over their surroundings. To her, Lake Grimstone wasnât about helping the residents, it was about keeping non-powered people safe. If that meant she had to drag her ass and actually help those with powers from time to time then she would, but her concern wasnât for them. âSo, wanna tell me what crawled up your ass and died in the past half hour, or is this just gonna be how you are until you have more alcohol in your system? Because if thatâs the case, then the shots are already needed.âÂ

xspeedoflightxâ:
It wouldâve been a crime if Katherine didnât take the opportunity to have some fun while the rides were still around, now wouldnât it? Granted, it wasnât the most fun activity, but she had nothing better to do that day, and quite frankly, she was feeling rather restless. Quickly jumping into the bumping car, she buckled up and once the car started, she gripped onto the steering wheel; brows furrowed and gaze extremely focused on her target, âI crashed my Volvo like ten times, Iâm extremely good at this, itâs totally my forte.â She chuckled. She was extremely competitive, and sheâd be damned if she didnât win that round. Was there even a price? Probably not, but that didnât matter now. She slammed the front of the car into the other, before sticking her tongue out, âAt least try to make this a little harder for me. Itâs not fun this way.â
Fiona was pissed off. She was supposed to be off, but the festival had needed more people to look after everything and so sheâd stupidly volunteered for the overtime. She regretted it about ten minutes into being there. âHey!â She shouted, pointing at Katherine so the female would know that it was her she was addressing, âNo targeting just one person.â Fiona barked, arms crossed and clearly more grumpy than usual as she walked around the edges of the bumper cars, keeping an eye on everyone, not just Katherine.Â

ethanxparkinsonâ:
âDo you?â Ethan asked, teasingly. âIs that why you got your own dog to try to help you take down residents?â He lowered himself again and began petting the dog. âI donât blame you, really. Especially since you donât have a power of your own.â Ethan found himself muttering as he eyed the dog closely. âChill out, Fiona.â Ethanâs voice was calm even if hers was threatening.Â
âYou probably get threatened on a daily basis. You should be used to it by now.â Ethan moved away from the dog, folding his arms across his chest as he watched her. âRight.â He rolled his eyes and let out a sigh. He was already starting to regret even agreeing to a drink. He grimaced as he watched her move towards the barracks and he shook his head back and forth. One drink. One lousy drink was all she was getting from him, then heâd bail. He turned and walked towards the bar.
âSee, you tease, but what you donât know is he has a superpower of his own. Heâs basically Krypto.â Fiona realised she was being a little full on today, more of an asshole than usual, so she was trying to lighten the mood. Really, an apology would likely do it but she wasnât one to apologise-- especially not to residents, even if it was Ethan. âIâll chill out once Iâve had a drink.â Was all she said, trying to give the other a small smile.Â
Fiona shrugged at his comment, looking over the other, âI mean, I think itâs moved to a semi-daily basis. Guess I gotta take the improvements where I can get them.â She made her way back to the barracks pretty quickly, getting changed out of her uniform and into a white strappy top with a black denim skirt. Once sheâd shoved her uniform in the wash, and made sure Sammy had enough water and food down for the evening, she headed back out to meet Ethan. She quickly found him in the bar, smiling softly at him, âSo I think itâs me that owes you the drink, what dâyou reckon?â Definitely as close to an apology as Ethan was going to get.

âAlways talking shit about the residents, arenât we, Fiona?â He shot a glare at her before his eyes softened again. Why he spent so much time with some of the guards in town was beyond him. âArenât guards supposed to be calm, cool, and collected?â He said with a smile. âOne wrong move, Fiona, and you could easily get hurt by one of us.â He reminded her and then glanced back towards the dog. He wagged his tail and nuzzled against him. Ethan patted his head for a moment before standing back up.
âIâm not punishing anyone besides the government that is the owner of that business. Those employees will still get paid even if I donât pay for my meal.â Ethan waved a hand towards the restaurant, not bothered by it at all. âI could also threaten you with an arrow for your silence.â Ethan said. âBut, a drink would probably be more fun. And Iâll tip the bartender if they are good. If not, no tip for them.â
Fiona shrugged, a soft grin coming to her lips like it was almost something to be proud of⊠However, his next words wiped that grin off of her features. âI donât need you to tell me how dangerous you guys can be, Ethan. I know damn well myself, thanks.â The guard almost hissed, though she tried her hardest to keep her cool around Ethan. Once he had a few drinks in him, he was bearable, and Fiona felt like she had a friend; something she couldnât really say she had many of around here. âOne wrong move and you could get hurt by me too. Donât think I wonât use my taser on you.â She watched as Sammy patiently waited for more attention, though when he realised he wouldnât get it, he moved to sit back at Fionaâs side.
âDonât threaten me, Ethan. Itâs not a good look on you. Youâre just lucky youâre right, weâre not assholes enough to take unpaid meals out of their wages.â The guard didnât know that for sure, but she hoped at least. âA drink is more fun. Iâll head back to the barracks and get changed, and meet you at the bar? You better have the first round in, Parkinson. You know what I like.â She smirked, thankful that this was the last shift of hers for the week. The four/three pattern suited her nicely.

