If anything turns me into a massive killjoy it's fanon interpretation of avengers in fgo. Like I'll see this wonderful post about how Ritsuka manages to break down the barriers intrinsic with someone so filled with rage their entire being, and inwardly I'm like 'That's impossible to happen in the format they show to us! You are being won over with the idea of something you made up and praising something that doesn't exist!' Someone who is so enraged with humanity that they lose their own should not reasonably be able to become soft little woobies within a single event or interlude, but because it's a gacha game and people want their precious little helltaker to love them specifically, people are fine with completely ignoring how brushed over the class is.
The fact that this supposedly super dangerous, rare, and volatile class is so easily summoned and managed is a flaw, it cheapens the whole point of the avenger class.
I don't want to argue with anyone on the posts themselves because that's just a dick-move, but for once I want there to be an avenger that lives up to the name for more than 5 seconds.

Playing through Pokemon Sapphire and it just so happens that every single member of my time besides my starter is a girl, so in my head I'm just charging towards Team Aqua like this:

It maxes out because X-Men writers would rather drag down every other super-hero, even though it's been a major part of Captain America's personality that he is distinctly anti-racism, and would openly and proudly be showing support for Mutants.
The Avengers do become extra 'cop-ish' when they're in an X-book. Of course, things changed during the Krakoa era (who knows how long it'll last), but thhat's the general status quo. Still, Cap has never been a 'moderate' sort of character. If he disagrees with the government, then he'll act out. That's just how he's always been. It feels like the same mischaracterization of Cyclops being a 'by the book goody-two-shoes' that hasn't been true for a long time.
Like, seeing Captain America instantly go 'oh, well sorry I can't make a stand with mutants' in X-Men 97' was... a choice.
I mean, he did help, he gave Rogue information pertaining to OZT, but he wasn't willing to get hands on about it, which felt really out of character. Especially regarding recent comic portrayals, this is the man who brought back the Uncanny Avengers to avenge mutants after the Hellfire Gala massacre and proudly stand with them, regardless of any sort of 'controversy'. So you'd expect a similar stance after 97's Genosha and... nothing. Just some exposition and him not wanting to cross any lines.
It happens in Hulk books too when he's not part of the team, the Avengers sort of fall into 'government bootlicker' territory that stop caring about people who they've known for years. I remember that the Avengers in Immortal Hulk actually kind of pissed me off.
I mean, the season isn't over, so I'd want the Avengers to show up for their mutant friends if even just for a little bit.

most infuriating part about the reconstruction era South was how unbelievably unwilling they were to do anything. Even up until in the 1960s there was nothing but southern white supremacist dragging their feet and throwing a tantrum every time people tried to put in policies that didn't have black people treated as less than human
It was literally up to a point that southerners who supported such extremist thoughts as "black suffrage" were called scallywags, and traitors to the nation. They genuinely seemed to believe that treating black men as anything more than slaves below a white man, was more than they deserved, and of course the north was happy to agree. Ever hear of the reconstruction act of 1867? It was the first of four acts set fourth to try and promote racial equality in the south, and you wanna know who tried to veto it? Andrew Johnson (not Jackson), the literal president of the United States fought tooth and nail to try and curb these practices.
If there was a shitty government, it's because Lincoln made the mistake of choosing him as his vice president. Initially it was a decent enough idea to pick a south sympathesizing vice president to show there were no hard feelings to the south, but then Lincoln got assassinated. So all there was was Andrew Johnson, making reconstruction as useless as possible.
Any regulations were nearly completely worthless, and of course only supervised by other whites, so you had stuff like state laws that said "sure you're not a slave anymore, but you're gonna get paid and worked like one"
Even as Black people finally got the right to vote, they were blamed by the south for doing such heinous things as voting for "governors who actually cared about giving them restitution for *being enslaved*" and this woe is me attitude continued all throughout reconstruction.
Ever hear of 'Birth of a Nation'? It's one of the most famous American movies, directly stated as such by the US government at the time, and also happens to be extremely racist and glorify this little known group known as the Ku-Klux-Klan. As criticized as they are now (and as they should be!) they were practically praised during the time period, for so nobley lynching those "dark-skinned savages, raping our innocent white women", and fighting against the aggressive north infringing the south's way of life.
Honestly the worst part about reconstruction era America was that eventually, the South won! Good ol President Hayes decided that failing to force the south to stop discriminating against black people wasn't working out, and decided to more or less officially end reconstructive attempts and try and unite the two divisions of America. Logistically this might have been seen as a good idea, but as the South was given a less firm watch, this directly led to Jim Crowe Laws
Suffrage? Forget about it, technically black people can vote sure, they just gotta answer this shit
Tumblr media
Technically this is getting past reconstruction era, but it's as a direct result of the failure of it, and you can tell. They're not even trying to be subtle in weeding out the "less educated" people just trying to vote for a better future. And this happens with all manners of other things, jobs, segregation, all of it time and time again "technically" being allowed because it's easier than stopping them.
I could go on for more, but this is already pretty messy as is.
quick, you're being put in front of an audience and you have to give a lecture on literally any topic! you don't have to make it structured or even give context, you can just yell and rant into the mic for an hour! what is your topic of choice?
ACH, I'm going to be honest I meant to reply to this earlier but completely forgot
If I had to rant about anything it would probably be... Reconctruction era America, civil war is a bit to overdone to rant about without just devolving into sherman-posting. There's a lot to talk about when it comes to reconstitution era policies, and how even well intended policies went awry or weren't properly enforced.
In terms of something more fun... I could rant about about the fairies in lb6 in fact, did not deserve to die, and people are just looking for an easy target when they say so

shout out to all my not traditionally masculine trans guys:
to the ones who don’t feel comfortable calling themselves a man, so they’re always guys, dudes, or boys
to the ones who still love their old “girl” clothes, the skirts and dresses and bright colors
to the ones who love makeup and nail polish and perfume
to the ones who dont bind or dont pack; to the ones who like having the chests and junk they already have
to the ones who dont want hormones or surgeries
to the ones who shave their legs or dont like body and facial hair; to the ones who still have long hair
to the femboys and the fairies and the girlyboys
to the ones who have a high ambiguous voice and like it that way
to the ones with weird genders, complicated genders, fluid genders, non-conforming genders, genders they take so seriously, genders they can’t be bothered with
i love you so much <3 you are men after my own heart <3

I get mad at this every so often but I think back to the ending of Salem, and I am just floored by how dumb it is. There is this literal child, 12 year old girl, who is all kinds of messed up and going through trauma, and is given a chance to just be a normal child and live a normal life
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And instead of going "Yes literal child, you deserve to have a normal life" we fucking, put the decision up to what she thinks is best, and make this little girl feel obligated to let the spirit of an elder god continue to possess her. She could have lived a happy life in 2014 Norway, but instead we have to deal with her occasionally trapping us in a dream realm and trying to kill us, because we let an Eldritch god possess her. It's so dumb
