THE SUGAR WITCH
"Frost, did you hear me?"
Jack jerked from his own thoughts and looked at his teacher, Miss Bellamy pointing at her board.
"Y-Yes ma'am. Sorry I--"
"Then would you please come up and solve the arithmatic problem."
Jack swallowed, but forced a smile.
"Yes, certainly."
He stood from his desk and walked up to the board. He knew his equations well enough, but his mind was too worried about other things. Much too worried. He took the chalk and wrote an answer.
"That's wrong, Frost. The answer is 35. Go sit back down and get your head out of the clouds."
Jack shuffled back to his desk and sunk down in his chair. He couldn't wait for the school day to be over.
Finally Miss Bellamy released them and Jack was the first one to sprint out of the building. He ran as fast he could through the town amd to the farm he called home. It wasn't much. It was quaint and cozy, with good crops and some small animals. However, when he heard a commotion from the barn, his eyes widened with panic.
"Augh--! What in heavens name-!?"
Jack rushed to the barn, dropping his school satchel and yanking open the doors. He saw his caretaker, North laying on his back in the pig pen cursing in a different language. Jack leapt over and helped him stand.
"North, what are you doing out of bed?! I said I'd take care of the chores when I got home!"
North groaned and stood, cracking his back a little.
"Oh, Jack, did not know you would be home so soon."
"I come home about the same time everyday--"
"Baghk--Nevermind. I am not going to lay in bed all day when there is work to be done--Buuaghuagh-!"
The older man hacked and sputtered some dry hard coughs. Jack clenched his jaw, the deep worry all over his face.
"Please, you need to rest."
North pushed Jack away a bit.
"Nonsense, I am fine! I have never felt stronger, see?"
The bearded man strolls over and attempts to grab an axe out of a tree stump, but it won't budge. Jack knew North was strong as an Ox when healthy, but this time he knew he had caught a terrible cold that was getting worse.
"North..."
"Just one second!"
"North please can we just--"
"Hold on, almost got it--"
"NORTH!!!"
The older man stopped and slowly turned back to the young teenager, whose chest was heaving and tears were streaming down his cheeks. North's expression immediately softened and he went over and hugged Jack lovingly.
"Alright, my boy. Alright....I am sorry. Please do not cry. I will be better soon enough."
Jack sniffled and smiled a little. They both went back inside the house.
The next day, Jack awoke to find North in a cold sweat, wheezing and hacking. A deep fear struck through Jack's heart. He grabbed his cloak and rushed to the doctor's house in town. He knocked on the door, practically banging until it opened and he saw Dr. Higgins standing there. He looked a bit annoyed to see Jack again, but also a bit sad.
"Dr. Higgins, please, I need you to come take another look at North right away--"
"Hold your horses, Jack. Have you been giving him the tonic I prescribed?"
"Yes, every day twice a day, just like you said--!"
"Then there isn't anymore I can do for him."
"Please, I beg you, it will just take a minute--"
"Jack, no. Im sorry. I have other patients. I do truly hope North recovers and you have my deepest sympathies. Good day, Frost."
Jack steps aside and watches in shock as Dr. Higgins moves past and leaves. He stands there for a few minutes looking heartbroken amd hopeless. Until another boy he knew from school named Terry spots him. He jogs across the street to meet him.
"Jack! Hey, Jack! What are you doing?"
Jack turns his face away, not wanting Terry to see him crying.
"Nothing...I was just leaving."
Terry watches Jack start to walk away, but catches up to his side.
"It's about North, isn't it..."
Jack sniffled and didn't respond. Terry piped up a little.
"Hey, I'm not suppossed to really say anything but...there's been a rumor going around lately at school."
"I don't have time for stupid pranks, Terry--"
"It's about a witch."
Jack pauses and eyes him.
"A witch?...Are you kidding me?"
"They say that if you bring her a bag of sugar and a name of a person, she'll curse your enemies. So we call her the Sugar Witch."
"And she...can do magic?"
"Well, yeah, Johnathan swears that he brought her two bags of sugar and asked her to put a curse on Riley for bullying him. The next day Riley was tripping everywhere he went! Everyone saw it! But you have to do it at night, they say. Head south until you find the giant burned tree stump and place your offering there."
Jack laughed and wiped his tears away.
"Thank you, Terry! Thank you! I won't forget this!"
Jack sprinted off as fast as his legs could carry him to the store. He used all of his allowance to purchase 5 bags of sugar. He stuffed them in his satchel and raced off back home to the farm. He checked in on North to find the man sleeping deeply. With a hopeful smile, the boy snatched a lantern and ran back outside off into the forest as the sun started to go down.
Jack went south and finally found the burned giant tree stump. It was quickly becoming dark and the forest was dangerous at night to get lost in.
He gently took out the bags of sugar and set them down neatly onto the stump next to his lantern. A breeze kicked up and the wind moaned all around eeriely. Jack shivered and looked around at the the encroaching shadows.
"This is lunacy...why did I do this?"
He cleared his throat and yelled.
"OH GREAT, UH...SUGAR WITCH! HEED MY PLEA AND SEE MY OFFERINGS OF--!!!"
Suddenly a voice rang sharply back close by.
"No need to yell! Heavens above, boy!"
Jack stood there frozen as he watched a tall slender woman with grey skin and short black hair step out from behind a tree just across the way. Her eyes, golden like the crowns of kings, seemed to glow and watch him in the darkness. Jack was terrified that he had angered her! He braced for an attack of some sort to punish him for his insolence. Until she just yawned loudly and stretched. She strolled lazily over and looked at the bags of sugar. She raised a brow and laughed.
"My goodness, you've brought so much. I can bake up a storm with all this sweet crystal goodness~!"
Jack slowly lowered his guard to see that she was inspecting all the bags rather nonchalantly. Her dress was as black as her hair and he spotted the slit v neck down her chest low to eccentuate her breasts.
He blushed and yanked his gaze away, never having seen any woman dress so boldly.
"I-I have brought you your sugar, now I would like to ask for your help..."
He spoke softer, fearful that she might curse him if he said or did anything she didnt like.
The woman nodded and sat down on the stump, crossing her legs and inspecting her long nails.
"Alright kid, make this snappy. Whaddaya want in return? Want me to put a curse on someone? Turn their hair gray? Put worms in their food? Make someone trip a lot? I got all kinds of curses, just name it."
Jack bit his lip nervously.
"I...I don't want to curse anyone. I came to request your magic to help my father. He's very ill and he's not getting better..."
The witch jerked up and stared straight at Jsck ith the most perplexed look. He had caught her offguard.
"You...want my *help*?"
Jack couldn't stop his desperation from showing through. He dove and knelt at her feet and bowed his head, clinging to her dress while he sobbed.
"Please, I'm begging you! You're my last hope...!"
The witch's eyes widened in shock at this boy before her. A terrified child with nowhere else to turn. She sighed and groaned in annoyance, letting her empathy get the better of her.
"Ok, fine, just stop getting your snot all over my dress! Ughh...This is gonna be a doozy..."

