The sound of his boyfriend clearly scurrying left and right in the building has him smirking a bit, his own chest feeling warm. It was nice knowing his boyfriend cared about his opinion and preferences so much that he’s allowed himself to be a bit flustered, but he feels a little guilt bubble in his stomach.
He should have been a courteous boyfriend and called him first to prevent this, but he had been so excited to see the surprise on his face that he came over immediately.
He isn’t sure if it’s honest fondness or a slight touch of sadism that makes him smile more when he hears the ticking sound growing a bit louder, but his smile threatens to split the corners of his dry mouth.
He’s rather sure by how his watch rewinds a few seconds that his boyfriend has surely rewinded time for some reason or another, but he decides not to question it. He’ll just rewind it later and fix it, a few seconds can’t bother him too much.
The door swings open after a moment of his aggressive cleaning, and Arthur gently steps in and shuts it behind himself. He takes off his shoes and leaves them by the door, before he calmly starts walking towards the bedroom.
“Sweetie, don’t stress yourself out too much,” He cooed sweetly as he approached.
Arthur knocks on your door, a little box of chocolates and a bouquet ready in his hand with beautiful violet roses. Was there an occasion? No, he just wanted to surprise his boyfriend and give him some love and attention? Was that a crime?
“Lewlew~! Are you home?”
(forgetful-mechanic)
He’s messing with a clock that refuses to tick properly when he hears the knock. Growing huffy with it, he pushes it aside carefully and moves to stand up. Arthur was always better with these kinds of things than he was anyway.
Sighing to himself, he makes his way to the door and opens it a creak. Once he sees who is on the other side, however, he is quick to push it open further before offering the man a shy smile
“Oh, Hey Arty. I, uh... I didn’t know you’d be coming over today!” And dios mio, when was the last time he’d even combed his hair or straightened up?! “Uh, give me five then come on in!”
And with that he leaves the door open for the man as he turns on his heel and dashes to clean up both himself and the scattered remnants of mess around the apartment.

Oh dear, he was a rather handsome man, the purple haired creature who had answered the door. He was tall, his lovely mocha skin having no flaw he could see, and that smile was charming. His teeth were a very strong white, but it didn’t put him off too much.
The kiss to the back of his hand made him blush, but he kept on his smile as he looked up.
“You are far, far too fine- I mean kind, kind to me,” Arthur finds himself blurting out, before he tries a smooth recovery. “Oh yeah, a tow truck yeah. I should see if the one I wrote down is still in service.”
He smiled a little and messed with a strand of hair hanging from his face, his eyes drifting aside. “I can definitely try my best. I am a handy man of sorts.”
A little knock on the door was the signal of someone knew showing up on his vibrant doorstep. Out in the open was a soft looking blonde with rabid freckles across his face and on his neck too. He was dressed in black slacks and a nice golden shirt, made of silk with a few tasteful black lines. He seems a little confused when the door opens, but his smile doesn’t waver.
“Ah, Hello? My car broke down and my phone died. I don’t have any of my tools or I’d fix it myself so, could I borrow a phone and call a mechanic? Or a tow truck?” He asked and offered a hand. “My name’s Arthur.”
(forgetful-mechanic)
When he hears a knock, Lewis blinks. He then finishes up his wing, checking his eyeliner by feel and making sure it’s on point. Once he is satisfied, he then puts it down before kissing the air and sauntering towards the door
“Ohhh, and to what do I owe— well, well, well hello.” Now looking his guest up and down, the vampire grins. He then puts an arm on the doorframe, posing with a hum. His free hand quickly snakes out to curl around the offered hand, but instead of a shake he pulls it to his lips and presses a kiss to it
That’s obviously what is expected of him right? It is only— oh, how do the kids say it now a days— gentlemanly of him after all
“My name is Lewis, and it’s oh so very nice to meet you Arthur. Do feel free to come in, perhaps we can talk while we get you this truck’s toe hm? I do have a phone you can use, but the blasted thing is most insufferable. Perhaps you could put it in its place?”

“Well of course you weren’t expecting me silly, that was the point of surprising you,” Arthur said with a soft and warm little smile coming to his face. “Oh don’t make too much of a fuss Lewlew, or you’ll get those mean little wrinkles on your face.”
He hummed a bit abs leaned against the door. He knew Lewis’ tricks after all. He listened and could hear the sound of quickly dashing feet, a few clocks stop ticking briefly, before a broom went across the room, before a random coo-coo-clock went off.
That usually meant he had ran back and forth to put stuff away, remembered something that surprised him or made him gasp, started sweeping, before he spooked himself by finding something particularly frightful while cleaning. Maybe his underwear? Who knows. “You will let me come in soon right? I’ve got a movie tucked in my pocket too! We can watch it together.”
Yes, his attempt to distract the boy was underway. Maybe he’d stop fretting if he did.

