i’m reading a book where the mc is older than the love interest and it’s crazy bc her age keeps coming up as this huge deal (and i’m only in the first few chapters) but like…she’s 30 and he’s 24? it’s just weird bc i know that wouldn’t even be a factor if the roles were reversed.

okay okay i know i haven’t been on here in a while but i need help.

there’s a zutara one shot that i read every now and again but i can’t find it. i don’t think it’s been deleted, i just can’t find it and don’t remember the name.

what i do remember is that they’re aged up, there’s some sort of comet or something that’s making zuko kinda restless and uncontrollable. the thing is, whatever is going on will make him sick if he doesn’t…ya know😏 with somebody. oh! and this thing only comes around every 7 years and children conceived during this time make very powerful fire benders. i think.

so, ty lee suggests that katara…help him, even though zuko has asked that she be sent away to better help him resist the urge? idk but they do end up in the same room and…ya know.

please help me find it. i know that someone had to be smarter than me and bookmarked it. it’s on ao3 btw so.

as a show that has discussed anti-Blackness, and colorism within the latine community, and how it affected one of the main characters, it’s very odd that there would be a continuation of stories told within that same universe with no Black people included.

using Black characters and stories to get popular, and then abandoning those characters and stories as soon as you’re able to, is very performative and gross.

like it’s not even subtle and the way they’re going to justify it by saying some shit like “oh but there’s three girls now. it’s female lead,” and none of them are Black.

Sapphire tilted her head and looked at him oddly. Warranted of course, he was odd.

"I'm Prince Zuko of the Fire Nation. Grandson of Lord Azulon. Son of Prince Ozai and Lady Ursa. I was born during the winter solstice in the year 100 AG. I-"

"Zuko, I don't want a biography from beginning to end, I just wanna who you are. Not facts, just who you are."

Ata watched as the two fugitives angrily emerged from the cave and tried to shake themselves dry.

"I'm gonna kill him! No, correction; I'm gonna kill that waterbender that almost drowned us and then I'm gonna kill him."

Waterbender. They got away.

"Nowadays I don't know what to think about Lee. He's just a liar. And usually I wouldn't mind working with a liar, but not when it's impacting my money."

Ata stepped out in front of the distracted men, "Gentlemen-"

"I'm a girl," the shorter one exclaimed.

"Oh. Well, anyways, why don't you stop acting like owlcats with your tails caught between your legs?" she held up the satchel and waved it in their faces.

The taller guy, drew his swords before she threw a shard of ice at him, "There's no need for that. Not like you could touch me anywway." She threw the satchel at them like a farmer feeding his live stock, "If that's all you want, be on your way."

As the two fought and shoved over who would carry the satchel she added to her taunting, "Even though I could offer you something worth a thousand crowns and would've made you rich beyond belief." She knew they weren't too bright. They'd never play it safe and get away while they could, "And it comes with revenge on Prince Zuko."

The turning point for them was revenge. She finally had found people whose motives she understood. Even if they were idiots who she had every intention to double cross.

Anti-blackness and “Asian fishing”

Asian fishing does not exist. The fact that it is called Asian fishing is, in and of itself, ridiculous.

There’s literally so much anti-blackness within the Asian community that so many Asians refuse to address, but have the nerve to come at us and denounce their half-assed support the second they see a Black person with chopsticks in their hair.

The chopsticks in the hair thing is stupid and awful and I wish people would stop doing that shit, but still.

But the disdain comes from a place much deeper than that when anti-black Asians come out of the woodworks in literal droves to come at a Black woman for NATURALLY having a feature similar to one commonly found in Asian people (but then ignore that Black people can also have almond shaped and monolided and hooded eyes).

At the same time, the fox eye trend didn’t get half the outrage and attention that this anti-black Asian fishing thing is getting. Yt ppl going out of their way to make having slanted eyes a trend like they did with big lips was something that was barely spoken about and surely not with this degree of passion and seriousness.

The idea that Black people can bare a resemblance to Asian people gets more attention and more of a reaction by anti-black Asians than yt ppl literally making a trend out of features they don’t have naturally.

Read that shit again.

This type of shit isn’t uncommon in non-black communitities of color either. The idea of putting and looking down on black people (regardless of similarities in facial features, culture or even experience) to gain a closer proximity to whiteness has been a thing for generations.

That’s the reason many Black people don’t feel comfortable identifying as just people of color. They don’t feel there’s a secure place for them among non-black poc because of the anti-blackness that runs rampant within non-Black communities of color.

Also, the cultural appropriation of the whole Black fishing term, when there is literally a term for the copying of normally Asian features is an issue itself.

Black fishing was a term created by Black people to call out people who were copying and even profiting from features they were made to feel insecure about for so long. So anti-black asians coming out of nowhere and calling it that in reference to a black person’s naturally shaped eyes, is ridiculous.

Also, there is a large, recent history of Asians profiting off of black fishing and the cultural appropriation of black culture for their own personal gain and then being silent and relatively uninvolved/uninterested in black issues that they could raise awareness on. That, is also barely ever referenced within these conversations.

Anti-blackness in the Asian community is real and needs to be addressed by more Asians.
