In mine and many other east Asian cultures, the dragon traditionally symbolises things like power, wealth and strength (imperial symbol and all)
I think we often forget that in the story of the Great Race, the dragon came in fifth because it'd stopped to give people rain. Then it'd stopped again to push a rabbit adrift on a log across the wide river so it reached the shore safely (that's why the Rabbit year comes before the Dragon).
Dragons aren't meant to just be powerful - they are meant to do good with such power, and to help those in need.
So in this lunar new year, I hope you gain more power, so that you might be able to help others. I pray you have abundant resources so you may give to yourself and those around you. I wish you courage, endurance, kindness and generosity, for yourself and your people.
I hope you, and I, will be rain givers, life preservers, joy bringers.
Exercises for all the homies who want to have a long career drawing.
The true problem with being an artist and drawing all day (as I wanted my whole life) is that human backs are not designed to hold that position, so it is very common for artists and designers to have really stiff shoulder blades, creating a chain of muscle strain towards the arm AND the back… and a lot of pain.
These are some physical exercises for artists and honestly anyone who works at a desk.
You have no idea how hard this made me smile while I was in the hospital recovering from a stomach hernia surgery - like OMG I WAS OVER THE MOON BECAUSE OF THIS ART. The mix of painkillers helped, but this brought me SUCH JOY. Though I didn’t trust myself to form words in a coherent sentence at the time.
Just - the LOVE and the HAPPINESS in their faces ❤️❤️ Makes me wanna rewatch ACOFAF all over again!! I wanna tickle the little baby toe beans. THEY ARE ALL SO CUTE
Reblogging so I can look at this forever and it won’t get lost in the sea of favorites!!
Some RueHob babies bc I saw this post by @fluffyquill and lost my mind!! Y’know I’m here for a good baby AU (I drew the left pic first and realized I drew the babies way too big, decided that if they have small goblets they’d probably be a full litter instead and so drew the two of them with a whole bunch more babies LMAO)
♪~ Happy Birthday, Curiosity! Happy Birthday to me!~♪
Today is the 8 year anniversary of Curiosity beeping Happy Birthday on Mars! I could not ask for a better birthday buddy. I started this illustration three whole years ago so I'm happy to finally finish it.
Curiosity brings me a lot of joy and inspiration. She's 9 years into a two year mission and beloved by everyone on earth. A crew of NASA engineers built her and take care of her, and helped her sing Happy Birthday. She's literally too good for this world.
I had this idea for a looping animation in which a single dot has a pretty long loop, but the animation as a whole is much shorter. Because of the repetition this animation is only 1 second long!
