How Tai Chi Changes Us
This Tai Chi video discusses how the martial art transforms us mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. It explains how Tai Chi's flowing movements relax the body and change our chemistry to give us more options to respond to challenges with grace and ease instead of just the fight or flight response or with anxiety.
Susan Thompson Tai Chi reflects on how 10 years ago she would have struggled with a very difficult situation, but with her kung fu inspired Tai Chi practice she handled it skillfully in the moment by reducing her stress response. She credits the art for rewiring her nervous system so she has a bigger repertoire of responses.
Additional topics covered include:- Learning about ourselves through kind, non-judgmental movement- Reducing negative self-talk - Increasing body awareness and fascial release for better posture- Boosting confidence and reducing self-blame- Going beyond pain relief and improved balance into deeper personal transformation Physical manifestations of internal changes from practicing Tai Chi and Qigong - Increased Qi flow through the body which promotes natural healing- Experiencing ongoing progress in your kung fu, tai chi and qigong practiceThis motivational talk explains both the tangible and intangible benefits of committed Tai Chi and Qigong practice for positive self-growth and reduced anxiety.

Description:
Join Susan Thompson Tai Chi instructor, in this enlightening video as she delves into the profound practice of mindfulness and spatial awareness within the realm of Tai Chi and Qigong. Discover the nuanced difference between merely looking and truly being aware as Susan leads you through a series of exercises designed to deepen your understanding and exploration of the space around you. Drawing on insightful analogies involving lentils, driving, and personal experiences, Susan makes the concepts accessible and applicable to your Tai Chi and Qigong practice.
Towards the end of the video, witness a practical demonstration of these concepts as Susan, with the assistance of a partner, applies the principles to Tai Chi postures and exercises including Tai Chi push hands. Learn how this shift in awareness can make your Tai Chi and Qigong more enjoyable and effective, elevating your mastery of these ancient Chinese martial arts.
The journey doesn't end there; Susan takes you into more complex concepts surrounding awareness of spaces inside the body, providing a holistic understanding of mindful movement. Connecting Heaven and Earth in Tai Chi; Align your PostureIn this step-by-step video, learn the most important thing for tai chi and qigong - connecting from your feet to the crown of your head, also known in Tai Chi as Connecting Heaven and Earth. Proper posture and alignment with rooted movement are essential for getting the most out of your tai chi and qigong practice as well as increasing your life energy or your Qi (Chi). First, stand with your feet shoulder-width apart. Feel your connection from the soles of your feet to the floor. Next, feel the crown of your head and imagine you are gently holding up the sky. Maintain this energetic connection from feet to head like a spring loaded curtain rod. As you begin to flow through tai chi or qigong movements, pour your weight down to root into the earth. Yet at the same time, keep space through each vertebrae of your spine and connect upward ever so slightly through the crown of the head, a key meridian point in our body (in Chinese this point is called the Bai Hui). This creates stability and mobility for a mindful, centered practice and helps to open meridian points throughout the body for life energy to flow.  Additionally we can channel the magnetic and electrical energy from the earth through our body, while receiving the same through the top of our head.  This creates a circulation of energy called cosmic energy or circling the cosmos or cosmic circulation or orbit.  Learn how to deepen your stance, align your body, and move from your center for optimal energy flow. Activate your powerhouse with this easy qigong exercise to enhance your form. Gain insight on proper tai chi and qigong techniques to improve your practice. Keywords:tai chi, qigong, alignment, posture, stance, rooted movement, energy flow, energy work, mindfulness, meditation, connecting heaven and earth, heaven and earth in oneness, cosmic circulation, moving qi, circulating qi, tai chi stance, align your posture, rootedness in tai chi
