Bands don't succeed. Just statistically. So after the surprise indie success of our album Take This To Your Grave, I was sure there was no way but down from there.

I was certain we couldn't possibly match the success we'd had with that album. So I barely bothered considering it as a possibility, I just went in to write and record an album I enjoyed. I told my parents ‘I swear, just one more semester off and then I'll go to college.’ When ‘Sugar, We're Goin Down,’ premiered on MTV's TRL I could tell that I probably wasn't going to make it to college after all.

Happy 20th anniversary to From Under The Cork Tree, the album that changed everything. You turned it into something so much bigger than us, and for that we're forever grateful.

We're working on some cool things to keep the celebration going later this year, but more on that later. [tree emoji] [black heart emoji]

When we started the process of So Much (for) Stardust it was just meant to be a little sad record that we made on our terms in the attic of a garage off of Sunset Blvd, without much influence of the outside world (beyond takeout food).

And then with wing and a prayer we put it out into the world and toured for a year... and we thought that was the end of the story, which was already so much better than we could have ever wished for... it really inspired us to play more shows this year - to create the biggest single production we have ever had - to take us around the world all over again.

Though the band distanced themselves from the album initially, Folie à Deux has seen renewed acclaim in recent years. It has been widely described as ambitious, and "radically different". Stereogum's Annie Zaleski praised the "gigantic leaps in songwriting." In 2023, Stump described their eighth album, So Much for Stardust, as "what would it have sounded like if we had made a record right after Folie instead of taking a break for a few years." For the album's fifteenth anniversary, the band issued "Pavlove", a song only available on deluxe versions of the album, to streaming services for the first time. Additionally, the band released a vinyl reissue, plus merchandise and apparel celebrating the album's anniversary. The same year, the band also resumed performing many of the album's songs live, including "Headfirst Slide"and "Disloyal Order Of Water Buffaloes". "I feel like we're gonna work some more of it in at future shows," Wentz confirmed.”]
