so true, floyd and jamil will compete on literally anything. they will start competitions without even speaking a word, they just know. they'll compete by racing or who can eat something quicker or how can shoot more baskets. or even who's the better kisser, they keep doing this one to see if they will yield different results. they never actually know the winner for that one.

weekly flojami headcannons #13

♡ floyd likes shoes. jamil knows this. and because of this, jamil thought it would make a good gift. apparently, gift giving is quite the tradition among mermaids.

between family, between friends, and between lovers. jamil has observed the way jade eagerly gifts floyd and azul terrariums, and floyd sometimes gives them carefully decorated desserts, and azul will sometimes sneak extra coins from his collection into his pockets.

outside of their trio though, they’re quite hesitant to give others gifts. it’s certain people, jamil has noticed. on occasion, floyd will buy ace snacks from the vending machine, or azul will proudly give riddle a packet of handmade strawberry tarts.

recently, floyd has been giving gifts to jamil nonstop. it was usually small stuff, like food, hair accessories, bracelets, jackets, and on one particular instance, a somewhat shabbily handsewn tiny eel plush. “it’s me!” floyd had said very proudly when he had given it to jamil. said eel now sits on jamil’s bed on its own special pillow, but floyd didn’t need to know that.

a lot of small gifts were still lots of gifts, and jamil wanted to give back in some way. so shoes. it was something floyd liked. easy, right? wrong! jamil was sat scrolling through 15 different shoe stores trying to figure out what shoes floyd might like better. sneakers? dress shoes? hell, sandals?! (un)fortunately, while jamil was struggling, kalim took notice and decided to help jamil by buying. one shoe. from. every. site.

floyd was quite overjoyed, grinning bit and wide, and very excitedly opening every shoe. he had given jamil a kiss as a thank you, which in turn had frozen jamil on the spot.

“ah, jamil, shall i offer you an ailment for your illness” azul so terribly said from his side. jade so helpfully added, “yes, you seem quite love sick”

jamil was going to strangle them. after he was done watching floyd gush over every shoe.

♡ beach days were such a hassle to pack for. but, well, floyd always got so giddy about them, so jamil supposed he didn't mind that hassle.

on rare days were they both happen to be free of responsibilities and it was warm enough, floyd and jamil liked visiting the beach. they found a small hidden away beach surrounded by tall rocks at the edge of the isle of sages that they both quite liked to visit, it was empty, a perfect spot for just the two of them. there was plenty to do on a beach day. such as building sand castles, which tended to turn into a competition of who could build a better one which always ended turning into who can destroy the other's castle quicker. they also had picnics, with a mixture of foods made by the two of them. and of course, they could swim. well, usually floyd was the one swimming while jamil sat at the shore and watched. it was a nice view. oh, right, the horizon looked nice too he supposed. on one particular beach day they had snuck out at night, and floyd had wrapped his tail around jamil's waist and dragged him down. jamil didnt have time to even think, but soon he was underwater and a mermaid was kissing him. if he returned back to is dorm and proceeded to dream about that for the next couple of weeks, well, that was no one's business but his own.

weekly flojami headcannon #11 - the ace special!

♡ ace's seniors were acting weird! well...they were always weird. floyd and jamil were very...unique...people, to put it kindly. he supposed he shouldn't judge them too harshly, everyone at nrc was pretty weird. but this week they were especially weird!

floyd would giggle all weirdly when jamil told him stuff, jamil kept walking into lockers because floyd blew kisses at him, floyd would freeze when jamil leaned over to lean on him, and jamil would walk straight into the basketball net pole when floyd winked at him from the bleachers. it was awful! and they blushed so often that ace was suspecting maybe some weird fever was amiss. whatever, he didn't care. however, he ended up easily discovering why. unfortunately. he had left his phone in his gym locker, but when he got there he caught sight of floyd in jamil's lap and nope! enough! that was even worse! ace whipped around so fast he almost gave himself whiplash. at least he solved the mystery on their weirdness. he kinda wish he hadn't.

meanwhile, jamil let go, eyes widening while floyd fell backwards to the floor. floyd laughed loudly and so hard he teared up while jamil reprimanded him. “i told you we shouldn’t kiss in the locker room!”

♡ floyd was never one for love. his parents were always so obnoxiously lovey-dovey to each other, that floyd made a bad habit of relating romantics to disgust. however, jamil made him change his mind.

in fact, floyd thinks he gets it now. he totally gets why his parents love to gift each other things so often. seeing jamil's reactions to each gift was always so fun. floyd quite liked jamil. azul seemed okay with it, giving him a quick congrats before, as expected, skipping to try and convince floyd to use this as a way to get jamil to join octavinelle. lame! however, azul was pretty helpful when it came to finding nice recipes or pretty locations. kalim helped too, surprisingly, but he knew all the types of music jamil liked and the types of pens jamil preferred. however, it wasn't till he overheard his brother drop a handful of papers by the gym that he realized he had completely forgot to tell someone. he didn't expect jade to care so much. his brother would say, "ah, it's alright" while actively biting his lip in anger as azul giggled in the background. it wasn't till the mall, after jade's very obnoxious following that he opened his phone to type. F: dude. he's not gonna murder me or whatever. it's fine. Jade L.: I know. floyd stared at jade, tilting his head curiously as his brother frowned. he could practically see the gears turning in jade's head. floyd giggled, being quick to type. F: I love him, you know. and after a moment, he got a reply. Jade L.: I see. floyd gave jade a big grin, enough to make jade laugh softly. 'if that’s the case, please invite me to your wedding. you must partake on mermaid customs, i insist' was the last message jade send him, which was enough to make floyd burst out laughing. he quickly snatched jamil's hand in his and pulled him to explore more stores in the mall area. maybe floyd can bribe azul to keep jade away from the boat but, well, watching jamil fall into the water sounded fun. marrying jamil sounded fun.