Hiccup’s eyebrows furrowed a moment at that. A tree? Really? He’d spent a few nights in caves and camped out in the wilderness with toothless before, but a tree? That was different. Maybe it was a fairy thing.
Still, she was a guest and a Princess. He couldn’t let her sleep on a small cramped chaise while he slept on the bed. But she seemed like the sort whose pride wouldn’t let her consider those as valid arguments. He glanced to the side and his eyes caught the bed. “What if we shared the bed?” He asked. “It’s not a tiny bed, we should both be able to sleep on it fairly comfortably. Of course it would be just for sleeping. And the servants have already left for the night, so no one even needs to know…”

“No, wait! Please, please wait. Princess, I’m-” Hiccup ran his hand down his face. “I’m so sorry, that was incredibly rude of me. I just,” he waved his hand gesturing to the entire room, “the last thing I expected when I came in here was to find you here.” He let out a small huff and rolled his eyes. “So much for concern about what people will think,” he muttered mostly to himself. “Regardless, you shouldn’t have to sleep on a chaise. Especially not the night before you’re getting married. I’ll sleep there, you take the bed.”
Jack stared at Hiccup for a long moment and couldn’t help but smile at the offer, however weak and strained it was. He was still barely holding it together… Still, he shook his head. Hiccup was offering out of chivalry, not realizing (intentionally) that Jack was not a princess. “No,” Jack said, holding up a hand to stop Hiccup from trying to argue. “Hiccup, I’m shorter than you. I can fit better…b-besides, I’ve slept in trees before and many other strange, uncomfortable places. Sleeping on the chaise which has cushions makes no difference to me.”