Oh no. Oh no no no no no no NO! How did he not know? Lew was a fully grown man! Had he never heard of that phrase? Or was he super innocent? Would he even be for sex? Oh dear, this isn’t good. This is so not good.
He frowned lightly and slowly rubbed his head gently, his face turning red as he stared as far away from Lew as possible. What an interesting ceiling.
“Well... Well Lew it’s...it’s an expression...” He said softly and bit his lip softly. “When uh... You... When two people...”
Shit, he doesn’t know what to. “When uh... You are familiar with...sex right Lew...?” He said gently and looked at his shoes now. “Well uh... When...when someone feels super good and...you know...has that...peak moment and all... It is often called the ‘Little Death’ and well...it kinda...makes me giggle a little cause well...”
He anxiously shifted his hands and bit his lip lightly. “So I think that’s what...it was referring to and all...”
How do you die?

“Well, doesn’t that just sound violent. At this point though, it may take a bit more than a bus to do me in. I have more than one way to avoid that now… nice try though.”

“Ah... Ah Lew... That’s not exactly what I meant...” Arthur responded gently and shifted a hand to press against his face. No way, he was not the one who could explain to Lew exactly what he meant. He was not the one for this job.
“Ah... I didn’t mean it like that. I doubt I’m just going to spontaneously explode for no reason. Plus, you’ve seen this thing already. Your prediction is completely unrealistic. So why should I believe this one will hurt me?”
He smiled warmly at him and shifted to pat his back. “This thing is just a silly little game to mess with us. It’s not actually going to come true...so don’t make that face, okay?”
He smiled and patted his cheek, careful to avoid getting pinched by the gears.
How do you die?

“Well I think that sounds violent...” Arthur muttered as his face flushed a little. This was NOT specific enough for him, and it made him anxious to think of just what could cause him to die in such a way. “On the bright side...there’s a chance it could mean a different...nicer way... Wait, isn’t that worse?!”

Oh and here he comes, kicking down that door and screaming at the top of his lungs “Arthur, holy cluck!”
A solid blink escapes Arthur, as he stares at his boyfriend in desbelief, before he rapidly goes to the bathroom. He then kicks the door back open and mimicked Lewis’ screaming.
“Lewis! Holy chuck!” He shouts and resists the urge to immediately burst into laughter.

“Honestly, I have no idea how I ended up here,” Arthur responded and took another slow step forward, looking to find his footing. “I was sitting in my room, working on my arm and tuning it up. Next thing I know, I feel like I’m falling, like I’ve slipped off the edge of my bed again.”
He gently rubbed the back of his head. “But it lasted much, much longer this time. Next thing I know, I’m hitting the ground here and it’s incredibly dark... I just don’t know why I’m here...”
He pauses for a moment, then looks aside. “Where is here anyway...? Am I in a dark cave? Or some kind of tunnel? I can’t see any light aside what I saw coming off of you...”
He made a sound and tried to step closer, but stumbled slightly. “I... I uh... I’d leave if I could but I...don’t really see which way is out... Can you help me?”
Just like that, Arthur Kingsman was dumped down in a place he didn’t recognize. It was an open area that seemed full of darkness, and his eyes refused to adjust. “Hello?” He spoke out, searching in the darkness. Is anyone there? (forgetful-mechanic)
For a moment, there is only stiffling silence. The air in this space is cold, dull, and lifeless. There is a distinct lack of any defining features, and it almost feels as though this space shouldn’t exist. The truth is, it probably shouldn’t. It doesn’t seem to matter now though, its existence now as real as the bright magenta light approaching from the distance. If he were to look close, he might find there is something working it’s way through parts of the darkness. It’s hard to see fully though, the large form still blending in with the shadowed areas around him
But if Arthur were to listen close, he’d hear the accompanying sounds of footesteps. Heavy and slow, but powerful enough to catch one’s attention.
Especially as a voice begins to accompany it
“Well, it would seem so. You are here aren’t you? Surely that would count as someone being present. I suppose the next question that needs to be asked, however, is why? Why are you here?”
Oh, and now the sound of footsteps is abating. The sounds dying off only a few feet away from Arthur

