My hot take is that echo chambers are just a buzz word that makes people scared to form a support network or community.

“So you just wanna be around people who agree with you?”

If you haven’t noticed from being on twitter or at thanksgiving dinner, being around folks with the opposite stance as you is fucking exhausting and I don’t think it should be a societal expectation to constantly whittle away at your mental fortitude like that.

Being a card in a game by no means devalues its status as evocative imagery. Just because a piece was commissioned doesn't retract meaning, techniques and powerful themes infused into it. "Just a card in a game." does a big disservice to the effort of the artist to evoke everything art is supposed to. I agree that Grand Cenobite is a truly beautiful piece. There's infinite analysis to be done about the displayed character, in and out of context. Not to mention color choices, shapes, composition, medium, ect ect. But on top of the standard subjects you can now consider story importance, game power, effect, role, rarity. Elesh Norn being a game piece doesn't reduce its status as art, it elevates it. Below are a handful of my favorite magic arts. None of this was meant to be aggressive or accusatory, I just want to share my love of magic's art with someone.

Old Politoed Wisdom

You all thought my best oc was Melony or Dardanne ??? WRONG !!! IT'S POLITOED !!!

Politoed (yes, the politoed is named Politoed) is basically Dardanne's dad

Politoed was originally Dardanne's father's ace pokémon.

When Dardanne ran away from home as a teenager and was enrolled in Plasma, Politoed followed him to make sure he was safe and to keep an eye on him. Dardanne became his trainer because Politoed refused to leave him alone.

Dardanne is later selected to accompany N on his journey throught out Unova to gather the badges and defy the league. Dardanne keeps old Politoed out of his pokéball most of the day, following N's ideals fervently. Politoed might look chill and laid-back, but his tongue is sharp and N is unfortunately the only one who can understand it.

Politoed is also very aware of what's going on in Team Plasma, having already quite a lot of prior experiences with abusive trainers (Dardanne's father is an ex-gym leader for a reason after all). As Politoed is unable to drive Dardanne away from what is essentially a cult, he decides to stick by him and do his best to protect him whenever he can.

tl,dr : Politoed ditched his original trainer (Dardanne's dad) and decided Dardanne was his kid now

This is the scene that I was working on when my iPad died. I said I’d post it when I finished so you’d all get to see why I was so devastated when I lost it, so here you go! (No sound, I haven’t edited it to the rest of the short yet).

I had just finished inking Petra and Jessie. Luckily I had exported it as a video and saved it to my phone before the crash. So while I did have to re-trace all of the ink lines, at least I had a good reference to do it from.

I started working on this scene a little before Christmas, so it’s been about a month that I’ve been working on it (including the week where I had to scramble to get a new iPad and get caught back up again).

It’s been a rough time. This is probably the most technically challenging shot I’ve done so far. Keeping their proportions right, their feet planted on the ground, and their bodies rotating in 3D space was exceptionally difficult. Im happy with how it turned out but I’m frustrated that it probably would’ve been better had I not had to re-do so much of it due to a hardware malfunction.

There’s probably a lot wrong with it, but I honestly can’t focus on it any longer. I’m so far behind now. I really want to wrap up this short. So I just gotta cut my losses and say this is good enough and move on.

I only have a few more shots left, and hopefully they’re not as technical as this one. So here’s hoping I can finish before the end of next month if all goes well.