Toothless let out a low grumble while pushing his head up into jack’s hand again. A short while later someone suggested a dance and the two heirs found themselves out on the dance floor again, although they stuck to just swaying in place once more. Afterward they returned back to the spot near the snack tables, and if anyone had asked why, Hiccup had the idea to suggest they wanted to be around toothless, and it didn’t seem proper to take the dragon up to the head table with them. Thankfully no one did ask, and the two seemed to be largely forgotten about for the remainder of the banquet. The banquet came to an end with their fathers proposing a toast to their soon to be wed children, and shortly after everyone was ushered out of the hall. Jacqueline was hurried away by her Father and Hiccup finally found himself alone.
He let out a tense breath before he began walking to his room. Well that could have gone worse, he supposed. Jacqueline seemed nice and they seemed to get along well enough. As a worst case scenario it could be a strictly political marriage where at least he would get along with his… wife. He hadn’t so much as thought of the word to himself yet. But… that’s what she was going to be now. His wife! He was getting married tomorrow. He let out another shaky breath. He could do this. His thoughts were suddenly interrupted as a young servant came rushing up to him.
“Your Majesty,” the young woman said with a short bow. “I was told to find and inform you that most of your stuff has successfully been moved to your new room.”
“My stuff?” Hiccup asked in confusion. “What room?”
She blinked a few times, also confused. “I’m sorry your majesty. We thought you knew. The servants were given instructions to move all of your things to the new room you will be sharing with the Princess. We managed to get most of your belongings moved already. There’s just a few small things left in your old quarters.”
“Ohh…” Hiccup said, and he felt a bit dumb for it. But he really didn’t know what else to say.
“I can show you to the new room if you like?”
Hiccup cleared his throat, trying to regain his composure. “Yes, thank you.” He said then began to follow her. It made sense, he supposed. If they had the time and the people to move his things now, then why not. He wished he had gotten a chance to talk to his father first about a double suite for him and Jacqueline. He felt a bit bad for the servants though. Moving all his things to only have to do it again in a day or two. But he really thought it would be better if they each had their own spaces they could go to. They still barely knew each other after all. He would be sure to talk to his father about it in the morning. For now there was nothing wrong with him staying in the new room by himself.
The young girl lead him to a set of double doors then stepped to the side with a small bow. “Your Majesty.”
Hiccup nodded to her. “Thank you.”
Hiccup pushed open the door and entered to find Jacqueline standing in the center of the room, her hands folded together in front of her chest. She jumped at the sound of the door opening and whirled to face him. Hiccup froze when he spotted her. She… she shouldn’t be… but…
He turned and looked back at the door as though that would tell him if he had entered her room by mistake. “Wha-bu-wh…” he sputtered out, “what are you doing here?!”
The rest of the banquet went really well, all things considered. Jack was thrilled when Hiccup refused to go back up to the head table, much happier to hang out with him by the snacks and avoid the big crowd…and his father. But all good things must come to an end, he supposed, and the toast was proposed to them…to their wedding tomorrow… And Jack felt all that anxiety building up again. Yes, he got along well enough with Hiccup, but there was the matter of his *not actually being a woman*. He couldn’t even say he identified as a woman, either. He was just straight up not, but yet he was being given away as a princess. He didn’t have time to focus on that, though…not for long, anyway, because he was ushered away by Old Man Winter to the bedroom where his stuff had been taken. It was a little large for one person, even a supposed princess…especially considering it was meant to be temporary. A guest room. Until he learned it wasn’t. Hiccup’s belongings were being brought into the room, and then it was explained to him - they were getting married in the morning, give them more of a chance to get to know each other beforehand, no one would blame him if he chose to sleep on the couch, blah blah blah… Jack knew this was his father’s cruel doing. He wondered how he got King Stoick to go along with it. As such, when Hiccup came into the room finally, Jack looked like he was going to cry and was barely holding it in. Surprisingly, despite that, his voice came out even, though quiet and meek. “I’ll sleep on the chaise,” he mumbled. “I suppose they think they’re saving time and effort this way…”

Hiccup paused as Jacqueline flinched and he pulled his arms in against his chest. “Oh… uhh, sorry,” he said, “I uhh, tend to wave my arms around a lot while I talk.” He rubbed sheepishly at the back of his neck. “It’s a bit rude. Waving my arms into your personal space, I’ll try to be a bit more self aware.”
Toothless glared up at the head table. He was pretty sure personal space wasn’t the reason for that reaction.
Jack nodded, taking a deep breath and rubbing his hands together a little anxiously. “I-it’s okay,” he assured him quietly, nervously. “I was just startled. Lots of people talk with their hands, right?”
He glanced at Toothless, at the glare, and reached to gently touch his head, giving him a little (shaky) pet.

