Evaluation
I had incredibly high expectations for myself during this project, I really wanted to create something interesting that pushed my creativity. Initially I wanted to jump straight into my final major project and skip the 1 week Translate and Transform task. I treated the one week task as an extension of the FMP, and it soon helped me lay the foundation of research for my final major project, it was incredibly beneficial for me.
I began the final major project exactly the same way as I would in a research task. I followed the exact same formula as I did on my dissertation and other essays. It was the first time I had applied the ideation process of a theoretical task and used it for a practical, physical project. The process of ideation was entirely theoretical, research led. I spent a huge amount of time at the beginning of the project investigating many ideas and essays that all surrounded the topic of digital images, specifically how people interact and engage with them. I collected a huge list of references and extracts from essays and writings and kept them in a single word document. I found this incredibly useful as once I had collected the references I had a huge amount of information that was all relevant to my idea all within the same place. From this point I was able to narrow down and refine my idea to the point I could start to create some visuals. I found this way of starting the project incredibly beneficial and efficient, I feel like the depth of research within my final outcome is evident and I now know that research driven projects are ones that I enjoy the most.
I am very proud of my time keeping throughout this project. Considering the amount of research I completed I still found time to revisit my second year final project during the start of this project. Revising the project meant that I had to physically create all the assets needed again, from cutting, constructing and painting wooden plinths in the workshop to creating two new perspex boxes and organising a five camera shoot in the drawing studio with the help of film students. This was only possible due to the scheduling of the research process. I knew exactly what I wanted to achieve so I just had to make sure I followed the plan.
I worked incredibly independently on this project, there were some useful and interesting feedback comments at the start of the project, but the rest of the project I worked incredibly independently.
This project allowed me to learn and try a huge amount of image making softwares. I am so happy I took time to learn different aspects of 3D design. I see 3D as a huge and ever growing part of the industry which will be great to capitalise on in the future.
I would want to improve on the installation area of my project. From the start of the project I knew I wanted to further explore the areas of installation design. It is something that I had briefly worked on in the past. I feel like I should have planned for more creative and experimental ways to show my work physically,
but considering time scale, this would of been very hard for me. I will absolutely carry on with this he day after my hand in. I am genuinely proud of myself of this project and what I have achieved while this project has been live. Situation Normal, All Fucked Up will be a great addition to my portfolio. It excites me that this is not the end of the project and now I have more time to find better and more creative ways of showing my work.

This was a very quick trial of how I would want my work to be seen in an installation. I didn't really have permission to shoot and I was filming alone for one of the days. The hardest part was trying to clean up the cables. I had two extension cables, a speaker and lights all hidden and attached at the back of the monitor. I wanted to include two pink neon lights behind each monitor but unfortunately only had access to one. The light had two purposes, I wanted the light to act as a beacon to call the attention of the audience to 'visit' and experience the world. The light also adds a huge amount of ambience and atmosphere. I am not so happy with the set up of the second, smaller monitor. I would love to find, or build a stand that suits the for the screen

My finished video for the Digital Mutant. I’m happy about the final outcome, the glitching movement was such an incredible surprise.

Some examples of my sketched plans for my camera movement. Although it looks very simple and basic, it was so useful for me to follow these guidelines as the most technically challenging area of this project was using the camera

As I want to exhibit my work I wanted to try the video on a larger monitor as well as the audio on a sound bar. The video was great, but the sound was terrible. The voice could not be heard at all. The levels were all wrong.

Example of some of the things I found during the process of recording my digital mutant, it was really fun to explore all these options which the software never intended you to have

Sharing renders on tumblr
Due to the nature of the videos, the file sizes are huge and I am having a tough time finding ways to show the development of video as Tumblr or vimeo (free) will not take these file sizes
