Passionately and Deeply
Hi everyone, I'm back with another chapter! I want to give a big thank you to those who stuck it out this long, and if you just stumbled upon my work, welcome! The masterlist will be down below for you to check out for your convenience.
Y'all might hate me for this one, but let me know what you think as usual. Enjoy!
~~~Masterlist~~~
~Chapter Ten~
It was almost two weeks ago that we came back from Seaside, Oregon. I settled back into my work, as did Stanford. It was great to hear what he had done during the day, and I could tell it was the same for him.
Ford did indeed follow through on his promise, and got Dipper and Mabel updated sleeping surfaces. The last time I visited them, their room was spotless.
It was now the Fourth of July, and Stan was having a barbeque for the family. I thankfully took off that day in advance, so I’m glad I could be with them for the day.
Once I arrived at the mystery shack, I saw Mabel and her friends were sitting on the deck and their legs were hanging off. I also saw Dipper and Pacifica there. He had his arm wrapped around her shoulders, and she had a pitt cola in her perfectly french manicured hand. She had the same hairdo in Dipper’s home screen photo, and she wore a flowy pastel pink blouse and black pants with pink uggs. She also had cute silver hoop earrings with a heart at the bottom of each of them.
Soos and Melody, and especially Abuelita were there, with her holding her great grandson. He’s becoming more expressive by the day. I can’t wait to see how much he grows!
I heard Stan call my name. “You made it!” he said, flipping some of the meat on the grill. “I hope ya like steak!”
“You bet I do! Thanks,” I told him as I greeted everyone else.
Soos and Melody were both glowing, not just as a couple but as a family too. They both lit up at their sweet baby boy any time he made a sound or smiled.
“Hell yeah!” Grenda cheered loudly as she said my name. “You’re back!”
“I was here yesterday too, hon,” I told her as I greeted her and Candy.
“Grenda, you can’t hog her all to yourself! I need some girl talk with her too!” Mabel said.
“Hey, what about me?” Candy said playfully. “I could use some girl talk too.”
“Listen, I know you’re all excited, but I think introductions are in order,” Dipper said as he stood up, as did Pacifica.
Dipper called my name as I turned to him and his girlfriend. “This is Pacifica,” he said as he fondly looked down at her. He introduced me to her. “She’s my Great Uncle Ford’s lover.”
Pacifica made a face before we shook hands. “Lover? Aren’t you a little young for him?” she asked judgementally. Her valley girl accent made it sound so much more demeaning.
Well, isn’t she a darling?
“Age is but a number, dear,” I told her. “It’s our connection that matters.”
Pacifica nodded, but I could tell she wasn’t totally convinced when I looked in her dark blue eyes. “If you say so.”
“I know so, Paz,” Dipper told her. “You should see how Great Uncle Ford is with her. He really cherishes her, and she cherishes him.”
“Okay babe.”
“C’mon Paz, really?”
Oh goodness, I really don’t want to be in the middle of this.
As I walked away from them getting into their heated discussion, Ford came outside and greeted me with a hug and a kiss on my forehead. Once we parted, I kissed his stubbly cheek.
“How are you, handsome?” I asked.
Ford scratched the back of his head as a small blush grew across his face. “I don’t think I’ll ever get used to you calling me that,” he admitted.
I smiled as I sweetly looked up at him. “You really should,” I told him. “Because it’s true. You’re my handsome man~”
“You really spoil me, sweetheart,” he told me as he wrapped his arms around my waist and kissed my temple. I rested my hands on his chest and smiled.
“I’m just giving you things you should have received,” I said.
“Goodness, sweetheart,” he said. “You’re really living up to your nickname. Are you hoping for a reward?”
I shook my head. “No, actually,” I told him.
Ford gave me a smirk which made me rub my thighs together. “Of course not. It’s certainly not the reason why you’re rubbing your thighs together right now,” he told me.
“I wasn’t thinking about that until you brought it up, you dirty, dirty man,” I purred.
His grip on my waist got tighter and our waists were pressed against each other so tightly that I thought we would eventually meld together.
“Ugh, Ford!” Stan called.
We slightly parted, as my hands were now at my sides and Ford’s hand was on my hip. “What is it, Stan?”
“When you’re done seducing her, can ya help me plate some of this food? Preferably soon?” Stan asked.
“I can help with that, Mr. Pines,” Soos said. “Let your brother spend some time with his lover.”
Stan huffed but gave a smile to the two of us. He then turned his gaze to Soos. “Thanks, Soos. You’re a good man.”
I gave a grateful smile to Soos as Ford turned his attention to me. Just as I was about to indulge him, Stan announced, “Dinner’s ready!”
As the rest of the group went to grab some food, Ford groaned, his forehead pressing against mine as I smiled. “Sixer, dollface,” he said. “If you’re both done with groping each other, you can join us at the table.”
Ford rolled his eyes. “Stanley, must you be so vulgar?”
“There are children present, Stan,” I added.
“It’s not like they don’t know what I’m talking about, though,” Stan said as he dished out for himself.
I rolled my eyes as we both made our way to one of the picnic tables. As I was about to take a seat next to Dipper, Pacifica smoothly took my seat, flashing me a look before turning to her boyfriend. I gave a what-the-fuck look to Ford, and he shrugged as we both sat across from the young couple. Ford and I dished out for ourselves.
