Hello! So I'm still not sure if Bella will be changing federations or not. I think some of us here know who her partner is but I won't say his name before Bella goes public (also I could be wrong!). But will she represent France now? Any guesses on who her partner is? Let's discuss!

I was looking at the figure skating subreddit and the amount of hate they hold towards Bella is disturbing to see. It’s just unfair and misogynistic the way they discuss her. There were people saying that Bella “enabled” Vanya to allegedly do what he’s been accused of by partnering with him which is so illogical and they want her to make a statement about everything despite her already making a statement months ago where she said she’s respecting due process and therefore won’t address any speculation/hate/questions. They are also mad at her for still supporting and being close with him and I honestly don’t see why they would expect something different. He’s family to her, of course she’s going to want to stand by him, and also have they thought about how she’s likely privy to a lot more information about that case than they are and maybe has more legitimate reasons as to why she and her family are supportive of him? We don’t know anything, only stuff from one side. I don’t get why it’s so hard for them to put themselves in her shoes and offer some grace. They don’t treat other skaters in similar situations the same way and even before all of this they’ve been weird towards her. Sorry for this super long ask, I’m annoyed and had to vent.

Gonna use this ask to say that reddit thread is not the best place to look for positive comments. They rarely say good things about skaters and a lot of is just people's opinions and like 10% helpful information.

I have such conflicted feelings. On one hand I am super happy that Bella is able to continue skating but on the other hand I’m really sad that it’s not with Vanya 😭. Forever will be mourning what BV were and what could have been.

I feel the same tbh, which is okay! We're allowed to mourn for them a bit. Especially since they were just getting started ✨

I would suggest to everyone though to allow Bella to move on on her socials. Don't fill her comments section with mentions of Vanya. Remember this is the nature of ice dance, people change partners all the time. It might hurt them and it might hurt us but imagine someone kept asking you about your ex everytime you saw them? Wouldn't you feel uncomfortable?

That being said, this blog will remain a space to relive B&V's partnership 🤍 if I do decide to post about Bella's new partner at some point, I do hope everyone respects that decision.

I think that going forward, Bella is making the focus of her social media about herself and her activities and less about her partnership, even if she gets a new one or not. As much as it makes me sad that her and Vanya’s skating partnership is done, at least for now I guess, I don’t really see what other option she has other than to move forward and explore new opportunities. Otherwise she could miss out on many competition seasons. It’s unclear how long Vanya could remain suspended for, I mean it could be years, and there’s been no progress so far even after like 6 months. Though that’s a whole other topic of discussion for another day…but I’m sure many have looked into all of that.

She proved that socmed engagement could help you with sponsorships in the sport and I hope her particular case doesn't discourage other skaters from following her example but for now at least keeping it about her is a good choice. In the future perhaps she'll just make a team account with her new partner, like many others do.

I think that was Vanya just skating around with friends during a public skate. He’s not allowed to train or compete currently.

It's nice to see him on the ice again, not gonna lie. I don't know how his future with figure skating looks like but I think he could be a good coach.

so Vanya has a new partner? i thought he was banned from competing - am i misunderstanding that?

I don't know if he does. I really don't think he does considering he's still suspended (as far as I know). I only know that he's no longer in Bella's bio on IG which leads me to believe she's looking for a new partner and she's in France. That's all I know.

I hope the move means an end to Bella and WASA’s relationship. They have done her DIRTY from even the most outside of outside perspectives. Proud of her for moving forward.

I don't even know how WASA ice dance will save face in general. Also I do think a change in coaching could help Bella. Maybe even a change in federation? We did talk about that in October, if she could change it to Germany because of her birthplace but it was dismissed (I think?). Well, at the very least it is a change in scenery and she did love France when she went there for JGP so I'm still happy for her whether it's a permanent move or not.

I had heard rumors of Bella trying out with different people for a few months now so I kinda knew this would eventually happen, but it’s still upsetting cause I loved them together. I also only had gotten interested in ice dance because of them, there was just something really special about them that drew me in. They still seem supportive of each other though, they were skating outdoors together and Vanya was filming her videos all up until she left for France, so I’m assuming they’ll still stay connected in their personal lives.

We'll always have that West Side Story free dance 🥹 but it sucks not knowing how far they could've gone together.
