Libraries
Went to the library today and they didn't have a single book on wind band music, or about Robert w smith or Paul Hart. What is life? Did get a book about the LSO though :)

Ideas on Commentary :)
Just picked (hopefully) the pieces for my Advanced Higher a music Commentary. Thinking of Inchon and In a Gentle Rain both by Robert W Smith. Thoughts anyone?

Last night was the last wee summer concert with our section. Team claz will live forever. I wasn't crying because I'll our SL but because we'll never play together again. We've been through so much. Love you guys.

So I got my timetable out for S6 today (a day early because I have my dream uni open day tomorrow, what a shame missing my last ever "first day" ) and I've discovered that as well as having last period on a Friday afternoon free, 19 out of my 32 periods are to be spent in the music department. Hellas yes :D

She got the G!!!!
Hey guys! You know it's been a good practice when 6 hours later you still feel indentation marks on your gums :P Today was really productive, not only did I look over all my band stuff and learn a 4 page movement in a day, I also managed to get out a top g! With no sweat! Oh yeah! It's the one above above the stave, so high it's practically a squeak. Or 'harmonic' :P anyway, as I'm upping my lessons as of Monday, I should possibly do loads tomorrow. But hey, it's not work, it's life. And not in a c'est la vie way :)

Tis the Last exam today!
Today I have my last Higher exam of S5. It's been an emotional year, but now that I will be free as of 4pm tonight... I can uber practice! Yesterday: Clarinet: now fluent with 'quick brown fox' so ran that a few times, done a few more lines of study 24, went over mvt 3 of the Tartini concertino and tried Allegro by Devienne Bass Clari: learned the ostinato bit in 'Stevie Wonder in concert' Piano: had my lesson! So got new scales to do and extended the lh in Kaverlerskiia In other news: my dad spoke to my clarinet teacher who thinks I should take up sax! It was her husband who started to teach me clarinet, but he's a sax guy at heart, so hopefully I'll get lessons off of him in school in the new term in August (he's trying to find one for me to borrow over summer to teach myself a bit) and still get clari lessons off of her, and I can be in the school's jazz band and I can put it on my CV and uni form and I'm just quite excited :D

Instruments and Computers
So there's a fault with my laptop which means that if i close the lid when it's on it squeaks like mad, and my dad thought it was an instrument that i had taken home for the weekend and not told him about. Gawd.

Studying
Because listening to instrumental music is so much better than lyrical music. Even when you're not studying.

Update
So. Practice...
Well i've been away last weekend at a family Christening. I wasn't allowed to take my clarinet. Then now it's exam season and i'm so stressed i've lost a stone in weight, and my skin's breaking out. Then this weekend i had a band weekend for our upcoming concert and CD, but i play bass so my little Bb has been left rejected for the last week and a half. And Monday is lesson day. So today between studying for my History exam i practised for half an hour. Legit. I had hardly even warmed up when my break was over. So i went to my lesson, having a mild panic attack about how crappy i was going to be. So then my teacher (who's also my band conductor) starts going on about how well i played bass when i was setting up. And then i done a quick warm up and started playing. And holy crap, it was good. It was my first time doing grade 7 pieces, and even then i hadn't played in over a week. And she thought i had done nothing but practice all study leave. I swear, i walked out her house and i was properly happy. So now she's given me even more things to do for next week. So tomorrow i have an exam and a hospital appointment at 2, then i have band at 3:50. Hopefully i can get some time on the bass (if anyone's ever played windows of the world at the 6/8 bass clarinet part, you will feel my pain) before band starts. God, i love practice :D