Spread across the table were some chicken kebabs, beef kebabs, steaks, grilled salmon, grilled peppers and grilled potatoes that all looked expertly seasoned.
My mouth is watering.
“So…” Pacifica said my name, trailing off. “What do you do for a living?”
I took a sip of my water before I told her what I did.
Pacifica smiled, but it didn’t reach her eyes. Instead, she retained the same judgemental look in her eyes. “Oh, really? You have to be really successful in order for that to be a sustainable career.”
I smiled back softly. I can do this all day.
“I better thank my lucky stars then! I am very successful,” I told her, taking a bite out of my steak. Stan really tenderized it, so it was almost like it was melting in my mouth.
“Oh, well good for you,” Pacifica said.
Dipper didn’t seem to pick up on what she was trying to do, but Ford did. He leaned in closer to whisper in my ear.
“Are you okay, sweetheart?”
I nodded. “Of course I am,” I whispered back, looking into his copper brown eyes.
“So, why Gravity Falls? I mean, we’re quite literally in the middle of nowhere,” she said.
I shrugged, turning back to her. Ford started picking at his food. “I always enjoyed the woodlands and rolling hills and meadows. Gravity Falls happens to have all of those.”
“Oh, so you’re a free spirit then?” Pacifica asked. At this point, Soos, Melody and their son went inside the Mystery Shack with Abuelita. They seemed to be finished with their food.
I gave a half shrug. “In a way, I suppose,” I said.
“So do you think you’ll stay here for a while? Probably not, since you’re a free spirit,” she said.
I feel like she’s trying to nail me for something, but I’m not sure for what and why.
I smiled. “I think I will stay here,” I told her. “Maybe for a long time. Especially since I met the Pines family. Honestly, the whole town has been very welcoming to me. It feels like home.”
“Oh, isn’t that nice?” Pacifica remarked, something devious dripping from her words. Dubious? No. There was nothing dubious about her intentions.
It’s almost as if Pacifica has a hidden agenda to make me look bad. I haven’t felt like this since I was in middle school… which matches actually, considering how old she is.
“Do you fancy geriatric men or just a specific one for his wallet?” Pacifica asked.
I raised an eyebrow, unamused. “Let’s stop dancing,” I told her. “What are you trying to gain from asking me these questions?”
“C’mon,” Pacifica said my name. “Let’s be real here. No woman or girl in her right mind would go out with a man as old as Dr. Pines unless he had something to offer. And I’m not talking about his personality.” I saw Ford scowl and his jaw was taut.
“Pacifica!” Dipper scolded her. “What the hell!”
“Listen, I’ve seen this many times at my parents’ parties when they used to have them,” Pacifica retorted back. “Almost all of the time, these girls and young women were only there for their wallets.”
“How could you say that about her, Pacifica?” Grenda asked. “Why do you have to be such a bitch? Let her live!”
“Why do you have to be so oafish, Grenda? Honestly,” she said. “It’s another wonder how Marius can find you attractive, especially with how muscular you are. And you’re taller than him? Yiiiiiiiikes.”
I saw Grenda tear up, and she ran into the Mystery Shack. Candy and Mabel went after her.
“Pacifica… where is this coming from, kiddo?” Stan asked.
“What I’m surprised about is that you haven’t thought about this, Stan,” Pacifica said.
Stan nodded. “I thought the worst of her at one point, too,” he said. “But now that I gave her a chance, I kinda regret not doing that sooner. I know you’re not used to respecting your elders, but you really should be more respectful to her, kid.”
“You of all people know that I only respect people worth respecting.” Pacifica then looked at me dead in the face. “And I don’t see anything worth respecting about this lady.”
“You have crossed the line, young lady,” Ford said in a low tone. “You need to leave. Now.”
Pacifica rolled her eyes as she stood up. “Listen, I was trying to look out for you, Dr. Pines,” she told him. “I’m trying to save you from heartbreak.”
“Leave, Miss. Northwest.”
“Wait, Great Uncle Ford!” Dipper said. “Let me talk to her.”
Ford looked at him before nodding. “Very well.”
Stan groaned and started packing up all of the food to save for another day. “Of course I get stuck with this shit,” he muttered underneath his breath.
I decided to help him out, and with some persuasion, Ford helped his brother, too.
Once we stored all of the food, we headed inside to store them in the fridge, and we couldn’t help but overhear the altercation between the teenagers. I definitely don’t miss that part of my life.
“You always try to defend her, Mabel!” Candy said. “Maybe to you she’s changed, but she still treats us like trash!”
“Yeah!” Grenda chimed in. “And whenever I bring up something that she said that makes me feel awful, you always dismiss it, like she isn’t capable of doing something like that. Why do you keep defending her, Mabel?”
“C’mon girls! You can’t deny that she hasn’t changed at all! She’s making huge strides from where she was when we first met,” Mabel said.
Wait… so Pacifica was worse than she displayed?
Oh dear goodness.
“To you, she’s made huge progress, but only because you’re the sister of her boyfriend,” Grenda told her.