Toothless pressed his head against Jack’s hand again to try and calm him, but before he could say anything Hiccup was walking back up to them.
Hiccup shook his head as he handed Jacqueline a drink. “You just can’t reason with some people,” he said before taking a drink from his own glass. “I was just talking to a guy that insisted gronkle eggs he got from someone here in Berk would make a great centrepiece on his banquet table. I tried to tell him it was a bad idea, cause they have a tendency to explode! But oh no! He’s not gonna listen to me, the guy he got them from seemed very knowledgeable and knew what he was talking about. Just ignore the local dragon expert! And I’m not talking about small break a few crystal glasses explosions. I mean fire and destruction everywhere!” He exclaimed sweeping an arm in front of him.
Jack took the drink graciously and immediately took a sip, hoping having something other than a few small bites of chicken (which he was kind of sad his father’s ‘go dance’ plan had interrupted, despite his desires to not eat meat in the first place) might calm him a little, but then Hiccup was talking. At first, Jack nodded his agreement, knowing full well winter fairies avoided gronkle eggs altogether if found because of that tendency, but then Hiccup swept his hand in front of him. Jack flinched on instinct, letting out the quietest of whimpers.
He relaxed a little when he realized he hadn’t been struck…that Hiccup was just talking with his hands…but his heart was still pounding as he nodded weakly in agreement to Hiccup’s ranting.

Toothless’ ears folded back a bit as he looked up to the head table where the two Kings were returning to their seats. Toothless was starting to wonder if anyone would truly be upset if the Winter King met an early end. It wouldn’t be an easy feat by any means. In a fair fight he’d certainly not stand a chance against the old King. Maybe a shot taken in the dark on an empty road… it could injure him enough to make finishing the job possible. But a plasma blast from a distance could risk injuring others as well. Toothless mentally shook the thought from his head. Amusing as such ideas were, it simply wasn’t practical. He looked towards Hiccup a few tables over, then back to the boy in front of him posing as a girl. Then again, there was a lot impractical about the current situation. “Do you want to stay here?” He asked Jack. “Long term? If you do, you need to decide when you want to tell Hiccup the truth.”
Jack opened his mouth to respond but stopped. Truthfully, he hadn’t thought about that. He hadn’t had the time to come up with a life plan of getting away from his father; the past week had been nothing but fighting his servants on his title of Princess and half thinking of answers to questions about a wedding he didn’t want. It felt like a whirlwind to him…and the one thing he hadn’t considered was ‘do I want to stay with them and be away from Father?’.
He swallowed. “I don’t know,” he said quietly. “I don’t… I didn’t think about that… I didn’t know I was being made to stay here after the wedding until a few minutes ago… I haven’t thought about anything except getting through the wedding. I didn’t have a plan…” He knew he had to tell Hiccup, but he didn’t…he didn’t know how. What if they all got so mad about the lie that they hurt him? What if they called the wedding off and sent him home with his angry father?

Hiccup felt his face redden at Jacqueline’s comment. Leaving the dinner really hadn’t seemed like such a big deal at the time. He wasn’t sure why their fathers seemed to make such a big deal of it. It wasn’t like they had taken off on toothless and hadn’t come back for days at a time. He smiled at the sound of her laughter, it was a lovely sound. He hoped to hear more of it, and less of her sounding embarrassed and regretful. Hiccup gave her hand a light squeeze in return, trying to be reassuring in whatever way he could.
Stoick nodded along with the other King’s sentiments as the group entered the hall once more. The two Kings moved off to the head table while Old Man Winter continued to boast of his Kingdoms greatness and fortitude. Hiccup doubted Princess Jacqueline really wanted to go sit back up at the head table with their Fathers. So he steered them over towards some tables where drinks and snacks had been set out. He offered to get a drink for her and as Hiccup moved away Toothless came up and brushed against Jack’s hand again to get his attention. When he had Jack’s attention again toothless inquired, “Do you care for your Father?”
Jack was a little reluctant to let Hiccup’s hand go but he allowed him to move away, startling when Toothless bumped into his hand for his attention. Automatically he moved to pet him, glancing at his father who wasn’t listening. “He…scares me,” Jack whispered in the dragon’s language, trying his best to not be heard by anyone else. He looked embarrassed to admit such a thing, but his father *did* frighten him, for reasons he didn’t want to say.