ethanxparkinsonâ:
Ethan was used to the accusations the guards always had. Especially Fiona. For the most part, though, it amused him. âI think animals can be better than people, or worse. Depends on the animal.â Ethan said to her. âAnd since when do you have a guard dog? Is he yours or is this little guy an actual hire with a salary?â Ethan asked, a smirk on his lips. âIf itâs the latter, the government must be pretty desperate.â He knelt down and held a hand out towards the dog so it could smell him.Â
He rolled his eyes and glanced back towards the restaurant that he had just left without paying. âIâm sure theyâll be able to compensate with the amount of tips they get every day.â In his mind, the government should not only provide the amenities, but also the food. So why should he have to pay for it when they were the ones that forced him to live there? âWhat are you going to do about it, Fiona?â He glanced up at her with a smile. âGo tell on me?â
âThis animal is better, but that doesnât say much with the type of people here. Looking directly at you there, buddy.â Fiona smirked right back, rolling his eyes at the males comments. âHeâs mine. I figured I need something to keep me grounded enough to not freak out on you assholes and get myself in trouble. After all, who will look after little Sammy if something happened to me? He relies on me.â And Fiona relied on him, but she wasnât about to tell Ethan that. She watched as the man reached towards the dog, watching Sammyâs reaction. His tail started wagging, and soon he was nuzzling against Ethan. âHuh, he likes you.âÂ
âI get if it was run by guards, but those people are your fellow residents, Ethan. You shouldnât punish them for your dislike of the town when they could be in the exact same boat as you.â Fiona wasnât necessarily chiding the other, just simply stating things how she saw it. âWhat am I going to do about it? Not a lot. Youâve left now, and itâs not big enough for me to stick my nose into. However, my shift finishes in thirty minutes so you can buy me a drink to buy my silence... and maybe give your bartender a nice little tip.â

âDo you ever think about how animals are just... far better than people?â Fiona spoke suddenly, hoping to startle the other as she pet the dog next to her. âFor instance, they donât seriously believe that I didnât see what you just did.â She said, looking at them pointedly with a raised brow.Â

âAww now thatâs the sound of someone who has little faith in me. In the short time weâve had each others backs have you seen anyone else any further ahead? Trust that I know what Iâm doing more than them.â He gave small chuckle, choking out smoke as he did. âTrying to insinuate that Iâm a cocky asshole too? I think Iâve got him as figured out as I need to.â He shrugged and took a few steps over to the nearest bench, sitting himself down, arms slung over the back like he owned it, cigarette dangling from his lips. âJust putting it out there but have you thought about calling the number? That usually works if youâre trying to find out who someone is,â he offered his advice smugly.
âI do trust that you know what youâre doing Brian, but Iâm yet to see any results. How have you even moved forward since we last spoke?â She asked, brow raising as the man spoke about having Jonathan all figured out. âYou feel like sharing some of that wisdom you seem to have on Mr. Lund so I can win my bet against him?â Fiona questioned, though she knew that Brian probably wouldnât betray any trust he had earned with the Bone Manipulator. She was sure he had a plan for that trust, probably. The female remained stood, her arms folded as she rocked on her heels, âAnd if I call it and itâs a fucking random person? Or worse, itâs a resident, and I donât remember what happened? No I canât do that.âÂ

âSomehow-âŠâ He began, only to pause for a brief moment, as he slowly circled the woman, casually, of course; there was nothing threatning in his steps, and his voice, despite being low and deep, carried a teasing tune, â..-I find it hard to believe you.â He whispered, a little closer to her, so she could hear his words. He was confident in himself, that he was going to make her crack; one way or another, she had already been marked as an easy target. If she had given in once, she was going to do it again. âItâs always that one crucial, first mistake that paves the path to the next one.â He spoke with utter certainty, as he stopped in his tracks, behind the brunette, âIâve fallen a long time ago, Fiona. Took you some time to figure that out.â
Fiona rolled her eyes as the man started to circle her, her arms folding defensively as he moved closer yet again. âThat sounds like a whole big you problem, Lund.â She simply shrugged, taking a step backwards to put the space back between them. âI know itâs hard to conceive, Jonathan, but most people learn from their mistakes. Revolutionary, I know. You might like to try it sometime.â The guard offered in the most sickly sweet tone she could muster. It took everything in her not to put her hand on the taser at her belt as Jon stopped behind her, but she knew that would just be seen as a weakness in his eyes. Instead she turned, brow raised, âIt took me all of about two seconds, actually. Youâre not that mysterious, Mr. Lund.â