“I’m sorry Mabel, but we can’t take this anymore,” Candy told her. I heard both of them get up. “Until you see what she actually says about us and actually acknowledge that she’s still mean to us, we can’t be friends with you.”
“Candy, Grenda, please! There has to be another way!”
“This is the only way, Mabel,” Grenda told her. “You won’t listen or do anything if we do it any other way!”
I heard footsteps coming down the stairs and out of the shack.
Wow… I can’t believe it’s really that bad.
I think the older set of twins noticed what I was doing, as Stan gestured for Ford and I to follow him. “Come with me,” he said, seemingly talking more to me than his brother. “You can hear conversations better in my office.”
We followed him into his office, and instead of hearing Mabel and her thoughts, we listened to Dipper and Pacifica’s soft voices. We all stilled as we listened to what they were saying.
“We just keep going around in circles, Paz,” Dipper told her. “You weren’t mean like that before, not to anyone else but her. Tell me why, please!”
“I already told you, Dipper,” Pacifica said. “There’s something off about that woman. She’s after your great uncle for something.”
“And again, what could she possibly want, other than companionship with Great Uncle Ford?” Dipper asked. “You know that my family isn’t rich, but we aren’t poor, so it’s definitely not money. I doubt it’s just for cuddling, unless that’s what they’re into. I also doubt that… you know what, I’m not gonna get into that point, because it’s a moot point.”
It was silent for a while before Pacifica spoke again.
“...Are you thinking that she’s lusting after him?”
“What the hell, Pacifica? Really?” Dipper yelled. “I sincerely doubt that!”
“That must be it!”
“Pacifica, stop!” he said. “Leave her alone! She’s a part of the family now, and if you disrespect her, we can’t be together!”
Silence filled the air again until Pacifica broke it once again.
“So you’re really going to choose a woman you barely know over me? Your girlfriend of one and a half years?” Pacifica asked.
“I don’t want to, Pacifica,” he told her.
Dipper said my name before trailing off. “She helped me deal with something that I never knew I still had: my insecurities.”
“This again? Dipper, I told you that you’re fine just the way you are!”
“And I appreciate it, but instead of giving me the same positive affirmations, she gave me real solutions,” Dipper told her.
“No… are you freaking serious?!” Pacifica shrieked.
“What, Paz? What?” Dipper asked.
“You’re in love with her!” Pacifica told him. “That’s why you’re so eager to call her family when you’ve known her for what? Less than a month?”
“It’s actually over a month-”
Pacifica cut Dipper off. “I can’t, I can’t!” she said. “You can’t even be honest with yourself!”
“Pacifica,” Dipper started, his voice low and steady. “I don’t like her in a romantic way. I like the fact that she is the only one who makes my Great Uncle Ford smile brightly, and brings out an entirely different side of him. She’s been good for him, and unless there’s something shady that she’s done, I could care less about the shitty things you have to say about her!”
Pacifica scoffed. “So, what? Are we over?”
Dipper sighed before speaking. “No, we aren’t over,” he told her. “But you need to apologize to her if we’re going to make some serious changes.”
Pacifica groaned. “Fine. Where is she?”
“She might still be in the back. I saw Grunkle Stan and Great Uncle Ford packing the food up with her back there,” he told her.
Stan and Ford both looked at me. “Quick! You have to go!” Ford said with urgency.
“No, she can’t do that,” Stan said. “It’ll look too suspicious! Go to the living room, and walk out as she heads out the door.”
“I don’t know, Stanley, isn’t that just as suspicious?” Ford asked.
“Trust me, I’ve been in worse situations, so this one is a piece of cake,” Stan told him as he looked down at me. “Alright, dollface, you’re up. Just go to the living room and walk out from there.”
“But it’s right next to the door!”
“Trust me, it’ll be fine! Now go!” Stan said, pushing me towards the door of his office.
I walked out of his office, and tried to play it cool by going towards the living room. As I was walking towards the living room, Dipper came back inside and saw me. He said my name.
“Hey, I didn’t know you were inside,” he said before scratching the back of his head. “I’m sorry for the way my girlfriend acted towards you. It wasn’t cool at all, and I didn’t think she’d be so disrespectful.”
I smiled. “I appreciate that hon, but I think your girlfriend should apologize, not you.”
“I know, but… I feel kinda responsible, you know?”
I nodded. “Don’t take on extra emotional labor, Dipper,” I told him. “It’s not your burden to bear.”
“I guess you’re right,” he said as Pacifica walked back in.
“She wasn’t- oh, you’re here,” she said.
“Here I am,” I told her.
“So, I just want to apologize. It wasn’t nice of me to speak to you like that or whatever,” she said.
“Do you think I’d accept a half-assed apology like yours?” I asked. “I only accept ones that are genuine, and that was not a genuine apology, my dear.”
Pacifica sighed. “Fine. I’m sorry that I antagonized you without getting to know you fairly,” she said, her voice dripping with boredom and a little bit of resentment.
“...Somewhat better. I’ll take it for now,” I told her. “I appreciate your apology.”
Pacifica turned to Dipper, her face softened. “I’ll call you later?”
Before Dipper could respond, he looked at a vibrating message from his phone. He turned it off before responding. “We’ll see. I appreciate what you did, though.”
