"IT WAS ONLY SUPPOSED TO BE A ONESHOT!!!" i scream, desperately clawing at the floor, as the fic drags me back into The Depths to continue writing against my will for the rest of eternity

affirmations for writers: i know how to write. i have seen sentences before, and i know how to make one. i can identify up to several words and their meanings. i am not afraid of semicolons.

I just think people write out of obligation too often.
"How do I motivate myself to write through the boring part of my story?"
"How do I make this boring scene not boring?"
Don't write it.
Don't write boring things just because you think the structure of the story demands it. I promise it doesn't need to be there.
If your characters need to have gone shopping for a later part of the story to make sense you can just have a sentence about how they went shopping and move on.
You are not obligated to write the boring parts. No matter what those parts are.
You are not obligated to make the parts of your story that you're not excited to write interesting somehow.
You can just write the fun and interesting parts and gloss over and summarize boring things.
Your audience will thank you and you will thank yourself.

bought a packer for the first time ever, which is exciting, but I'm a little scared to take it out of the packet because why does it look a bit like uncooked meat

I hate when someone has an extremely wrong opinion but it's about something stupid like a fandom headcanon so i can't and don't want to say anything because they're allowed to have their extremely wrong and bad opinion

now and then i see a take that starts out interesting and I'm like ooh okay awesome, let's see where this goes! what's your solution to this problem? and then their solution is just. the most unprogressive questionable weird thing ever that makes me wonder if the post was satire except it Wasn't
#several examples of this but#i recently saw a post about how it's unfair that#men get told they age well naturally whereas women have to put in work to maintain themselves or smth#like sure ok i figured the solution would be let's not be ageist and older people are beautiful etc etc#but no... op unironically said all men are ugly and need to start getting hair transplants and plastic surgery after the age of 35#???#i am still baffled#how do you go from point A to point Z like that#anyway...#rhett rants
