I feel like shawn spencer is on all of the government watch lists. the no fly list. is classified as a potential threat to national security. a team is dedicated to figuring out how this random california pyschic is the most prolific detective in the country. the president knows his name.

Hey! Psychic Shawn Fic!
A while ago I made a little post about a Psychic Shawn AU with ghosts, and I finally posted some on AO3! First four chapters are out, take a look if you want :)
AO3: Can you help me (I've been murdered)? - Chapter 1 - fives_writing - Psych (TV 2006) [Archive of Our Own]
Prologue under the cut
1985
Shawn Spencer wasn’t superstitious. Yes, he was a young impressionable kid, but he’s not an idiot. Maybe according to dad , he thought. Regardless of his intelligence, he was certain that ghosts were not real. Because his father engrained the ideas of logic and reason into him and ghosts are fundamentally nonsensical.
That was why he sat by a campfire, casually eating a s’more, listening to his camp counsellor share some spooky made-up ghost story about the summer camp. Next to him, Gus was shaking, eyes wide. It was unfortunate that Shawn couldn’t convince him to be as skeptical as him. On the brightside, though, it meant Gus was distracted enough to not notice Shawn stealing his uneaten s’more.
And so Shawn slept soundly that night, unlike poor Guster, unafraid of any invisible beings lurking around.
2009
Ghosts still aren’t real. According to Shawn Spencer and science.
Right?
But maybe they really are real. And perhaps the psychic himself had grown a following among those haunting Santa Barbara. After all, he was different from the other fraud psychics and palm readers.
Unlike them, he could actually solve their murders.
So in desperation, many ghosts journeyed across the city, praying that maybe for once they could reach out and talk to a living being. Beg him to take their case and avenge them. To bring closure to their families, friends, and themselves.
Though many would leave disappointed, some stuck around, content to watch the man work. Finding solace in the fact that others would be helped.
And who knows, maybe with enough work they could make him into a real psychic.

Love how Shawn could really stop the psychic charade at any point and probably be fine considering all the cases he's solved but he's committed to the bit too much to ever do that

For my fellow fans of Psych and whump, season 4 episode 9 is a very whumpy episode. Kidnapping, thrown in the trunk of a car, non-lethal gunshot wound, tied to a chair, the works.

I love Psych but ugh it being set in like 2009 means I can't put silly little Buzzfeed Unsolved references into headcanons

Thinking about how a Leverage/Psych crossover would have gone
Team leverage takes a job in Santa Barbara. It goes well until they run into Elliot's cousin Shawn and immediately have to switch gears
team leverage has multiple arguments about whether psychics are real
Shawn's observation skills lead him to quickly realize that something's up (it's the talking into earpieces constantly)
The team KNOWS cons. The figure out that Shawn is conning the police department pretty quickly. What they can't figure out is why it's WORKING
At one point Shawn thinks that Elliot is the criminal. Later he thinks he's undercover.
The episode ends with an "I won't tell your secrets if you won't tell mine"and using Shawn's skills as part of a con
Parker definitely straps Gus to a rappel line and throws him off a building

shawngus is so good the most dynamic ever. local weirdo who's only weird because he's angry at his father is in love with mr. normal upstanding citizen whose side gig is being the most neurotic man ever & their top love language is committing to the bit. if you put them in a situation where they can either follow the law or wear silly little costumes they will choose door #2 every single time & manage to destroy several other doors in the process

for me one of the funniest things about psych is that shawn could clearly succeed at dozens of professions and make a LOT of money — hell he could make millions playing poker — but instead he’s like “u know what I’m gonna to do? pretend to be a psychic and solve crimes w my bestie he he”