This young lady gives me performative vibes. Maybe it’s just me. Who or what she’s performing for, I have no idea.
Pacifica left before saying another word, and Dipper ascended the stairs without saying anything either. I ended up closing the front door before I ascended the stairs myself to Dipper and Mabel’s room and knocked.
“Mabel hon, it’s me. Can I come in?” I asked.
“Leave me alone!” Mabel said, her voice warbling.
“Sorry,” Dipper said my name. “Please leave us for the time being.”
“Okay. Sweet dreams,” I told them as I walked back down the stairs.
Gosh… this was a lot more drama filled than I ever cared to think about.
At the bottom of the stairs, I saw Ford with a sad look on his face. I smiled as I held his face in my hands and kissed his cheek.
“Don’t be so sad, honey,” I told him. “I’m okay. It’s gonna take more than a teenager to make me feel inadequate.”
I mean, I do that just fine on my own.
“You’re so much more than just your body,” Ford said my name. “Your mind, your wit, your positive energy, your soul… I love everything about you.”
I smiled softly. “You love me?”
Ford scratched the back of his head as he gave me a small smile. “I suppose there’s no use in hiding how I truly feel,” he told me. “Yes, sweetheart. I love you.”
I smiled sweetly at him. “Aww, honey~” I cooed. “I love you too.”
Ford’s eyes widened in shock. “T… Truly? You love me?” Ford asked.
I nodded while I retained my sweet smile. “Of course I do. I love the way you can recall facts at the drop of a dime just by the mere mention of the name. I love the many hobbies you have. I love how talented you are, ranging from a man of science to having an artistic edge to you. Although serious, you’re never afraid to be a little goofy,” I told him as he got a little red. “Your hands are also a plus.”
“R-really?”
I nodded as I gathered his six fingered hands in my own and smiled. “They’re so big and rugged and manly… I like how much bigger they are compared to my own,” I told him.
“You… really don’t mind my extra digits?”
I shook my head. “No… why would I?” I asked. “If you didn’t have your six fingers, you wouldn’t be you, Stanford.”
“Sweetheart…” he trailed off before hugging me. “Thank you.”
I wrapped my arms around his waist as we just stayed there, taking each other in during our embrace. We eventually parted, and Ford looked at me. “I know you have an early day tomorrow. Why don’t we retire for the night… my love?”
I smiled at him. “Let’s do that… my love.”
We walked to his bedroom, and I was kinda glad that I had a change of clothes over here from a week ago. We both did our individual nightly routines, and ended up underneath the covers, in each other’s arms.
“I love you,” he said my name.
I smiled as I pressed a soft kiss to his lips.
“I love you too, Stanford.”
His baby girls are so cute 🥺🥰
Stan and his little forest 🌲
I recently drew this last Nov 20, 2024. It’s a fanart for one of my online discord friends fanfic who wrote “Family Planning” on ao3 uwu 💖 I love that Stan’s finally having his own family and getting the chance to be a dad! ughhhh I’m sobbing. I want to give him everything and all the happiness he deserves!!!! There’s no gender reveal yet, but my headcanon is Stan’s a daddy’s girl type and he’s gonna have both twin girls!!! hehe
I remembered that one episode from gravity falls where stan’s carrying waddles in a baby carrier and It gave me the idea like what if he’s carrying his own babies gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh. Since Stan is soooo big, he can carry both twins on his front XD I saw another baby carrier reference where there’s one on the front and back haha maybe i’ll draw them again next time like they’re going for a family outing XD definitely gonna color them too cuz I just know the babies would get stan’s orange nose gaaaaaaaa that would be so cute!!! I’m already dying from the fluff and cuteness (∗∕ ∕•̥̥̥̥∕ω∕•̥̥̥̥∕)
~Chapter Nine~
After Stan and Ford’s birthday, Ford and I realized that we should probably do some more sightseeing rather than fooling around in our room all day and night.
His great niblings only came during the summer, so if anything, I pushed us to get out of the room.
This morning was our last full day here at Garvin Inn, and I decided we would make the most of it.
But he wanted to lay in bed for a while, which was more than fine by me.
“Oh!” I said, lightly slapping his chest. “I have a bone to pick with you!”
Ford raised his eyebrow, amused. “Was our lovemaking session not up to par last night, sweetheart?”
“No, I’m serious, Ford,” I told him. “I need to talk to you about your great-niblings’ sleeping arrangements!”
Ford stared at me blankly. “What about them?”
“The place where they sleep is appalling, Ford!” I told him. “There’s dust bunnies and moth balls, and… it looks like their mattresses were once one mattress, and it was sawed in half! And there weren’t any mattress covers, either!”
“Sweetheart, please don’t get yourself worked up,” he said. “I promise that I’ll find them something decent once we get back to Gravity Falls.”
I smiled cheesily. “Great!”
Ford chuckled delightfully as he pressed a kiss to my forehead. “Now that I have you here… I want to share something with you,” he said my name.
I looked up at him. “What is it?”
“Mainly… the reason why I didn’t mention my brother when we first met at the diner,” he told me.
I settled in on top of him, preparing to listen intently.
Ford sighed before speaking. “I rarely showed interest in anyone. On the off chance that I did, Stanley would find a way to have them attracted to him, unless it was a one time thing.”
