waltz of the hour

There's been a melody going through my head for as long as I can remember. I don't know when it started… it was always very faint, only showing up every now and then… but over the last few months, I've been hearing it more and more. Sometimes it's while I'm on a walk… sometimes it's when I'm alone at night, trying to fall asleep… and most frequently? It's in my dreams. Despite how much I've heard it, I've never been able to transcribe it. By the time I can get to a piano, or have a chance to sing it… it's gone. That is… until yesterday. I don't know how I managed to, but I ended up falling asleep during study night at the library… and, gosh, the dream I had… Long and real feeling dreams are far from abnormal for me… but even to my standards, this truly felt like no other dream I've ever had. A lot of it was really scary… it's too complicated for me to try and write it all down, but for a lot of it I was trapped and alone… it felt like I was never going to wake up again. Eventually I got free… at least, for a bit. After that that there were a lot of ups and downs, but eventually near the end there was a… really nice moment. In comparison to the rest of the dream, it was very brief… but it might've just been the best dream I've ever had. After a while, all those scary feelings, all my nerves… seemed to just melt away. I don't know the last time I felt so… happy. Then, out of nowhere, as we sat in a moment of silence… I could hear it again. The song, the melody… it was clearer than ever. Suddenly I wasn't worried that I was never going to wake up again... I was worried that it would be over any second. I wanted it to last forever... but, as all things do... the good part of the dream eventually ended… and before I knew it, I was back in the computer lab. I continued the rest of my day like normal… but it was still all I could think about. Eventually, the day was over, and I went to sleep… then, this morning, I woke up and… the song was still in my head. I rushed out of bed to get to the piano… and I… I think I actually did it. It felt like magic… all the right notes just… happened. That dream is still all I can think about… it just felt so… real. It wasn't, of course it wasn't… but I think… I think I want to make it real. The happiness I felt, the freedom I had… if I can make the song real… maybe I can make this come true too.

It's NEAR… it's HERE… it's DEER!!! MY EP NORTH STAR SATELLITE IS OUT NOW!!! Like, NOW now!!! So spread some cheer and spread some… schmear??? I'm, umm… running out of rhymes XD For real, though(doe?), my EP is finally HERE! This project is the culmination of half a YEARs work… a lot of blood, sweat and TEARS went into making it, so I really hope it shows! I'm really, REALLY proud of what I've managed to do with this, and I really hope you all like it… I really, really, REALLY think you will. As I mentioned in yesterday's post, I got around to playing Forever In Darkness last night! If you don't know of it, it's a horror game from years back on the PlayCube… its big claim to fame was being the first M rated game to be released on the console. Which is very unlike… basically the entire catalog of games on that thing XD The horror in the game is pretty different from most stuff from back then… of course it's got all the spooky vibes you'd expect, but it also has a lot of fourth wall-breaking scares that were definitely very different from games at the time. Obviously that sorta thing is a lot more prominent now (especially on the internet XP) but it's super cool to see in a game like this! I'm a big fan of horror, so of course I was very excited to check the game out… but I didn't go into it alone! I was with my friend Catti, and she sat with me as I played through it X) We started the game up and it was pretty much what you'd expect… a bunch of company logos, and then a super cheesy cutscene that was kiindaaa hard to follow LOL I think this game is super cool and I absolutely enjoyed my time with it… but there's definitely plenty of aspects that didn't age super well XD Once we got into the game, we're thrown into this spooky mansion which was, you guessed it… spooky! There was no music or anything, just a few random sound effect that would play every now and then. I went through a few rooms, looking around… and then I got my first jumpscare! It was… just a lamp popping into view that genuinely made me jump… no I don't know why, stop asking! XD Then eventually, I ended up in a room that had a big glowing book on a desk… very ominous xP My character starts to read the book… and now we're in a cutscene! In the book! It's set in like, ancient times… there's a few humans, speaking in… ancient XP and then suddenly halfway through the cutscene another voice started overlapping with the person speaking, and then suddenly… they're speaking English? This game is full of intentional bugs and stuff like that all over, so I genuinely don't know if it was supposed to happen the way it did… it was very strange XP Then, we're playing as the guy in the book cutscene! Which then eventually leads to another chapter, where the main spooky gimmick of the game comes in. Your character has a "sanity" meter that will empty the more spooky things you see… when it's low, your player starts to hallucinate, and lots of weird things can start to happen. You can replenish it by killing enemies, so if you do things right, you'll never get spooked! I was doing pretty well at keeping it full… until I got into a room with two creatures attacking a human. He was begging for help, and so of course… I start attacking the creatures!

The only issue was the game just gave me a new blow-dart weapon that I… wasn't used to using yet… and I mayyyy have sorta accidentally killed the human guy XDD This caused my sanity-meter to PLUMMET… and then those evil creatures that were attacking him? They EXPLODED, which meant I couldn't kill them… which means I couldn't fill the meter!!! Basically for the rest of the time playing, my meter was empty… and lootssss of strange stuff started to happen XP Firstly, I got into a room and my character just … clipped into a staircase? Like for a moment I was just GONE in the stairs… but then it quickly teleported me back to the previous room, undoing… all of that. There were a few more things like that, which I knew were of course just the game messing with me… but then later, I entered a room with a bunch of enemies… and suddenly, a thing popped up on screen saying my controller had disconnected! Again, the room was full of enemies, so I needed to regain control FAST or I was going to die… Catti and I both were scrambling to get the controller to work again……. but it turns out THAT WAS THE GAME TOO!!! After it happened and we realized it was another hallucination, I remembered reading about the game doing that a while ago… but I had completely forgotten, and it TOTALLY got us XD Then, finally, we finished that second chapter… aannddd that was it for the night, we had to get to bed XP Overall, it was a really good time! Of course it hasn't all aged well, but I was really impressed with how much HAD… that controller thing REALLY got me. We'll probably play through more of it sometime in the future… and if any of you are interested, I'll definitely post about further playthroughs XP

