countless  challenges ,    hours  spent  in  soul  ties    —    obviously  august  was  all  he  could  think  about  on  that  beach .      a  date  with  a  new  bombshell ;    he  was  supposed  to  give  a  chance  to  the  new  connections ,    but  conrad  kept  thinking  about  how  he  wished  she  could  see  the  view .      his  girl .      they  were  just  brought  back  to  the  villa ,    and  the  first  voice  he  heard  made  the  corner  of  his  mouth  lift  into  a  grin ,          ❝    of  course ,    c’mon .    ❞          hand  closed  around  hers ,    leading  them  towards  an  empty  couch .      as  soon  as  they  sat  down ,    conrad  lifted  a  hand  to  tuck  a  blonde  lock  behind  her  ear ,          ❝    everything  alright ?    ❞

the  brush  of  her  fingertips  sent  a  shock  up  his  forearms ,    because  even  a  simple  touch  brought  him  back .      back  to  when  she  would  light  up  his  phone  every  night ,    to  the  days  he  got  to  hold  her  in  his  arms .      back  to  when  she  was  his .      conrad  swallowed ,    his  voice  rough  when  he  finally  broke  the  silence ,          ❝    whatever  you  need  to  tell  yourself  to  cope .    ❞          with  one  eye  closed ,    he  lined  up  his  shot ,          ❝  and  it’s  not  luck ,    it’s  skill .    ❞          that  pride  didn’t  guide  his  shot  though    —    not  when  her  touch  still  lingered  in  his  palm .

the  ball  bounced  once ,    then  was  knocked  off  the  edge  of  the  corner  cup .      even  with  the  miss ,    conrad  still  stood  tall ,    shrugging  his  shoulders ;          ❝    i  wanted  to  make  sure  you  get  a  chance  to  throw  one .    ❞          he  took  a  second ,    trying  to  ground  himself  after  his  wandering  mind  cost  him  a  shot .      a  sip  from  his  bottle  of  beer  and  he  was  back  on  his  a-game .      the  next  ball  sunk  into  its  intended  target .          ❝    alright .      time  to  show  your  skills ,    ❞          arms  crossed ,    staring  her  down  with  a  grin ,          ❝    good  luck .    ❞

NEVER one to refuse or back down from a challenge, belly had put it out there with the intention to win. she knew that conrad was just as competitive as she was, if not more so, but she was confident in her own abilities. drunken chatter and loud music surrounded them but her focus was on the table before her and the cups across the way.  ❛❛ i'd be mad if you did, con. winning that way wouldn't be any fun, ❜❜ she teased back, unable to help the slight race of her heart as he smirked at her. IT was nice to see him letting loose and smiling like that, even if it was in the face of competition; she'd missed seeing that and couldn't help but stare for a moment. the trance was broken, however, as his aimed ball landed in its targeted cup. shit-talking words formed on her lips but before she could get them out, he sank another ball.  ❛❛ lucky shots, ❜❜ she concluded as both cups were drained and removed. gathering the balls, she moved to hand them back, too aware of the heat left behind when her hand brushed against his.  ❛❛ you'll miss this one. i can feel it. ❜❜

it  was  a  mystery  as  to  why  they  wound  up  in  forks .      his  roommate  suggested  a  road  trip  through  washington  for  spring  break .      a  cheap  excursion .      and  one  wrong  turn  left  them  in  the  cloudiest  town  conrad  had  ever  seen .      raincoat  was  tugged  tightly  around  his  shoulders ,    scrolling  through  the  emails  he  had  missed  on  the  drive — then  she  smacked  into  him .      conrad  instinctively  clutched  her  waist ,    catching  the  girl  before  she  completely  stumbled ;          ❝    shit !      i’m  sorry .      you  alright ?    ❞ 

head is focused on her phone, feet on wet floor, as renesmee walks in her hometown. earphones in ears which is why she doesn't see the other coming--body colliding into him making her gasp as she falls over. ❛ oh ! ❜