“He did?”
Ford nodded. “Ever since I got back from my travels, he would continuously block me from having a serious relationship with anyone I tried to pursue,” he said. “Eventually, I gave up. I thought that I would be companionless for the rest of my life. I never had a serious relationship before, so I didn’t think it would ever happen… until I met you.”
I kissed his cheek before settling my head back on his chest. “I wonder if that’s why Stan tried to drive me away instead of trying to pursue me.”
“I don’t have the faintest idea either, sweetheart,” Ford told me. “Perhaps we should talk to him about it.”
I nodded. “I want to see where his head was at when he decided to do that.”
“Where is it that we’re going again?” Ford asked.
“I think it was one of the art galleries that Mabel wanted the whole family to see,” I told him.
“It would be a nice change of pace, being indoors for once,” he told me.
I raised an eyebrow playfully. “You want to be indoors?”
Ford sighed contentedly. “I’ve actually been meaning to take you to an art gallery or a museum for a while now… you know, just the two of us.”
I smiled. “I’d like that, Ford,” I told him as I kissed his jaw, beginning to run my finger in circles on his chest.
“Wait, where’s my watch? What time is it?” Ford asked.
I turned to grab my phone, and saw that it was nearly eleven thirty. I opened the messages app and texted Mabel.
Me: Mabel hon, when are we going to that art gallery again?
Like lightning, Mabel had texted me in a flash.
Mabel 💜: soon, soon!
Mabel 💜: please tell me you and grunkle ford didn’t forget!
Me: No we didn’t. But what time are we going?
Mabel 💜: we’re leaving at noon!
Me: Thanks hon
“I will never understand the fascination with these instant messaging phones,” Ford said as I laughed. Some of the things he says makes me glad that we’re together.
“C’mon honey, let’s get ready,” I told him. “We’re leaving the hotel at noon.”
Ford nodded, but gave me a squeeze before we both left the bed to get ready. I opted for a sky blue t-shirt and denim shorts that reached my mid thigh, and adidas sneakers.
Ford walked out with his signature sweater and black pants, with his signature black boots that weighed at least thirty pounds. How they were so heavy, I never understood.
“You clean up so nicely, handsome,” I gave him a peck on the cheek.
“As do you, my sweet,” he said, grabbing my waist and pulling me closer. He slipped both of his hands in the back pockets of my shorts.
“Oh? Dr. Pines, are we becoming bolder?”
Ford smirked, which made me rub my thighs together. “Perhaps,” he said in a low voice before we kissed again.
Ugh, he knows that this kissing is gonna make me needy, especially after he smirks. What is he thinking?
I moaned in the kiss before pulling away from him. Ford looked concerned. “What’s wrong, sweetheart? Did you not like it?”
I shook my head. “I liked it too much,” I told him. “And if we don’t leave soon, I’m gonna jump your bones.”
As I turned away from him, Ford closed the distance between us, grabbed me so that my back was flush against his chest and torso, and he faced the both of us towards the mirror that was attached to one of the dressers.
“My sweet girl is so needy…” he whispered in my ear. “Never did I think you’d be such a dirty girl.”
I shivered when he said that.
“You really like my voice, don’t you sweet girl?”
I nodded before biting my lip and looking up at him through the reflection of the mirror.
“Stars above… it’s taking all of my willpower to not take you like this…” he said. “You, pressed against the dresser, taking me so nicely; all while your pretty sensual eyes looking up at me all desperate and needy as I thrust into you, and you cry out my name over and over until it’s the only thing you can muster out of your pretty lips…”
Great. Now I have a wet spot on my panties. I don’t even have to look. I know I have one.
I felt a buzz, and looked down to get my phone. Mabel had texted.
Mabel 💜: We’re all in the lobby.
The time read 11:55. I turned to Ford.
“We should really leave, honey,” I told him.
I heard a low rumbling coming from his chest, but he just gave me one more quick kiss before letting me go, and I gave a sigh of relief.
I never thought Ford would leave me high and wet like this.
We both made our way down through the elevator, holding hands the whole way. The same family from before was waiting for the elevator up, and Ford still kept our hands intertwined.
I’m glad for at least that.
We made our way off of the elevator and into the lobby, where the rest of the family was waiting for us. Mabel was the first to spot us.
“There they are!” Mabel said as she called our names.
“Hello, darling,” Ford greeted her.
“Hi hon.”
“Everyone ready? I hope it’s worth our while,” Stan said.
“Don’t knock it until you try it, Stanley,” Ford told him. “Who knows? You might even enjoy it.”
“Whatever you say, Sixer.” We all made our way to the RV and pulled out of the inn’s parking lot.
Forests of green surrounded us as he drove, the teens speaking excitedly of their plans after the trip was over. Ford and myself… our hands were nearly touching. I felt the warmth radiating from his hands, they were so close. We both enjoyed the closeness of our hands, all while watching the greenery pass by on this hour long trip.
Once we arrived, we entered the art gallery tent, and apparently this particular art gallery is from local artists, mainly Native artists.
