I used to know someone who's name was Ksenja and her last name began with an A so she was first on the register and new teachers would always try to start the register and their face would fall when they read her name and had no idea how to pronounce it 😭 Also the only reason I know the spelling of her name is from how many times I've heard people try to pronounce it as it's written

Does anyone else have a weird relationship with their name? Like, I love my name, it's so pretty! But when someone calls me by my name I hate it because it doesn't feel like me and it's makes me so uncomfortable and I hate having to give my name to new people because the fact that you're gonna look at me and associate me with that name is really weird, but at the same time it also feels way too personal to me, like someone says my name and I'm like Why do you know that? Why do you have that piece of information about me?

So then I consider, maybe I should change my name? Something less feminine would be good too, but I can't seem to picture myself being called by any of the names that I pick out that I like.

A couple years ago my best friend at the time changed her name from Izzy to Bella for moving up to a new school and I wanted to do the same so I shortened my name but once I was maybe a week or two in I absolutely hated it because it didn't feel like me and I would wake up for school feeling so sick with dread and had to go through a really awkward process to tell everyone that I didn't want to shorten my name after all and it still makes me feel sick to think about that time so maybe that's why I don't like the idea of changing my name.

There's a part of me that wishes I could just be nameless but it doesn't really work like that
