People acting like humans are uniquely separate from microbes, that we’re inherently “clean”, can only transfer microbes from animal contact in one direction, and that we had to have done something as depraved as beastiality to contract STIs…… ignoring the homophobic and racist sympathies of that, it spits in the face of everything we have learned about our microbial world and how macro organisms participate in it. We are an environment, filled with many many niches (including the genito-urinary tract!), that provide nutrients and means of further transmission from person to person for these microbes. If there is a niche for a microbe to fill, a microbe will fill it—or at least try its fucking hardest to do so. Saying that we could only contract STI’s from raping animals is like saying a flightless bird, on two different islands, could only travel from one island to the next if the island holding the bird erupted and the lava formed a pathway, ignoring historical pathways hidden under water level. It’s stupid. You’re stupid and you’re bigoted. WE HAVE HAD STIS AND DISEASE AS LONG AS WE’VE BEEN HUMANS🦅🦅🦅🤯

The latest numbers coming from Gaza state that there are about 77,575 injured Palestinians as of April 28, 2024.

I honestly see this number as a very humble one, but regardless, I said this in 2014 and it bears repeating: considering the types of weapons Israel is using in Gaza, the overwhelming majority of these injuries are severe and critical. So when we say that well over 77,000 people are injured in Gaza, we're talking about tens of thousands of people who have ended up with a lifelong disability. Thousands of amputees with no proper care. Thousands who will not be able to walk or see again. Many won't be able to go back to school or work again. Burn victims without the means to reduce or take the pain away. Many on life support and many more who will not even make it.

So many open wounds, both literally and figuratively, that we need to keep present in our conversation about Gaza.

Kabru is involved for the drama of course and is an incredibly curious man, but also he takes great care in the long term safety and success of shorter lived races against their oppressors, whether that be themselves (e.g. Laios, lord of the island) or like, uninvolved elves halfway across the world. He has a lot of passion and gusto in his heart, and it’s for good purposes at the end of the day. How sly and insincere and weird he acts in his efforts to guarantee thsi safety has a lot to do with him being the recipient of infantalizstion and racism and bloodshed due to being a short-lived brown man whose been ripped of his culture and adequate mourning, in large part because of these long-lived races, who knows he has to fight and lie and go against his own ethics for this to be appreciated, rather than him just being irrationally “evil”. Because he is very very aware of how disadvantaged he may be when going after what he wants. But idk 🤷‍♂️

Imploring any anime-only’s who are very fond of Kabru to try the manga, or at least the chapters where Kabru’s featured. Because the anime so far seems to have cut out a good portion of his internal dialogue, which are very important to understanding him given how insincere he is for a lot of his interactions with our MCs. Like, he may be a calculating and sly person but his MOTIVATIONS for acting so are so much more important to understanding him than the slyness itself. Those traits are his tools; they’re not necessarily his passions, or what he acts in the sake of. He’s a very, very good character, but he’s a reserved one, despite his love of people and extroversion. Hope that what anime-only’s have seen of him will encourage them to pick up the manga for more