We looked around to see authentic and intricately made pottery, elaborate and elegant patterns on blankets, the totem poles that looked quite similar to the one that the Pines family had in their backyard, and multiple exquisite wood masks and sculptures. The art in this gallery was breathtaking. I would pay good money if this were in an art museum.
As we all took a look around and browsed for at least a good hour or so, I turned to see a whimsical and eccentric painting by a native man whose name was uniquely exclusive to his culture.
It was a yellow isosceles triangle with an eye in the middle that had the pupil of a cat. It wore a top hat and a bowtie over the bricks at the bottom of its body with stick thin black arms and legs in the middle of the painting.
Surrounding the bright yellow triangle in a circle was a peculiar zodiac of some kind. Starting at the top right of the circle, it looked like the symbol was a clam with the pearl escaping its mouth, a question mark, a bag of ice, a pine tree, a pair of glasses, a llama, a shooting star, a star with an eye in the middle, a stitched up heart, and… a six fingered hand?
That’s so cool! I have to show Ford— I bet he’ll be so happy to see some representation!
I do have to say… that yellow triangle is a little off putting though.
Maybe it’s just avant-garde art. But it should still be appreciated, no matter how unnerving the piece is!
“Ford!” I called him. He was looking at a wooden sculpted octopus before looking at me.
“Come look at this piece of art!” I told him.
He smiled before coming over towards me. I turned to gesture at the painting.
“Look! The artist included a six fingered hand!” I told him.
“Well, isn’t that… something…”
Once Ford laid his eyes on it, his smile completely melted away. In its wake was a terrified look that completely spread all over his face. Ford began to shake… in fear.
“Ford?” I called. “Ford, what’s wrong?”
“No…” he whispered sharply, nearly whimpering. “I escaped you… Stanley defeated you… How are you back…?”
“Stanford, honey…” I trailed off. “Please talk to me.”
“Get away from him,” Ford said my name, his breathing picking up substantially. “I won’t let him take you from me.”
“Ford, what on earth are you talking about?” I asked.
Mabel, Dipper, and Stan came over to us. “Grunkle Ford, you won’t believe-” Mabel cut herself off once she saw the state that Ford was in. “Grunkle Ford?”
Stan looked beyond us and saw the painting, then turned his gaze to his brother. “Come on, Ford! Snap out of it! Bill is gone!”
Who is this Bill character? This is the second time I heard of him!
Wait a second… is that perturbing yellow triangle… Bill?
“He’s here…!” Ford said. “And he’s gonna take her away from me!”
“Grunkle Ford, she’s with us!” Dipper told him. “She’s not going anywhere! Like Grunkle Stan said, Bill is dead.”
I stepped up, held Ford’s hand and squeezed it tightly. “I’m here, honey,” I told him. “I’m not leaving you. I’m right here.”
Ford’s breathing began to slow down, and he began to regulate his breathing again. As he is normally calm and collected… whatever that yellow triangle did to him really messed him up.
My poor man.
“You’re… you’re okay,” Ford said, looking at me.
I smiled. “And so are you, Stanford,” I reassured him. “You’re safe. You’re with us, your family.”
Ford sighed before taking another deep breath. “I’m… okay…”
“That you are, Sixer. You ain’t gettin’ rid of us so easily!” Stan said, seamlessly cutting some of the tension with his joke.
We all chuckled as we sighed. “What do ya say we get out of here? I think I had enough art for today,” Stan said.
We all nodded. “Let me get my girlfriends,” Mabel said as she sped away to find her friends.
“I’ll get Wendy and Tambry,” Dipper said as he walked away to find his friends.
“Let’s get you back to the hotel, Stanford,” Stan told his brother as he patted him on the back.
With my hand engulfed in his, we walked out of the art gallery to the RV, where Dipper, Mabel and their friends were waiting for us. We wordlessly got inside, and Stan began driving us back to the hotel, with the teens’ chatter as background noise. The whole time, Stanford held my hand while looking down at our joined hands. Although he was looking at them, it seemed like his mind was miles and miles away.
What on earth happened between this Bill character and my man?
We arrived back at the hotel about an hour and a half later. We got some slushies on the way back.
I could tell the kiddos wanted to ask Ford how he was doing, but he didn’t talk to them, or even his twin brother. He just took my hand, and led us to our room. Once he opened the door, he let go of my hand and let me in.
Once I entered our room, I took my shoes off and flopped onto the couch. Ford closed it and locked the door. He then made his way towards me, flopping on the couch and wrapped his arms around me like a vine wrapping around a pole, and he buried his face in my chest before letting out a stressful sigh before sobbing.
Good God, what the hell happened?! What did this Bill character do to him?!
I wrapped my arms around him, stroking his hair as he kept sobbing into my chest. I tried to tell him comforting things, which seemed to help a little, even though he kept sobbing.
“I’m here for you, Stanford,” I told him as I kissed his forehead. “Always.”
Eventually, his sobs turned into sniffles as I continually caressed his hair and kissed his forehead. After some time passed, Ford parted from me, his glasses splashed with his tears, and snot running down his face. I went to get some tissues for him, and once I returned, Ford grabbed a few before noisily blowing his nose.
While he cleaned himself up, I gave him a look of sadness. “I’m so sorry, Stanford,” I told him. “Had I known what Bill looked like… I would have never shown that painting to you.”
