My dog passed yesterday so here’s a (not really a) poem derived from my grief driven thoughts on the matter, maybe it will resonate with someone.

Ever since you fell into step with me all those years ago, you’ve walked beside me while the spirit of your footprints warmed my skin, my bones

as the years passed and your light footfalls grew heavier and slower, the warmth became painful, you melted through to the marrow and burned it away, I’m hollow

Your red hot tracks now circle my arms and legs, arch up over my back, around my neck, my ribs, and settle with one paw on either side of my heart

I see you there, my darling boy, behind my eyelids, paws planted firmly on my chest, watching with the kind of admiration that only comes with your unconditional love

Only in dreams can I sink my hands into soft fur, run with you, tell you I miss you, tell you I’d burn a thousand times over if it meant I could have you again

I can’t wait to close my eyes

I just wanna say this is exactly what I wanted from the original 6, cute little check ins to make sure your friends are holding up ok.

Bucky moved around his schedule to go see if Sam was alright, bro had a plane to catch but still dropped by for a hug and some words of wisdom and I EAT THAT SHIT UP like sure the action sequences and blue steel battle shots are great but I’m in it for the character relationships and that 5 minute scene was like an oasis in this damn desert of punch sound effects. I hope we get more of that like, show me that they liKE EACH OTHER PLEASE SHOW IT TO ME. Anyhow I’m sure other people can articulate this much better than me but that’s my two cents I guess!!

Also my crazy ass was clutching the arm rests at the “I love you” like that was so sweet, I know it was a little besties moment but I will stay dumb about them.

Sam having a cute pic of them on his desk didn’t help me there.

Anyways, I love Sam as cap and am actually optimistic about the new avengers roster! Keen to see where we go:)

(Didn’t mention Isaiah simply because if I get started on that sweet old man I will not stop crying you don’t know what that scene of him begging them to be careful with his suit did to me, but his and Sam’s relationship is also so important!)