Stoick also heard his sons question, and saw the King of the winter faeries turn his head, and heard the princesses timid response. He breathed deeply. The most subtle creature in the group was probably the dragon. He wondered if he could distract the older King from focusing on his daughter so much. “Do you know of that business between the water and earth faeries? We’re a bit out of the loop here. But from what I heard there was some great insult given or implied and a group of water faeries flooded some of the earth kingdom’s best crops.”
Hiccup smiled. “I didn’t think you would. Honestly my father would probably say similar things about me.”
From Jack’s other side toothless gave a reassuring warble and lifted his head slightly to connect with the faerie boys hand.
“All petty business,” Old Man Winter responded, huffing slightly. “Should the Earth Fairies not be so careless with their words and the Water Fairies not be so sensitive to them, the whole mess could have been avoided. I am lucky that none dare to trifle with the Winter Court.” The winter fairy king was easy to sway away from the topic of his child, so long as he could boast about his lack of war with the other fairy kingdoms.
Jack couldn’t help but giggle his enchanting, ringing giggle when Hiccup admitted to being a bit mischievous as well. “I gathered as much when you invited me to the gardens mid-dinner, Your Highness,” he said softly, smiling at him. He began to gently pet Toothless where he was permitted, finding great comfort in the beast’s acceptance of him.
Surprisingly, he felt at ease with Hiccup. That would be a problem later, but right now, in the presence of his father, and at a big public celebratory dinner and party, he could just keep holding Hiccup’s hand as tightly as he dared without hurting the human in the crowd.

Stoick listened to the other King’s explanation and his eyes shifted over to his own son. Given Old Man Winter’s reaction and his own son’s penchant for mischief he was suddenly glad the two were staying in Berk… or at least he would be, if he were entirely convinced that was all the reason behind the other King’s reaction. But calling such things into question the night before their children were to be married and an alliance was to be sealed did not seem wise.
“I see.” Stoick said simply. He turned back towards the hall. “We should all get back. There’s still food and celebrations, and I’m sure people are wondering where we all went.”
The two kings turned and lead the way back with their children a few steps behind them. Toothless decided to join them and took up walking on the opposite side of Jack from Hiccup.
After a moment Hiccup leaned towards his fiancee. “You ok?” He asked quietly as they walked.
While they walked back towards the hall, Old Man Winter heard Hiccup ask quietly if his son was okay. He turned his head a fraction, so that Jack would see it - a warning to stay in line.
Jack swallowed and smiled nervously. “Yes,” he whispered back. “M-my father’s right, I do play tricks… B-but I wouldn’t play one here, not…not on such an important occasion…”
Except he was playing one right now, but it wasn’t a fun trick.
Jack glanced at the dragon who was walking next to him opposite to Hiccup, and hesitantly held up the hand that wasn’t holding his fiance’s, silently asking if he was permitted to pet him. He knew full well Toothless was wary…with good reason to be… But he wanted to prove to the dragon he was a good person…or at least he wanted to be.

Stoick looked towards the other king in shock. That seemed like a bit of a harsh reaction. He was annoyed that the two had snuck off as well, but the Fairy King’s words seemed a bit extreme for the situation. What could the two possibly get up to in the public gardens anyways? Stoick was considering saying something to the other king when Hiccup cut in.
“My apologies your Majesty,” Hiccup said with a small bow. “I convinced the Princess to let me show her the gardens. This was my fault entirely. Admittedly we may have been gone longer than I had realized.”
To the side Toothless’ ears folded back against his head momentarily. He did not like this one. He knew that the King of the Winter Fairies was their ally, and he seemed very powerful, but Toothless did not like his aggressive tone or body language towards the boy Jack. He would definitely be keeping an eye on this one
Old Man Winter stared hard at Hiccup and Jack for a long moment, before he finally sighed. “Jacqueline,” he said, turning once again to his son. “You know I prefer to know where you are at all times.” He turned to Hiccup and nodded to him politely, though his eyes still seemed hard and cold as he regarded the prince with a bit of distaste. He turned to Stoick. “Your Majesty,” he said. “I apologize for my outburst. My daughter has a tendency to get into mischief, you see. Every stereotype of the trickster fae you may have heard rings true with her. In my experience, if she is out of my sight for even a few minutes, chaos ensues - I’m sure you can understand her disappearance causing me to panic. However, I see she is in good hands with your son.” Jack looked down at his feet, looking a little like he wanted to cry. But he didn’t. He could control himself.

