I also think it’s neat how the new Superman movie threw in characters like Guy Gardner Green Lantern or Metamorpho with only the most minimal explanation of what their deal is. Feels like a rebuttal to all the complaining about “having to do homework” for MCU movies.

Question: What is the greatest magic of all? Answer: Friendship, right? [B]: The greatest magic of all is not friendship, it's chronomancy, the ability to control and warp time. If friendship were the greatest magic, look, it's a pet peeve of mine (...)

i love, love, love lex and clark's little silent stare down at the end of the movie and the subtle shift in clark's expression, they way it goes from stoic and victorious to a little forlorn and accepting. like yeah, he just saved the day, by beating lex's ass and tearing his entire life down around him, but not because he takes personal enjoyment/pride in being victorious over another person like lex does, but because it was simply the right thing to do. and now that lex is defeated and clearly trying not to crumble right in front of the man he hates, clark cant help but feel a little sorry for him. and THATS superman.
#superman 2025#in another life they could have been friends hmmm#something something lex Luthor and Batman same coin something something

My Adventures with Superman is so great! Made me go from feeling so-so on Superman to loving him <3
Comrade, I think you’ve underestimated me. My room was decorated in Superman colors when I was growing up. If the show made you love him? Perhaps I may die (affectionate)

Something I really loved in the new Superman that I haven’t seen anyone mention:
When that building is falling down over the bridge, Superman is saving one woman in a car. Usually in superhero movies or TV procedurals with emergency services, if it’s a woman in a car she also has a child or a crying baby to “raise the stakes” and make you care. But for this Superman, and in the context of this movie, it’s enough to just be a woman alone in a shitty car that won’t start right. She doesn’t need to be a mother for the stakes to be high enough that Superman uses his body to stop an entire skyscraper.
It was small, but it felt really powerful to me the moment I saw it.

Parents are for telling their children who they're supposed to be. We're here to give you tools, to help you make fools of yourselves, all on your own. Your choices, Clark. Your actions. That's what makes you who you are. Tell you something, son. I couldn't be… more proud of you.

excuse me for stating the obvious but like. james gunn outright calling superman an immigrant and doubling down on it when he got backlash (because he IS an immigrant, that's the point of superman) + the in-movie dialogue of "aren't you going to read me my rights?" "you're an extraterrestrial, son. you haven't got any rights to read." + the violence of his arrest and how they torture and mistreat him unapologetically, all under the guise of "protecting america", in a film releasing during the onslaught of violent ICE kidnappings and abuse... yeah it's really no wonder right-wing knobheads are crying about this being woke. they're being forced to look directly at the reasons one of the most notorious heroes of all time would not be on their side. and that's only ONE of the reasons this movie covers