Ford shook his head as he took his glasses off and began cleaning them. “There’s no way you could have known,” he said my name. “And I feel like it’s about time I told you about my ties to that… thing.”
I gave him a look of pity. “You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to,” I told him.
Ford shook his head. “No, it’s important you know,” he said. “The more knowledge you have on Bill, the better equipped you will be if he ever decides to come back.”
“Well… okay,” I told him. “As long as you’re comfortable with telling me.”
He nodded before beginning. “I was attempting to uncover why Gravity Falls was such a hotspot for weirdness, and every avenue I took led me to a dead end. Our interactions started when I found the same zodiac on the wall of a cave. There was an inscription that invoked Bill into our world. What the inscription said… I cannot recall, but it’s for the best.”
I hummed. “I’m glad you don’t remember it,” I told him.
“I wrote it down in one of my journals, but I don’t recall which one it was,” he told me. “Nevertheless, once I read the inscription aloud… nothing happened. I thought it was yet another dead end, so I left the cave, and journeyed back home. I was feeling rather tired on my way back, so I decided to stop for a nap. That was when that conniving, Machiavellian creature revealed himself to me.”
“Oh goodness…”
“He knew all the right things to say. He knew my weaknesses, the exact way to prey on me… I was open and vulnerable, and he took advantage. To my everlasting shame, I thought that this was what friendship was truly like.”
“Oh Ford…”
“He claimed that he was a muse, who looked for the brightest minds of the century, and would help them in their quest to advance society,” Ford told me as he let out a bitter chuckle. “Stars above, how I couldn’t have been more naïve, and quite frankly, stupid.”
“Don’t say that, Ford,” I told him. “You’re not stupid at all!”
“It was something an imbecile would fall for,” he told me.
“Would you say the same thing to a young woman who was played by her first boyfriend?” I asked. When he looked down, I knew my answer. “So don’t call yourself stupid, or an imbecile. You were naïve, yes, and you were gullible. Everyone is like that when they’re young. Heaven above knows I was naïve and gullible when I was younger, too.”
Ford sighed before nodding. “You’re right, sweetheart.”
“I know,” I responded cutely.
Ford gave a genuine amused chuckle before continuing. “He promised to help me crack the Grand Unified Theory of Weirdness, and… I believed him. Especially when it comes to building a portal to another dimension.”
I nodded slowly, beckoning him to continue. This thing had him build a portal?
“At first, everything was great. He was charismatic, charming, and cunning. At one point, I had isolated myself from everyone and had believed that Bill was my only friend. The one friend that I did have tried to convince me that I didn’t need that theory to become somebody famous, that I could publish a paper with all of my greatest discoveries in Gravity Falls,” he told me. “My pride in my youth was my downfall. For certain things, it is still my bane to this day. I didn’t listen to my best friend then, and it cost him dearly. He gave up so much for me, and… I can never give him his time or sanity back. It’s all my fault.”
I reached for his hand and he gladly took it. Ford sighed before continuing.
“Anyway… after building that portal and testing it for the first time, my assistant and best friend, Fiddleford, fell in with the test dummy we made to send into the portal. I was able to grab hold of him and bring him back, but… he had changed,” he told me, continuing in a low voice that dripped with humiliation. “I will never live down the shame of what I’ve done to him.”
“What happened?” I asked.
“He saw into a new dimension… the nightmare dimension that Bill was trying to make me open up. He wanted to spill his dimension into mine via the portal. The things I saw during my time there… was horrendous, to say the least,” Ford said. “I wouldn’t wish that my worst enemy would end up there.”
“You’ve… been in that realm?” I asked.
Ford nodded, his expression heavy with fatigue and another emotion I couldn’t quite place. “For thirty years of my life, it was where I lived. I traversed multiple dimensions, the physics changing with each one. Although some laws of physics would be considered to be paradoxical in our dimension, it made complete sense in that dimension. Traveling along them made my head spin, my sanity plummet and steeled my emotions. Not only that… I was also a known criminal in multiple dimensions.”
I raised an eyebrow. “You? A criminal?”
Ford scratched the back of his head. “It was for an important cause.”
“Wait, wait,” I said. “So how did you end up in the portal in the first place?”
“With my sanity nearly depleted as Bill continued to isolate me, and now that Fiddleford no longer wanted to speak with me, I decided to turn my troubles to my brother…” he spoke with a certain darkness in his voice.
“...What happened?”
“We didn’t get along back then, and the reason why is a story for another time,” he told me. “But we exchanged words, I struck a nerve, and we began to fight.”
“What did you fight about?”
“I tasked Stanley with taking one of my journals to the ends of the earth where no one would find it. However… because of our rocky relationship, he said that I was pushing him away after ten years of not seeing each other. He was going to get rid of it, but not in the way I wished him to do so,” he said, sighing while raking a hand through his hair. “Due to my mindless words and actions, we began to fight over the book. I accidentally burned Stan when I kicked him off of me during our tussle, and burned one of the symbols from my lab on his right shoulder.”
I had a sad look in my eyes. “So that’s what it was from… I wondered what his tattoo meant.”
