Sunshine Getaway is a psychological horror game set in the 90s in southern California. You play as Rien, a struggling ex-detective who begins to get ads for a “mental health resort” called the Sunshine Getaway. He decides to go there, hoping that it’ll put him back on his feet, but he soon finds that the place is hiding something truly terrible.

My first indie project, Sunshine Getaway, is now released! Thank you to all who supported me and helped playtest my game!

Note: This is a short demo and the game currently does not have many horror elements. Look forward to the Act 1 demo for a more fleshed out experience!

UPDATE

hello everyone who is still here, i wanted to say that i am sorry for abandoning this blog for so long haha. i've been pretty busy, i'm a senior in college now so you know how it is. i do want to give some updates on FIVE and what i'm going to be doing with the game in the future.

first of all, i still want to work on FIVE. i've worked so hard on it and i'm not going to be abandoning it completely anytime soon. however, i don't know when i'm going to be able to work on the game again.

at the moment i'm working on a completely original rpgmaker MV game called Sunshine Getaway, which is currently taking up all of my focus.

also, the game is actually real and is being developed currently. i'm working with 8 other people on this game in a class so a lot of work is being done. there's even a demo out on itch.io right now! play it! here is the link

so yeah, that's what's going on with me right now. i will get back to FIVE eventually but that probably won't be until Sunshine Getaway is finished (which may take a while). i might work on FIVE during my senior overview class in the spring semester but that's an uncertainty. i've been kind of avoiding the off community rn for personal reasons, but FIVE is my pride and joy and i'm developing this game for myself and not anyone else at this point.

hi everyone, sorry for going quiet these past few months. burnout hit hard and i've been busy recently. im studying internationally my next college semester so i've been getting prepared for that the past 2 months.

unfortunately i will not be getting a FIVE demo out this summer. i do plan on working it during my next semester as i have a Lot of free time (and i also work better with a schedule), but i've just been so out of it this summer that i haven't been able to make a lot of progress.

anyway, that's all. ty everyone for being patient with me :)

ive considered getting outside help but it honestly depends. like id love help with music, animations, chipsets, that kinda stuff... but everything else would mostly be me. but idk! i still have to think abt it

BIG UPDATE!

hey guys guess what i’ve been doing

working on database stuff!

all items and competence moves have been put into the database. i still need to make animations for the moves (which might take a while), but at least the stats for everything have been finished.

i also have made a list of all the enemies in the game (with vague stats in mind, but i might change them) so i’ll just need to put those in at some point.

i also finished all minute details i had in the database so everything works and looks as it should.

i’m still in college and still stressed, so work will still be slow. however, a lot of progress has been made!