“...Yes... I am...” He said gently, looking down at himself before he slowly looked at Arthur. He wanted to ask how he didn’t know, since he’d been the one who pushed him, but this might not be the time, nor the right way to go. “I... I uh... When do you last remember seeing me...?”
If he could swallow, he would have, but instead he looks away. “You... You were there but you...don’t remember that part...so what do you remember...?”
He made a soft sound and gently looked down. He slowly shifted his facade to have a human face, and looked directly at Arthur. “I... I thought you knew...and were running cause of that but I... I was wrong...”
The scene was too familiar, and Arthur fell back into it easily. Breathe in, count, breathe out, count. Try not to cough. Listen to Lewis. Repeat until he could breathe again.
Slowly, Arthur’s lungs stopped burning for oxygen, and it became easier and easier to catch a breath. By the time his diaphragm had relaxed, Arthur was still shaking, but he was no longer in danger of hyperventilating. The blond moved to push himself up with his flesh arm, letting the prosthetic drag on the ground, and sat back on shaking knees.
“….you’re dead.” Arthur whispered. The draft in the cavern grew stronger, and a few small pebbles rolled across the floor. “You’re really dead…”

Lewis watched the way Arthur’s hand sparked, and it dawned on him that his hand shouldn’t be doing that.
No shit Sherlock.
It dawned on him that his arm was sparking like an electronic that got struck by lightning, and then it dawned on him more that his arm was made of metal. Why was his arm made of metal? The very arm that had pushed him that is...
Something is very wrong. He slowly shifted out to touch it, feeling it spark with his energy. He didn’t shock him! When did this happen? No wait, why was his arm made of metal? What even was this?!
“Arthur... Arthur slowly...” He said gently, looking at his breathing. “Try to time it with me...okay? In...2...3... Out...2...3...” He felt guilt rise in his chest, but he tried to focus on just one thing at a time. Arthur’s breathing, and then more apologizing, and then maybe, just maybe he can get some answers.
“I c-. I can’t.” Arthur hiccuped. Slow breaths? In this economy? His best friend was dead and just tried to kill him, but not really, and now he wanted him to breathe??
The blond clawed the fingers of his good hand into the floor in an attempt to ground himself. His prosthetic was still limp, and small little sparks of pink energy still jumped between its seams every few seconds. He would be amazed if it ever worked again. Could ghost energy fry mechanical circuits and wires? It sure seemed like it could…
The orange spirit continued to gnaw on Lewis’ hand for a few seconds before realizing it couldn’t drive the ghost away, and giving up. It unraveled the rest of its body from around Arthur’s waist and slithered down to his side, seeming to vanish. But a closer look would reveal yellow eyes peering suspiciously up at Lewis from the depths of a pocket in Arthur’s puffy vest, and a tongue snaking out in warning would give them away.
Meanwhile, another orange glimmer appeared at the mouth of the lower tunnel. It perked up when it spotted Lewis and Arthur, and spun around to trill something back down into the darkness behind it. A slight breeze began to blow through the cavern, stirring up the dust like fog…

Arthur blinks as he tried to interpret the bright, beautiful light cascading through the darkness. He slowly approaches, making a soft sound in response to the voice that spoke with a relaxing, calm tone.
“Well I know I am here... What I meant to ask was if anyone besides me was also present,” Arthur asked and tried to get closer. He tried to follow the figure, but for some reason his footing was shaky.
He grunted a little and tried to feel for something in the dark to help guide him. “As for the why... I’m not sure honestly... I remember being in my room one minute, and the next thing I know, I’m crashing to the ground here...”
Just like that, Arthur Kingsman was dumped down in a place he didn’t recognize. It was an open area that seemed full of darkness, and his eyes refused to adjust. “Hello?” He spoke out, searching in the darkness. Is anyone there? (forgetful-mechanic)

He winched as he was bit, but did not let it stop him. He gently placed his hand on Arthur’s shoulder, regret shining in his eye sockets as he looked the poor boy over. He was a wreck.
“You... How could you...not know I was...” Lewis started to ask, but felt his voice trail off. “When...When do you last remember seeing me...?” If he had a throat, he knew bile would be rising in it. Something was wrong, very very wrong.
He carefully pressed his fingers into his shoulder, his touch warm. “No... Don’t answer that now... You need to breathe... You’re gonna pass out if you don’t get it under control.”
Grief was striking his heart, so many questions filtering through his head. Why hasn’t he asked these questions before? Why did he just jump into action? How could he just assume? He was wrong. He was completely wrong. “Come on Arthur, slowly. In...and out... In...and out... Just like Vivi showed you...”
“Because you’re not…supposed to be…?” Arthur wheezed, still fighting to catch his breath and stop the burning in his lungs. He could hear Vivi in his head “deep breaths, Arthur! Deep breaths!”, but when he felt so dizzy and sick and shaky, it felt like a miracle he could still breathe at all.
The orange spirit hissed again as Lewis approached, like a rattlesnake shaking its rattle, and when the ghost reached out, the spirit snapped at his hand. Its teeth - sharp as they looked - did little damage. The spirit could bite no harder than a Deadbeat, perhaps.
But they hope it got their point across.
“You were missinggggg….I was gonna find yooooouuu…” A sob crawled up the back of his throat, and Arthur pressed his face into the cold floor. He couldn’t breathe enough to think, there were too many g h o s t s, and grief was starting to press harder on his lungs than the paralyzed muscles. “Y-yooouu’re….dead…? Noooonononoooo….”