Well... that was pretty neat, I think? X) Thank you all so much for the love on my new song... we're just six days away from my EP now! That's INSANE... I feel like I'm gonna be sick thinking about XD I really, really can't wait to show you all what I've been working on the last six months. Sharing music is HARD so it really means the world when someone takes the time to listen :3 I haven't told anyone at school about it yet... part of me wants to... but if they hated it, I don't know if I'd survive the rejection, I might combust on the spot XP We'll see, though... either way it's super cool that the people of the internet seem to like it! In non music related news, I got a new game! Well, it's actually a rather old game... but it's new to me. It's a horror game that's most notable for being the first M rated PlayCube game ever... spooky! I'll be sure to let you guys know all about it tomorrow... see you then!

sleepover

I feel like I don't really have the best of luck with sleepovers anymore... maybe that's just cause I'm getting a bit old for them? When I was younger, there was nothing more exciting than learning I get to stay at a friend's house all night… now they're just, kind of awkward? The thing is, people my age still have fun sleepovers all the time, it's just... especially when it's multiple people, I usually end up feeling really left out or forgotten entirely. One time I was at a friend's for the night, and they all wanted to sleep out in the yard on the trampoline, which sounded really fun! The problem was it wasn't a very… BIG trampoline. So a few kids on there, there's no room and, well… I'm the only one left to go sleep inside on the couch X') Then the next morning, I must've slept in as by the time I was awake… everyone had already eaten breakfast, and there wasn't any for me. It's not that my friends don't care… I know they do. No one's trying to leave me out, no one dislikes me… but gosh, it can be hard to remember that. When it's just two of us, things are usually pretty good… I just get so lost in a crowd. Even when the crowd's only three of us… if only there was an expression for that XP Not all sleepovers are that bad… I really do try to tell myself to have fun, and that everything's okay… and sometimes, things are! It's just… when they're bad… I just wanna curl up like a dying bug XD

Gosh, today is my 99th post... that's almost a hundred! It's crazy it's already been a quarter of a year since I started posting online... well, here at least X) This isn't my first time posting online, of course... I've made my rounds on plenty of forums, submitted posts and such to other blogs. I even used to run a Dragon Blazers fan page, believe it or not XP That's all kind of in the same ballpark as what I do now, but having my own personal blog where I can just... go on about whatever I'd like? My favorite games, songs I write, my incredibly weird life... it's really, really nice. It's like an interactive diary... and the coolest thing about it is... you guys care enough to read what I have to say. I'm just some random girl on the internet... and yet, here you are. You could be watching an adorable cat video, or playing addicting browser games... but instead, you're taking time out of your day to hear what I have to say? It's scary to think about, honestly XD I think... I wanna do something special for my 100th post. I'm sure you all won't stick around forever, but would you guys mind checking back here TOMORROW? A few weeks ago I found a bunch of my old stuffed animals, and since then they've all taken over my bed... there's barely any room for me on it, it's great XD Last night I was staring at them and got to wondering... where did you all come from to begin with? "The toy store" I'm sure they'd all reply, but I mean in terms of WHO made them XP A lot of the plushies are pretty generic animals and have lost their tags, so there's not really any way of knowing. Thankfully, one plush still has its tag, and he just happens to be one of my most important plushies XP I think he might just be my first ever plushie, I've had him for as long as I can remember. He's a tiger plushie that I lovingly named... Tiger Tig. VERY creative, I know... and to be clear, "Tig" is pronounced like tiger, not twig X) Over the years he's lost a lot of color... and whiskers... but he's still as cuddly as ever. He's so old that he even had a son at one point! A much smaller tiger plush I got a few years later that I named Tiger Tyke (that's a little more creative, huh? XP) Looking at his tags, he's one of those beanie plushies that were all the rage back in the day... though he's much bigger than the bears. I went online to see if I could find what he originally looked like, and... oh my gosh LOL I knew he had aged, but GOODNESS you'd think it was a different plush entirely! How years of just laying in my bed transformed him so much, I will never know XD Despite his orange not shining as bright, or his fur being as silky as it once was, I love him as much as I did back then. I've lost so many plushies over the years... to floods, to time... I'm really glad he's stayed with me through all of these years. If you still got any of your old stuffies, give them a big squeeze sometime... I'm sure they'd appreciate the love.

So last night my mom was out, which meant I had the whole house to myself... which meant I could play our piano REALLY loud and no one could stop me X) I've struggled with really taking advantage of the time I have alone before. It's always felt like there's something stopping me... but last night felt different. I felt... reckless. So... I sat in the living room and just played the piano for a bit with no attempt to be quiet. Eventually, I recorded this messy cover of a song I really like. It's super loud and kind of rough sounding but I think it's kind of fun? Our piano's pretty out of tune, as I mentioned a while back... but I like the sound. You can absolutely hear me singing live with the piano here, being very loud and... messy, honestly XD I recorded an extra vocal after the fact to ground things a bit... It's a very dirty recording, but I think it's neat! I hope all of you get something out of my chaotic jamming XP
