She hums lightly, watching him bend over just to reach her at her level, her eyes following him as he latched onto her arm, the feeling of him lapping at her open wound a strange feeling. It wasn't often that she gave up her blood to humans, and if she did, they usually weren't as conscious as this.

When he finally pulls away from her, she reaches out quickly, using her thumbs to wipe the blood away as best she can, her eyes darkening as she watches him. "Glad to hear it. Seemed to help with... whatever you've got goin' on."

maybe he's pandering a little, but he isn’t lying when he says that she looks delicious. she's beautiful, and even if he wasn't hungry, he might want his mouth on her.

a hand wraps gently around her arm. he's so tall in comparison that he has to bend over so he can put his mouth against her open wound. tongue licks smooth against bloody, open skin, before sam bites down a little to drink. blood on his lips and chin when he pulls back.

Mystic Falls had proven to be a more interesting town to move to than Annie had expected. Her parents had been so adamant that she'd enjoy the small town more than Chicago, and while it still had it's flaws, it wasn't the worst place to live in.

Maybe a few too many animal attacks for comfort—which was a bit strange considering how often they happened in the town instead of outside it—but otherwise, a nice place.

The past few days though had her a bit off kilter. It was like she could feel something—or someone—watching her, but she kept brushing it off because who would be following her? The new girl in town who's only defining trait to make her exciting was that there just happened to be another girl who looked exactly like her. But she hardly knew her, and tried to keep her head down if she saw her, not wanting to get into the inevitable discussion of figuring out how they might be related and why they look the same.

Tonight was the same as every other night, she was walking home from school, the streetlights starting to slowly light up as the sun started to set, no one else around. Just the sounds of nature buzzing around her.

She barely had a chance to react when the silence was shattered by a man appearing in front of her—as if out of nowhere—and then he was speaking, almost as though this was something totally normal. Like he'd been there all along.

"Jesus—"

Annie stumbled back a step, her hand grasping tightly onto the strap of her bag as she stared—confusion evident on her face. "Hi....?"

He wasn't a familiar face, so she couldn't tell if he was just a local she hadn't met yet, or someone just visiting, but something about him had her on edge. She felt like she should be running in the other direction, instead of making small talk with this strange man in the street. "Where did you.. come from?"

She moved like them. That was the first thing he noticed. The way her hips swayed just enough to pull attention without even trying, the same unconscious confidence laced in every step. But she wasn’t them. Not really.

Damon watched from the rooftop as she strolled down the street below, completely oblivious to the fact she had an audience. Humans were so easy to watch when you didn't care about them. When you didn't feel anything. And right now? He felt nothing.

The past few days had been amusing, watching her. Tracking her. A creature of habit, this one. Morning coffee at that overpriced little shop on 5th. Walk the same path every weekday to the high school. Home by 5:30pm. Alone. Always alone. And every single time, he was there. Just outside her peripheral vision. Close enough to smell the faint trace of her perfume, to hear the rhythm of her heartbeat, to see how her lips curved when she smiled at someone passing by.

Too nice for Katherine. Not as stuck-up as Elena. 

The resemblance was uncanny, and that was exactly why he couldn't stop. Curiosity had its claws in him, and with his humanity flipped off, there was nothing pulling those reins back. No guilt. No hesitation. Just hunger— for answers, for amusement, for blood, for whatever this little game might offer.

And tonight, she was taking that same walk home. Predictable. No one around. Not a single soul on the dimly lit street. He didn't even bother to hide this time. No reason to. No need for the cat and mouse. The game was far too one-sided.

With a blur of motion, he was off the rooftop and directly in front of her path, appearing so suddenly that she barely had time to register him before he spoke, the corner of his mouth curling into a smug grin.

"Hello there."
