Chapter 10: Words, Left Unsaid

Summary:

The Arrangement is simple. During the day, Aziraphale is Crowley's brilliant assistant, capable and smart, always able to anticipate his needs. And, sometimes, also during the day, Crowley is allowed to touch him. Not how he is desperate to, aching for. But the only way Aziraphale will let him be close. It's enough. It has to be.

Come watch them bicker like an old married couple as they drive back to London! A fluffy, silly chapter, just before the end!

"Tell me, my dear," the other man said, a certain note to his voice that told Crowley he was going to be a bastard about it. "Have you ever crashed into someone?" Crowley let his grin take on a sharp edge. The way Aziraphale had phrased that, he was begging for a reply like, "No. Some people have crashed into me." Aziraphale gasped. Crowley was sure that, were he not driving, he would have even received an admonishing pat on the arm. "But I could be more careful?" he hurried to say, hurried to offer, before it had become a thing. He felt Aziraphale stare at him. Resolutely didn't turn to meet his eyes. This was, he believed, what was commonly referred to as personal growth. Apparently, Aziraphale didn't share the sentiment. "You are not a child, Crowley. You do not get a reward for not killing us," the other man scoffed.

The Ineffable Society Synchronous Picnics!

Crowley and Aziraphale may not have had their picnic yet but we can show them how it's done:

TIS is inviting all Good Omens fans to join us on Saturday May 10th wherever you may be!

This is the day that the book was originally published in 1990, and the day of the bombing of St Dunstan-in-the-East, the church which inspired the one in the Blitz scene. St Dunstan later became a public gardens in the 1970s. 👀

How to have your own TIS Picnic:

* Minimum of one person, you!

* Minimum of one tasty treat, preferably eaten or drank outdoors

* On Saturday May 10, 2025 at any time of day

Will it be you and your angel/demon having a picnic on a tartan blanket at a park? Or will you invite several of your friends to your house? Will you enjoy some cosplay? Will you theme your beverages, meal, snacks, and dessert with Good Omens themes?

Or will you invite any local fans to join you at a more organized event?

There are people starting to plan picnic meetups over on our Discord server. I will link that below. You're welcome to post about yours in there as well but it is not mandatory, especially if you are planning something more intimate. Just by having a little picnic on May 10, you too have become part of The Ineffable Society's celebration!

Another week, another WIP Wednesday for the mutual pining while fucking human AU!

Shorter excerpt than usual but under the cut, in order to avoid spoilers,

"Muriel can answer all your questions. They need to learn anyway," Aziraphale answered smoothly. His voice didn't waver. His hands didn't shake. He even smiled at Crowley and it hurt. Fuck, but it hurt. Crowley couldn't even use the pain as an excuse for his next words. "Why would I care whether they learn or not? I already have an assistant." Aziraphale's smile as he shrugged, as he turned to leave, wasn't an answer. And yet, Crowley realised with the type of poisonous certainty befitting the situation. It was.