“Our physical altercation led us back towards the portal, where Stanley had pushed me towards it. By this time, the portal was activated, and I felt myself being lifted up and towards the portal, as if it were a black hole sucking me in. In a panic, I asked Stan to do something to help,” he said, his eyes downcast. “Stanley took thirty years out of his life to bring me back… and it’s a debt I can never repay. I owe him for bringing me back.”
“Oh, Stanford…” I told him.
“I called him selfish,” Ford told me. “But in reality, it was me who was the selfish one. I couldn’t be there for my brother when he needed me. Stanley was the one who got me back to our home dimension. Stanley was the one who defeated Bill… my abuser. Stan was always there for me, and stood up for me… but I was too busy in my own head to see it.”
“You see it now,” I told him. “I see how much you appreciate him.”
“You must think I’m a loser,” he told me. “I wouldn’t blame you if you wanted to end this.”
“Stanford, no!” I told him, grabbing both of his hands. “Because you made mistakes, you think I want to end our relationship?”
Ford sighed. “Perhaps you might want someone who doesn’t have heavy baggage like I do.”
“But they wouldn’t be you, Stanford,” I told him. “I want you. Not some rando off the street, but you.”
Ford said my name.
“You’ve grown so much since thirty years have passed, Stanford,” I told him. “You’re not blaming your brother for any of this, you don’t seem to have any bitterness towards him because of this… so you’ve grown. To me, it seems like you’re recalling a difficult time in your life, so it would obviously cause you some pain, but you have grown from it.”
Ford smiled as he took my hands in his. “What did I do to deserve you, sweetheart?”
I smiled. “You were good, and still are good.”
“I will adore you until the day I die,” Ford told me as we hugged.
“Enough with the talk of dying and other dreary topics,” I told him as we parted. “I’m here now, and I want to enjoy our time together as much as possible.”
Ford and I parted slightly as we tenderly kissed. We both pulled away and smiled.
“I definitely concur, my sweetheart.”
I checked my phone to see multiple messages on my phone from our family.
Dipper: Is Grunkle Ford okay?
Dipper: Is he alright? Are you both okay?
Dipper: Well, whenever you’re able, text one of us back, please.
Stan: Are you and Ford okay?
Stan: Well whenever you and Ford respond we’ll be waiting.
Mabel 💜: is Grunkle Ford okay?
Mabel 💜: please respond
Mabel 💜: i’m getting really worried now
Mabel 💜: please, say something, anything
Mabel 💜: c’mon please text back i’m really starting to freak out now
That last text was only a minute ago, so I decided to respond to her.
Me: Your great uncle’s okay hon. He just needed some space to process his feelings
Mabel sent a lightning fast text back.
Mabel 💜: thank goodness!
I sent similar messages to Dipper and Stan, and they responded alike to Mabel’s message.
I also didn’t realize that it was already 6:30. We got back to the hotel around four, so it was surprising to see that it was 6:30 already.
Dipper: Do you both want to grab some dinner with us? We’re getting pizza.
I looked at Ford, who gave me a curious look in return. “They’re getting pizza for dinner,” I told him. “Do you want to come, or do you want me to bring something back for you?”
Ford sighed and shook his head. “I feel so drained, sweetheart,” he told me. “But I would appreciate it if you brought back a slice or two.”
I smiled as I gave him one last hug before we parted. “Don’t wait up for me, handsome. You can sleep if you need it,” I told him, kissing his cheek as I stood up.
“My hunger might awaken me,” he told me.
I smiled as he held onto my hand before kissing my knuckles and then let my hand go. I got my bag, my phone and my keys and left. I decided to text Dipper before I went down.
Me: Wait for me. I’m coming down
Dipper, being the extremely fast texter he is, responded back.
Dipper: Okay, we’re in the lobby.
I figured as much as I made my way to the lobby, and there was Mabel, Dipper, their friends and Stan.
“Oh, there she is!” Dipper said.
“Everybody ready?” Stan asked.
We all nodded as Stan went to meet the ubers that were actually delivering the pizza, and they also gave us some paper plates and napkins.
There were two types, but I think Ford just wanted plain cheese, so I got that for him.
As the teens conversed, I decided to wish them and Stan goodnight. I didn’t feel comfortable with leaving Ford alone for too long.
I made my way up to our room again, and Ford was on the couch, sleeping. A nature documentary he must have found was on in the background.
He did look rather cute when he slept.
I kissed his forehead, and placed the two slices of pizza in the fridge. I changed into my pajamas and started eating my own two slices while he slept. We eventually woke up, and kissed my temple.
“Thank you, sweetheart,” he said, sleepily taking one of my slices of pepperoni and sausage.
“Excuse me sir,” I told him playfully. “But that’s my slice.”
We both laughed as we watched the nature documentary together, and he heated up his own pizza. He gave me one of his plain cheese slices for taking one of my pizza slices.
“You know,” he started. “I’m going to miss the two of us sharing one room.”
I raised an eyebrow. “You know we can still do that once we head back to Gravity Falls,” I told him.
“We can?”
“I’m not sure how well it’ll work out with your home,” I started. “But I live alone, and you know it gets lonely at night sometimes…”
Stanford smirked which made me giggle. “You naughty little minx.”
I love moments like these with him. It feels like it's just the two of us in the world, and it’s everything to me.