Hijack Week June 2019 Day 4: Cuddle Time Here, have some very short unbridled fluff!! Words: 510 Hiccup was jolted from his light sleep when a cold foot brushed against his leg. He blurrily looked over his shoulder at Jack as warm blanket was pulled from his shoulder. A few more tugs and Hiccup was getting close to no blankets at all. Hiccup latched onto the edge of his blanket like his life, and warmth depended on it, because the latter did. “You mind?” he asked his boyfriend lightly. “Too cold.” Was all the other boy offered in return, before giving another light tug. Hiccup didn’t let up his grip. “You’re the one that wanted to sleep together under one blanket.” “I forgot how cold it was here in the mornings.“

Toothless frowned. He also knew that Hiccup was being largely forced into this marriage. He’d been complaining about it all week, although he hadn’t outright stated that he was being forced to do it. Hiccup seemed to be saying a lot about duty and obligations, which was his way of trying to justify it, and say that he was being forced without actually admitting that he was being forced. Toothless looked to his rider as Hiccup turned a bit red at the fairy’s comment. Hiccup looked to the side slightly before he laughed a bit nervously then cleared his throat
“uhh… That’s amazing though” he said trying to steer the topic in a new direction. “I had no idea it was possible to learn his language. Can a human learn it?”
Toothless’s ears perked before the conversation could continue. He looked to the side as he heard Stoick and another person walking up the path. From Stoick’s angry huffing he seemed very annoyed as he came around the corner, another man right behind him. “There you are!” he grumbled at his son. “we’ve been looking all over for you two!”

Toothless’s eyes widened as he went stiff and jumped back slightly as the small fairy suddenly spoke in words that he could understand. Well, of course he could understand, being a dragon he could understand most languages, but in a language that they could both use to communicated fluently. He watched with a raised eyebrow as … Jack explained his situation. He was still a bit hesitant to be friendly with the fairy, the boy was lying to his best friend after all, and such a big lie. He reluctantly let Jack scratch under his chin. Before he glanced to Hiccup then back to the fairy. “I don’t approve of what you’re doing.” He told the other. “You’re lying to him, and it’s a very big lie to start a marriage with.” He let out a huffed breath. “Hate you?... I doubt it. Hiccup doesn’t really hate anything, but the longer you wait the harder it’s going to be for you both to get passed it.” Hiccup watched from the side a moment, eyes going back and forth between his dragon and his fiancée. He frowned slightly. “wait, can… can you understand him?” Hiccup asked Jacqueline.

The dragons head swept back as the fairy in front of him gave a bow. Toothless looked at them in confusion a moment before folding his ears back slightly and dipping his head forward in his best attempt at bow in return. He lifted his head back up after a moment and looked at Hiccup with a slight shake of a black head. “What is this anyways?” he warbled out, knowing Hiccup couldn’t understand him anyways. “This is no Jacqueline. Jacqueline was not a boy’s name, what kind of joke is this?” He let out a laugh before looking back to the fairy. They were polite enough at least. But what was this?

They made their way through the gardens and down to the stables. The first part of the stables was the original building which had been for horses. In recent years a second building was added after it to accommodate the various dragons.
Hiccup didn’t want to overwhelm Jacqueline, so once they were passed the horse stable he paused and whistled loudly for Toothless. A few moments later an excited black dragon came running out of the building and bounding up to them. Toothless skidded to a stop right in front of Hiccup, pawing at the ground and head butting against Hiccup’s hand.
“Hey bud! Yea, I’m happy to see you too.” He said petting at the dragons head. After a moment the dragon settled down slightly and hiccup motioned to the Princess. “Toothless, this is Jacqueline. We’re… getting married tomorrow.”
Toothless looked towards Jacqueline and smelled the air a moment before pulling his head back in confusion.

Hiccup’s face turned red once again at the sudden unexpected contact, but it subsided more easily, likely from getting to know Jacqueline more as the night went on. She seemed nice, if a little impulsive with acts of affection. He wondered if it was a faerie thing.
“Uhh.” he nodded. “Yea. I’m… actually pretty nervous. If I’m uhh…” he cleared his throat. “.. hiding it well then it’s mostly that I’m trying not to think about it but… ignoring it probably isn’t going to help any in the long run.” He swallowed nervously as his thoughts trailed off again and dozens of uncertainties ran through his mind. “Uhh… did.. you want to go meet toothless?” He asked, trying to find yet another distraction. “I feel like you two should be introduced before we…”
