i’m so sorry, but i’m just rly confused as to why we submit prompts? i thought we were just supposed to pick our own WIP. I’m sorry this is probably my b, but i just confused

It’s all right, this year’s format is different than normal so some things aren’t as clear as they usually are!

You don’t have to submit prompts. You don’t even have to tell me you’re participating this year. Filling out the sign-up form just helps me keep track of how many people are planning on participating and let’s me keep all y’all in the loop over email. If you want to submit prompts to let other people know what you’re working on or you want help deciding between two different ideas, then go for it! But if you’d rather keep that to yourself until posting, that works too!

Gladly! We’ve had 5 people submit prompts so far.

I’m not fussing about people submitting works without signing up this year though, because the amnesty round is supposed to be low-commitment.

uhh so on the form, it says sign-ups end march 9th? is it supposed to be may 9th or am i too late :/

That’s definitely a typo, but can you message me off anon because I cannot for the life of me see any date on the sign-up form. Are you using this form?

Because this round is a general amnesty round, the sign-ups are more of a suggestion than a hard and fast rule. If you’d like to get feedback or encouragement on any of your prompts, please submit them before May 4th. It helps give me a sense of who’s participating, but even if you don’t sign-up, you’re welcome to submit works to the collection as long as they’re complete.

Hi guys!! So excited to participate this year and I love the new format!! Quick q: as I have to adult quite reguarly these days, will my work have to be finished by the deadline? I feel like even if I add a chapter to a work at the moment it's serious progress.

Yeah!! Trying something a little different and seeing how it goes :D

For this round, even though there are no minimums, submissions should still be in a finished state. So, yes, your works will have to be finished by the deadline.

If it works for the story you’re writing, you could submit one part as a finished piece and continue it in another work later as part of a series if you can’t make the deadline. But individually, whatever you’re submitting should be a complete work.

if i submit multiple prompts, do i have to fill all of them or can i just pick one or two depending on what people would like to read?

The latter! You can pick one or two or as many as you can finish.

How does it work?

From now until June 30th, the 2019 Spring Fling AO3 Collection will be open for any and all of your Football RPF WIPs. There will be no sign-ups, claims, or assignments.  On May 4th, a list of Prompt Offers will be made public for fellow participants to see what’s being worked on if you want to submit encouragement for a particular idea, but there won’t be claims or assignments this round. The collection will remain unrevealed, but not anonymous, until reveals on June 30th.

Because this is a WIP Amnesty round, some of the regular rules do not apply: - works do not have to meet length minimums - creators will choose which prompts they’d like to write, rather than have them assigned to them - you may choose to gift your work to someone, but it’s not required - ideas you’ve claimed or talked about in namespace are eligible - you can use any fics you submit to fulfill another challenge

When the collection closes, a masterlist of all submitted works will be created and circulated as in previous years.

All players—men and women! current and retired!— teams, and managers are eligible.

So... is the modified Spring Fling still happening? :(

Yes!

Sorry for the lack of transparency on the schedule, that’s totally on me. My rl is going to get a lot less crazy now that tax season is largely over, and I just have a couple things to put in place before I open the collection but that should happen this week. And, of course, because we’re getting started much later than normal the collection will still be open much later into the summer than usual.

is the footie spring fling happening this year?

Not as it’s run in the past, no.

Here’s the sitch: Caitlin’s RL is just RL’ing real hard and she needs to step away from modding this round, and while I’m happy to mod solo because  participation has been trending downward I’m not sure the effort is worth it if we don’t hit a certain number of sign ups. And I don’t want to get everyone halfway through sign-ups only to pull the plug later because there wasn’t enough interest after all.

SO. What I propose instead is an interlude to the regular Spring Fling and have more of a Spring Fling: WIP Amnesty edition. A more low-key version of regular Spring Fling that keeps the spirit of the original alive and kicking. Instead of matching and a reverse exchange, it’ll be a simple fest to encourage football fandom peeps to finish a project or idea they’ve been toying with.

If y’all still want me to organize “sign ups” where different ideas can be voted on, so you know if there’s particular interest for an idea you have, I can do certainly that. But this can also just be an opportunity for you to pick the WIP project you want to finish most and do it. 

I’m still working out a schedule, but I’ll open the collection soon-ish and plan to close it in early or mid-May.

Footballkinkmeme was created as a successor to the original LiveJournal-based footballkink and footballkink2, and the Dreamwidth football-kink. Footballkinkmeme is very similar to the old meme (the Prompts/Fills Post and General Chat function exactly the same), with a few new features, such as the monthly challenges, fan art section and fills archive.

Last Minute Sub 2018 Schedule & Rule Changes

Annnnnnnd we’re back! Full details will be forthcoming, but to give everyone a head’s up, here’s the 2018 Last Minute Sub Schedule and a couple small changes to the rules:

2018 Schedule

Nominations:  August 10-14 Sign-ups:  August 15-22 Matching:  August 23-24 Assignments out:  August 25 Default deadline:  September 15 Assignments due:  October 6 Collection goes live (unless all works are in early):  October 13   Creator reveals:   October 17

Rule & Other Changes

Defaulting & Pinch Hits - If you have to default after the default deadline and the author writing for you subsequently defaults on their fic, your request will not be sent to the pinch hit list. Otherwise put, if you default after the default deadline, you are no longer guaranteed a gift. We want to make defaulting as easy as possible if you have to do it, so please keep the default deadline in mind.

Reader Fic/Imagines - Nominations for reader stand-in characters will not be accepted. Please ensure all your fandom and character nominations fit the guidelines outlined here. Additionally, if any sign-ups contain requests for reader fic or imagines, we will ask the participant to remove those requests.
