I’m a grad student in NYC organizing this fundraiser for my friends Mohammed and Ali, and their families in Gaza. I previously helped organize a successful fundraiser that allowed Mohammed to get his wife medical treatment for cancer. Today, both Mohammed and Ali are in desperate need as they struggle to care for their families, survive ongoing hardship, and rebuild from devastation.
Their Story
Mohammed’s Message:
“My dear friends in humanity, I call out to you with a heart full of pain and sorrow. I am a father who has lost nearly everything—left with only my three children and my beloved wife, who is courageously fighting cervical cancer. She’s now in the final stages of physical therapy, trying to regain her ability to walk and find balance again.
Amidst this pain, my home has been reduced to rubble. My life has collapsed. All I ask is a small helping hand. Just $5 from each of you could give my family a second chance—food, medicine, and a safe place for my children to rest their heads.
I share with you the heartbreaking images of my destroyed home and my children who still believe, with innocent hearts, that kindness exists in this world. Please, don’t turn away. Be the hope that lifts us from this darkness.”
Ali’s Message:
“In the same storm that tore through Mohammed’s life, my family and I have suffered immense loss. My home has also been destroyed. I now live in fear of not being able to feed or medicate my children. I am doing everything I can to protect and support them, but alone, I cannot carry this burden.
We are not asking for luxury—only survival. A meal for the day, medicine for the sick, and a roof over our heads. Every dollar you donate brings warmth, safety, and the hope that our children will wake up to peace one day.”