He watched as the hand he was about to grab moved away from him, and he was caught off guard by what he was seeing. It was a sliver of light that came off bright orange in color, matching Arthur’s grander scheme. It slammed into Arthur’s side and he saw him gasp for air.
The sudden direction change made it impossible for Lewis to grab him, and he watched the blonde crumble to the ground. It looked like a large, glowing snake had wrapped around him. He watched as Arthur seemed curled into the floor.
His locket felt like it was falling to pieces, and he kept his hand outstretched towards Arthur. Something is definitely wrong and he had messed up. He could sense it deep in his soul but he wasn’t sure where things had gone wrong.
He did know that he’d gone too far.
“A-Arthur...?” He felt his own voice creak out, growing closer despite the promise of teeth. This was all wrong, he had to fix this. “Arthur why...why do you...look so surprised...?”
He wanted to know, but no. This wasn’t what he needed to say. This wasn’t it and he felt a part of his locket break off and fall. “N-No... It’s... I’m sorry... Something is... It’s not supposed to...be this way... I’m sorry...”
It didn’t feel good enough to him, no matter how much he said it. Why was it now, he felt like he was the bad guy? Shouldn’t they both be equally to blame? But something felt wrong, too wrong. He gently stretched out his hand, wanting to touch his shoulder. “Wh-Why...does my death...surprise you...? A-Arthur...?”
Freefall left his stomach back on the cliff, but the empty feeling in his chest stayed with Arthur as he fell. He made no attempt to hold on to Lewis’ arm - why would he? He was still trying to wrap his head around the fact that Lewis was dead.
He felt a heat at his back, and the cavern was suddenly much, much darker - without the glowing spikes and floating rocks, the only light source left to illuminate it was Lewis himself. It almost burned to look up at such a bright light in the dark, and Arthur’s eyes started to water. Though still dazed, he reached up for his long lost friend with his good arm (out of a sense of self-preservation, if nothing else in his shell-shocked state)…
But before Lewis could wrap a hand around Arthur’s outstretched arm something speedy and orange slammed into the blond from the side, and yanked him away.
The sudden change in direction knocked the wind from Arthur’s lungs, and he choked, hunching over in the grasp of the snake-like spirit that had wrapped around him. The little thing wasn’t quite strong enough to lift him, despite its struggles, but it slowed his fall enough that when his feet hit the ground and he collapsed, it only bruised his knees instead of breaking them.
Something cool and soft nudged at his flesh arm, but Arthur already had his face pressed into the floor, gasping for air as his diaphragm struggled to unparalyze itself. The Reptilitone made a worried face, and nudged the blond’s arm again. Come on, get up! They still had to run!!
The spirit looked up as a magenta light fell upon them, and they bristled; spines standing up (almost straight), and tiny claws unsheathing. Their jaw parted open to reveal sharp, needle-like teeth, and they hissed warningly. Don’t come any closer!!!

Hearing Arthur call his name put him in shock. The way he looked, the confusion in his eyes and the pure heartbreak on his face was all...wrong. It was supposed to be Lewis who felt heartbroken. Not Arthur.
His hand released Arthur, but instantly he felt regret fill his heart. The look on Arthur’s face as he fell though dug straight to his soul. He felt his heart shatter, and again his heart screamed that something was wrong.
“N-No,” He gasped out, as if coming to his senses, before he suddenly sprung forward, flying after Arthur. He’d made a mistake. He wasn’t sure where but something was wrong.
He waved his hands and made the spikes disappear, going for Arthur. He had made a mistake. Something was wrong. He had made a mistake. Something was wrong. He had made a MISTAKE!

The moment he had been anticipating had finally come, and a dark portion took joy in it. The screams were like music as his little minions forced Arthur deeper into the illusion he created of the cave. He finally had his killer corner, right where he wanted him.
He watched as Arthur almost fell off on his own, so he quickly shifted to grab the blonde and lift him off the ground.
“You took everything away from me!” Lewis growled. “My happiness with Vivi! My life with my wonderful parents! All of it!” He shouted and held him over the edge. “And now I’ll have my revenge.”
He growled as his image shifted, his face emerging from the face as he glared at Arthur.
